-Family Getaway-
Lauren never spent much time in nature, but the first few days at camp proved incredibly refreshing. Her lungs absorbed the clean air with ease, washing away all reminders of polluted city air and the horrible toxins she breathed in daily. Her bare feet sunk comfortably into the cool soft soil, providing a gentle cushion to walk upon unlike the concrete streets back home. Her soul appreciated the echoes of peaceful quiet only found deep in the woods. It was quite the contrary to typical hectic hospital nights, or equally as hectic mornings when waking two children who preferred to sleep well past sunrise. Only the occasional twig breaking from a scampering critter or the tree tops swaying in the breeze filled her ears. Camping had truly proved to be everything Bo said it would be. Lauren had just not vocally admitted it yet.
Lauren curled her toes against the soft grass blanketing the camp site. She stretched her legs out before her, sinking further into the folding chair she had occupied for the past hour. Her head lulled back, resting only against the soft material strung between the chair supports. Despite wearing sunglasses, her eyes remained closed to block out any bit of daylight filtering through the treetops above. Yes, Lauren loved the sunshine, but this shaded part of their camp site had become her favorite place to unwind. She occupied the most comfortable folding camp chair at the site, her cold lemonade rested on a makeshift end table constructed from a chopped log, the cabin perched but a handful of steps to her left, and a sprawling, calm lake lie before her. Everything about this space put Lauren's body and mind at ease.
A flutter in her abdomen triggered Lauren to move her arm quickly. She slid her hand off the chair's arm and placed her palm flat against the thin cotton shirt covering her belly. Lauren smiled as she moved her hand gently back and forth. The motion of a gentle hand always soothed the twins growing inside her, and this moment was no different.
Lauren regularly spoke aloud to her unborn children but in this moment, she kept the silence and communicated only with her thoughts. Lauren's emotions were very much in tune with the twins' needs, and her thoughts were simply an unspoken, one-sided conversation with the two little ones as she patiently waited to make their entrance into this world.
With a smile on her face, Lauren's thoughts of her happy family drifted to random questions: were they having a gymnastics competition inside her or was one twin crowding the other? Would they behave like Charlotte or more like Ethan? And what about inherited characteristics from her or from Bo? One thing Lauren knew for certain was that their kicks from within always felt strong and fierce: traits the children surely inherited from both their mothers.
As she sat there lost in thoughts about the twins, Lauren's playful line of questions directed to the twins morphed into several more general thoughts. While protectively guarding her belly with both palms, Lauren remained quiet and scripted a silent post card to her unborn children. She told them details about the perfect fall afternoon temperature, the beauty of nature surrounding her, and how she could not wait for them to see it all for themselves. The amount of love she held for these babies always kept her smile bright. It was in moments like this that Lauren wished to keep them tucked away safely inside her forever, but there was always a part of her heart that jumped at the thought of the day she would finally meet them both.
Lauren had moments when recognition of having two more children intimidated her. Dozens of questions and thoughts of concern flooded through her when emotions ran high. Lauren never wanted to fail at being a parent. She and Bo had done quite well with Charlotte and Ethan thus far. She only wanted to do just as well with the twins once they arrived. Lauren had even gone so far as to prepare one hundred or so checklists since that fated night of love brought forth the start of their family expansion. It was her incessant need for planning that kept her nerves calm most days. That and Bo's constant pampering.
After that monumental Valentine's Day gift, it did not take long for Lauren and Bo to find out they were going to have more children and that is when Bo's caregiver approach soared to new heights. The brunette had always been an exceptional parent to their daughter and son, and she had proven through time that her dedication to Lauren was unyielding. Knowing the challenges Lauren faced throughout another pregnancy triggered Bo to elevate her game without hesitation. She took on extra chores, giving Lauren more time to relax and rest. She ran the children from family visits to friend sleepovers, allowing Lauren a break from travelling around the city. She cooked, she cleaned, and she even found time to give Lauren an unexpected, thoughtful gift almost every week. Something as simple as flowers or as elaborate as a spa visit greeted Lauren when she least expected it. Carrying a Fae child had been difficult for the blonde twice already, and they both anticipated carrying twins would be double the challenge. Fortunately, every bit of work Bo took on gave Lauren that much more time to avoid running herself into exhaustion.
