And on to chapter three
BTW the reason Batman is having so much trouble finding out who Danny is because I figure that Amity is an extremely small town in Illinois it is not that well known. Batman has mainly checked large cities for a teen fitting Danny's description He has yet to get to the small towns. And he can't rely on geographical accents because Danny has not really spoken yet, and wont for a while yet. (Insert evil laughter)
In this chapter … NOT TELLING READ IT YOURSELF.
Chapter three the first steps and finally a name
-Third person POV-
The kid spent a week holed up in the room, only coming out for a few minutes to further explore the corridor. The League watched him closely during that time and saw no use of his powers. They did see the kid panic at seemingly random times only to relax shortly after. Other than those instances he acted like a regular frightened child who did not know where he was.
After the week spent in the room the child slowly began to explore the Watchtower. When it became obvious what the child was doing, though slowly, everyone that came to the watchtower were told not to approach the child, but to let the child come to them.
It was three days after He had started to explore the Watchtower that the league actually caught sight of him, even then it was only for a second, it was comical though because from the looks of it the child was following Superman around like a skittish lost puppy. When asked Superman merely nodded his head and said he knew about his tag along then changed the subject. The boy followed Superman around the watchtower for a few hours before disappearing back to the room he had claimed.
Once the child was gone the League gathered together to try and figure out why the child had chosen to follow superman. In the end it was decided that the child recognized Superman as the person who had given him the first blanket and had not taken it away and therefore had deemed him 'safe'. It was kind of a sad state that the first person to show kindness to the child was considered 'safe', also a dangerous state as a seemingly harmless action could destroy the child's trust in someone. In the end the League decided to continue on like they had been.
The child was spotted three days later this time he was exploring the observation area above the training arena (think X-men danger room cause I have no clue if the watchtower actually has a training room like this). A few of the league were in the observation area as well but generally ignored the kid, some had yet to notice he was even there. Superman was currently doing some training in the arena, at the moment he was trashing the robots in there. Suddenly one robot got a lucky shot in and hit superman in the back and superman fell to the ground. Thankfully the lasers were set at non-lethal levels, unfortunately no one had thought to tell the observer that seemed to have grown attached to the man of steel that they could not hurt him, on the bright side though they finally confirmed that the kid had powers.
The kid was out of the observation area and into the room in a matter of seconds. The leaguers that were there where staring in shock because the kid had gone THROUGH the wall, but left no hole as people going through walls tended to do. They were then thrown further into shock as the kids hands lit up with a bright green glow, and the next robot to come close to them was destroyed by a green energy blast from his hand.
-Danny POV-
I did not care if I was showing them my powers the blue and red guy that had been nice to me was in trouble and I felt the need to help him, after the initial week getting back on my feet I had decided to trust the guy and had taken to following him around. I had not felt like this in a long time, my core, my very existence, telling me to help someone. I could literally feel my power come back to me as I stood between the man and the robots, I how could one not notice that aura was flaring brightly with my power. I felt my aura collapse towards me and Heal my wounds at an accelerated rate, my suit had come back by the second day in the room but the injuries healed much slower than normal like they had been disconnected. It took a few seconds before I was standing there with fewer injuries than before, just a few minor scratches and some bruises not the almost major injuries from before.
When I felt the man behind me move to get up I had to force myself to stay in one spot. Besides moving slightly away from me and to the side the man made no other moves. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him briefly glance at me his eyes widening slightly when He caught site of my hands and confusion to my overall condition.
The man then looked at the robots and asked "you want to help me with these guys?"
I opened my mouth to say something only to have to grab my through at the horrible pain that shot through it. So speaking was out but I expected it, I had hoped that my Aura had healed my vocal cords, my voice was shot from the screaming I had done in the facility it would probably take a while for me to be able to speak again. I nodded my head when the pain in my throat died down. I saw the man looking at me with concern; I waved my hand at him and pointed to the robots in front of us. He nodded in understanding and we attacked them together.
