We had been walking for a bit when we came across another spirit. He muttered to himself, unaware of his observers, about the tragedy of this 'Hyrule'. Hyrule must be the kingdom we are in. I look to my lupine companion. Shock is, somehow, clear as day on its face.
I look around, scanning for a way to continue over the rooftops. I spotted a wooden rafter. It was too high for the wolf to jump, until I spotted a box. I'd rather not spend any more time here than I have to.
Walking towards the wolf, I pick him up by the scruff, Tricking on top of the rafter. As I set the transformed beast down, he shakes his head, most likely to regain his sense of balance.
We jumped down, alerting the flying black beast. It was most likely transformed by this 'Twilight' as well. That wouldn't stop me from cutting it down though.
~Fight Start~
One decided to try blindsiding me, flying to attack from behind. A sound plan, were it not my superior senses. Flipping over it, I unleash a Judgement cut.
"Down you go" I say as I land. But instead of the sphere I had grown accustomed too, I was surprised to see multiple sword like marks, appear in the space the beast occupied.
'What is happening?' I thought with worry, 'Am I getting weaker.'
My Judgement cut hasn't look like that since my time in Fortuna City. I looked back at the beast, my ire rising because of this event.
The beast had taken my momentary lost in thought to right its self, flinging its self at me. I rip Yamato out of her saya, cutting the monster in two.
~Fight End~
Now that the beast is dead, I turn my focus inward. Feeling that my power is slowly getting weaker, I resolve to figure it out.
As if sensing my dilemma, Midna decided to further my irritation.
"Aw, what's wrong Vergil? Are you losing your power?" Midna said.
I contemplated cutting her down, but decided against it. It wouldn't help anyone if she were to die here. Instead, I opted to glare at her; she wouldn't get away with it.
As we continue, I look around for possible foes. In a different world, it is required to think that everyone is your enemy. Unless they prove otherwise, it is better to keep a close eye on them.
"Well, come on then you two. There is someone I need you to meet." Midna told us, I am beginning to think that she may be the enemy. She pointed to a tower not far off from where we are.
Enemy or not, Midna seemed to know her way around, and could very well be our only way out. Ally or not, we would find out. And so we began our walk once more, carefully moving across the rooftops, until we had come across a gap.
As before I tricked over it, and the wolf used Midna as target practice for leaping. As the wolf landed, I thought to myself about this predicament.
'I fell unconscious as I was falling in the Demon World. Was saved by Midna, but awoke in a dungeon cell. A dungeon cell, which was connected to a sewer. A person transformed into a wolf by this 'Twilight'. And to conclude this state we are in, I am growing weaker by the minute. How long until I am back to being just a newly awoken Devil in terms of power?'
The very thought of having to reattain my power, power that I had earned through my blood and tears, worried me. I was lost in my musings enough that the wolf had to nudge my leg to gain my attention.
I simply glance down at the wolf, and began walking again. I noticed that the wind was beginning to pick up, enough that the wolf had to brace himself. As if this small breeze enough to move me.
We had come upon a bridge, but something wasn't right. My lupine companion had tried walking across it, when what little support there was gave way. With speed faster than any normal human could perceive, I grab the beast by his neck and lifted him up.
I pulled him back and set him to eye level. My cold glare was more than enough to send a message to the transformed person.
"Don't just walk across bridges that have unseen support." I warn "Only put enough pressure to test it stability, if and only IF, the bridge support is unseen. If it doesn't give way then it is safe to cross."
With that I put him down, turning my attention to the now free floating bridge. The wind has gotten stronger than I last check.
Gingerly applying pressure to the bridge, it gave slightly. I scowled, immediately after I pull my foot back, the bridge fell.
'So, it would seem that the bridge is now supported by the wind.' I thought 'Shoddy craftsmanship, the entire castle is falling to pieces.'
As the wind picked up, I charged forward. Unleashing my devils arm faster than what humans can perceive. In mere seconds I cleared the bridge.
Grasping the pommel, I lined up Yamato with her saya. In one quick motion, I slammed her back into her home. Looking back to them, I see that they have gone slack jawed. I smirked at their reaction, it never gets old.
Who doesn't have a sense of humor now, Dante?
"Enough dawdling," I said, breaking them out of their stupor "Don't we have someone to meet, Midna?"
~Midna P.O.V~
I would have used my ability to warp to save the Human-turned-beast, if Vergil's hand hadn't shot out and grabbed him.
I was surprised that he did that, but as he lifted him to eye level, I saw the bridge fall, as the wind stopped. As Vergil lectured him, the wind started picking up again. He tested it's stability, I was hoping that he would fall through, but to mine, and my partners surprise, he let it fall back down.
I opened my mouth ask him why he let it do that, when the bridge was back up, floating in the wind. Vergil leaned forward kicking off with his left foot, and-CLEARED THE BRIDGE IN A SECOND!
He looked at us, and smirked! As if he had the right to be smug! He then motioned over, telling us to 'quit dawdling'.
The NERVE of that half-devil!
After the bridge was again floating in the wind, the little wolf ran across it
'Just bear with him, Midna, just until Zant is dealt with' I thought.
With that in mind, I took the lead again, looking toward the tower that holds my 'Informant'.
'It isn't going to be much longer, then I will rule my people again. Zant, you couldn't just let it go, could you?'