Now twenty nine weeks into the pregnancy, Lauren thanked Bo for her support and strength by planning a surprise family camping trip. It was Bo's idea from long ago, and despite Lauren never wanting to step foot in a mosquito filled forest, this vacation was a gift specifically for Bo. Surprisingly, Lauren was enjoying it just as much as her other half.
The kids, well, they were beyond thrilled.
"Mama! Mama! Look at us!"
Charlotte's voice bounced off the lake and absorbed into the surrounding trees. Upon hearing her daughter's request, Lauren opened her eyes and stared directly ahead. On the lake, a canoe was in her line of sight, where Charlotte literally stood balanced on the canoe seat wearing a life vest one size too big. Ethan sat before her, his death grip on the boat's edges turning his knuckles as white as his sun bleached blonde hair. While Lauren's initial reaction was to scold her daughter for standing in a canoe, Lauren held back her voice when she immediately recognized Bo standing in the water, waist deep, and holding the canoe with one hand while holding Charlotte's arm with the other.
It was only a second later that Bo had Charlotte seated again before the brunette dragged the canoe completely on to shore. Charlotte's grin filled her expression with a joy evident to any who could see it. Ethan's fear faded the minute ground was safely under the boat again. His smile returned as he released his grip from the canoe.
Lauren rubbed her belly again, smiling joyfully as she stared upon her family. The swell of love and adoration not only filled her heart but her spirit as well. It was moments like this one when Lauren knew she'd fight through any barrier to protect her family. Having Bo as a partner was a once in a lifetime achievement in happiness. Having two children with Bo made Lauren feel like royalty. Now with two more on the way, Lauren felt like the luckiest woman alive.
It did not take long for Charlotte and Ethan to scamper from the boat in Lauren's direction. Charlotte wrestled with removing her life vest but Ethan wore his proudly. He had not taken it off since Bo fitted him with it that morning. That was nine hours ago. Lauren held back a laugh as she pictured him sleeping in it. Surely that would happen at some point during this trip.
Five steps ahead of Ethan, Charlotte bolted toward Lauren. Her full blown run across the camp site slowed to a softer, easier pace as she arrived at the doctor's side. Even though Charlotte was only six years old, she was well aware that Lauren was pregnant. Since the pregnancy was revealed, Charlotte always slowed her movements or used gentler mannerisms around Lauren. And despite just finishing a fun canoe ride around the lake, Charlotte treated this moment no different than all the rest.
Free from the life vest, Charlotte raised her left arm slowly and placed her open palm carefully against Lauren's belly.
"What are they doing in there, mama?"
Lauren placed her hand over Charlotte's.
"They're growing, so they can come out and meet you as their big sister."
Charlotte's smile grew wider. She glanced from her mother's eyes to where her hand rested, staring at Lauren's belly.
"Come out soon, guys!"
Charlotte's whispers carried a tone of excitement and compassion. Her softly spoken words nearly melted Lauren's heart. Both Lauren and Bo taught Charlotte and Ethan about caring for the ones you love and that certainly included the twins. Since the day Bo and Lauren told the kids they were going to have two baby brothers, Charlotte embodied the spirit of protector. She had done the very same thing with Ethan, but this time around she vocalized much more frequently.
Lauren gently squeezed Charlotte's hand as she smiled. This tiny brunette was definitely Bo's daughter: strong, confident and brave. Her gentle yet proud demeanor as she stood there waiting for her baby brothers to someday make an appearance was just one of dozens of occasions that proved Charlotte would be a true leader in this family. Those protector traits would certainly grow stronger as time passed.
Soaking wet, Bo stood a few paces away, returning the smile that Lauren now cast toward her. She heard Charlotte's conversation with Lauren's belly but refrained from commenting. Nothing but gratitude flowed from her heart at being privy to such a sweet, innocent moment. Witnessing the loves of her life simply existing in this space at this place in time was more than Bo could ever hope for. She placed her own open palm over her heart, trying to slow down the explosion of happiness emanating from her chest.
The brunette cast a playful wink to Lauren, garnering the same from the doctor. But there was something more to Lauren's wink and Bo saw it immediately. Her smile curled up slightly higher on the right as her eyes narrowed. Lauren's aura lit up like a Christmas tree and Bo knew right then what Lauren was saying privately to her.
