Chapter 4 Decisions decisions

'Various peoples' thoughts'

-Danny's POV-

I came out of my thoughts to see everyone staring at me. 'I really have to stop zoning out like that it will only lead to trouble if I can't think and remain aware of what is around me.' I looked at everyone and tried to express my decision to remain with the League through various hand gestures. I was failing based on the looks of confusion I was getting.

Sighing I tried to think of another way to tell them that I wanted to stay with the League 'really need to learn sign language It would be so much easier or I could walk around with a notepad and write what I want to say'. The league should be able to help with my recently developed fear of some people and the color white. Finally I just walked over to Superman and sat down near him hoping that that would get them to understand. Apparently they did as they all nodded and Clockwork smiled.

Clockwork then took a step closer to me and said "Worry not about your town Daniel, your friends are protecting it well and have recruited the red Huntress to help. Everyone is alive and well. Your powers will return to normal in a few more days, though your voice will take longer." I nodded and hugged Clockwork trying to convey my thanks for the news on my friends. Clockwork just patted me on the head before creating another portal and walking through it Frostbite followed after giving my another near bone-crushing hug. The league and I watched as the portal closed behind Frostbite and Clockwork.

I let out a sigh before I picked up Cujo and got to my feet. I nodded to the others then vanished into thin air taking the puppy with me, leaving the leaguers to stare at the spot I had been occupying.

I made my way back to my room so I could show Cujo where he would be staying, it also got me away from what I assumed would be a BIG question session with the League. I just did not feel up to that just yet, especially with my powers still unstable for the next few days. Once they stabilized, and I knew I would not just go through the floor or lose my pants, I would talk to them, or write as the case may be.

-with the league- - third person POV-

The members of the Justice League blinked at where the boy and dog had been moments before. Most just shrugged the Clock guy had mentioned that the kid had powers, even if they were unstable at the moment, it also explained some of the occurrences with the child simply disappearing. Just as everyone was going to leave Dr. Fate stopped them. Dr. Fate told them that he knew where the boy originated now that he had seen Clockwork and the title that Frostbite had called him. Batman nodded and asked if they could discuss this in the meeting room. Fate nodded and walked out of the room, the others following shortly after.

The League made good time getting to the meeting room, and the first thing Batman did was to pull up the security footage of the room the child had been using. When it came up they saw the child sitting on the bed with the puppy lying on his lap. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts while absently petting the puppy. Nodding to himself Batman turned to Dr. Fate for his explanation.

"Now we all know that we have been unable to find out the name of the kid we have been taking care of. Fortunately our visitors today told us who the child is. The child's name is Danny Phantom. He is the self-proclaimed Hero of Amity Park. Now this in itself would not warrant the title that Frostbite gave him. He earned that title among Frostbite's people because he defeated the former king of the Ghost Zone by himself. The king of the Ghost zone was locked away in what is called the sarcophagus of sleep never to awaken after he tried to destroy both the ghost Zone and the mortal realm. It is said that the King was the strongest ghost in existence and to lock him away required twelve of the most powerful ghosts working together. Even then over half of them were killed in the battle."

The league blinked and then looked at the still running security tape. The child had burrowed under the blankets, the puppy was nowhere to be seen though there was a shape moving under the covers near his feet, looking nothing like someone that could defeat the most powerful ghost known. The League returned their attention to Fate as he continued.

"When Phantom first appeared he showed only three powers, those of flight, Invisibility, and intangibility. As time went on he gained new powers, including ghost rays, shields, and Ice powers. During this time He appeared to me a mostly benevolent spirit with only a few malevolent acts. However if you look at those closely you will notice that some things are off which leads me to believe that he was most likely Framed for those or in one case controlled. He has caused a lot of property damage but that was usually when he fought the ghosts that plagued the town."

The rest of the League nodded at that point they knew that fights had a habit of causing a lot of damage, especially when you were just starting out.

"That however is the extent of the information I have on him. I did not recognize him before because I could never get an accurate description of him. For some reason I always got conflicting descriptions."

