I haven't been able to update fast because school is now back in session, winter break is over...it sucks... anyways here is the new chapter!
A/N: I do not own Takumi-kun Series or it's characters. I only own my OC's and the plot. This is a yaoi fanfiction as many can see so if you don't like, don't read and please don't leave negative comments just because you didn't like it. That would be much appreciated. Thank you and enjoy!
Chapter 19
That night, after the rushed conversation with Misu, Gii and Shouzou gathered in Misu and Takumi's room as planned. Gii sat on his lover's bed, with the newest received envelopes in his arms and handed the envelope to Misu and Shouzou. He warned his friends that the images might be a bit much but his friends proceed on opening the envelope. They first pulled out the letter and then the disk, then finally the pictures. Shouzou's eyes widen at the images and it was evident that Misu's blood was boiling with anger. Gii could only look away as his friends looked over the contents of the envelope. Gii breathed in a deep breath and looked down to the bed he was sitting on. He imagined his brunet lover sleeping on this bed every night before the incident and even sitting there reading a book. His heart ached with just the thought of Takumi not being there but it pained him even more knowing that some horrible person is causing Takumi pain and suffering. Gii wanted nothing more than to punish the person who was responsible for this but his friends' voice soon broke him out of his trail of thought.
"Gii... this is horrible...These images... How could someone..." Shouzou's voice started to trail off as his eyes wandered over the pictures.
"Whoever he is, he is not afraid to mess with you. He's got some nerve doing this," said Misu. "And you're sure that you don't know who he is?"
"No... I have no idea who and why this person would do such a thing like this to Takumi.." said Gii.
Gii then flashed back to that time he had a conversation with the school nurse, it was brought to his attention that he didn't even mention this to his friends yet. Right now was the perfect time to talk about it since on Fridays there were not too strict rules about wandering the dorm buildings, Gii had the perfect opportunity to talk to Misu and Shouzou about this. They would be able to help him piece together what the nurse said to him that day.
"Gii...!" Misu said.
"Huh? What?! Oh right, um... guys I have something to tell you," started Gii.
"Well that would've been nice, considering you've been spacing out practically all night," exclaimed Misu.
"Misu, stop. This is serious. What is it Gii?" Asked Shouzou.
"A few days ago, I had a conversation with the nurse. Shouzou, remember that time in class when I went to the nurse's office during class?" Asked Gii.
"Oh yeah, you said you weren't feeling well. Why?" Asked Shouzou.
"I said that to go and have a talk with the nurse actually. She was on the surveillance tape of the hospital when Takumi was kidnapped, remember?" Asked Gii.
"You're right! How could I forget that?!" Cried Shouzou. "So?! How did it go?! Did you learn anything?"
"Actually...no... All I learned was that she was involved, that she was employed and that this whole scheme somehow revolves around me...again..." said Gii.
"Around you? What do you mean? Who do you know that would want to do this to Hayama?" Asked Shouzou.
"Akaike, come on now, think clearly, will you? We are talking about the most popular guy in the school here. Anyone with money can do this. the question is who?" said Misu.
"But didn't we already take care of one group of Hayama's harassers? Shouldn't that be a good enough message not to mess with us?" Asked Shouzou. "These kids... they don't know when to give up...!"
"But the person in the video was quite clearly a man. I don't know any adults who know about my relationship with Takumi. Any adults that have a problem with me probably have a prob...lem...with...oh no..." said Gii as a thought finally appeared in his mind.
"What? Who, Gii? A problem with who?" Asked Shouzou.
"Saki, who are you thinking of? ...Wait... you don't possibly mean..." Misu caught on fast as soon as he pieced everything together as well.
"Yes... I'm afraid so... the only adults that would have a problem with me is if they had a problem with...my father... that's why it didn't make sense at first. But now it does...!" Said Gii as he stood up from his spot abruptly.
"That makes sense, your family owns a large company and other competitions are always a threat but for them to go this far... Gii that seems somewhat implausible. No one has ever gone that far before, have they?" Asked Shouzou.
