Strawberry Kisses
It was getting so hard now, so very hard now. Everything that stupid dolt did just...made her heart thump harder! Made her cheeks burn brighter! Made her head spin and fingers itch and just...Ruby Rose was just...what she wanted.
What she really, truly wanted.
The girl went out of her way to make her feel included in their games, did her best to keep up with her in their classes, and even tried to be quiet for when she was trying to study. Most importantly, however, she tried to be her friend. Even after their first encounter and even the few after that were more then rough, she still wanted to be her friend and just...be around her.
Weiss sighed again as she watched the younger girl mindlessly dip another strawberry into the bowl of fresh creme Yang had made for her and slowly bring the fruit to her lips. It was a process that has been repeated now several times over, yet Weiss was still entranced by the simple actions. How tenderly she held the fruit, how she swirled the tip of it in the creme before lifting it out, how her lips, stained red from the juices, wrapped around it as she bit into the berry.
The heiress shook her head to clear her thoughts, before turning her gaze onto the tv program she and Ruby were watching. Yang had decided to take Blake out to the book store for a small date and had made the creme for Ruby to snack on as a way to keep her baby sister at bay. To everyone's surprise, Ruby adored strawberries, even more than cookies, but it was easier to keep cookies on hand then the fragile fruit it seemed. She recalled Ruby saying that she used to go outside and pick them from their bushes when she was younger and raved about how the sweet and tangy morsels here where nothing in comparison to them being fresh.
This just left the two of them at the dorm together. Weiss didn't even have the distraction of Team JNPR, since they decided to have a training day and all. When the younger suggested they watch tv, it was a welcome relief, though she never really did such a thing at home, the distraction was very much welcomed. Now it was nothing more then background noise for her thoughts.
"Would you like some?" The voice brought the white haired girl out of her thoughts with a bit of a jolt and drew her gaze to the outstretched hand holding a creme dipped strawberry for her to take.
"Yes, thank you, Ruby." Weiss sighed as she gently eased the fruit from Ruby's hold and took a bite. It was sweet and the creme took the tangy edge off of the berry, much to Weiss' pleasure.
"Good, huh? Nothing beats a bowl of strawberries with Yang's homemade creme!" Ruby giggled as she patted the seat next to her. "Come on! That way we can share the bowl!"
Weiss did her absolute best to hide her blush, if any color made it though, she was sure Ruby hadn't noticed since she was already dipping another strawberry in that large bowl of creme. What could she do? She wanted to be close to the girl, but she didn't want to do something she would regret either.
Like kiss her. And keep kissing her.
Hell, she wasn't even sure if Ruby liked girls or not or even looked at others like that yet. And then there was Yang. The brute would burn her to a crisp if she ever found out that she harbored any type of romantic feelings for the younger girl. She had seen how she treated people that she even thought had feelings for Ruby like that, even helped her with that Dino kid.
Taking the offered seat and thanking the other, Weiss indulged herself in another strawberry and pondered her options further. She had done this for hours, days, weeks, maybe even months now. At first, she wasn't sure if she liked Ruby, or was just infatuated by her. Then, she wasn't sure if it was just a simple, fleeting crush or something more. Now, it was if she should confront her or not.
"Weiss?"
"Yes, Ruby?"
"Can I have the remote? It's on your side."
"You can."
"...May I have the remote? It's still on your side." Ruby smiled as Weiss granted her the device. "Thanks! I wanna see if there's anything else on."
Great, with Ruby flipping through the channels like this, how was she supposed to distract herself? Weiss simply dipped another fruit into the creme and took a small bite of it. Only when she felt the presence of a gaze on her, she turn her head to see Ruby glance away, a deep blush across her cheeks. The sight of the blush gave Weiss some hope, hope that maybe Ruby liked her too!
"So, found anything yet?" Weiss asked, trying to get the other to speak and look at her again. She knew of these tricks, knew of ways to draw attention to herself, and the best of ways to do it for both sexes. She had plenty of practice because of the countless dates she had been forced to have with either sex, in the name of business. Dating heirs and heiresses, the sons and daughters of lords, it was a large list of dull, boring talks and heartless confessions.
This, however, she wanted.
"N-no. Nothing seems to be on but reality tv shows." Ruby sighed as she turned off the device and walked over to the team's shared bookshelf and pulled out a magazine for her to read for the hundredth time. "I could always glance through my mags. You want anything?"
You. Weiss shook away the thought quickly before she just scoffed. "Are you not bored of them yet? I'm sure even the pictures are boring for you now."
"Well, yeah, but..." Ruby sheepishly sat down next to Weiss and pointed at her snack. "You gotta read or watch something when you have a snack like strawberries and creme! It's like...a rule or something."