While Dr. Fate talked Batman was sitting at another computer imputing the child's name into the search database. Just as Fate finished talking batman pulled up all the information that the computer had found. They spent the next few hours going over all the information to ensure that they could both take care of the kid and possibly help him if his powers got out of control.

- Time skip Two days later - - third person POV –

Danny finally left his claimed room with Cujo following behind him. His first stop was to find some kind of pad and a writing utensil. After a few minutes of searching Danny found what he was looking for and then continued to the cafeteria that he had once followed Superman to. He was hoping to find someone he recognized so he could explain some things. He had a feeling that Fate had told them who exactly he was; it was hard to hide things from a group of superheroes. Thankfully the two day wait in his room had given his powers the time they needed to stabilize; he now had full control over his powers. However his throat was still damaged. He could speak if he need to, but it hurt for him to speak. He had a bad feeling that something was going to set Cujo off and he would need to calm him down. Unfortunately the dog did not respond to hand signals once he got going.

When he finally reached the cafeteria Danny turned invisible just before he phased through the door, Cujo followed shortly after. He looked around the room searching for anyone he recognized. He spotted Superman sitting with a Woman wearing a swimsuit that looked like an American flag, a man in a black and green suit, and a man in a red suit with a lightning bolt on it. (Shame on anyone who does not know who these people are) Danny began to make his way across the room towards Superman and his companions still invisible while being careful not to run into anyone. Halfway there Cujo ran towards Superman. He then jumped on Superman and knocked him out of his seat, much to everyone's surprise. Superman let out a laugh and carefully picked the puppy up by the collar.

Looking at the puppy Superman asked "Where is your owner? I doubt that you would go far without him little pup." Cujo squirmed in superman's grip and wagged his tail. Danny smirked and got close to Superman before he picked Cujo out of his hand with a combination of invisibility, which was still on in Danny's case, and intangibility.

Superman blinked when the puppy disappeared from his hand, before he smiled and said "So you finally came back out, Danny."

A slightly smiling Danny came into visibility beside Superman holding a squirming Cujo in his arms.

"You here to tell us about yourself kid?"

Danny nodded and placed Cujo on the floor bringing the notepad and pencil out from their hiding spots and tapped the pencil on the pad. However before anyone could ask a question Danny was picked up by the back of his suit. Startled Danny lashed out and hit the man holding him hard enough in the chest that they dropped him. As soon as Danny hit the ground he took off turning invisible as he went. None of the League got the time to look for Danny because Cujo had attacked the Leaguer who had picked up Danny. Most of the League was caught by surprise when the cute, friendly puppy suddenly turned into a huge vicious guard dog.

It took the league five minutes to get Cujo off of the man and stop attacking him. Once they did Cujo growled at the man and jumped through the wall. Superman sighed and turned to the Leaguer who had picked Danny up. He was lying on the floor trying to catch his breath both from being attacked and from Danny hitting him.

Taking a deep breath to calm down Superman looked at the downed leaguer and said "What gave you the idea to pick up the kid. We sent out a notice over two weeks ago to leave him alone unless he approached you."

"That thing is nothing but an abomination! How can you even think that it belongs here?"

"What makes you think that that kid is an abomination? Is it because he is not human, if it is you are going to have problems with a lot of people on this ship."

"HE IS A GHOST! ONE OF THE DEAD! HOW CAN HE BELONG HERE!"

Superman shook his head "How is it that a crime that can be held against him. No one can ask to stay behind in this world. That child that you just scared out of his wits had no choice in whether he stayed or went. I know for a fact that people don't like the fact that he even stayed behind! HE CAME HERE LOOKING LIKE SOMEONE HAD DRAGGED HIM THROUGH HELL A FAW TIMES!." Superman narrowed his eyes " You had better think hard on how you look at people Hawk or you will find yourself restricted from the watchtower."

Superman then turned and walked towards the door muttering about having to wait another two days before Danny would come out of hiding so they could ask him some questions. Everyone in the Cafeteria looked at him with wide eyes, and scurried out of his way, it was never good to get on the bad side of someone who had the strength to literally snap you in half, especially when said hero was nearly Impossible to get mad.

