Chapter Ten

The walk back to Beca's room felt like walking to her execution. And it might as well have been. She was losing pretty much the only thing that has kept herself sane.

"Alright, where is it?" Chloe asked, glancing around the room. Beca sighed and reached under her pillow, pulling out the box opener and handing it to Chloe.

"I'm proud of you, honey." Chloe said, stuffing the box cutter into her purse. Beca stared at the purse for a second, the reality of what was happening sinking in.

"You shouldn't have to be doing this, Chloe." Beca told her.

"What do you mean?" Chloe asked, taking a step towards Beca. Beca took one look at the worry look on her girlfriend's face and gripped her fists together, furious at herself.

"It's not fair! You're my girlfriend and right now it's like you have to treat me like a child and have to do-" Chloe broke off Beca's sentence with a kiss.

"Trust me, you are not a child." Chloe reassured Beca, her lips moving down her girlfriend's neck, spending a child up Beca's spine. Beca stopped Chloe for a moment, ran to the door, slammed it shut, and then pulled Chloe towards her bed.

"I am so proud of you, honey." Chloe said in between kisses. "And we are going to work through this together. Find more coping skills for you…"

"This is a pretty good one, so far." Beca purred. Chloe smiled and put her hands to Beca's plaid shirt and started unbuttoning it. Beca smiled though her kisses and helped Chloe get it off.

"That's not fair." Beca complained.

"What isn't, baby?"

"You still have your shirt on." Beca said.

"Well, we will have to fix that, won't we?" Chloe said, pulling her shirt off slowly, while Beca just smiled.

"What?" Chloe asked.

"You're beautiful." Beca answered.

"Aw, baby." Chloe beamed and pulled Beca closer to her. "You are too."

Beca leaned down and started kissing Chloe's body, starting at her lips, than slowly hitting every mark. When Beca got to her chest, she felt Chloe sigh and took a little extra time there, with Chloe smiling the whole time.

"Your turn, beautiful." Chloe teased. Beca pulled Chloe on top of her. Chloe slowly removed Beca's bra and then looked Beca up and down.

"How did I ever land someone this beautiful?" Chloe asked. "I must be the luckiest girl in the world."

"That's exactly what I was thinking." Beca answered as Chloe slowly started to feel around her body. They both saw Beca's fully exposed arms, but neither of them seemed to notice. It didn't matter than. They were in the past and Beca was on a new road. A road that Chloe was happy to take with her.

Chloe started off massaging Beca's breasts, slowly and gently as Beca had done for her. Beca smiled and Chloe leaned down, rubbing Beca's left breast while kissing Beca's right one. Chloe worked her way down, but stopped before getting to Beca's jeans.

"Nooo." Beca moaned and pouted. "Why'd you stop?" Chloe grinned and moved back up to massaging Beca's breasts and leaned over into her ear.

"We will get there eventually, honey." Chloe whispered. "One more reason to stay safe, huh?"

Beca sighed, but pulled Chloe's lips up to her. "You make it so hard by being so beautiful." Beca said between kisses.

"Have you looked at yourself lately? I'm pretty sure you are the beautiful one." Chloe said. Beca smiled as Chloe lay her head down on Beca's chest.

"I love you, Beca." Chloe said. Beca beamed.

"I love you too."

Chloe managed to leave ten minutes before Kimmy Jin came home for the night, thankfully. From what she had heard about Kimmy Jin, her walking in on two girls naked from the waist up on top of each other would be beyond the normal levels of award. Unfortunately, she did not escape the wrath of Aubrey.

"What's wrong with her?" Aubrey asked the second Chloe walked in.

"Jesus Christ, how long have you been waiting for me?" Chloe asked, pushing past Aubrey to the couch. Aubrey followed her and sat down next to her.

"I heard the key, that's all. What's going on with her?"

"I really don't think she wants anyone to know." Chloe replied, hesitating slightly.

Aubrey paused for a second. "Is she hurting you?"

"What?" Chloe snapped.

"I don't know! It's just, she seemed…I don't know. I'm worried about you and you seem nervous and upset…"

"I'm worried about her." Chloe replied. "She's not doing anything to me, I promise. I'm just worried about her so it makes me kind of nervous. She's my girlfriend after all."

Both girls were silent for a minute until Aubrey finally spoke up. "Is it too much?" Aubrey said quietly.

Chloe paused. "What do you mean?"

Aubrey thought for a second, trying to pick the best words that would not upset her friend. "Is it too much for you to handle?"

"You mean Beca?" Chloe asked. Aubrey nodded.

Chloe thought about it for a second. Beca was causing a lot of stress and she spent a lot of her time worrying about Beca…but she had never felt this close to anyone before, even Aubrey. And even in Beca's worst moments, Chloe still felt love from her.

"No…honestly, I don't think so." Chloe answered honestly.

"Let me know if it becomes too much to handle then." Aubrey said, reluctantly.

"I will."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"Okay." Aubrey seemed to feel better. "Could you put on channel three? American Idol is on."

"Do you seriously still watch American Idol?" Chloe asked.

"I have no time for your judgment tonight, my favorite is in the top four." Aubrey answered and grabbed the remote for herself. Chloe laughed and got up to make some popcorn.

"So, Beca, have you thought up some songs to mix yet?" Aubrey asked the next day. All the girl's had finally arrived to practice, Beca having gotten there almost an hour earlier, preferring to work on the mixing in an empty auditorium instead of under the watching eye of Kimmy Jin.

