Hi all, been a loooong time since I have been on here...

This was stuck on my mind for a while, so had to get it out.

This is a Older Naruto fic. It is not a crossover, but some aspects of Mortal Kombat and Daredevil are involved. The prologue should give you an idea as to why

I write to develop my penmanship, so any tips are helpful

Trading Destiny

Chapter 2

Naruto still couldn't believe what had happened. The Sandaime had basically set him up to fail from the beginning. He knew that meeting someone for the first time, after believing that you were alone in the world, would be upsetting. He knew that he should have sought out his sister in his own time, sitting down and explaining everything to her. He knew that that would have been better than to be introduced in the Hokage's tower. After all, Naruto figured that the Sandaime had somehow planned this. He wanted to confront Jiraiya when he had first heard rumours of the Kyuubi Jinchuriki from Konoha, but didn't have the chance to bring it up. Naruto knew that his mother was the last Jinchuriki, so he was confused as to whom this Jinchuriki was.

Flashback

Naruto and Jiraiya had just entered the Land of Waves. They had to walk over a long bridge to get there, but it was worth the walk. The bridge itself was what interested Naruto. It was long but it also had an inscription placed at the beginning and at the end. The inscription read.

The Great Kira Bridge

It was interesting because this is the second time he had heard the name Kira. The first was when he was travelling near the Kumo borders. He had heard people talk about a young group of Gennin from Konoha. He had heard the names Uchiha, Sai and Kira. He overheard some ninja's talking about a demon in girls' skin. Of course this wasn't much to go off of. The issue was that Naruto understood what it meant by the word 'Demon'. He knew the last 'Demon' of Konoha. His mother had been feared as a 'Demon' by those around, especially those outside of Konoha.

Whilst walking into town, Naruto started listening and paying attention to some of the conversations. Some of the locals were telling stories of how corruption and greed had been thwarted by a group of Shinobi from Konoha. The stories were explained to travelling merchants who were wondering why Nami no Kuni opened up to trading all of a sudden.

Hearing the stories of a team from Konoha that are both ruthless and merciful, vicious and just, had Naruto thinking of a team that could rival the Legendary Sannin. Other stories he heard were of the hero who some dubbed a demon, and others claimed an angel of death.

End Flashback

Ever since that mission, Naruto started to withdraw from his usual discussions with Jiraiya and started doing his own thing. What made it worse was that Naruto knew that Jiraiya was in on the secret. That was the reason why Jiraiya let him go ahead, to ensure that he found out without getting an earful from Naruto.

Naruto walked the streets looking for an inn to stay at. The problem was that most of them where already full because of the start of the Chuunin exam. Many people had the inns booked for the whole month, meaning that they'd be here from the beginning to the end of the exams. Naruto was about to check another inn when he felt the presence of his sister. He also felt the presence of eight other people in close vicinity. Three of them felt like kids, possibly even academy students. Three where in hiding but Naruto could still feel them. It's as if the wind was whispering in his ears, telling him their exact locations.

It felt as if Naruto's sister was facing off against two of the presences. Both smelt of makeup, but one was obviously a girl, whilst the other was a guy. He could also pick up the scent of oil, poison, metal and wood together. A bad combination any day.

Instead of approaching the scene, Naruto felt the need to 'observe'. With that thought, he disappeared only to reappear on the building overlooking the scene below.

"Why don't you let them go?" Naruto heard his sister say. He was slightly surprised with the tone that she used. Her voice was cold, and had an undertone of rage in it. He knew if she spoke to him this way, he'd feel devastated.

"Look at this sis, another brat come to the rescue." Spoke the young man holding onto the kid.

"Kankuro, let's just go. It's not worth the hassle". Spoke the sister. The guy, Kankuro, just laughed.

"Yeah you're right I guess. Stupid brats should know their places" he stated, before throwing the kid to the ground. With that he turned and started walking away.

"So it seems that the Suna and Konoha alliance is in jeopardy?" Kira stated, causing the two Suna ninjas to stop and look back over their shoulders at her. "To cause fights in Konoha is frowned upon and punishment is extreme if caught. Manhandling the grandson of the Third Hokage however, is dangerous and could cause the fragile alliance to crumble." Kankuro turned and was about to reply but his sister beat him to the punch.

