Sorry, it's another short chapter. I've been really busy lately. I'm hoping to get a long one in soon.
Chapter Twelve-
Chloe stared down at the text in front of her.
Sick. That was bullshit. Hardcore bullshit. She had seen Beca earlier today and she had seemed just fine. Not to mention with how Beca had been lately…
Chloe shook her head, wanting to give her girlfriend the benefit of the doubt. But something in the back of her head was telling her to be worried.
Chloe decided to head over to Beca's dorm. If she was wrong and Beca really was sick, she would just offer to help her out, maybe bring some soup or something. And if she was right…
Chloe stuck her phone in her pocket and headed out the door.
"Beca. Beca." Chloe banged on the door. No answer. Shit. Chloe pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed Beca's number.
"Hi, this is Beca, I'm not here right now-" Chloe sighed and hit the end button. Having no other ideas, Chloe sat down in front of Beca's door and waited.
Chloe continued to hit redial for what seemed like forever until she finally saw Beca's red converse in front of her.
"Beca!" Chloe burst out and stood up. Beca flinched back, looking almost scared. She was carrying a plastic bag that proclaimed the Campus book store on the front.
"Chloe…I told you…I was sick…" Beca muttered, biting her lip.
"You don't look sick." Chloe said, realizing how pathetic she sounded.
"I…" Beca muttered and then sighed. "Fine, I'm not sick. I'm just really tired."
"Oh…okay." Chloe muttered, stepping aside so Beca could unlock the door. Beca pulled out her key and started to fumble it into the keyhole.
"Beca?"
"Yes?" Beca asked as she finally got the door open.
"What's in the bag?" Chloe managed to get out as Beca stepped into the door. Beca froze.
"Nothing. I just got some stuff like some soda and stuff like that." Beca stuttered out.
"Can I see?" Chloe asked, following Beca into her room, shutting the door behind her.
"Why do you want to see?" Beca asked, innocently.
"Can I, Beca?" Chloe asked again. Beca narrowed her eyes, ticked.
"Why? Why the fuck do you want to see?" Beca snapped. Chloe stepped back a bit, scared.
"Just…please Beca. Please. This isn't you talking. This can't be you." Chloe insisted.
"You should probably go." Beca stated.
"No."
"Please, Chloe."
"Show me what's in the bag."
Beca sighed and threw the bag on the ground. "I'm sorry." She muttered, sitting down by her bed. "I'm sorry."
Chloe picked up the bag and glanced in. She suspected it would be something bad, and she was right; Beca had purchased a package of razors.
"Those are for shaving." Beca insisted.
"Then why were you trying to hide them?" Chloe asked. Beca looked at the ground. "We need to get you help, Beca."
"I can't afford to get a shrink right now." Beca mumbled.
"What about-"
"I can't go to the campus one. People will see me, people will talk, people will tell my dad." Beca burst out. Chloe sighed.
"We'll think of something." Chloe promised her. But if this continues, we have to tell your dad.
"No!" Beca cried. "Please…you can't…Chloe…" Beca started shaking. Chloe's hard exterior broke seeing the younger girl shake.
"I'm not going to call your dad unless it becomes a problem, okay, baby?" Chloe said, trying to fight back tears. She made her way over to Beca and knelt down next to her. "But dammit, Beca, I don't want to lose you. What happens if you cut too deep one day? What would I do without you?"
"Sleep easier at night." Beca said flatly. "You would be able to not stress over me, I wouldn't be your burden-"
"Burden?" Chloe asked. "Honey, if you honestly think-"
"Do you know what's scary?" Beca interrupted. "You don't know everything that is going on with me. If you knew everything that was going on with me, you wouldn't hesitate to leave me. Just like everyone else in my life." Beca finished, the tears freely flowing down her face. Beca struggled to wipe the tears off her face. "Shit, I'm such a fucking wimp." She muttered, burying her head into her knees.
Chloe was at a loss for words. With no other ideas, Chloe simply pulled Beca closer and rubbed her back.
"You'll be okay, sweetheart. You'll be okay."
Chloe convinced Beca to stay at her apartment for the night. Chloe and Beca knew that if this happened too frequently, they would get in trouble, so they covered their tracks the best they could before heading to Chloe's.
Beca didn't speak the whole walk, appearing to be in a state of shock. Chloe followed her lead.
Aubrey "greeted" them the second they got to the apartment. "Again?"
"Aubrey, not now…" Chloe warned, moving Beca to the couch. Beca sat, staring straight ahead.
"I give you at least a few hours warning if I'm having someone stay over and she just shows up-"
"Aubrey, you've had like two guys stay over the whole time-"
"We have a Bella's meeting tomorrow and if you two are going to be up all night-"
"We are not going to be up all night-"
"Why is she always over here anyway? What the fuck are you not telling me, there is something going on with her-"
"Why is it any of your fucking business what is going on with her-"
"Stop!" Beca finally stood up. "If it is that much of a problem, to you, I'll just go. I know when I'm not wanted." She snapped and started heading towards the door.
"Dammit, Aubrey." Chloe snapped and raced over towards Beca, gently grabbing her arm without thinking. Beca cried out in pain. Chloe's eyes widened as she realized what she had done.
"Shit, baby, I'm so sorry." Chloe told Beca, mentally curing herself out for being so careless. Beca rubbed her arm.
"It's okay, it's okay." She muttered. Chloe pulled Beca in for a hug and Beca rested her chin on Chloe's shoulder.
Aubrey looked at the two of them, than at Beca's arms, and sighed.
"Two conditions." Aubrey stated. Chloe and Beca turned towards her. "One, I get to pick the movie, and two, if you're voices are shot tomorrow there is going to be hell to pay." Aubrey paused. "And please have sex quietly and sterilize everything you touch."
