I'm back! Again, really sorry it's been so long since the last chapter. I've had so many things going on and I just don't have time to keep up with my stories anymore. But I read through the reviews for this the other day and was really motivated to type up another chapter.
Fiona stretched in the bed, her eyes tightly squeezed and her hands in fists. Mid-stretch, she paused; opening her eyes and looking through sleepy eyes around the room that wasn't hers. She sat up abruptly and rubbed at her eyes before her vision cleared and she realized the room wasn't as unfamiliar as she thought.
Marshall popped his head up from the hole in the floor that lead to the first floor. Noticing she was awake, he floated over to her with a big, goofy grin and laid in bed next to her. "Good morning, sleeping beauty" he purred.
She looked down at him and shook her head. "I told you to let me sleep on the couch. You know I hate to take the bed from you" she said, guilt and annoyance edging her tone.
The vampire king snaked one arm around her waist and pulled her down to him, keeping her in place with surprising strength. "I didn't sleep on the couch" he said, "I spent a passionate night in the bed with you. Don't you remember, doll?"
Fiona blushed fifty shades of red, pushing against his chest and trying to wriggle away in embarrassment. "Marshall Lee we did no such thing!" she exclaimed, "I-I would have remembered it"
It was Marshall's turn to blush. With a light chuckle he let go of her. "You're right, we didn't do anything. But I did sleep above the bed, if it makes you any less anxious" he said.
"It does," she said, kissing him on the forehead, "Now, what's for breakfast?"
He shrugged, floating up out of the bed. "I have apples, cherries, and pomegranates. I don't know how satisfying of a meal that will be for you though" he sighed, "Next time you come over I'll buy better food for you, I promise"
The adventurer shook her head, "It's fine, I'll just head back to the tree house. Cake no doubt has a big breakfast made already" she said, slipping out of bed and heading to the bathroom. She grabbed a hairbrush from a drawer and started the tedious task of taming her golden locks.
Marshall came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head on her shoulder. "Stay longer" he said.
"I'm just going back to eat, you can even come with me if you want" she said, setting down the hairbrush.
"But Cake will be there. I want us to have more time alone" he said, kissing her neck.
She turned around, craning her neck so that he had better access to her. "Marshall we have plenty of time alone" she said, sighing as his fangs brushed her skin lightly. Her hands drifted up his back and became tangled in his dark bedhead.
"Not enough" he groaned, placing his hands on either side of the sink, trapping her, and pushed his hips against hers. She giggled as he leaned her back against the counter, supporting her lower back with his hand. His lips traveled up her neck and met her awaiting lips passionately.
After a couple moments the couple broke apart, breathing heavily from the exercise. With a final kiss on the forehead, Marshall stepped back and allowed Fiona an exit. He sheepishly stuck his hands in his pocket and wandered out of the bathroom, leaving Fiona to finish her morning ritual.
Fiona found Marshall sipping the color out of an apple in the kitchen. She came up behind him, wrapping her arms around his back. "Marshall, are you lonely?" she asked.
"I guess? I don't know" he said, running a hand through his hair, "I've just been alone for all these years. I had a shit mother and a shit life. She didn't love me and, hell, Ashley didn't love me either- even though I loved them both so much"
"Marshall, I love you. You know that, right? Just because I don't want to move in with you yet doesn't mean my feelings aren't valid" she said.
He paused, turning around to face her. "I love you too Fiona, more than you can imagine. I just- I want to be with you. I want to spend eternity with you and dammit if I had a ring right now I'd propose to you" he said, taking her hands.
"A ring isn't important" she said, smiling, "The words, however, are"
He grinned. "Fiona the human, will you marry me?" he asked, his grip on her hands tightening.
She pecked him on the cheek, letting go of his hands. "That was a weak proposal, Marshall Lee, and you know it. Cake always taught me to never accept a proposal that's any less than spectacular" she said, smirking.
Marshall threw his head back and groaned. "You'll be the death of me" he cried.
"Oh please" she laughed, heading out the door. "I'll see you later. I love you!"
"Love you too, doll" he said.
