*(A/N): Hey guys, it's the last of the trials!
Now, don't get upset about this and don't attack the person who said this either. But basically, someone mentioned that Okami seemed to be a bit over powered. Now I'm mentioning this because it is essential for this chapter.
Okami is not over powered; in fact, we have watched her grow stronger. Back in chapter 5, Yang literally flung Okami all over the place with her hits. And before the trials began, Okami was able to stand Yang's hits but mainly because her aura was out of whack. As a person Okami is a normal faunus like Blake and can take a hit, but with her aura she is slightly stronger than Yang. This is important of later on in this chapter and you'll see why.
I hope you enjoy the chapter and there is an announcement at the end.*
Okami is special.
She doesn't know it yet, but she is. I have been watching her since the day she was born. I've watched her laugh, I've watched her cry, I've watched her suffer; but most importantly, I've watched her survive the most difficult situations no one should ever go through. And for what?
Fear? Arrogance? Jealousy?
She should be considered a hero like her father. In fact, she has done more than her father! It also helps that she has me inside her; a spirit, a second soul.
There are three things that make up a person; body, aura, and a soul/spirit. Without a body, then a soul will have no anchor. Without aura, the body will not be able to function properly. And without a soul, there will be no aura to define them. However, if a person dies there is still a way for them to live on. When they die, a soul becomes a spirit, a living piece of them. The stronger the soul, the stronger the spirit, and the stronger the spirit, they more likely they will be heard.
However, fusing your soul with a spirit can have some…side effects.
One of those side effects is that the living person will be aware of other spirits around them. They would be able to both see and converse with that spirit especially if there is a strong connection between them. Another side effect is that because the body now holds two souls the body will merge the appearance of both souls and make the living soul have their life span reduced greatly. However, both souls can switch back and forth to control the body. And if both souls work together perfectly, great things can be accomplished.
You hear stories of faunus or humans with skills that far surpass people's expectations, it's because they are fused with a spirit.
In order to fuse the souls, both the spirit and the soul have to have the same morals or views. They have to be perfectly balanced and even after they are fused, the spirit can still leave and choose another host.
Seventeen years.
I have stayed with Okami for that long and not even once had I thought about abandoning her and finding someone else. I had been rooting for her since the beginning, and for a very long time I have been looking for someone like her.
Okami has made a lot of mistakes, but it's those mistakes that helped her grow.
She had suffered a great deal, but that suffering is what made her stronger.
She has experienced happiness and joy, and those are what motivate her to achieve peace for both faunus and humans.
Okami doesn't know it, but she is a great person who will accomplish great things. I see it…
And I'm not going to see anything different from that…not for a long time.

The Girl Who Walks With Spirits (A Prophecy Confirmed)
~ Okami ~
"Okami…We have a lot to talk about."
Okami eyed the woman cautiously. It wasn't that she didn't trust her; in fact she felt extraordinarily at ease around her…that's what got her worried.
Okami looked the woman in her eyes and stared into them for what felt like an eternity. She didn't understand why she had this strange sense of calmness around this stranger. However…a part of her kept telling herself this woman indeed is no stranger. That she is someone who Okami can trust.
"Why does this woman feel so…familiar?"
"Your name is Elizabeth Woods, correct?" Okami asked, Elizabeth nodded her head telling Okami to go on. "Have we ever met before?"
Elizabeth slightly smiled but in her eyes there was a look of pain and hurt and with her right hand she tightly gripped her blue scarf. "Not quite, I only got to hold you for a very short while after you were born. I know you quite well, but I'm afraid you may not remember me."
Okami could slowly feel her muscles ease while hearing her voice. It was a beautiful voice, and a voice in which Okami found no lies in. The more she was with Elizabeth, the more Okami felt at ease… As if this woman was releasing Okami from all her responsibilities, all her stress, and all her fears and only left a warming sensation of ease.
Okami nodded. "I remember you enough to know that I can trust you, but I can't remember anything else."
Elizabeth nodded and wore a more pleasant smile. "I think it would be easier to show you the relationship between us rather than just tell you."
Elizabeth turned away and was watching something from far off in the distance; Okami followed her gaze and watched along with her.
Somewhere far in the mist, Okami was able to hear incoherent voices of people, and judging by the sound of it they were angry and looking for someone…
Ten seconds later, Okami was able to see a woman carrying a bundle run towards them. When she got closer, Okami noticed that the woman looked just like Elizabeth with the scarf but different clothes.