– – Slight Time skip – –

Superman was Standing in the security room trying to figure out where Danny had run off to. He had immediately checked the room that Danny had occupied for the past two weeks, he was saddened to find that Danny had already stripped the bed and left no evidence of where he had gone, or that he had even occupied the room. Superman had the tech crew (read more computer oriented people in the league) cycle through the cameras to see if they could spot Danny They had no luck until one of the cameras showed a small patch of Ice in a less used corridor. He asked the tech guys if they could get a better look at that corridor. As the camera changed they room was startled to see that the entire hallway was covered in ice. The ice seamed to come from one specific door in the hallway, they could tell because the door was sealed shut with ice covering it completely. The Tech guys informed Superman that they did not have any cameras in that room so they could not see what was going on. The only reason they could monitor Danny before was because Batman had placed the camera after the child had settled in the room. Despite wanting to go to the child immediately, Superman knew that he would not get a response from the child if he did. He had a feeling that the ice was a defense against people who tried to hurt Danny and it was merely an instinctive defense mechanism that protects him from harm.

A hour later against his better judgment Superman was headed for the hallway that Danny had iced over. As he stepped into the Hallway Superman noticed that even though the area was covered in ice the temperature did not reflect it. The ice crunched beneath his feet as Superman approached the door that he assumed Danny was hiding behind. Strangely as he approached the door the ice surrounding it seemed to melt as a rapid pace, and after only a few seconds he could enter the room. Carefully opening the door, it was not working so he had to open it manually, Superman looked into the room. He was startled to see that Cujo was frozen in an icicle not three feet from the door, He had been running towards it, and Danny was laying in the middle of the floor curled into as tight of a ball as he possibly could shaking. Superman approached Danny carefully thinking that he probably would not be able to get Cujo out until Danny had calmed down. He stopped a few feet away from Danny and sat down on the floor where Danny could see him when Danny decided to uncurl from his ball. Superman then began to softly talk to Danny hoping that Danny was still trusting enough of people on the watchtower to relax around him. Slowly Danny stopped shaking and slightly uncurled from his position. Danny glanced in Superman's direction and then relaxed completely as he recognized who was sitting near him. When Danny was finally calm the ice that surrounded the two of them shattered and then faded into nothing, behind him Superman heard a thump as Cujo ran into the door. Carefully Superman picked Danny up and carried him to the bed that was in the room. He was startled however when a white ring appeared around Danny's waist for a second before it disappeared. Ignoring the strange phenomenon for now Superman covered Danny in the blankets that the child had somehow dragged to the room. Danny immediately gripped the blankets and curled up in them. Nodding to himself Superman backed out of the room before he walked to the command center.

– – Command Center – –

As Superman walked into the command center he was greeted by the rest of the league. Superman scowled at some of the league members as he made his way towards the rest of the founders. When he reached them he turned to Batman and asked him if the people who had captured and tortured Danny had all been captured. Batman nodded in response.

Superman signed in relief "Now I can tell the kid that at least he does not have to worry about those people coming after him."

Flash nodded "Ya that will probably help the kid calm down. I mean a lot of us have enemies that would love to do some of that crap to us, and we always rest easier knowing that they are locked up."

Superman turned to Batman " Can you hold off on putting your cameras in the kids room for a few days just to let him calm down. Hawk Caused the kid to panic and I found him in a completely frozen room that was caused by his powers. I want to give Danny some time to calm down."

Superman paused in his thoughts "Even the little puppy that has not left his side was frozen in block of ice when it happened. The kid is powerful no doubt about that. I think we just don't see him use his full power all that often and it leads to us thinking he is just a weak child growing into his power."

Flash blinked in confusion before asking "If the kid has so much power why have we not seen it?"

Lantern was the one who responded to Flash's question "It could stem from the fact that while he was captured if he did show his power he was hurt because of it. So eventually it became a reflex to hide what he could do."

Batman joined in "It could also be a case of Danny being afraid of his own power."

Superman nodded "Lets just leave him be for now, and hope that when Danny comes out of the room on his own we will still have some of his trust."

AND DONE!

I know it has been a while but between the coding for one of my classes and other things I have not been able to write much Now that I am on winter break I hope to get more chapters out.