Beca glanced up from her computer and pulled her headphones off. "I've got a few of them down, the beginning especially. I was working on what tracks to blend together, although I can play you what the beginning tracks will sound like when we blend them together."

"Okay, cool. Accabitches, gather round!" Aubrey said in a surprisingly playful tone. The girls obeyed and Beca scrambled to plug in her speakers.

"I only have the beginning and it's a bit rusty-"

"I'm sure it's amazing, Beca." Chloe told her and the other girl's agreed.

"Okay." Beca smiled sheepishly and hit the play button. Beca's voice started playing on the tracks.

Seems like everybody's got a price

I wonder how they sleep at night

When the sale comes first and the truth comes second just

Stop for a minute and smile

Everybody look to the left

Everybody look to the right

Can you feel that yeah

We're paying with love tonight

Beca than paused it and switched to the next track. "See, I know I want to have that there, but then I need something in-between, and then the next part I'm planning on having something like this happen." Beca hit play again.

Grab somebody sexy

Tell them Hey

Give me everything tonight,

Give me everything tonight

Beca paused it. "And I need someone to sing this next part because I tried to do it but I am not good at rapping. Like, at all. But I tried." Beca thought for a second. "Please don't make fun of my rapping."

Take advantage of tonight

Cause tomorrow I'm off to do battle, perform for princess

But tonight, I can make you my queen

And make love to you endless

It's insane to wait and they ain't growin money

Keep flowin, hustlers move beside us

So I'm tip-toeing to keep blowing

I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan

"You were not kidding about the rapping." Cynthia Rose teased.

"Leave me alone." Beca smiled before continuing. "And somewhere in there, I want to put 'Party in the USA'. I think it just really speaks to us."

Stacie stared at her. "You did all of this since yesterday?"

Beca shrugged. "Yeah."

"That's pretty good."

"Oh, well thanks."

"Okay, girl's, let's start assigning who will sing what, and Beca, you can keep working on that." Aubrey said

"Does anyone have any song requests or anything?" Beca asked. All at once the girl's swarmed around her. Chloe waited until they walked away, and then went up to Beca.

"Did you talk to Jesse yet?" Chloe asked.

"No…and I'm kinda worried because he's already mad at me and if I tell him I have a girlfriend…"

"I'm sure he'll understand, Beca. From what you've said, he seems like a really good friend."

"He thought we were more though." Beca said quietly.

"Do you want me to come with you to tell him?" Chloe asked.

"No, I can do it myself. Don't worry." Beca said. "I'm going to see him after practice."

"Let me know how to goes, okay, sweetie?"

"I will…on one condition." Beca said slyly.

"Yes?"

"If I can tell you, over dinner?" Beca said.

"That sounds good, how about I pick you up at…seven?"

"Sounds lovely." Beca said. "Now go away, I have to mix all of these freaking songs together!"

"Bossy, bossy." Chloe teased, but hurried back to work on singing with the rest of the girls.

Beca took a deep breath before knocking on Jesse's door. Just like before, Jesse didn't answer. Thinking quick, Beca yelled, "Benjy!"

Benjy pulled the door open, decked out completely in his magic gear. "Beca!"

"Can I please talk to Jesse?"

"Um…" Benjy hesitated.

"No!" Jesse yelled from behind Benjy.

"Um…he's busy…" Benjy said. Beca paid no attention.

"Jesse! Please! This is really important!" Beca begged. Jesse sighed and walked up to the door way.

"You have five minutes. Go." Jesse said.

"Um, could we talk…alone?" Beca asked.

"Why do you-"Jesse started but Benjy was out the door and running down the hallway before he could finish his sentence. Jesse starred down the hallway. "He really hates drama."

"Jesse…look…I…I miss you as a friend." Beca blurted out.

"Cool. I've been reduced to friend." Jesse said coolly.

"Jesse, we never could have been more than friends…"

"You could have fooled me." Jesse said.

"Jesse, I think I'm a lesbian." Beca blurted out. Jesse took a double take.

"Wait, what?"

"I'm dating Chloe. And I think I am a lesbian. Actually…" Beca shook her head. "I'm pretty sure I'm a lesbian."

Jesse's face fell. "But…you and me…"

"I thought I had feelings for you." Beca refused to look into Jesse's eyes. "I really thought I had feelings for you. And I wanted to because I was confused because I could feel myself having feelings for Chloe but then you seemed to like me and I felt so bad and…" Beca didn't even realize she was crying until Jesse wiped a tear off of Beca's face.

"Beca, Beca…" Jesse murmured. Beca continued to cry and Jesse pulled her into a hug. "It's okay. I'm not mad."

Beca pulled back, surprised. "You aren't mad?"

Jesse shook his head. "I'm a little sad because, I really did like you and everything, but I'm not mad. Actually, I feel a lot better because now I get why you were pushing me away."

"I was also pushing you away because I thought you were mad at me. I thought everyone was mad at me, I mean I always think people are mad at me because that's just kind of who I am and stuff." Beca rambled. Jesse smiled.

"Beca, seriously. It's okay. I'm fine with being friends." Jesse sighed. "It will take some getting used to, sure, because I did really like you but…I understand."

"You're amazing, Jesse." Beca wrapped him in a hug."

"I know." He said, hugging her back.
