Chapter Fifteen-

Chloe stared anxiously at the clock. 8:10. Beca should have been there ten minutes ago. The other girls seemed anxious as well, only for a different reason.

Chloe glanced at her phone. She knew she said she would call if she was late…but she was scared. She was scared to lose Beca. She wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she knew what Beca was doing.

"Beca was supposed to have more of the tracks finished by today. Where is she?" Cynthia Rose asked. "I wanted to practice my new part."

"Yeah, the dj kinda doesn't have the music for a singing group. That's a bit important. That and how fabulous my boobs are going to look in the new outfits." Fat Amy pointed out.

"Where could she be? She was just with you." Aubrey said anxiously. "She kind of has the music. We can't do music without her."

"She will be here soon." Chloe assured the other girls. "How about we work on dancing? I know we don't have the music but we can still work on that."

"Girls, go get it started. Start from the top of the second song change." Aubrey told the other girls. While they all went to their positions, Aubrey stepped closed to Chloe.

"Where is she?" Aubrey asked Chloe. Chloe looked around to see that the other girls were busy before she broke down.

"Aubrey, I have no idea." Chloe glanced at her phone and started dialing. "But I know she isn't okay."

Beca had intended to go to rehearsal. She was in the middle of getting dressed when she finally broke down.

Chloe was going to leave her. She had to be leaving her, right? After all, who would stay with a train wreck like her? She was causing problems for Chloe. She was making Chloe's life worse. Chloe would have to be stupid to stay with someone as messed up as Beca.

Beca was almost on auto-pilot as she ripped open the razor package. She slowly ran the razor over her skin. Blood poured out.

"No one could love me." Beca muttered and sliced in deeper.

"Ashely left. Best friend for four years. Four years of sleepovers, dinners, gossip sessions, vacations. My partner in crime."

Beca pushed in deeper. A lot of blood spilled out. Beca paused to look at it, fascinated. Was there supposed to be that much blood?

"It was my fault. All my fault." Beca realized she was crying a wiped her tears away. Some blood wiped on her face. She stared at her hands, amazed at how much blood was on them. She liked it. Blood meant she was alive, right? Something was alive in her. Even if the rest of her was dead there was truth in the blood.

Beca didn't really notice how dizzy she was getting. She heard her phone ring and nearly fell as she tried to stand up. Chloe's name was on her screen. She answered the phone and attempted to sound calm.

"Hey, Chloe." Beca said.

"Baby, I've been calling, why haven't you been answering?"

Beca shrugged. "I guess I didn't really notice. I'm kind of busy."

"Busy?" Beca could hear the worry in her voice and tensed up. She was making her worry. "What have you been busy doing, honey? We've all been waiting for you. We need you to practice."

"You don't need me, Chloe." Beca said firmly. "It's better for you to just leave me alone."

"I'm sorry, hun, but that's not going to happen. Are you in your dorm?"

"Don't come."

"Too late, Beca, I'm almost there, okay? Aubrey's coming too. And I…please don't be mad but I've called campus security. They'll be sending an ambulance. Your dad is on his way as well."

"No. No ambulance."

"Beca, I'm sorry-"

"No. I don't want people to see me. Think I'm a freak. How could you fucking do this to me? How?!"

"I'm not losing you, Beca."

"Don't come, Chloe. Escape me while you can."

"I'm your girlfriend, honey, and I'm worried about you. I'll be there in a few minutes. Are you still holding the razor?"

"How did you know?"

"A guess, I suppose, although I was hoping I was wrong."

"I'm holding it. I'll see you in a few."

"Beca?"

"What?" Beca snapped, annoyed that Chloe was keeping her from fixing the pain.

"Put the razor down."

"No."

"Beca, please."

Beca suddenly felt kind of fuzzy. She decided to sit back down but everything seemed to be falling away from her.

"Beca, are you okay?"

"I don't know, Chloe. Things feel weird."

"Weird?" Beca could hear the surprise in Chloe's voice. "What kind of weird?"

"Like…fuzzy."

"How deeply did you cut yourself, Beca?"

"There's lots of blood." Beca mumbled kind of sleepily.

"Just hang on, okay? We are almost there."

"Okay."

"Beca?"

"Yes, Chloe?" Beca murmured.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"Stay on the line with me, okay? We are almost there."
