Chapter 11

"Emma?"

Oh, no, no, no – I didn't... I couldn't have... no...

"Miss Swan!" Husky tones enunciated carefully, angrily and all at once she felt nauseous.

She carefully removed her arms from the tops of her knees, slowly lifted her head as emerald took in her new surroundings, the decidedly warmer, more enticing surroundings and the confused brunette that stared at her from her bed...

Oh shit! Her bed! I'm in her bedroom!

"Oh..." Emma murmured, her frightened gaze landed on Regina once again and the perplexed expression was enough to make her swallow audibly before she tried to think of some form of explanation, an explanation that she does not know, as to why she is currently in the brunette's private space and tries to think drastically of a way to remove herself from the frightened intimacy this now presented to her.

"Are you okay?" Dulcet tones enquired before slipping from satin sheets and moving to seat herself beside the blonde, no matter how much her mind protested the action, still very much angry with the blonde but her heart clamouring for some form of forgiveness in the matter when the blonde's already pallid complexion paled extremely, far more so than the brunette even thought possible and in an effort to stop the other woman from losing consciousness once more, she presses warm hands to cold cheeks, "Emma?"

"I..." The blonde stammered and finally she understood the odd fluttering in her abdomen, worry enveloped her and suddenly she felt frozen and she inhaled sharply at the other woman's closeness and released a shuddering breath as she looked into sepia orbs and almost immediately looked away, feeling colour instantly return to her face, "I... I don't know what happened... I'm so...sorry..."

"Calm yourself," The brunette instructed, removing fingers from cold flesh and leaning back onto her heels and finally the blonde took in the other woman's attire, she was dressed in black silk pajama bottoms and a red silken camisole and a ripple of desire ran through her, to which she attempted to hide by taking another shuddering breath and resting her forehead on bony denim, "Wait right here."

She simply nodded in response to the darker woman, not daring to look up again and contemplated attempting to evaporate again and transport herself elsewhere. It was tempting. But what was more tempting was the urge to stay since the brunette hadn't immediately demanded that her presence be gone from her sight. A sense of hope dared to blossom in her chest.

"Here, take this," Regina whispered, placing her warm hand on the blonde's shoulder once again and pressing cold glass into the other's small hand.

She sat up, only because the fear of shattered glass and the anger it would elicit from the other woman being the only reason she did so but green orbs purposely avoided seeking out dark flesh.

"Thank you," She choked out around the large lump that had suddenly formed in her throat and she coughed in an attempt to clear it, Regina still hadn't said a word but she was sure that a reprimand of some sort would spill from full lips shortly and she tried to turn her mind away from the thought of the other woman's mouth in that instant.

"What happened?" Regina asked, almost kindly for the older woman but Emma took advantage of the distraction and answered carefully.

"I... I don't really know," Emma replied, the words falling easily from her mouth because she really didn't, she knew how she had done that in The Enchanted Forest but that was full of magic and she had a harder time kicking into that once she had returned to Storybrooke, or maybe it was because every time she thought of it in this realm, she was reminded of the woman she had tried so hard to deny the fact of that she may have feelings for, the connection they held with magic and the stronger she felt around the former Queen.

"Well, dear, you must have some semblance of an idea?" There was the clipped tone that the blonde was used to dealing with and she found not only comfort in it this time, but a shot of adrenaline of other words falling from full lips and she shook her head physically to dismiss those thoughts.

"I was in the woods and then... then I was here," She gestured carelessly with her free hand, the other holding the glass closer and she caught an expression on the brunette's dark features that she wasn't sure she had ever seen before it morphed into a familiar perturbed expression once again.

"Really, dear, the woods?"

"Yes, the woods... what?" Emma asked in almost frustration, "I should go, I'm sorry for intruding..." The blonde stood on shaking legs and attempted to place the glass on the dresser next to her but she was stopped when a warm hand grasped at the inside of her elbow almost tentatively.

"You know you transported right?" The brunette inquired carefully.

