Hey guys this is part 1 of the prequel entitled You Want Me. Originally I had planned for this to be only one chapter but it is already longer than a normal one and only covered half of what I have planned hence the two parts.

This is meant to show the early stages of Kaname and Zero's relationship, taking place about three years prior to the events of the main story. Each of the bolded statements are Kaname addressing Zero at each step they take in their relationship.

I am hoping you guys like this and I hope you will drop me a review/shout out. I love hearing from you guys and it made me a bit discouraged when there were no reviews for the last chapter I posted. While I enjoy finally getting to finish this story, there are still a lot of things in my life that need my time like college, an internship, family life, and writing my own novel.

Anyways, let me know if you want part 2 next week or do you want a regular chapter in between with part 2 coming in 2 weeks instead and please enjoy.

You Want Me

"You want me." It's amazing how those three little words affected him. There was not a trace of question in that husky voice, the sheer confidence of it simply taking his breathe away.

Zero swiveled around in his chair to meet shinning garnet eyes, "In your dreams, Kuran."

"Are you sure?" Kaname smirked as he leaned over the hunter, placing a hand on his desk.

"Kaname, leave Zero alone. He's already uncomfortable enough just being here with all of us." Takuma admonished his friend, noting that Zero's cheeks turned surprisingly pink.

"I would but it's been awhile since the Night Class has been this interesting. Oh, hello Yuki." Kaname waved to his younger sister as she hurried to her seat next to Zero.

"Where were you dummy?" The hunter breathed a sigh of relief as the attention was turned to the out of breath brunette, "Did you oversleep again?"

"It's not my fault, Yori and I were busy."

"Busy doing what? Spending some quality time together, hmm?"

"None of your business, Zero Kiryu. And you wipe that smirk off of your face, Kaname Kuran. We don't get to spend as much time together now that I'm in the Night Class." Yuki fumed as her brothers continued to egg her on.

"Promise me you'll at least let Hanabusa down easily, my dear sister." Kaname slid into his seat at the desk behind Yuki and Zero, "He is going to be so heartbroken that you are already taken."

"What does Hanabusa has to do with this?"

Takuma barely looked up from the book he had propped up on his spot next to Kaname, pointing a slender finger with a smile "Just look over there."

The blonde in question sat across the room, next to Kain and Ruka, his wide blue eyes constantly drifting from his cousin to Yuki when he thought the younger pureblood wouldn't notice. Seeing the four vampires had noticed him watching, Aido's gaze sunk to the wooden surface of his desk, his cheeks blazing red.

While the rest of the vampires managed to hide their amusement, Zero let out a noticeable snort at the sight of the normally shameless flirt of a noble suddenly become a shy school boy.

"Do you find something amusing, Mr. Kiryu?" Yagrai Toga asked as he entered the room, taking his normal stance of leaning against the room's blackboard. While the elder hunter would never admit it, he had only taken the full time job as the Night Class's instructor after he learned that Zero would join the class. He cared deeply for the boy, enough to know Zero's pride would be taking down a notch if he knew his mentor had gone out of his way to watch out for him.

"No, of course not Master." Zero's response was immediate, the sarcasm not lost on the very man who had instilled that attitude in him from a young age.

"Don't be a smart ass, Kiryu." Yagrai smirked before he turned and began to right the night's lesson on the board.

Zero had to physically control the bout of laughter that welled up inside of him as Kaname leaned over his desk once more to whisper, "Just as long as Hanabusa doesn't stare at our sister's ass, I'm fine."

"Between the two of us, he doesn't stand a chance."

You Notice Me

"Kuran, open up." Zero called from outside of the pureblood's door, not caring about the racket he was making.

"Zero, what a pleasant surprise but I am afraid I am not interested in buying any Girl Scout cookies this fine evening." Kaname opened the door only enough to shoot the irate hunter a smirk before he started to retreat back to the safety of his dorm.

"Oh no you don't!" Zero wedged his foot in the doorway, kicking the door in, before pushing Yuki into the room, "I have been trying to tutor Yuki for the past three hours; it's your turn. She's your sister too, you know."

"No, please come in." the pureblood sighed as the younger vampires plopped down on his couch. A small smile playing on his lips as they were instantly buried under a mound of paper and books. He really didn't mind having Yuki and Zero over, surprised how they had felt comfortable enough to come over to his dorm on their terms.

When they had grown up with Head Master Cross, Yuki and Zero had never been fully comfortable around him, Yuki being terribly shy while Zero was still clouded with hatred for all vampires. Now they had started to let him into their lives; Yuki looking up to him as her 'good' brother, her words not his, while Zero… well, he was not sure how the young hunter saw him anymore.

"Move over Zero, I'm not going to sit on your lap." He tapped the hunter's leg so there would be enough room for him to sit on the other side of the couch, Yuki in the middle of them, "No, what are you having so much trouble with Yuki?"