Bo held her breath momentarily when a short lived flash of blue eyes surfaced. She squeezed her eyes shut tight, knowing well that the children would comment if they caught a glimpse of it. Forcing the browns to resurface, Bo reopened her eyes and stared in Lauren's direction.
Lauren saw Bo's flash of blue but the children did not. The doctor loved when Bo let her guard down: when those blazing blues appeared at the most random of moments. Not that Lauren didn't know when Bo was in the mood, because quite frankly she was a succubus, and that meant she was always in the mood. But since they had become a family, Bo had limited her feeding outside of their bedroom and unfortunately, Lauren's pregnancy had limited Bo's feeding inside their bedroom. She knew the brunette was hungry, and perhaps tonight Lauren could make Bo an offer that would satiate those cravings.
Lauren kissed Charlotte's head and then pulled Ethan closer and did the same. Ethan pulled himself out of her hug and wiped the kiss off his cheek.
"You two want to help me make dinner tonight? That way we can give mommy the special treat we have planned for her."
Both children agreed with excitement. Bo wrinkled her forehead as her curiosity surfaced.
"A special treat for me?" Bo asked Lauren.
Lauren nodded and smiled. "Just for you."

Later that evening
Flames danced low in the campfire, illuminating the nearby cabin and picnic table. Bo sat stiff on the edge of the picnic bench, unable to relax as the excitement and curiosity of her "special treat" built throughout the past few hours. A quick shower and change of clothes was followed by a fantastic fireside dinner that Lauren and the children prepared. It was nothing fancy, simply burgers and loaded baked potatoes on the side, but it all tasted delicious. Ethan had even carried Bo's plate to her at the picnic table as Lauren offered "full table service" for the brunette. The entire meal and presentation was much appreciated, despite Ethan allowing one potato to roll off the plate. Fortunately it was a laughable moment.
Dinner didn't stop there either. The children took to roasting the perfect golden brown marshmallows to place in between graham crackers and chocolate as a camp side favorite dessert. They built the biggest s'more Bo had ever seen, and she took pride in eating every last gooey bite of it as the sun set behind the nearby lake.
The children ate their s'mores faster than kids should eat anything, darting off into the cabin the moment Lauren excused them from the table. With the children absent, Lauren slid her hand on to Bo's, diverting the brunette's stare from the camp fire to the blonde beside her. She squeezed her hand gently and received a warm and caring smile from Bo.
"I'd ask you if you are ready for your special treat, but judging by your body language I'd say you are about to jump out of your skin."
Bo lowered her shoulders as she laughed. It was true: the curiosity was killing her but with practiced patience, Bo had refrained from asking for hints or clues even though she was in suspense of what Lauren and the children had planned. Finally relaxing her shoulders a bit, Bo pulled Lauren's hand to her lips and placed one loving kiss to her skin, never daring let go of the comfortable hold.
"I usually have an idea of surprises, but at this moment I am completely clueless. Dinner was wonderful, thank you for that."
Lauren nodded and glanced toward the cabin, pulling Bo's eyes in the same direction. The brunette heard the kids mumbling from inside the door they left wide open, but comprehendible words were scarce. Bo rubbed her thumb over Lauren's hand repeatedly. She never expected any surprises during this trip. Honestly, the trip itself was a wonderful surprise in and of itself.
Bo looked upon Lauren again, this time with a love struck gaze that said all the words stuck in the back of Bo's mouth. For months, Bo monitored Lauren's health as her pregnancy moved further along. She never hid her anxiety when Lauren had a pain or cramp; never held back her worry about Lauren's health or that of their unborn twins. So the last thing Bo expected was for Lauren to do anything that could further tire the already exhausted doctor. This trip was a gift, and a very special one at that. Much wanted family time away at camp was something Bo had craved. Being here and actually getting to experience it made Bo's heart swell with profound appreciation.
The cabin door slammed shut before Charlotte's little hand appear around the edge.
"Ready moms?"
"We're ready," Lauren called out.
With one quick squeeze to Bo's hand, Lauren slid a little closer to Bo and waited for the show to begin.