The past Elizabeth was panting heavily from running full speed and carrying the bundle in her arms. She stopped to catch her breath and was startled when she heard someone coming from her left.
She was ready to start running when the man emerged from the mist. "Elizabeth, wait! It's me!"
Okami was in pure shock at who she saw.
"…Kenji…"
The past Elizabeth turned at the man's voice. "Kenji, thank god it's you! You startled me!"
Kenji ran over to Elizabeth and pulled her into a tight hug. "What happened, I went over to your house but you weren't there. Next thing I knew, I was being chased by the townsmen."
Elizabeth began crying in Kenji's arms. "They know, Kenji… She was born early and now they know! They want to take her away from me! They want to kill our daughter! They want you dead as well!"
Okami's mind went blank with many thoughts repeating in her head.
"…This is the day I was born…"
"…Elizabeth is my mother…"
"…Is this why I was abandoned…"
"…I thought my mother died…"
"Why am I seeing this now after all this time?"
Kenji released Elizabeth from his hug and looked at the bundle in her hands. Gently, he picked up the bundle and unwrapped a small part of it to see a sleeping baby with brown hair and two tiny fangs in its slightly open mouth.
Kenji smiled and tears of joy streamed down his face. "She's beautiful…just like her mother."
Okami felt herself start to cry, but she held it in and continued to watch as the voices quickly grew closer.
Both the past Elizabeth and Kenji turned towards the voices just in time to see a large group of humans emerge from the mist. The two of them ran to try and escape, but it was pointless and the past Elizabeth knew that as well.
Elizabeth stopped and handed Kenji the bundle, she then took off her scarf and placed it around Kenji's neck. She turned her back and pulled out a bow and an arrow from a quiver on her back.
"Go." Elizabeth said in a harsh and serious tone. "Get out of here while you still can."
"Are you crazy?!" Kenji shouted. "Now is not the time to act like a hero!"
"I'll just hold them off for a little." Elizabeth said while drawing her bow. "I'll catch up with you soon!"
"Is that a promise?" Kenji asked.
Elizabeth didn't respond and he thought that she just didn't hear him. He turned to run but stopped when Elizabeth said his name.
Elizabeth had a warm smile on her face but tears were heavily flowing down her cheeks. "I love you, the both of you… I love you so much…"
She then turned and ran towards the men and Kenji ran in the opposite direction. Soon there was a blood churning scream and Kenji knew that Elizabeth had died…
Kenji kept running until he reached the village where he broke down. He cried and looked at the sleeping child in his arms.
"Your mother is a hero…don't ever forget that." Kenji said as he placed the bundle on the ground and put the scarf around it. "And maybe one day you would be a better hero then the both of us."
He quickly and quietly wiped away his tears as he stood. He looked at the child one last time before running off with tears still lingering in his eyes.
When Kenji left, the air grew silent and still. Soon, in the opposite direction Kenji left, a guardian appeared. This guardian was a one story tall with white fur and golden eyes. Accompanying the guardian was four small wolf cubs, her children.
"That's Homika!"
The guardian saw the small bundle and began to investigate. She walked up to it, sniffed it, and nudged it. Then the bundle started to move and the sound of crying echoed in the silent air. Homika turned ready to walk away, when the sound of a weak bark caught her attention.
One of her cubs, a brown one with a white streak of fur on top of its head and sky blue eyes, was over by the bundle pawing at it. The small wolf's claws were not sharp tickling the bundle causing the child to giggle.
Okami smiled.
"San and I got along even then."
Homika walked back over to the bundle and gently with her jaws picked up the bundle and walked into the woods. After that, the mist grew thicker making it impossible to see anything else.
Okami turned towards Elizabeth… Unable to say anything, Okami threw herself at her mother attempting to hug her. But sadly her mother was part of the mist, causing Okami to just phase threw her.
"Why?" Okami asked on the brink of tears. "Why didn't you promise to come back? If you had, then maybe you would have lived…I would have a family…"
Elizabeth sadly shook her head. "I don't make promises I know I can't keep…and the promises I do make I keep until the end."
Elizabeth walked over to Okami, she placed her right hand on Okami's left cheek and gently wiped the tears away while tears of joy streamed down her own face. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to meet you."
Okami gave a small smile. "Trust me, I think I can relate."
Elizabeth smiled at Okami lovingly. "You are just like your father…that's why I know you'll be a wonderful Alpha."