Weiss rolled her eyes as she watched Ruby sit back down and open the magazine to a random page and began to glance through it. "I'm sure there is something better to look at." She mumbled before an idea hit her. "Ruby?"
"Yes, Weiss?"
"May I look through your sketch books? If I remember correctly, there are a few sketches Professor Port wants done and I'm having a few issues with it. Maybe glancing at yours would help." The reason was valid enough, though not entirely true, she had done the small drawings the very day they were assigned, but really didn't care if they turned out well or not since they were only to be charts for discussions and not a actual grade.
"Yeah! That's a great idea!" Ruby giggled as she all but tossed the magazine she was reading to some, far off corner of the room. "Sketching is a great thing to do when you have snacks!" The younger girl skipped to her desk, quickly gathering her key (which she still hid just in case Yang lost their spare. It was only a matter of time really) and opening the drawer with a practiced motion. "What are you sketching in? Pencil? Charcoal? What?"
Weiss, feeling safe with Ruby's back toward her, smiled at the burst of excited energy the other displayed. "Just pencil, I'm not very good at drawing, so I stick to the basics." Watching Ruby nod and begin to gather their books and pencils along with their reference material gave Weiss time to really look at the other girl.
She was lean, trim, had muscle rippling under tender flesh but not like Yang did. The blonde was a damn brick wall, but she needed to be. Ruby, though her arms and shoulders showed great strength, it was nothing compared to her legs...or so Yang said. It seemed like no matter what Ruby wore, her legs were always covered by some baggy material much to Weiss' displeasure.
"Weiss? You okay?"
"Huh?" Icy blue eyes came into focus, finding silver orbs staring back at her. Weiss had read that one's eyes could tell a lot about a person's genetics as well as character traits. Silver, which was very uncommon, was said to allow those who bore them great eyesight. A clarity that others wouldn't understand. These people normally focused on the use of guns or other such weapons. She was sure that Ruby needed them for when she ran at high speeds rather then shooting and aiming, though, it did bring up the question...
How does she see me?
"I got our stuff...you sure you wanna draw? You seem kinda out of it today..." Ruby gently sat down next to the older girl and handed her the appropriate materials. "Maybe a small nap would do you some good?"
"I'm fine, thank you for your concern." Weiss huffed as she forced her gaze to the objects in her hands. The book, she knew why she needed it, but all these pencils? Didn't she only need one? "Ruby, I only need one pencil, not five."
Ruby giggled as she began to flip through the pages of her own book to the desired drawings. "Trust me, you'll need them. All of them."
Weiss only snorted as she watch the other girl flip through page after page of work. "Didn't Professor Port just want a few pictures? Why do you have so many?"
Ruby paused, her eyes flickering from Weiss to her works, then to Weiss again. "I like to draw. Sometimes, I wanna draw Grimm, so I place them in this sketch book. I'm sure Professor Port won't mind." She sighed as she found the piece she was looking for before placing it on the other's lap. "There it is."
Weiss took in the level of detail the simple sketch held, impressed by it as well as annoyed. It was only to be a simple drawing and yet, Ruby had made it a masterpiece. "All right..." Weiss cleared her throat as she glanced at her own, simple work. It was nothing more than an outline of the beast with little detail and what was present was very shaky at best. "How do I make it look better?"
Ruby smiled as she pointed to the piece. "The proportions are all off, so we need to fix that first." She then held up a pencil and showed Weiss the letter and number on it, saying what it all meant and what not. Weiss really wasn't listening, just nodding her head and going with the motions. All she could focus on was Ruby eating those damn strawberries after every pointer, every pause.
Her breath smelled sweet, her lips stained red, her fingertips wet and cold from the water still on the chilled berries. The closer this girl got, the harder it was not to touch. It was almost like she was being taunted, mocked, cheated.
No one cheated a Schnee.
Weiss quickly turned her fiery gaze onto the younger, catching her off guard, and kissed her fully on the lips. Oh, dust, it was sweet! Her lips were like the petals of a rose and she tasted like those damn berries, but they had been covered in a fine sugar. As much as Weiss wanted to keep her lips pressed against Ruby's, she knew she needed to leave, hide before Yang could see them like this.
With a small click, the heiress parted from her flower maiden and dashed out of the room, leaving the younger in a haze that swirled thickly about her. Ruby blinked, tying to process the events that just transpired.
That...was her first kiss...and it was from Weiss of all people.
"Heya, sis! What's up?" Ruby turned to see Yang standing at the doorway, her arms full of bags, filled with books. Noticing the deep blush on her little sister's face, Yang drew closer to the girl. "You okay?"
"Yang..." Ruby breathed out, her lungs tight and heart pounding. "Wh...what do you do...when someone kisses you?"