For the next few hours, the three of them worked together, Kaname leading the lecture on the vampire history Yuki was having trouble keeping straight while Zero helped her with the essay that was due by the end of the week. Kaname didn't mind tutoring his sister, happy to be able to share the rich history of their culture that he had grown up learning about but Yuki hadn't. As he poured over the text, even Zero stopped to listen to what the pureblood had to say, having only learned about vampires from the perspective of a vampire hunter.

When he finally looked up from the books, Kaname was surprised to see that Zero's eyes had been focused on the smooth side of his neck that had been peeking out from under his uniform jacket. The pools of lilac were unfocused almost dazed when they finally realized that they had been caught, slowly traveling up the pale column of flesh until they met the pureblood's garnet gaze. As the two vampires stared at one another the same thought echoed through their minds; how long have I been noticing him like that?

You Accept Me

"Alright vampires, lesson's over and I want to go to sleep so get your asses out of here."

Zero smiled at his mentor's gruff dismissal, gathering up his papers before turning to Yuki, "So what tutoring do you need tonight?"

"Actually, I'm all caught up with my lessons thanks to you and Kaname so I promised Yori we would have a girls' weekend."

At the mention of his name, Kaname came over, "What's happening?"

"Well, apparently now that she learned what she needed to, Yuki is done with us. She's ditching us to spend her weekend in Yori's arms." Zero sighed dramatically, "I feel so used."

"You'll get over it." Yuki huffed as she said goodnight to her two brothers, "See you guys Monday."

"While I like that she's come out of her shell, sometimes I miss the sweet little girl she used to be." Kaname joked, leaning back on the hunter's desk, "So Zero, any plans for this weekend?"

"Not really; normally I spent Saturday being dragged around by Yuki and then Sunday with the Hunter's Association. I guess I'll go into town, maybe browse the bookstore, before I have to go to work. What about you?"

"Pretty much the same, I have a mile high pile of paperwork waiting for me back in my office. Speaking of which, I think you left one of your notebooks over there last night. Do you want to come over and get it?"

"Might as well." Zero agreed as the two unknowingly fell into step with one another.

As they arrived at Kaname's dorm, Zero realized for the first time that not only was he alone with the pureblood for the first time in years but he had willingly put himself in that situation. He felt keenly aware just how much he had let his guard down around the other vampire, which did not bother him as much as how keenly aware he was now becoming of the vampire himself.

"Zero?" Kaname had been bending over to retrieve the notebook on his couch when he felt the hunter's gaze on his neck and turned to see the ring of red coloring his eyes, "Don't take this the wrong way, but when was the last time you fed?"

"I…" Zero felt himself grow speechless, the usually angry response he would have shot at the brunette caught in his chest, "I haven't been drinking from Yuki all month, I don't want to keep on using her. Even now as a vampire, she doesn't tolerate losing as much blood as I need very well."

At hearing this admission, Kaname placed an understanding hand on his shoulder, "You really shouldn't go out on patrol hungry. What if someone got hurt, would you be able to control yourself?"

"You're right but I can't go to her. If I drink from her now, Yuki won't be able to spend as much time with Yori and she doesn't deserve that."

"I wasn't suggesting that either." Kaname reached out to cup Zero's chin, tilting his head so their eyes met, "If you are ever in need of blood, I want you to come to me."

"Do you know what you're asking?"

"I do not offer my blood to everyone Zero, only those who deserve it."

For the first time in his life, Kaname submissively stretched his neck to the side, offering himself to the hunter. He would never admit the shyness he felt as Zero's gaze turned hungry, looking at him like he was the most delicious meal he had ever seen. Or the slight thrill he felt when Zero's lips pressed against his throat, the precursor to the razor sharp fangs that hid just behind their softness. His eyes slipped closed as Zero's fangs pierced his pure flesh and drank from him.

"Zero…" the pureblood's voice came out more as a moan than he intended. Having only shared his blood with his sister, Kaname had never experienced how pleasurable a bite could feel, even with the inexperience the hunter had, a trail of excess blood dripping down his neck.

The same could be said for Zero, the silverette slowly becoming overwhelmed by the richness and power of Kaname's pure blood. For the first time, he understood the allure blood had for other vampires. None of the guilt he felt when he fed from Yuki was there and as he drank freely from the pureblood he felt something he had never felt before, his hunger was satisfied. "Kaname…"

"God", the pureblood thought as Zero's fangs slowly left his neck and his tongue lapped up the rest of the blood from the bite, "this man will be the death of me yet. Yet somehow he makes it appealing."

You Need Me

"Yuki, why are we here when Kaname's out of town?" Zero asked as Yuki threw herself down on the couch in Kaname's dorm.

"I don't know, I guess I got used to coming over here to study." Yuki shrugged before opening up her notebook, "Come on, we have that test on Friday and I still don't remember section seven."

"That still doesn't explain why we're here."

