Zuko & Katara
Katara
It's been twenty-two days since I left the Fire Nation. The fun moon has visited us six days ago and my Waterbending returned, but Zuko's lashes remained. Sarah, the water nurse said she could heal the lashes-I could heal them on my on-but I told her no and returned to my tent. Sokka has brought me meals of fish, that I have refused and Father has tried to talk sense into me, but I don't dare look into his eyes. Aang, oh Aang, I feel just comes to tell me that he's sorry.
I hear talk about the invasion and that we are close to the end of the war; the cheering that concludes from one of my father's speeches. It makes me cry, and I wrap myself into a fur blanket waiting for him. I felt like all I was doing was dehydrating myself again, but I no longer cared. I didn't care about anything except those gold eyes I dreamt about.
Aang
"Let her go," I said closed my eyes briefly.
"What?!" Sokka is in disbelief and I don't blame him. "We have done everything to get her back! We fooled the Fire Nation-!"
"-And it's amazing the Lord and Prince aren't here now melting this God-forsaken place!"
"Don't!" Sokka starts, "Don't talk about my birthplace in vain, Avatar!"
"I'm sorry," I apologized to my friend. "Sokka, I've missed Katara over these past couple of months, but it's not like she's even here. She's gone."
"What do you mean she's gone? I swear Aang, if you're telling me-."
"That's exactly what I'm telling you," I start to him, "she's killing herself here. Besides, I've had dreams and she's not meant to live here. Not herself and eventually not the-."
"Not the what, Aang?"
I realized I talked, and revealed to much about my dreams that foreshadowed the future. "Nothing, Sokka, it was nothing. I'll go to the Fire Nation tomorrow morning."
"No you will not."
Sokka and I both look towards the opening of the tent. A rush of cold air follows Sokka's and Katara's father.
"Thank you! Someone will tell Aang this is bullshit!" Sokka charges to his father's side.
"No Sokka," his father starts. "Aang's right. Katara is going back. She's nothing to us anymore. She's still family, but her heart is gone. No, I can't have a child with a broken heart. Zuko will arrive tonight in an Earth Tribe boat. He will take Katara and go to the Earth Kingdom. They will live peacefully in Full Moon Bay until Sozin's Comet returns and this war is over."
"Father," Sokka starts, taking a calming breath. "Don't we need both of them, during the comet? You know...to defeat Azula and Ozai?"
"I know," continues his father. "When Zuko gets here, we'll discuss war matter."
Zuko
The Earth Tribe boat pushes up to the end of the Southern Water Tribe. The snow is coming down gently as I walk towards the gang walk. My black boots make loud thuds on the woods as I walk from the boat and onto the snowy surface.
"Zuko," Hakoda meets me on the snowy shore.
"Where is she?" I don't even have small talk.
"My daughter," starts Hakoda, "is not ready yet. "We, on the other hand, need to discuss the comet."
I straighten my back and nod, "Let's talk."
I followed Hakoda to a tent partially away from all the others. When we entered it was warm and unnerving with eyes staring at me.
"Sokka, Aang." I nodded to them.
They both nodded back, without saying a word.
"We'll keep this short," Hakoda said over a hot cup go something. "The comet will arrive in three months. We will isolate you and Katara until them, but we need you both to fight your sister and father."
"I understand," I tell him.
"Good, we have found you a home in Full Moon Bay and you'll have guards with you," Hakoda explained. I nodded with everything he said. Once we all agreed, Sokka and Aang started to talk about battle moves and Hakoda brought me outside.
"Thank you," I said to him.
"Don't thank me yet," he crosses his arms after he points to a tent with no light coming from it. "She's in there."
I turned towards the tent, but her father stops me.
"Zuko, you're a good guy, but you get her pregnant during this war and I'll kill you myself."
All I did was nod as my feet crunched the snow towards her tent, and I used to my bending to get my hands warm to touch her cold skin.