It felt good to fight using my powers again and I decided to cycle through them to see how many were currently useable I started with my Ghost rays before I moved on to areal hand to hand, which mainly involved lopping the robots heads off even with my diminished strength, I had to occasionally go intangible to avoid the attacks they threw at me. From there I went high and used me Ice powers to freeze the robots to the floor before attacking them with my ghost rays again.
The fight was over in a matter of minutes, and I had somehow destroyed the most robots, still I was saddened that the fight had not lasted longer. I looked around the room, now filled with broken robots, for my fighting partner I saw him coming towards me from behind a pile of robots that all had two holes in them and looked slightly melted. He looked at me then to the pile of robots directly behind me. His eyes widened as he noticed the other piles of robots all of them destroyed in different ways. I merely smiled and waved before I walked around the pile of robots and kicked on my invisibility. The man came running around to where I was only to stop in confusion when he could not see me. The look on his face would have made me laugh if I was able to. The man turned and headed toward the observation area probably to talk to the people in there. I decided to follow him and see what they talked about.
-Third person POV-
Superman walked into the observation area unaware of his tagalong.
When he entered the room he looked at the occupants, more like glared seeing how half of them flinched at the look, and asked "How did he get in there? And for that matter why did no one warn him that the robots would not kill me?"
Plastic Man stuck his neck on the line and said "In order? The kid went through the wall. Left no hole or anything he just went through it. The answer to the second one is the kid looked like he would take off if any of us approached him. Need we remind you that so far you're the only one the kid wants to be near, superman?"
Superman sighed "Sorry. I just don't want the kid to get hurt."
Suddenly alarms were going off all over the Watchtower. Everyone in the room jumped at the sound and then stared in shock as standing right behind superman was the kid. They all blinked and thought 'How did we not see him?' Superman turned around to see what everyone was staring at just in time to see a blue mist leave the boy's mouth. The boy's head wiped toward the training room so fast he could have given himself whiplash. He then darted out of the room; the leaguers looked at each other for a split second before they were out the door following the kid.
-Danny POV-
They had come; the Ghosts had finally found me! Maybe I could ask one of them how long I had been in the facility. My mind paused for a second Ok that is just sad that I am so desperate for news that I don't care that my enemies have possibly found me.
I got to the training room just as the portal appeared I smirked it was Clockwork, should have known. I heard the people from the other room enter the room and approach the portal. I held my hand out hoping to stop them from getting to close to the portal. As all portals, even Clockworks, are unstable until they were fully formed. I was however surprised when the first thing out of the portal was not Clockwork but Cujo. I was not however surprised by Cujo's reaction to seeing me. He jumped on be and began to lick my face while I was occupied trying to get the ghost puppy off my face two more ghosts came through. I heard a deep chuckle that was almost like a growl.
At that I pulled Cujo off my face and held him in my arms so he could not jump on me again. I smiled at Frostbite and Clockwork. I took a step back and dropped Cujo as Frostbite picked me up in one of his famous hugs that left the one being hugged gasping for breath. He eventually let me go but he looked at me concerned that I had not made a sound.
Frostbite eyed me for a minute before he asked "Why are you not speaking Great One? Did they take your voice from you?"
I shook my head, gripped my thought, and then made a gesture that looked like clockworks portal opening.
Frostbite nodded in understanding then smiled "Perhaps Great One you should learn some sign language so you can communicate with people while your voice is gone."
I nodded that did sound like a good idea. I then tilted my head as I caught a glance of clockwork. He was floating next to a man with a yellow helmet and a blue outfit. They seemed to be having a conversation like they were old friends; they could be for all I knew. Frostbite turned to see what I was looking at he then gave Danny a smile.
"Ahh the doctor of fate, He and clockwork meet a few years back, and they somehow hit it off. I think that they bonded over watching things pass them by and not being able to help, that and they both live secluded lives in towers."
