Once Dan finally reached the back of the group, he saw people walking in the direction of the bunk houses, he decided he would also make his way back, it was a short walk back, and once there Dan found a large tree to sit under, a wave of exhaustion suddenly washed over him and his eyelids grew heavy.

Everything seemed dark, Dan could tell he was in a city, he was stood on a slated rooftop, and in the distance he could see the huge silhouettes of what he believed to be titans. Suddenly a number of people sped past him using 3DMG, he didn't see their faces, but he soon recognised the one with black pigtails, time suddenly sped up, and in the space of a few seconds he saw a titan leap out and devour one of the soldiers, then one by one the group chased after the titan that had killed him. at this point the passage of time seemed to slow to a crawl. Dan saw a smaller titan grab Mina's cable, he watched her be catapulted into the side of a building, and heard the crack of several bones.

Dan began to run towards her, but he was only moving on the spot, he felt his heart rate quicken, and his breath became short, suddenly another soldier swooped down and grabbed her, before escaping beyond Dan's vision. He breathed a sigh of relief and his heart began to return to normal speed. Then the scenery started to move around him, and he realised he was heading towards where the soldier had gone. He was not prepared for what he saw next. The soldier had his back to him, and Mina was kneeling side on from him, with her head down, he saw the soldier move, and switched his focus back to him, just in time to see he had his sword held in both hands above his head.

"no."

The soldier hesitated

Mina yelled something that Dan didn't hear

The soldier chopped downwards

"NO!"

Dan's eyes snapped open, and he violently lurched forwards. Pain exploded across his face, and he heard a yelp, before quickly leaning away from whatever hit him, causing the back of his head to make sudden contact with the tree he had been resting against.

"FUCK!" he screamed out in pain and surprise before rubbing the back of his head with one hand, and his nose with the other.

"What hit me…?" he muttered, opening his eyes for whatever he had head butted, someone was sitting on the ground in front of him rubbing their knee, his vision was slightly blurry, so it took him a second to recognise that Mina was sat across from him, her eyes closed and her mouth formed a thin grimace

"Shit! I'm so sorry" he apologised "I haven't broken anything have I?"

"It's fine" she smiled at him "I would think you're in more pain than me."

Dan smiled and rubbed the back of his head,

"I'm fine" he replied "I'm sure there will be a few more knocks than this before trainings done"

She giggled "Anyway, I was heading for dinner when I saw you, probably good too, you might have slept through it"

Dan laughed a little, he then noticed that it was getting near dusk, and the sun was disappearing behind a mountain. He got to his feet and offered his hand to her

"You sure you're ok?" he asked as she accepted the offer and he pulled her up

"Stop worrying, as you said, there's going to be a lot worse than this"

They both headed for the mess hall and lined up for their food, after getting what looked to be the same meal as yesterday Dan turned around and saw Mina beckoning him over. He went to her and she motioned to the seat next to her, he complied and sat down.

"Dan,"

he turned to look at her, she leaned back, so he could see the person on her other side, he felt his stomach drop, and his mouth become as dry as a desert, fear washed over him again.

"This is Annie, she's my bunkmate" Mina said innocently

"We've met" The little blonde interjected dryly.

"W-well I suppose this is an actual meeting..." Dan laughed nervously "I'm D-Dan nice to meet you" He offered his hand

She completely ignored him, and ate a spoonful of her meal, Dan withdrew his hand and Mina leaned forward again and gave him a confused look, Dan shrugged and began to eat his meal.

"Look at him" Dan turned so he could hear the conversation "He had such a big mouth yesterday, saying he'd kill all titans..." Dan began to zone out, He knew they were talking about Eren.

'They'll be shut up tomorrow' he thought and quietly chuckled to himself before continuing his meal.

Later that night Dan was lying in his bunk, staring off into space, his mind was focused on the dream he had earlier, there were so many questions

'What was it?'

'Why did it seem so real?'

'Who was that soldier?'

"And why did he kill her?" he spoke his final question, He dismissed it as just a dream, mainly out of hope, that did cause him to think about something else though, now that he was here would he be able to change things, could he save his friend's? Mina, Marco and what about Annie, could he stop her, and if not, would there be a way to let people know what she was without letting people know about himself, if people found out that he wasn't really from here, and that this was all fiction where he was from how would they react? Would they think he was crazy? Well that was the most likely result, there was a very slim chance someone like Armin would believe him, but how would he react.

Dan decided that even if he decided to tell someone, now was far too early and so he pushed it all to the back of his mind and slowly drifted into sleep.
