Please Say You'll Think of Me
Zuko & Katara
Zuko
We arrived in Full Moon Bay as the sun was making its journey upwards into the dark sky. Katara laid her head on my chest as I heard a brief knock on the wooden ship door.
"Sir, we're here." It was Jet. Fuck, I still need to tell her all about the Freedom Fighters and Jet and how Aang and I saved him from his hypnosis before he was murdered.
"Thanks, Jet," I said but in return Katara turned her head gently on my bare chest. Her blue eyes fluttered open and she caught hold of my own. "Good morning," I whisper as I skim a piece of her brunette hair behind her ear.
"Good morning," she said before she yawned and straightened her fingers over my chest. "Am I still dreaming?"
"No, Baby," I tell her. "I'm real and you're real. This is real. You aren't in the Southern Water Tribe anymore."
"Oh," she looked down and leaned up, almost like she was trying to get away from me. "My father, Sokka, Aang-."
"They're fine," I tell her, leaning up on my elbows and placing a delicate kiss on her lips. "They put us in hiding. Katara, I can't live without you. I learned that these-."
"Where were you, then?" She questions me as her brows furrow in anger. "Why didn't you come sooner?
"I couldn't. My father, he-."
"Bullshit," she mutters as she escapes the warmth of the fur blanket and reaches for her bending clothes. "I wished for you every night, Zuko. You told me you would find me, and that I wouldn't be waiting long. I was depressed without you. I was heartbroken."
"I know," I say as I stand up in full nakedness. "You are everything to me, Katara. I had to bargain with my father that I was hunting down the Avatar to be with you. He demanded my sister come with me, but I refused and told him I could do this on my own."
"Your sister?" She wraps her torso into her blue clothing. "You're stupid to think she is not following us.
"She wouldn't. She hates it here." I reached for my black pants and pull them up my legs. I glance at the color of the black satin as it wraps around my thighs. I then notice the blue of Katara's clothing and in contrast, together we are the perfect blend of a nice bruise.
"How can you be so sure?" She leans back on the fur and looks up at me.
"She'll want to find the Avatar herself." I bend down and place a kiss on her forehead, but before I leave the softness of her skin I whisper, "Aang already knows. He and Sokka are in hiding."
"Are you sure we're safe?" A crease appears on her forehead and I smooth it away with the pad of my thumb.
"You're safe as long as you're with me. I love you Katara and nothing in this world can ever separate us."
Her blue eyes blaze into mine. "I love you too, Zuko. My love for you will never falter."
My lips brush against hers as I inhale her exhale. "I'm always thinking of you. In my thoughts and dreams, Katara. You'll never need to worry about my love for you. We are fire and ice. Complete opposites, but incredible forces. You've taught me how to love and how to be loved. You are my everything, you are mine."