"No, I won't!" Okami cried in an outburst. "I've made mistakes! People DIED because of me! None of my plans ever work! I can't even connect to my animal instinct because of my human reason! How can I lead a whole faunus people when I'm only HALF faunus and half the one thing faunus hate! Humans hate me because I'm half faunus, and faunus hate me because I'm half human! I'll be a terrible leader because of what I am!"
"It's not about what you are, it's because of who you are is what will make you a great leader." Elizabeth said trying to calm her daughter down. "Yes, you are half human and half Faunus, but that is an advantage! You've seen three worlds; the world of animals, the world of faunus, and the world of humans. You know how they all work and can bring peace between them. Humans and faunus believe they will never get along with each other without bloodshed, but the fact that you exist proves them wrong. You are the sign of a new hope, and are the one from one of the prophecies."
"What prophecy?!" Okami asked frustrated. "Everyone keeps talking about prophecies and I have no idea what they are talking about!"
Elizabeth smiled knowing that her daughter inherited her personality from her mother. "There are six prophecies, all said by the First. One is that one Alpha will sacrifice his own happiness to protect a very special child. The second, an unlikely hero will save the wolf faunus people from destruction. The third is that a descendant of the First, a guardian, will battle Grimm. The fourth is that two sisters will be guardians of two separate worlds. The fifth is that a young child will end a great war. And the last is that new and old heroes will come together to save the world… I believe you are from the second prophecy."
Okami looked confused and sad. "How? I'm not strong enough…"
"Not when you fight for your friends." Elizabeth said starting to walk away.
"I'm sorry I gave your scarf away…" Okami said sadly.
"I'm not upset… I gave it to the man I loved, he gave it to the daughter we both loved, and she gave it to the girl she loves the most."
"Will I ever see you again to talk like this?"
"If we are lucky, then maybe in a dream or two."
"Then when can I be with you? When can we be a family again?"
Elizabeth gave a sad laugh. "Would it be bad if I said, 'I hope not for a long time, you still have a life here'?... I believe you know what to do."
Okami nodded. "…I love you…mom…"
Elizabeth smiled lovingly. "I love you too, Okami…my precious daughter…"
Elizabeth turned and walked away and Okami watched her with go with tears. Soon, she heard someone walk up behind her.
"Do you really believe you can defeat me by yourself?"
"Honestly, I never thought I could." Okami said turning to face the mist Tsume. "I believe I never got to answer you question before we were interrupted."
"Where does the wolf get its strength?" Tsume asked irritated.
"The 'wolf' gets her strength…from her 'pack'."
Tsume glared at Okami. "You will never understand what I had to go through just because of you."
Right before her eyes, Tsume disappeared along with the mist. Okami turned around to find herself face to face with the stone.
"…Okami!..."
Okami jumped up at the sound of her name and turned to the direction it came from. To her surprise, she saw all her friends running towards her.
Okami, not knowing why herself, shouted to them. "STAY BACK! DON'T GET NEAR ME!"
A spit second later, there was the sound of a bow string snap and Okami threw her hand up in time to catch an arrow with purple dust on the tip.
"COME OUT AND FACE ME YOU COWARD!" Okami shouted.
Soon, the real Tsume stepped out of the woods. "You will be the coward once I'm done with you."
Okami now angered activated her gauntlets with her claws out and charged at her sister. Okami swung but Tsume raised her arm to block with her aura, then the most unexpected thing happened…
Once the claws made contact with Tsume's arm, the gauntlet completely shattered. Okami was shocked and while she was distracted, Tsume with her bare left fist punched Okami square in the chest plate. The force caused Okami to fly back and slam into a large rock. Okami felt excruciating pain where she was hit, she looked down to see that the chest plate was also shattered and some pieces were jutting into her.
Okami looked back up in time for Tsume to kick her in the side making loud sickening cracks in the process. Okami somehow got back on her feet, she tried to kick her sister square in the chest with all her strength but Tsume blocked and Okami felt her leg break on impact. Tsume then grabbed Okami's arm and threw her back to the tomb stone. When Okami hit the ground, she landed on her left shoulder wrong and felt it pop out of socket.
"I'll leave alone for now, but take my advice… Get as far away as possible before the deadline, because I WILL find you and I will KILL you." Tsume then turned and walked back into the woods.
