A/N Ok so I'm really sorry. I just had a serious case of writers block. Plus I'm never able to get on the computer. The only computer I was able to get on was a computer given to us by my school, but thanks to all their stupid security settings, fan fiction is blocked and my Wi-Fi at my house wont let me log onto the internet because of all the security. Which sucks because I'm supposed to use it to do school work, but I cant even get on the internet. Whatever, I just got a laptop for Christmas so expect more frequent updates, hopefully. Story time.

Disclaimer: I no own Maximum Ride.

Max POV

"How could you dad?" I whip my head around in Ella's direction. My dad looks at her with a pained expression.

"Ella, you have to understand..."

"Oh then help me understand, cause at this moment, the way it looks, you set us up. You made sure that we were the ones that were taken. And not only are we fighting in the harshest contests, we also have to watch these innocent little kids get exterminated all for the purpose of entertainment." Ella's face was tear streaked. Her eyes were puffy and her cheeks were tinted a light pink.

"Ella, listen, I had no choice..."

"Of course you had no choice, cause that makes sense. Dad, I'm fifteen, I'm not stupid. Everyone gets choices in their life. Whether you make the right one or not is your choice."

"Ella..."

"No, dad I'm done. Just stop." He looked at us. His gaze traveled over all of us, landing on me.

"Max?" What am I supposed to do in this situation? I love my dad, and I trust him. But Ella's right, you get choices, sometimes you're dealt the wrong cards, but what you do with them, it's your choice. I look at him, long and hard. I shake my head and walk up to him.

"Dad, I love you and I always will, but for now, I can't deal with this. When this contest is over, and if we make it out alive, I guess we'll find out the truth. But for now, it's time you go. I love you." He shakes his head at me.

"Max, please."

"I love you." He shakes his head at me.

"I love you too. I love all of you. I'm sorry." We watch him walk out the door. After I know he's gone, I break down. I don't know how I ended up in Fang's arm's but somehow I ended up there, crying into his chest.

After I finally calm down, I look up and see both Maya and Ella balling their eyes out. In that moment, I decided that I didn't care who won this stupid thing, I decided that it's already torn us apart more than we need, and that's gonna stop. We're a family, and we need to start acting like one.

"This test should take you the whole ninety minutes. If you finish early, turn the paper in to me and you are free to head back to your living quarters. You only get ninety minutes, so use them wisely. The test will begin in exactly one minute. If I catch anyone cheating, that's an automatic failure. There are fifty multiple choice, twenty-five fill in the bank, fifteen define and explain, and ten true or false. There is also and essay question at the end. Have fun and begin."

I look down at my paper. The first question reads: What two colors are mixed to get violet? A- Red and blue, B- yellow and blue, C- red and yellow, or D-violet is a primary color.

Well that's easy, it's A.

Question two: What two colors are mixed to get orange? A- Red and blue, B- yellow and blue C- red and yellow, or D- orange is a primary color.

Another easy one, letter C.

That's pretty much how the rest of the test went. Questions like what's a hue? What's the difference between a tint and a shade? Stuff like that. The essay was a little more complicated though. The question read: Imagine you're a senior in high school. It's that time where applications are due. You want to get into an amazing college for art and design. Write up your application including the following: name, age, date of birth, experience, grade point average, talents, and a brief explanation of why you should be picked.

This actually was an easy question though, because I actually do plan on going to college for art and design so I just wrote it as normal. I ended up being first done, so I walked up to the front of the class and handed in my paper. "Thank you Miss Martinez. You are free to go." I nodded and headed back to the room. I opened the door and decided to get into a shower. I got out and changed into a nice pair of fuzzy PJ pants and a Pierce the Veil shirt. They really do have a wide variety of clothing here. I head into the kitchen and heat up some ramen noodles (one of the only foods I can manage to cook). I curl up in a ball on the bean bag chair and turn on the TV, slurping at my noodles.

"Max, Max, MAX, WAKE UP!"

"No, five more minutes."

"Max, wake up, we need to talk."

"That wasn't five minutes," I groan. I roll over and start to doze off again.

"Max, are you seriously asleep again? WAKE UP."

"NO!" I hear the person's foot steps retreating. I grin to myself and fall back to sleep.

*splash* *giggles*

"What the hell?"

"Well you wouldn't wake up, and we have important stuff to talk about." I glare at Nudge.

I get up off the bean bag and grab my bowl off the table. I walk into the kitchen and set it in the sink. I turn and start heading towards the girls area. "Max, where are you going, we need to talk remember."

"Well thanks to you Miss Smarty-pants, I'm soaked, and I don't know about you, but wet clothes aren't comfortable to me." I continue into the room. I grab a different pair of PJ pants, these ones were black with ninja turtles on them, and a panic at the disco shirt.

As I was walking out of the room, my phone started ringing.

"Hello?" I answered. This was weird considering the fact that they disabled the ability to receive and send messages and phone calls.

"Max?"

"Yea, who is this?"

"I can't tell you, but just know that you're dad wasn't lying. He really was forced into this. And your family's in danger."

"Who are you and how do you know all this stuff?"

"I can't tell you but just keep this all in mind. This is all a big game, and you're their pawn. They don't care about your friends, they want you and your sisters."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you, just be careful. As I've always said, 'You may get dealt the wrong cards, but it's what you do with them that makes them count'. Good luck"

I stare at the phone. I recognize the voice, and I know that saying, I use it all the time, but I don't know where I've heard either of them. I figured that I picked up the saying from a movie or a book.

"MAX, hurry up."

I walk back into the living room and see all my friends sitting around the floor. "Max, are you okay?"

I open my mouth to answer but I'm cut off by a voice I know all too well. "Max?"