"No but this is a new low for them. We need to find out who are my father's competitions are...maybe then we can narrow the suspects down," said Gii.
"Saki, I'd hate to break your whole "eureka" moment here but, that seems like it would take way to long and by the time we figure it out, I fear it might be too late to save Hayama," said Misu.
"Then what do you suppose we do, huh? It's not like we have much to go on here," said Gii sounding a bit irritated.
"Look, I know you want to find Hayama more than anyone, but he is my friend, too. And I want him back safe and sound just as much as you do. And going through your father's list of enemies could take forever," stated Misu. "I think there is a better way to narrow down the lists of suspects."
"How?" Asked Gii.
"Well besides that fact of possible company competitors, have you ever considered your father's employees? Maybe they are plotting against him, too? Let me as you this, how many employees has your father fired or laid off?" Asked Misu.
"I don't know...A lot I guess," said Gii.
"Then doesn't it seem like his previous employees would have an even bigger grudge against him that his competitions?" Asked Misu.
"You're right, that does seem more plausible," said Shouzou. "People tend to get upset when they're fired or laid off, that could be a great motive."
"But why aim at me? I haven't done anything to those people... the one they should be going at is my father, not me. As much as I love my father and hope that nothing happens to him, I don't wish to be caught up in his issues," stated Gii.
"But you are his son, the heir to his company, which means that you are as equally as important as he is. If they were to aim at you and somehow get rid of you, that means that not only have they taken revenge on your father but also caused trouble for your father's company. It would be a win-win situation for them," said Misu.
"And now...because of me... Takumi is caught up in the middle of it all...! That's what sensei meant when she said that it was "my fault" that day," said Gii as he slumped back down to his seat on Takumi's bed. "Oh Takumi..."
"Gii... don't worry, we will find him, we just have to think really hard about all this, maybe it was a little hasty for you to set everything in motion for tomorrow. I mean we don't even know who the kidnapper is and you already want to charge into this battle," said Shouzou as he patted his friend on the shoulder.
"Akaike's right. What if the man is mentally unstable? Seeing an army of police officers could set him off and he could really hurt Hayama on the spot. Saki, you should've come to us sooner about all this. This is really not like you," said Misu.
"I'm sorry.. but I just can't do this type of thing...Takumi keeps getting hurt every time because of me whether I caused it or just because the fact that he knows me... somehow it's always my fault and I can't bear to see him hurt anymore. When I learned about where he was from you, Shouzou, I thought about nothing but charging in there and taking him back. Nothing occurred to me that he might be more involved than I thought...I...I just can't lose him," said Gii. "I can't..."
"Gii..."
"Look, Saki, you have to put off that plan tomorrow because of this new information that we've found out. We don't know what to expect and it's safer if we knew who this person is so we can take precautions. Do you understand what I am saying?" Asked Misu.
Gii nods and reluctantly agrees to call off the plan until they find the actual suspect in this. Misu, Shouzou and Gii began to discuss who could be the major suspects as Gii gathered a list of all the people that were fired from his father's company from his father's current secretary. Each of the boys were looking at different lists, all rather long, of the people who used to work for the Saki Company and that was when Gii came across a name that sounded familiar and the information seemed intriguing.
"Hey guys, take a look at this:
Nishiki Rei
DOB: 08/06/1975
Age: 29
Employment Position: Former Secretary of President
Company Status: Relieved of Duty
Reason: False Accusation of President, Assault
DOR (Date of Release): 10/14/08
Family: Wife (27), Son (7)
Family Status: Deceased," Gii read aloud.
"That's odd... How could that guy lost a 7 year old son at that young age?" Asked Misu.
"Well its not that odd. The boy could've gotten a terminal illness or was involved in an accident," said Shouzou. "The poor thing, died at such a young age."
"But then his wife, she died young too," said Misu. "Saki, is there anything else on there? Or does anyone else have something similar to that guy's situation?"