I nodded Clockwork would become friends with someone like that. They were alike in many ways, even I could tell from just looking at this Doctor Fate. I suddenly smiled and raced toward Clockwork picking Cujo up on the way. I got behind Clockwork and dropped Cujo on his head before I darted back to Frostbite to hide behind him. Clockwork jumped at the sudden weight on his head and reached up to pull the ghost dog off his head. As Clockwork held Cujo in front of his face the dog gave him a great big puppy kiss causing him to drop Cujo, who upon being released darted back to me. The leaguers that followed me into the room were showing various states of amusement, a man in a red and white-ish uniform had the most violent reaction turning into a puddle on the floor from laughing so hard, who knew someone could do that?
Superman, glad I know his name now, walked up to Frostbite and bowed to the yeti before speaking.
"I am sorry to disturb you but could you please explain who you guys are, how you got here and why you are here?"
"Ahh, Sorry about that man of steel. I am known as Frostbite leader of the Far Frozen clan, the one talking to your Dr. Fate is known as Clockwork the master of time, the dog is named Cujo. As for how and why we are here. The Great One was taken from us about eight months ago and the whole zone has been searching for him. We had been unable to detect him until a few weeks ago but we could not narrow down where he was located. So when we felt a massive surge of power that matched the Great One's signature Clockwork immediately started to figure out where he was.
"And as you saw a short while ago Clockwork made a portal to take us to the location that the Great One let off his power. Cujo was the first to jump through the portal and you know the rest."
I was shocked I had been in the facility for eight months no wonder my powers were unstable. My guess would be that the cuffs that prevented me from using my powers also prevented the ghosts from finding me. I was brought out of my thoughts when superman asked another question.
"Why do you call him Great One?"
By this point in the conversation Clockwork and Dr. Fate decided to join us. They were side by side and I knew Clockwork was glaring at me for putting Cujo on his head.
"I call him Great One because he is the one who defeated Pariah Dark single handedly. It was an honor to teach him how to use his Ice core when it activated."
At that statement Dr. Fate seamed to stumble a bit and then turn to, I am guessing here full face mask and all, glare at Clockwork. I smiled at the sight and would have laughed if not for the burning pain in my thought. Clockwork looked at me and smiled before he spoke.
"Daniel you currently have two options available to you. You can either return to the Zone and stay with one of us, or you can remain here with the permission of the league. And to stop the question forming in your mind no we will not let you stay by yourself in the Zone."
I merely arched an eyebrow and gave Clockwork a look that could only be translated as 'Do I look that dumb?'. I know I can't live on my own in the zone. I can't even call for help with my voice the way it is right now, so why the Hell is he telling me? Or is there supposed to be a warning in there. Frostbite said that the whole Zone has been looking for me, but it could be a threat from outside the Zone, but the only threat outside the Zone I can think of would be the GIW and they probably already know where I am. Then again I am IN SPACE for crying out loud they can't reach me here without being intercepted by the league. On the other hand I don't really know anyone here, but I don't know if my enemies will attack me right now if I return to the zone …
-Third person POV-
Both the ghosts and the leaguers watched the boy in front of them. His eyes gained a far off look as he got lost in the internal debate he was having. While the boy, Danny, was lost in his thoughts the ghosts moved a slight distance away and conversed with each other. Superman with his hearing could make out an argument about there the dog Cujo would go if Danny stayed at the watchtower. Superman walked toward them and asked what the dog was capable of as it would probably not want to leave Danny. He was then informed that the dog could turn into a six foot tall Hellhound if someone got him angry or threatened something of his. Superman shrugged and told them of his own dog, Krypto, who had all of his powers, saying that they could probably handle the ghost puppy. The ghosts nodded and rejoined the group just as Danny came out of his thoughts to give his decision.
CLIFFHANGER! MUHAHAHAH!
What will happen? Where will Danny stay the league or the Zone? How long will Danny have to use sign langue to communicate? And what is up with Plastic Man? WHO KNOWS
I would like to thank MyOu LiFe for their review with the Founders personalities. It helped a lot.
Please note that updates will slow with collage now interfering and my brain focusing on other things. Sorry to say school must come before FanFiction. :'(