Okami rolled over and started coughing violently; when she opened up her eyes she saw that she was coughing up blood. Ai ran over to her and helped her sit up.
"Okami, are you okay?" Ai asked worriedly.
"Nope… Feel like crap…" Okami said with pain lingering in each word. "Can you do me a favor and grab the stuff?"
Ai nodded and ran down a stair case that was previously blocked by the tomb stone. Urufu did her best to try to heal Okami with her reserve of aura until she ran out. Team RWBY helped Okami onto her feet; she had to use Yang to lean on since she couldn't put pressure on her right leg. Okami looked down and was surprised that the amulet looked perfectly fine.
Okami's vision started to blur when Ai came back and placed something in Okami's right hand. The object was too long and heavy for Okami to hold at the moment so she ended up dropping it and fell on her back.
The last thing she remembered before blacking out was Ai crying over her…
~ Beacon Infirmary ~
She awoke with bright lights staring down at her. She blinked a few times to get the spots out of her vision. At first she wondered where she was, but she soon found out when she heard the steady beeping of the machines next to her. She felt something heavy on her leg so she sat up to investigate. She was surprised by what she saw.
On her right leg was a cast that went up to her knee, but what really surprised her was the sleeping face of Ai. Not really knowing why, Okami started to stroke Ai's hair. Okami's movement stirred Ai causing her to wake up. Ai blinked a few times in disbelief and Okami smiled at her.
"Hey princess, you miss me?" Okami said in a very weak voice.
Ai smiled with tears of joy streaming down her face and threw her arms around Okami's neck. "Okami!"
As quickly as it happened, Ai removed her arms from Okami and quickly averted her eyes. Was she blushing?
Soon after, the door opened revealing team RWBY and Aleks. They all grew a huge smile on their faces when they saw that Okami was awake.
"Sup guys?" Okami said in a voice so weak it startled her.
They came in and gave Okami a hug and sat down in the room when Blake finally broke the silence. "How are you feeling?"
"I've had better days…"
"I would imagine!" Weiss spoke up. "Three broken ribs, right leg broken, left arm dislocated, and chest punctured by your own armor!"
Okami's ears perked up. "My gear? What happened?"
Everyone looked away nervously, then Yang walked out of the room and quickly came back in carrying a pile in her arms. She handed it to Okami. "I don't think it's possible to fix it…I'm sorry…"
Okami picked up the first object, her gauntlets. As soon as she picked it up it fell apart in her arms. The claws on one were bent and unusable while the claws on the other were completely gone. She then picked up her armor and saw that many pieces were missing and in the chest plate was a huge jagged hole.
Okami sighed. "How did this happen?"
"You should be asking how you survived!" Ruby stated. Everyone else nodded in agreement.
"…And what about the stuff we went to retrieve?..." Okami asked worriedly.
"The sword and armor is back in our room. " Ai said, she then handed Okami what looked like a mask. "I did bring you this though, it was one of the things your father was known for…"
Okami took it and held it in her hands staring at it. Sure enough, it was a mask. The mask was pure white and over the right eye was what looked like a burn mark to represent the day the village was under siege. On the left side of the mask was the original Kiba family emblem. The mask itself was small, the sides looked like the fur of a wolf and at the bottom was four fangs poking down.
Okami just stared at it remembering what little fond memories she had of her father. Aleks told her to try it on so she did. As soon as she put it on everyone else gasped so Okami took it off and saw why.
The mask had changed… The shape of it was exactly the same but what was on it had changed. The main color was sky blue with a white diagonal line on the right side and over the right eye were the current White Fang claw marks in red. Then on the left side was a black tree going diagonal over the left eye.
The shock then turned into awkward silence, so Okami turned to Ai. "What kind of swords are they?"
Ai quickly snapped out of her shock. "It's a ninjato… Tsume often practiced using a katana with me, but her main weapon of choice is an odachi…"
"What?!" Okami shouted in disbelief. "But an odachi is twice the size of a ninjato! I would be way overwhelmed!"
The door than opened with a nurse stepping into the room. "Alright, visiting hours are over! Time to go!"
Everyone started to say their good nights to Okami but when it came time for Aleks, Okami grabbed his arm. "Can I talk to you alone for a bit?"
The nurse said it would be fine as long as it was quick and he left as soon as they were done. Aleks stayed behind with Okami as she told him all about what happened to her in the mist. Aleks listened closely until she was finished.
"So you got to meet your mother?" Aleks asked.