"Well other people have deceased family members, too. But they're mostly elderly parents or sick siblings as it's written here in the files. This guy is pretty much the only one, hold on let me read more:
Family Caused of Death: Traffic Accident
DOD (Date of Death): 10/05/08," read Gii. "Oh my god... his wife and son both died in the traffic accident..."
"That's horrible," said Shouzou.
"Anything else?" Asked Misu.
"Well since my father likes to keep close tabs on everyone that has worked in the company and anyone who is still working, there probably is...just give me a second. Hmmmm... It says here that someone hit his wife and son as they were crossing the streets. Criminal: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. Wait... what? This thing is blacked out! I can't even read the name! Damn it!" Cursed Gii.
"Wait, let me see," said Misu as he took the document from Gii's hands. "He's right. It's completely blacked out. It's like someone did that on purpose so we can't see it. You don't think your father's secretary did this, do you?"
"No, Mr. Myamura only faxed it to me, he knew nothing the contents just that they were a list of former employee's at father's company. But why would this be black out and only this one?" Gii wondered.
"Gii, I think I know who the name of the criminal is..." said Shouzou as he examined the document.
"Who?" Asked Gii.
"Let me ask you one thing, how long his your father's name? What is it written like?" Asked Shouzou.
"My father's name is Saki Ryuunoske. 咲(Sa) "blossom" with 希(ki) "hope" and 隆(Ryuu) as in "noble, prosperous" with 之(no) "of" and 介(suke) as in "forerunner, herald". Why?" Asked Gii.
"That's because his name fits the spacing of the blacked out name perfectly. And Gii... that would mean that your father killed this man's family..." said Shouzou.
"What..?!" Cried Gii. "What are you talking about? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard."
"That gives him perfect motive...it makes sense now," said Misu.
"No...! No, no, no... my father is many things but he is most definitely not a murderer! He can't!" Cried Gii.
"Then what else would you explain about this? His name fit perfectly in the blacked out lines, this man's motive is clear and he has a perfect reason...! Now he's targeting you because you're your father's son...!" said Shouzou. "Think about it!"
"Your father doesn't tell you everything about himself and you sure don't tell him everything about yourself either, Saki. How do you expect to know everything about the man you call 'father'?" Questioned Misu.
"Don't you talk about my father that way!" Cried Gii. "There has to be an explanation for all of this. My father would not just kill a man's innocent wife and child for no good reason! He is still a human after all."
"Then why don't you find out for sure. The only way to save Hayama is to get down to the truth and the truth is what your father is hiding, Saki," said Misu.
"You need to talk to Saki senior, he's the only one who knows about this in detail. As much as I'd hate to believe it myself, this is not something that can be joked around about or hidden in the dark any longer. Gii you have to do this, think about Hayama, he's caught in the crossfire even when he has no connections to this what so ever," persuaded Shouzou. "You have to call him and talk to him and it can't wait. Right now it should be morning in America, you can call him and talk."
"But... he's probably busy, I shouldn't impose on him like that..." said Gii.
"Saki! What the hell are you talking about?! Are you seriously saying that right now after all that has happened?! Hayama is in danger and currently in the hands of a seriously crazy man yet you're thinking about whether or not to call your father because of his fucking schedule? Who's side are you even on right now? Get a grip!" Said Misu as he grabbed Gii by his colar.
"Misu, stop! Let's not get rash! I know we are all tired and that it's late but Gii has a point...! We can't just call him to say that we suspect him a murder, he is Gii's father," said Shouzou as he pried Misu's hands off of Gii's shirt collar. "Look I agree that Gii needs to talk to his father but the angle in which we have to approach might not be as easy as we think it is. Bringing up a murder is not easy, especially between father and son. Gii you need to think of a way to talk to your father, it is the only way we can find out any information about this man and his motives. So please."
"A-alright...I'll talk to my father... just give me a minute to dial in the extension to New York," said Gii as he grabbed his phone and began to dial.
It took several minutes for Gii to dial in the really long extension code for out of country calls require it. Once he finished dialing, Gii pressed the phone to his ear and listened as the buzzing noised rang. After four rings, there was a sound of someone picking up the phone from the other end. Gii's heart skipped a beat when he heard this. He was always a little nervous talking to his father regarding anything other than the family company and now that he had to bring up the subject of his father being a possible murderer does not ease his mind at all.