"Yes," Emma breathed, "But I don't know why and I especially didn't actually expect to come here because I thought of..." She immediately stopped speaking, realizing the words that were about to fall from petite pink and she sighed softly, "I should go..." She repeated.

"You were thinking of me?" Regina asked, there was that confusion marring her tone again but instead of waiting for the blonde to turn around she moved to stand in front of her, "Why? You could only do that if you had been focusing on me," She waited then, expecting any answer but all she got was the epitome of an embarrassed expression with flushed crimson to boot, "What hair brained, imbecilic idea could you possibly be cooking up now?" She snapped as anger flooded through her at what else The Saviour could be up to in attempts to reconcile the tentative friendship they had just starting procuring before the return of Marian.

"I..." Emma started, attempting to douse some of the fire that she found burning behind dark eyes and the curl of full lips displaying straight set, pearly whites and she found her own fire starting to burn, "You know what, Regina? I can't keep doing this with you!"

"Doing what exactly? Because it seems to me we keep ending up with you and your stupid meddling ruining everything! So what is it this time?!" The ferocity of her words left her shaking, fists balled and she knew this emotion well, she knew it better than anything else in her life and she had sworn it wouldn't ever be something she would return to and she had even promised Henry that she wouldn't but the more she looked at the shamefaced blonde, the more her blood boiled and for the life of her she couldn't figure out why she was mad with her at this moment, or why when she could clearly see that from the last few days the blonde had done nothing out of malice, it had in all actuality illuminated all of her actions as simply because she had cared and suddenly she felt winded, anger quickly fled her and her eyes began to burn with unshed tears and she simply lowered herself to the end of her bed unable to form another word.

The blonde who had been intent on leaving at that very moment, hesitated, taking in the brunette's quick succession from anger to misery in seconds and something pulled at her, something she knew was because she had slowly, from the very first moment she had met the fiery older woman, that she had feelings for her, feelings that in all likelihood that would not be reciprocated any time soon, if ever, she was sure of it, but as emerald orbs took in the now small, crumpled form of someone she knew was so much bigger than that, had so much more power than that and was a force to be reckoned with and suddenly she found that she was on her knees, small, pale fingers wrapping firmly around hands that were clasping silken fabric between olive skin.

"Regina?" She breathed and watery brown orbs focused on her and she inhaled sharply, "Talk to me. I know that you think right now that you are alone but you're not, Regina, you're not. I promise you. And no matter how many times you try and push me away, I will come back because you are the only person in this goddamn town that understands me and I feel like that I know you too and Regina? That is why I am fighting so damn hard not to lose that. Can you not see that? Honestly?"

The brunette stared at her for a full minute, the time expanded so long that Emma could have sworn that it went on for far longer, her hands started to shake literally waiting for a response from the brunette and suddenly she started doubting her words and she exhaled slowly.

"Please say something," The blonde about begged, she had never been the sort of person to do so, it shocked her only to a certain extent that she was doing so now, but there had always been something about Regina that evoked so many different emotions from her that it seemed almost poetic that she would wind up here after the realization of exactly how she feels now about the brunette.

"Oh," It came out slowly, almost like a simple breath and not actual words and at first Emma wasn't sure she had actually said anything, "I see..." She gently removed her hands from the hold the blonde now had on her, suddenly overwhelmed with exactly how much emotion that seemed to be in that room at that moment, she could feel her body almost humming in relief when the blonde had touched her, an almost explosion like feeling following it up as she simply stared at the other.

In all honesty, she really didn't know what to say to the blonde, of course she had realized the parallel between them but that in itself scared her beyond measure, Robin had been easy in comparison but instead of focusing on that she found herself wanting to do the one thing she hadn't in years - she wanted to collide into it.

"I will go if you want me to but that just needed to be out there," The blonde uttered quietly, pulling herself into a standing position before she attempted to leave but low words behind her caused her to hesitate.

"Why were you in the woods?"