Okami nodded. "Everyone says that I'll be a great leader and that I'm some kind hero and it's my destiny… But I don't think so, I'm caught between a rock and a hard place…"
Okami looked over to Aleks and saw pain on his face and sorrow in his eyes and what he said made Okami realize why.
"You know, you're lucky in a way." Aleks said in a soft voice. "You come from a whole line of heroes and you're destined for greatness… Me, I came from an ordinary family that was murdered by a male bull faunus. I don't even remember anything about my family but yet I'm on this endless quest to avenge them. You were an orphan but at least you know where you came from, but me…I'm the true orphan…"
Okami sat up and hugged Aleks. "What was your family name?"
Aleks shook his head. "I don't remember, it was one of the memories I erased to keep me from going insane… I don't even remember my own name…"
Okami pulled his head up and looked him right in the eye. "Then how about I give you my name?"
Aleks looked at her surprised. "What?"
"The past doesn't matter anymore, what matters is the present and what your future will bring." Okami told him then smiled. "You now have a second chance at life! Besides, we are practically siblings already!"
Okami then stopped smiling and looked out the dark window. "Plus…if anything was to happen to me, I don't want Tsume to ruin the family name…"
It then got quiet and it made Okami nervous, but then Aleks spoke. "Aleksander Kiba… I like the sound of that."
Okami turned to see Aleks smiling at her. "'It's Aleks for short', right Aleks onii-chan?"
Aleks and Okami busted up laughing and Aleks brought them back on topic. "As for you being a hero…'although I miss the little girl, you made me awfully proud…and how the times have changed cause you're my hero now.'"
Okami cocked up an eye brow. "What the hell does that mean?"
"It means I think you are a hero." Aleks said as he walked to the door. "I'm starting on my journey again, so this is the last you will see me for a small while."
"Aleks, wait!" Okami said making him stop at the door. "Have you ever questioned yourself asking if what you are doing is right? Cause I am…"
"In that case, then you are on the right path." Aleks said with a smile. "Travel safely, sis…"
Aleks then closed the door and left.
"…It's the arrival I'm worried about…" Okami said to herself.
"There is nothing to worry about, in the end it will be good."
Okami was startled by Mei's voice.
"It's about time you show up…What do you want from me?"
"Okami, I have been searching for a long time for someone like you."
"Okay, but why?"
"Because I believe that with your help we can change this world for the better."
"Isn't that a bit extreme?"
"No, you may not realize it but you can accomplish great things."
"Okay…but then what's in it for me?"
"If you agree to help me and fuse souls…I will help you put a stop to Tsume's plans."
"You will help me stop my sister?"
"Only if you help me stop the madness in this world."
Okami stopped and thought about it.
"Fine, I'll help you."
"Are you sure? If we are to fuse souls then your life will be-"
"I don't care! I don't care if my life will reach an untimely end! All that matters is the safety of this world!"
Mei bean to giggle and grew irritated by it.
"Spoken like a true hero…now close your eyes and clear your mind."
Okami did just that and she felt a strange comfort of warmth flood over her. During this Okami could hear Mei speaking.
"'Your blood is cold, from shadows I burn with my enemies fear and nightmares.'… The very words the First spoke before her final battle. We ask to borrow her strength and courage in our time of need and let her witness this bond between two souls."
Okami felt her body get warmer and warmer then finally stopped. Then Mei spoke once more.
"It is done, don't use your aura for a while unless really needed… You and I will achieve greatness."
After that, Mei stopped talking and Okami felt a strange sensation of peace. Then she heard something by the window and looked to see Ai climb in.
"How did you get up here?" Okami asked.
"You're not the only one who can climb a tree." Ai said with a smile then quickly removed it. "If you would like, I could teach you how to fight with a sword."
Okami smiled. "That would be great."
"Good, I guess I'll be going now…" Ai said starting to go back out the window.
"Wait!" Okami said while grabbing Ai's arm. "Why don't you stay with me tonight?"
Ai blushed and nodded. "Sure…"
Ai walked over to the chair but then Okami said they could share the bed. Ai got under the sheets and wrapped her arms around Okami. Shortly after, Ai was sleeping soundly.
Okami started to run her hands through Ai's hair and whispered to herself. "I love you Ai…"
Okami then kissed her on the top of her head and wrapped her arms around Ai. Okami eventually fell asleep with a smile on her lips.
That night was the best night of sleep Okami ever had.