Lauren held back her laugh the moment Charlotte stepped out of the cabin. Wearing a homemade red cape and a paper crown, Charlotte stood tall and confident: like the super hero she was pretending to be. Ethan followed from behind. His homemade mask was crooked but still stayed affixed around his face. His left hand gripped a cardboard sword that had an obvious bend in the middle. He must have stepped on it in the cabin because Lauren made sure to pack it carefully in his suitcase.
While Lauren had seen these costumes several times prior, Bo was witnessing them for the first time. Her appreciation of whatever they were dressed as came forth as a mix of ooohs and giggles. She whispered a few words to Lauren while the kids positioned themselves front and center, preparing to present their somewhat rehearsed theatrical debut.
And it was just that: Charlotte and Ethan acting out a homemade play about superheroes that existed in the times of kings and queens; of knights and sword fights. Bo had no clue what the plot was to the play; Lauren knew there simply was no plot. It was nothing more than kids playing make believe, dressed up in capes and masks, and acting in front of their moms at camp. What a perfect night.
What a perfect family.
And it was her family.
And that made Bo's eyes water with joy.
xxxx
Bo doused the remaining embers with water, sending a sizzling steam into the air until the last of the campfire coals were thoroughly soaked. Without the light from the fire, the camp site carried a darkness as black as the far recesses of the sky. Lauren shifted in her chair slightly, tilting her head back a bit to admire the stars in between the treetops. Crickets and other woodland creatures chirped their repetitive sounds, creating an almost relaxing rhythm to the otherwise silent outdoors. It was the same relaxing sound that lulled both Charlotte and Ethan to sleep an hour ago. Ethan may have shed his life jacket from the canoe trip earlier in the day but he slept soundly wearing his superhero mask. With a little luck, the melodious tune from the surrounding trees would carry on throughout the night and keep the children tucked in their sleeping bags until the sun decided to make its morning appearance.
Satisfied that the fire was extinguished, Bo took Lauren's hand into her own, threading their fingers together in a familiar hold.
"Ready hon?" Bo whispered.
Lauren nodded, accepting Bo's help out of the chair as she stood from her seat. The blonde rubbed her own lower back. The extra weight from the twins was certainly trying at times, and this was one of those moments when Lauren felt her muscles strained from a full day of outdoor living.
Bo noticed her wince, immediately addressing Lauren with concern.
"You okay?"
Lauren nodded as she followed Bo toward the cabin's entrance.
"Yeah. Just a little sore. Mama needs to put her feet up. And I'm going to need a snack because these little ones inside me are starting to get hungry."
Lauren ended her statement with a smile, relaxing Bo's worry. The brunette placed her palm to Lauren's belly, rubbing it gently for a moment before she led Lauren to the cabin several paces away.
"Well then how about we crawl in bed, I give you a foot rub, and you can have a snack?"
Immediately outside the cabin door, Lauren halted her steps. The offer of a foot rub sounded incredibly inviting.
"Bo, I would absolutely love all of that."
xxxx
Bo secured the cabin door from within and checked on two sleeping little ones before joining Lauren in their cabin bedroom. She felt anxious; not in a bad way like you are dreading something but the complete opposite. This time away with Lauren and the kids had been wonderful; more wonderful than she could have ever hoped. Bo wanted to do everything she could to make Lauren enjoy this little vacation just as much. While foot rubs may not have been really necessary, they were something Bo was more than pleased to provide.
Snacks, however, were not optional. They were absolutely required.
A doctor, pregnant with two Fae children, always needed snacks. Bo was not going to deny her that.
Ever.
Stretched out on the cabin bed, Lauren kept a pillow propped behind her back while she watched Bo enter the room. The brunette's presence had the twins inside Lauren kicking quite a bit. Lauren simply shook her head and smiled.
"These two are very happy to see you," Lauren announced as she rubbed her belly while Bo shut the bedroom room.
"Oh yeah? What about you?" Bo asked as she crawled on the bed next to Lauren.
"I am the happiest," Lauren whispered as she placed a kiss to Bo's lips.
It was a gentle, thankful kiss for all Bo's consideration throughout the first twenty five weeks of Lauren's pregnancy. The blonde ran her fingertips over Bo's cheek, caressing the succubus lovingly as they shared a private moment basking in their love for one another. The sweet, intimate moment stretched through time as Lauren controlled the tempo. Not one kissed was rushed; not one touch was hurried. Their closeness grew as Bo slipped an arm around Lauren and held her with an air of protectiveness, but nothing escalated beyond their loving embrace. At least, not right away.
