~Chapter 5~
~Milieu's POV~
We walked back to his house hand in hand, neither of us speaking. There was no need. We could have flown there, but walking gave us more time to be together. We got there an hour before Lune would be let out of school according to Jealousy, so we would have the house for ourselves for a while. He went into the kitchen to get us something to drink and I sat in the living room. I looked around the small space and noticed the big picture of Yamato Agari on the wall that looked almost like a shrine. I knew about Lune's crush on Yamato and about their past life together, though it still surprised me that 9 centuries later that connection was as strong as ever, even if Yamato didn't realize it fully yet. Jealousy came back with the drinks and looked at Yamato's picture when he saw me staring at it.
"Even though he was born in this more modern time, he still has the same personality and sense of justice and responsibility he had when he was a bandit."
He put the cups down when he said that, and I couldn't help but notice a slight yearning in his voice.
"You have a lot of respect on both of them don't you? Lune and Yamato."
He looked at me with a blush.
"Is it really that obvious? I like Lune. I actually get along better with him than I did with Iruma. He treats me like a person since he knows that I have my own thoughts and feelings, not like Iruma who only saw me as a toy and didn't care much about me. Yamato, well, I don't know. I just feel this peace and warmth whenever he's around. It feels nice."
He sat next to me and brought his knees up to his chest while he looked into his cup. I had noticed a tone of utter loathing and something else I couldn't decipher in his voice when he mentioned Iruma, but decided not to ask him. After analyzing this new information, I took the opportunity to really look at him….And caught myself staring.
Before going into the kitchen he had gone to his room and changed into a light blue long-sleeved sweater, and black leggings. His long hair was untied and it hung past his shoulders and past his hips. He looked very beautiful, especially since his raven hair contrasted so much against his pale skin. He noticed my staring and immediately the blush returned.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"You look really cute like that."
His face got impossibly redder and I smiled. I loved how easy it was to make him so flustered. I decided to stop teasing him and changed the subject. We talked about unimportant things and shared our thoughts about Dunstan's plan. I told him how I sneaked out to see him and he seemed pleased. I noticed later the time and realized that it had passed over an hour. I had to get back to Dr. Dunstan, or he would get very angry. When I told Jealousy, he agreed, a little sheepishly since he hadn't noticed the time either. When we came to the door, I turned around to ask him something.
"Hey, um, would you go to the movies with me tomorrow?"
"To the movies? L-like a date? Well, sure, I would love t-to"
He was blushing again, how adorable.
"It's a date then."
He smiled. That did it for me. I pulled him close and kissed him gently. He was surprised but pleased and kissed me back. It was shy, but at least he was returning it. When we broke off his eyes were dazed. I pressed my forehead to his for a minute and then turned to leave.
"See you tomorrow."
After agreeing on the time I should pick him up, I gave him one more goodbye kiss and flew off into the sky. When I looked back, he was staring after me leaning against the door frame with a content smile.
