Chapter 81: Prospects

Splinter smiled as he watched his sons performing the katas.

He could tell that they had prospects as good warriors one day.

Leonardo would make a great leader and would protect his brothers from harm. He would have to be shown the way and be sure not to be too arrogant, but Splinter believed that he would fulfill his task admirably.

Raphael would be a good second-in-command even though he did have a temper at times. That would have to be rectified so that he did not lead his brothers into a disaster one day. But he also had a passion and a fire that would aid him as a warrior if honed correctly.

Donatello was also a good fighter and a good strategist. His intelligence was an asset and Splinter foresaw that his child would do great things and invent wonderful things as long as he was careful about it.

Michelangelo was very athletic and that would aid him well one day. He could focus at times, but he did have difficulty with it. Splinter felt that in time, his youngest son would outgrow that tendency and learn to focus better when scheduled with a task. He was also very creative and Splinter hoped that one day he would be able to use his creativity in exciting ways.

Yes, all of his sons had good prospects.

He just hoped that they would be ready when the time came when he would not be there to guide them anymore.

Shaking off this thought, Splinter praised his sons and dismissed them from training for the day. Such a day probably wouldn't happen for many years to come. They still had time together and he would worry about that day when it came closer.

A/N: I really enjoyed this drabble and still stand by my belief that Splinter knew he was going to die that day even though he was trying not to worry his sons about it. Feel free to leave a review and have a shelltastic day.