Lauren's heart rate rose steadily as she accepted each subsequent kiss with more hunger than the prior. Consciously she focused on the loving moment shared with Bo, despite the cravings building inside her. A part of her mind knew that Bo was aware of it, but the brunette's patience rivaled that of any saint.
Lauren pulled her lips away from Bo's; her forehead remained pressed against the brunette's. Lauren exhaled and inhaled with the same slow pace she set the moment Bo crawled on the bed, focusing most of her attention on delaying her own need to feed. As Lauren had learned rather quickly during her first pregnancy, carrying an incubus or succubus child required Lauren to consume chi. Not only did it provide health benefits to Lauren in the way of less aching joints and more strength delivered directly to her muscles, it also aided the babies growing inside her. After all, they were fae children and without chi, the twins became stressed, and stress upon Lauren triggered all sorts of health struggles.
Bo moved her lips to Lauren's jaw, lining her skin with kisses while she waited for Lauren to take what she was desperately trying to delay. She let a low hum ring through the back of her throat, just enough to announce she was enjoying this private time together, and all the closed eyes and slow breaths in the world would not delay Lauren's hunger forever.
"You're so beautiful."
Bo's whisper floated to Lauren's ears; the only pause she took from kissing Lauren as those few loving words were spoken.
Lauren smiled as she slightly turned her head, giving Bo a bit more neckline to douse with kisses. Her heart beat at a much more rapid pace now. She could feel the heat burning behind her closed eyelids from the glow of blue begging to escape. All it would take is a simple turn of her head again to capture Bo's lips in her own.
Her joint aches would cease the minute she had a snack, which had now become her priority. Perhaps it was the way Bo returned that kiss while stretched out on the bed. Or perhaps it was a physiological response driven by the cravings building within. But even just their closeness triggered Lauren's fists to tighten, tugging Bo's shirt material in a ball within her grasp.
Each breath intensified their kiss, and each grasp pushed Bo's composure dangerously out of reach. Her eyes burned blue behind those closed eyelids, and the softness of Lauren's lips mixed with the building passion to blur Bo's control. Fortunately for the brunette, it was the doctor steering this moment and Bo needed to do nothing but simply enjoy the ride.
In a flash, Lauren pulled a blue stream of light from Bo's lips. She feasted on her nighttime snack quickly, inhaling Bo's chi to create a swirl of energy buzzing within her. It immediately boosted her strength while simultaneously minimizing the sore aches her body held for the past several hours.
Bo never failed to provide Lauren as much chi as the blonde needed. Even though the doctor could easily feed from someone else, Bo insisted she take chi solely from her. The brunette claimed it helped her feel more involved with Lauren's pregnancy, and Lauren never could argue with that.
The downside was that Lauren needed a lot of chi, and daily consumptions from Bo alone took a toll on the succubus, who needed her own chi for survival. Fortunately, Lauren cooked up a solution to this dilemma during her pregnancy with Charlotte. That same solution was used during her pregnancy with Ethan, and both Lauren and Bo certainly had no issues using it again.
Lauren stopped pulling the blue stream from Bo's lips, slowing her kisses while the brunette took a few deep breaths to recoup a bit of her lost energy. Lauren's body was at its most comfortable immediately after gaining a taste of chi, while Bo was at her most exhausted from the loss of her own energy.
Lauren felt amazing. Her body, mind and spirit felt refreshed and she could have easily laid there to enjoy the sensations coursing through her. But Lauren knew that Bo did not feel that way in that moment, as Bo had just given up a lot of her own chi to Lauren. And so without taking much of a pause, Lauren slid out from her hold and grabbed the tiny glass vial sitting on the stand next to the bed. With the flick of her thumb, she popped off the lid and carefully set the container back on the stand.
Shifting back into Bo's embrace, Lauren smiled as Bo allowed a quiet, throaty growl to escape. The scent from the glass vial immediately wafted around the women, filling the air space surrounding their bed. Bo rolled onto her back, sliding one hand under her head and settling against the pillow with a growing desire. Laying on her side, Lauren slid one arm over Bo's abdomen and pushed aside her shirt, gently caressing the brunette's skin as she began her quest to refuel Bo's depleted energy.