Suddenly, a low and deep voice answered from the other line of the phone:
"Hello? Giichi? What are you doing calling me at such an hour? You know I am very busy and isn't it very late in Japan right now? What are you still doing up? This better not be effecting your studying and learning capabilities."
"Nice to talk to you too father. I do realize that it is rather late and I know that you are quite busy and I apologize for calling you at such an hour. And, no this won't be a regular thing and it is not effecting my studies at all, I assure you," said Gii as he answered all of his father's early questions with one breathe and rolled his eyes. "But the reason I called you is because I have a really important matter to discuss with you."
"Important matter? How important are we speaking? Because if this is about you coming back to America to succeed my company then I am all ears, other than that, you can consider this conversation over," stated Mr. Saki.
"No father, this is not about be succeeding your company... but please don't hang up! I really need to talk to you and this is really important," cried Gii.
Gii could hear his father sigh at the other end of the phone line but then he spoke again: "Fine...what is it?"
Gii took a deep breath, knowing that there was no way of turning back now.
"Father, do you know a Nishiki Rei? He worked for you around 5 years ago but you released him of his position," said Gii.
"Why do you need to know about him? How do you even know about him?" Asked Mr. Saki. Gii could sense the frustration and anger building up in his father's voice.
"Well...um...its just that one of my important friends has been kidnapped and I believe that he is involved or more like he is the one who did it," said Gii.
"Alright, do you have any evidence that he is the one who 'kidnapped' this friend of yours?" Asked Mr. Saki, skeptically.
"Well...it says here that his family was killed in a traffic accident and the one who killed them...well...was...um...you...father," said Gii.
There as silence on the other end of the phone line, Gii's heart raced faster and faster, he could feel sweat drops forming on his brow as the silenced dragged on for seconds longer. His father did answer but he could hear a slight sigh coming from his father side and Gii knew that he was in for it now.
"NIshiki Rei, did you say?" Asked Mr. Saki.
"Y-yes sir!" Said Gii.
"Yes... that name sounds familiar and according to this 'file' you have, Giichi, it says that his family was killed did it now?" Asked Mr. Saki.
"Y-es sir," said Gii.
"Hmmm...yes... I remember now, that Nishiki. He worked for me when the company was in a bit of a tough situation and of course back then our company had just started. Listen to me Giichi, that file that you have, you shouldn't have it at all but since you are doing this because of your friend, I will lay off a bit. However, you will not go unpunished, do you hear me?" Exclaimed Mr. Saki.
"Yes sir, I understand," said Gii.
"What that file says...is true... I did kill Nishiki's wife and son," exclaimed Mr. Saki.
"Eh? You can't be serious, right father?" Asked Gii in shock.
"Yes... I am serious... I killed his wife and son but listen to me, it was a accident, I did not do it on purpose. When our company was failing and going near bankruptcy, I was stressed and frustrated. And one night, I could not take it anymore so I took my car out for the night for a ride to clear my mind. Nishiki was working that night to clear up somethings that needed work on. I go into the car a drove around the city for a bit, unaware of the speed at which I was traveling in. Anger, rage and fear clouded my senses and when I came through, I had realized that I was heading straight for a mother and a child but I could not stop in time and drove right into them. Everything was a blur but all I remember was stepping on the brakes hard to stop myself and by the time I got out of the car, I saw what I had done and knew that it was too late. However, I still called the police and told them what happened but when Nishiki showed up...that was when I knew that I had done something horrible," told Mr. Saki. "Nishiki showed up enraged about the accident but the 'me' back then worried more about the company than the people. I was scared. yes I admit that, but at that moment, I told myself that it was a mere traffic accident and things like that happened all the time. But seeing as it involved the lives of my co-worker's family, I felt devastated that it happened. On the day of the funeral, I came to see the condition of Nishiki but it was clear that I was not welcomed and so I relieved him of his job to prevent any future complications with the company. But listen to me, son, I've a fully repented on my actions, I've tried to provide Nishiki with any support that I could but I was constantly denied so in the end I just gave up and moved on. But now that you are telling me this, I would have never predicted that he would go through such lengths to try to get to me, especially through you. He is quite a troublesome man..."
