Long time no see... But i Hope you like it :) i had fun writing it.. first time i've had fun writing in a long while
Skulduggery didn't like the look of Fletcher Renn. First he tried to catch the attention of Tanith, the poor girl had gone to extreme lengths to try and escape his grasp offering to shovel horse manure with the yardmen. Still this didn't seem to faze the boy. He seemed to have as much sense of smell as style.
NONE
It wasn't until Fletcher had seen Valkyrie's act last Saturday that he'd really made a shift of focus. No longer did Tanith have to worry about an unwanted neighbour at dinner. No now Skulduggery had to fight to get a seat next to his Best Friend.
Fletcher had watches in awe that Saturday with the rest of the crowd as Valkyrie stood on the podium her corset firmly tied- thanks to the help of Skulduggery's nimble fingers. Fletchers Appreciative gaze was not the only one she could feel burning into her skin. Valkyrie had caught eyes with Ravel's equally hungry stare and felt highly exposed with the tops of her breasts pushed up tight together giving the appearance of deep cleavage she knew to be completely non-existent.
Still she went ahead with the routine, using the unease as leverage to fuel her release. After all she was not called the demon girl for nothing. Clenching her fists she felt the first convulsion course inwardly through her. She could feel her body heating rapidly and imagined that is she pushed it far enough steam and smoke may in fact pour from her nose and ears rising to form a cloud. Outwardly her skin took on a bluish hue and her pupils dilated till all that could be seen where their black depths.
Her body convulsed again and Fletcher's breath caught, the hairs on the back of his neck rising at her beauty. Black smoke began to billow out behind her and he heard the collective astonished gasp of the audience. He knew this was all theatrics but Valkyrie; on stage her soulless eyes and darkened skin where not.
He watched her shudder and her cheat heave against its restraint, her two breasts held tight. Fletcher felt his body jump, he was captivated, he wanted to know everything there was to know about the demon girl and he was going to find out.
Skulduggery huffed this was precisely the reason why he didn't like Fletcher. His sickening persistence, sure other people had been persistent, namely that pale wimp Caelan, but Skulduggery knew that Caelan's attempts where utterly pathetic and barely managed to gain Valkyries attention. Fletcher however went about cementing himself in a different way and it seemed to be working
Valkyrie would laugh at his nonsensical jokes, would smile and be polite and have even voluntarily touched the boys blond hair.
Skulduggery shuddered at the thought. Why was he so concerned anyways, it wasn't like he had that much of a right. Although… he had the most right didn't he? He was valid to feel this way, being her best friend and all. After all who had been the one to welcome her to Ravel's pack of freaks. Who had kept her company as she settled in? Who had heard her screaming and crying fit during long winter nights and fumbled his way blind into her room to comfort her. Hadn't he been the one to save breakfast for her the morning's after as she caught up on missed sleep. Was he not the one who'd tied her corset countless times each morning so she'd be ready for the day? He'd waited always for the knock that signalled he could enter to assist; he'd fix her hair make her presentable, well to Ravel's standards anyway.
Yes! He deserved to feel concerned; if he didn't feel concerned it'd mean he was dead… although, he thought, even then he'd most likely still be concerned.
Skulduggery sighed and looked around the library he'd been sitting in for the last half and hour, lost in his thoughts. Movement to his left caught his eye, and he saw Valkyrie enter, book in hand. A grey dress covered her figure modestly and elegantly compared to her usual corseted attire. She walked with ease and confidence across his line of vision and over to a shelf in the prose section. Another movement entered Skulduggery's vision, his friend and essentially owner, Erskine Ravel moved out of the shadows and walked towards Valkyrie.
Skulduggery observed as Ravel called out to her and Valkyrie jumped dropping her book, Erskine bent to retrieve it handing it to her and placing a hand on her lower back. Valkyrie skulduggery noticed had tensed her body in discomfort from Ravel's contact. Skulduggery furrowed his brow and ran a hand through his thick brow hair. His mind had recalled something she'd said to him a couple of weeks ago, something about inappropriate touches at the dinner table. Skulduggery narrowed his eyes as he watched the two of them he had realised something. Skulduggery didn't like the look of Erskine Ravel either.