With a heightened desire to please her partner, Lauren's wandering hand explored the familiar terrain of Bo's body. She drew out the moment slightly, wanting to avoid rushing through any of their private time together. Lauren sought out Bo's most sensitive zones, adjusting her touches from gentle to possessive from one moment to the next.
It elevated Bo's arousal, making the succubus uncontrollably shift her body as her patience began to wane. The scent from the nearby vial of pink liquid filled her lungs with every breath, and Lauren's touches ignited her needs to a point that felt electric. While she was enjoying the slow burn Lauren had created, the succubus was ready for that electricity to spark and fill her depleted chi levels. A smirk formed on Bo's face as she reached for Lauren's hand and moved to exactly where the brunette wanted it. And the moment Lauren touched her in the way only the doctor knew how, Bo exhaled a moan that lit a fuse on fire.
The blonde smiled with pride as Bo muttered an "oh fuck" through her breathing. Lauren's talented fingers provided just what Bo wanted: a perfectly orchestrated, progressive rhythm that created a euphoric sensation. The room was glowing blue from the light streaming from Bo's eyes. Lauren's continued attention to pleasing her partner was unrelenting. She was turned on by Bo's arousal, and Lauren's own body began reacting to Bo's responses. She felt it was only moments before Bo reached her peak, and so with the quietest of whispers, Lauren said "kiss me," knowing it would send Bo right over the edge.
Following Lauren's request, Bo tilted her head and leaned into Lauren, finding her lips and sparking the electricity around them. It wasn't always the same routine, but there were always two necessary components: the small vial of pink liquid filling the air with Lauren's scientific creation, and a climactic physical moment for the brunette. The combination of the two provided all the necessary elements to replicate the intake of chi, and in that moment, Bo's body flooded with the same sensation a draw of chi would have created.
Bo's body shook with pleasure. She broke their kiss as she moaned out incoherent words through her heavy breaths. Her energy levels spiked as pleasure coursed through every nerve fiber in her being. She took in every second of the moment, drawing in the maximum amount of euphoria she possibly could. No one had ever made her feel the way Lauren did, and Bo knew there were no couples, human or fae, who could ever compare to the two of them.
Lauren read Bo's responses well, following through on keeping a steady pace until she felt Bo relax back into the pillow. Lauren slowed her movements, giving Bo time to enjoy her enchanted sensations and her recouped chi levels. She snuggled in to Bo, wanting nothing more than to stay in this moment for as long as she possibly could.
The passion between them evoked emotional responses from Bo every time they shared private moments together. Her heart was racing, overcome with a mix of excitement, pleasure and unrivaled love. There were no words to truly express her feelings for Lauren and the family she had given them. Bo wrapped a strong arm around Lauren, holding her close as they shared slow, love filled kisses with one another.
"I love you," Lauren whispered against Bo's lips.
"I love you more," Bo immediately replied.
Lauren smiled and shook her head. She returned several more kisses to Bo until they simply laid in each other's arms, enjoying the comfortable silence between them. They stay snuggled together for some time, until the threat of sleep became evident.
Without saying a word, Lauren freed herself from Bo's grasp. She capped the glass vial still resting on the bedside table, taking care to not spill any of its contents. With the vial safely closed, Lauren took comfort next to her love once more, moving the blankets this way and that until she was settled in for the night.
Bo slid her hand onto Lauren's belly, gently rubbing it with a protective nature. Lauren placed her hand on top of Bo's, loving the closeness they shared in moments like these. The doctor knew it wouldn't be too much longer until the twins were born. She was excited and nervous, but most of all, she was overcome with love. To have the most loving, loyal partner, and two amazing children already with two more on the way: yes, that made Lauren the happiest woman ever.
"I love sharing forever with you," Lauren whispered to Bo.
"Mmmmm, ditto baby. Maybe we can take our next family trip to that beach you wanted to visit?" Bo whispered.
Lauren smiled at Bo's thoughtfulness. Even Bo knew Lauren never wanted to come camping in the first place all those years ago when they first talked about it, and Lauren was always a beach lover.
"Actually, I think we should come camping again. Turns out, this is better than I could have ever expected."

As usual, I don't own the characters. I just created this random little story to put them in :)