"Father... why didn't you tell me this sooner? Why didn't you tell me the truth?" Asked Gii.
"Because you had no reason to be involved with this. This was a matter between Nishiki and I but to think that he would go through you to get to me...and to kidnap a friend of yours. Tell me, where are you on finding where Nishiki is?" Asked Mr. Saki.
"We have information that he is staying in an apartment complex in the city down the mountain from my school. I had planned to get the police and go in there with me tomorrow," said Gii.
"That is a foolish plan, Giichi. You cannot just barge into someone's house and accuse them of something if you do not have concrete evidence to back you up nor a search warrant. I thought I raised to you think better than this?" Stated Mr. Saki,
"My apologies, father, but this is a very serious situation and I believe I have quite enough evidence to back me up," said Gii.
"Oh? Is that so? What evidence is that?" Asked Mr. Saki in a skeptical tone.
"In the past few weeks, I have been receiving envelopes with contents that showed the state of my friend's condition. These came in the forms of pictures, a disk and a letter telling me that I have to "find out what he was looking for" or else things would get seriously bad," said Gii.
"Alright, that is something to go on but we cannot prove that it is from him without a return address, am I correct. So unless you have any other evidence, you are really stuck, son," exclaimed Mr. Saki.
"We have a surveillance video of the night that my friend was kidnapped. He was staying in the local hospital because...of personal matters, and he was taken from the hospital. The hospital security cameras shot multiple images of someone taking him away. But the videos did not just show one person but two. And the second person is our school nurse, she is an accomplice to Nishiki-san. I confronted her the other day and I managed to get her to confess that she was apart of the scheme, however, she was not willing to give up the man's name. But now that we have uncovered who he is, I plan on going back and getting a full confession out of her. Maybe then, I can proceed with my plan," said Gii.
"Well, I don't see why you had to call me to discuss about your plan when you have already gotten so many things figured out. Go and get your friend, I'm hanging up," said Mr. Saki.
"Thank you father, for your help," said Gii.
"Oh and Giichi..."
"Yes father?"
"Be careful," Gii's father said before he hung up the phone.
Gii hung up the phone and turned to face his friends, whom both wore a serious expression or more like doubtfully serious.
"What?" Asked Gii.
"I told you," pointed out Misu.
"Huh?"
"I told you that your father was definitely hiding something and you didn't believe me," explained Misu.
"Well I did listen to you and called him, didn't I?" Asked Gii.
"Just stop it you two," interrupted Shouzou. "Right now, we've found out who our culprit is and what his motive is."
"We also have the evidence to prove it as well," stated Misu.
"Now, Gii, we can go get Hayama back," said Shouzou with a reassuring smile.
"Then everything will commence as planned...sort of. We have to go see the nurse tomorrow before she realizes that we've learned more and flees," said Gii.
"Right, we'll accompany you tomorrow at noon," said Shouzou.
"Sounds like a plan," said Gii. "Lets retire for the night. We are going to win this, no doubt."
And with that, the three friends retired for the night and headed back to their rooms. Once in his room, Gii let out a long sigh and walked towards his bed. He sat down with a slump and then let his arms rest on his knees. His mind felt exhausted but so did his body. The shock from the story that his father told was still fresh, he just did not let it show in front of his friends. He could not believe that something like that was hidden from him for such a long time. Gii, then, fell backwards and laid down on his bed as his eyes drifted to a photograph of Takumi and himself on the day of Tanabata at the restaurant.
"I'm so sorry, my love...I've dragged you into something horrible again. But I am so close to finding you, just hang on...hang on in there, I'm coming for you," said Gii as he slowly drifted off to sleep, hoping that a more successful day will come his way soon.