"You seem grumpy. Is it because you miss Kaname?" the brunette teased until her eyes widen in shock, "Oh my goodness, it's because you're hungry isn't it? Zero, I haven't given you blood all month! Why didn't you remind me?"

"I'm fine." Zero huffed, hiding the flush that had appeared on his cheeks.

"No you're not." Yuki insisted, pulling her hair to the side. When Zero did not take her invitation, Yuki pulled on his shirt until he fell on top of her, his face hovering over her neck. Before the hunter could protest, she used her sharpened nail to create a shallow cut on her neck.

"Yuki…" Zero groaned in frustration. She was right, he was hungry but the scent of her blood did not hold the same draw that it used to. As he lapped up the trail of blood that threatened to stain the collar of her class uniform, Zero admitted that even the taste of her blood did nothing for him. "Yuki stop, it's not working."

"Zero…" As her adoptive brother helped her sit up, tears welled up in her wide brown eyes, "Please, don't say that. If my blood doesn't work then you… you'll become a Level E."

"No, no. I'm fine Yuki."

"How can I when you're dying?"

"I'm not, Yuki…someone else gave me blood." Zero mumbled, wishing he could just disappear, "I guess I am more drawn to his blood than yours now."

"Have you met someone? Who is she…wait a minute his blood? I never saw you hanging out with any of the guys from the Day Class back when we were still in it. Is it someone from the Night Class? It is, isn't it? Hmm, it can't be Kain or Hanabusa….maybe Takuma, he's always been very nice to you…"

"Why don't you ask your brother?" Zero blurted out to get the excited brunette to stop talking but the moment he did, the hunter regretted it.

"Why would Kaname know…oh my god, you two didn't."

Quickly becoming flustered, Zero picked up the nearest textbook and shot Yuki a look, "Yes we did. Now if you want me to help you pass Friday's test, you will drop the subject and focus on what we came here to do and study."

That shut the brunette up and she quickly immersed herself in her notes.

"Well, you two look cozy."

At the sound of that familiar voice, Zero shot awake to find a certain pureblood smirking down at him. Trying to mask his embarrassment at being caught off guard, Zero glared "What are you doing here, Kuran? I thought you had a business trip this weekend."

"The meeting wrapped up early, but then again I don't think I need an excuse to spend time in my own dorm."

"You're dorm…" It was at that moment the hunter realized that he had fallen asleep in Kaname's dorm, he and a still sleeping Yuki where currently sprawled on the pureblood's couch. "Dammit Yuki."

"Ahh, that makes more sense. Come on, let's get the little trouble maker back to her room." Kaname smiled as he scooped his sister into his arms.

They filed into the hall, Zero holding open the door so the siblings could get through. Once again the once enemies found themselves falling into step with one another as the traveled to the Sun Dorm where Yuki still lived with Yori.

While Kaname held onto Yuki, Zero knocked on the door, waiting for Yori to answer. However when the door did open, the duo were greeted by a certain blonde noble.

"Aido?"

"Kaname?"

"Aido?"

"Zero?"

"Who is it Hanabusa?" Yori's head popped out from the doorway where the three vampires were staring at each other with wide eyes, "Hey Zero, Kaname. I see that's where Yuki disappeared to. Hanabusa, why don't you take her inside to bed?"

"Ok, dear." Aido took the sleeping Yuki from her still stunned silent brothers.

"Thank-you Yori, we will see ourselves out." Kaname tried his best to regain his normal demeanor, "And Aido… we will discuss this later."

Before they left Yuki shifted in the blonde's arms, murmuring "Zero…ask Kaname later."

After they bid a paling Aido goodbye and they were walking back to Kaname's dorm, the pureblood asked, "So, do I even want to know what Yuki meant by that?"

"I told Yuki about…you know.." Zero's eyes were glued to the floor as he silently cursed the Kuran siblings and their unique ability to make him tongue tied.

"Do I?"

"About me drinking from you, you jerk."

Kaname hid a smile behind his hand, "And may I ask how this topic came up?"

"Yuki tried offering me her blood but it no longer works for me, because…" Boy Zero was getting tired of the heat that rushed to his cheeks as he finally admitted, "my hunger is only satisfied by yours."

"Zero, it's perfectly natural. My blood is that of one of the oldest vampire families and while Yuki is my sister, her time as a human has weakened the power of her vampire side. When I made my original offer to you I knew that this was a possibility and I don't regret it. You deserve to find peace after the years you've spent fighting your hunger."

"You knew it was a possibility and yet you did it?" Zero could not hide his shock.

Kaname gave the hunter a genuine smile despite the teasing tone that entered his voice again, "I just told you why, Zero; please pay attention. Now, would you like to come in?"

"Yes, I think I would despite the fact that I still think you're a jerk. I have been getting hungry." Zero returned the smile as he pinned the pureblood to the wall, burying his face into the crook of his neck.

"I can live with that." Kaname hummed, the unexpected pleasure of being bitten by the hunter washed over him, "I still think you're a jerk too."
