PSA: I am no longer doing story request or posting anything of that sort on Fanfiction. The only way this will change is if the policies for this site change. As of right now you can comment/review on anyone's story anonymously without any repercussions for your actions. Cyber bullying is at an all-time high here on FF. Anonymous reviewers are contacting, not only the author, but those who originally requested the story with death threats and slurs of many different kinds AND THERE IS NO WAY TO REPORT THEM. No disciplinary system here on this site. Constructive criticism is welcome but when you start attacking someone's character there is no excuse. I personally have been called fat several times from individuals who hide by the title of 'anonymous', I have been told to die and I have been threatened more times than I can count. This site and the individuals running it have successfully failed at doing their job. Writers no longer feel safe here and I will join the rest with moving on to something else soon. I am fairly displeased with FF as you can tell. Apologies to all of those who have requested recently. - Take care!
When Maka opened her eyes, she was on Stein's couch with ice-packs stuck to both sides of her face. The room was filled with familiar face, except Spirit and Soul. "mmm.." She groaned. "Hey.." Black Star's voice met her throbbing ears. "Welcome back... Scared us for a little bit there.. thought he knocked the shit outta' ya'."
"He did.." Maka groaned. Stein handed her a bottle of water and some Tylenol. "Where is Soul..?" She asked as she accepted his offering. Tsubaki poked her head around Black Star, who was taller than her. "Talking to your dad, and Lord Death."
"Oh.." Maka leaned back and sighed. Flashes of the battle played through her mind, kind of like a movie. "hey don't think about it, stupid." Black Star pinched her arm which earned him a look from Tsubaki. Maka rubbed over the neglected spot and looked at the blue ninja. "You.." She held her hands up much like a child wanting picked up would. He didn't hesitant, he sat on the edge of the couch and wrapped her up in his arms. "I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner.." Maka sniffled and hugged him tighter.
When he released her he handed her another flower, it looked just like the one she had before. "Thank you." He nodded and the door opened allowing Spirit to trample through the threshold. "Maka?!"
"Hey dad.." He practically shoved Black Star out of the way and latched onto her. "My poor baby, I'm so sorry I had no idea he was psychotic!"
"D..dad.." She choked out and Stein pulled him back just a bit, just enough for her to breathe. "Thank goodness you weren't alone!" Lord Death stepped into the room, as well as Soul. "S-soul!" Spirit hesitantly stepped aside and allowed Soul to sit on the edge of the couch. Instead of hugging him, she went straight to kissing him. His mouth, his cheeks, and then his mouth again. He smiled and returned her excitement tenfold. Stein cleared his throat and they parted, the look on Spirit's face was priceless. His mouth hung open and tears stained his cheeks. Stein patted him on the back and escorted him out of the room. "Black Star, Tsubaki.." He motioned for them to follow.
Tsubaki closed the door behind her, leaving Soul, Maka, and Death alone.
"Lord Death.." Maka started but he held up a hand to silence her, "No need.. None of this was your fault." Maka adjusted the cold pack on her right jaw and sighed. "Still.. I'm sorry."
Death nodded and took a seat at Stein's desk. "There is something we need to speak to you about.." Maka nodded and sat up the best she could. "Soul and I discussed the previous events ..and.. well.."
"We agree you shouldn't be doing this anymore."
Maka looked confused at first, "What exactly do you mean?" She looked between Death and Soul. Soul continued, "We me, you should..stay home.. for good this time." Maka stared at them for at least five minutes, "Why?"
"You've been hurt, several times. You're not taking the time necessary to heal."
"Well there has been a lot to do and no time for healing.."
"We understand that.." Death interjected. "However.."
"I want you to stay home.. let me work for a while. Give me some piece of mind." Soul spoke up. "I've volunteered to be Lord Death's Scythe, I can do it but I want to know you're safe."
"So you're shafting me?"
"No, Maka. No one is shafting you. Do you understand you could've died twice this month?!" She could sense his temper rising, "But Soul.. I.."
"Well at least try it out for a bit.. no need for everyone to get upset." Death put his hands up to emphasize. "Just stay home for a while and then we'll see how things go. Maka, I'm putting you on leave. Soul Eater, I want to see you in my office first thing Monday morning. As my new Death Scythe we have many things to discuss."
Maka cursed under her breath and Soul carried her home.
Once they stepped into the house he took her upstairs and laid her on his bed. "Soul.. I don't like this idea."
"I knew you wouldn't."
"I'm not a homebody... I go out and train .. and I fight."
"Staying home for a few weeks doesn't make you weak.."
Maka sighed and covered up, "Doesn't make me strong either.." Soul stripped down to his boxers and slid in next to her. "You're never going to let me take care of you, are you?" Maka curled up next to him and smiled, "Nope, probably not."
He kissed her head and stretched. "So what happened to the witches? To Kid?"
"Black Star killed the witches, which freed me and... well.. I went after Kid."
"...and?"
"I only injured him.. he managed to get away from me. He left Death City altogether." Maka laid her head on his chest and sighed, "Soul..what happens when a witch consumes the soul of a Death Scythe?"
He hesitated for a moment before continuing, "The result is far worse than any kishin we've ever been up against."
"Do you think he'll go after someone else?"
"More than likely.."
"What will we do then?"
Soul gently touched her face, "Well, more than likely, you'll jump to the challenge and I'll be chasing after you." Maka giggled and snuggled further into him, "You're the best Death Scythe a girl could ask for."
"You're mad." He chuckled and flipped the lamp off. "You're mad, too." she smiled and closed her eyes.
"Well, love is Madness." Maka laid on Soul, contently, for a few moments before lifting her head up abruptly. "What is it, Maka?"
"Where in the hell is Crona?"