"It seems that we got off on the wrong foot, we are Gennin from Suna here for the Chuunin exams." Tamari could feel the slow rise of Kira's chakra and knew that she was strong. What was worse was the casual manner in which Kira spoke to her. If it came to a fight, the siblings might win, if they worked together.

"What the hell Tamari, giving this young brat information. Information is valuable in this day and age." Kankuro spoke. Tamari just gazed at him, trying to get him to be quiet. Kira was unfazed and just gazing with an untellable stare. Kankuro looked back at Kira about to re-ignite the argument, but stopped short when he felt the KI floating his way. He thought that the KI directed towards him felt somewhat similar and reminded him of his brother. Tamari felt the same and both Kankuro and Tamari silently gulped.

On top of the roof, Naruto felt the presence of three new individuals. One had the demonic infused feel like his sister, but smelt strongly of sand and blood. Naruto knew who Kankuro and Tamari were, and he also knew that the presence belonged to their Jinchuuriki Brother. The other two shinobi felt calm and composed and it seemed they were merely observing. The first smelt strongly of ink and was almost hidden well. The lasts shinobi felt a little like his long lost friend, but only younger. Naruto felt an air of calm over these last three shinobi.

"It seems that an apology is needed?" Kira spoke. She felt the presence of her teammates and knew that they had her back no matter what.

"Kankuro, Tamari. Don't cause trouble." Spoke a dead, haunted voice from the tree line. Kira looked over in slight shock. She had felt the presence of her teammates but disregarded this final presence.

"But we didn't start anything." Kankuro started speaking, only to remain silence at the look from his younger brother.

The third ninja disappeared and reappeared out of the sand next to his siblings. Just as he did that, Sasuke and Sai appeared standing next to Kira. The team from Suna was facing off against the team from Konoha. Before anyone spoke however, another presence appeared in between the group.

"I believe that this match can wait until the Chuunin exams start." Spoke a slightly board monotonous voice. Naruto didn't really feel this presence until it was almost too late. It was as if the person knew when to appear and when to hide.

"The exam will start in a few days, until then, please keep your emotions and violence in check." Here the ANBU looked at each member of the two groups.

Naruto was slightly shocked at the presence of the ANBU. The ANBU felt familiar to him and Naruto cracked a huge smile once he figured out who it was.

The team from Suna looked at the ANBU member and apologised before walking away. The young boy, whom was the cause of the incident, felt like running away from the beginning, however he remained to determine the final outcome.

The team from Konoha disappeared in a shunshin as soon as the Suna team was out of sight, their destination unknown to both Naruto and the ANBU member. The three young academy students, for that is what they were, thanked the ANBU for his help before running off and causing more trouble for their respected families.

Naruto didn't miss the presence of the last three people appearing briefly, and then disappearing in a shunshin. He didn't know who they were, but got a bad vibe from them. Just as he was about to go on his way, the ANBU called out to him.

"Long time no see Naruto." At the mention of his name, Naruto disappeared and reappeared in front of the ANBU.

"Yes it has been, Kakashi Ni-san. I didn't think you would still be in ANBU?" Naruto asked his older brother figure. The silver headed ANBU smiled beneath his mask at the name. He didn't think that Naruto would still remember him, considering he was young when he departed on his long-term mission.

"You look like you've gotten stronger over the years Naru-Chan." Remarked a chuckling Kakashi as Naruto scrunched up his face slightly.

"Don't call me that Ero Ni-san, I'm not a child anymore." Here Kakashi laughed and embraced Naruto. Although they were both fully trained Ninja's they still showed a human side to their being.

"I was actually sent by Hokage-Sama to look for you. Heard you were back and didn't have a place to stay." Here they broke apart and unconsciously started walking the road towards Ichiraku Ramen. Old habits do die hard.

"Yeah I am. Just had a run in with my Imoutou, unfortunately that didn't turn out too well." Naruto spoke, lowering his head slightly.

"Yeah I heard." Kakashi spoke. "I need to speak to you about that in a… more private setting." Here Naruto could hear the slight hesitance in Kakashi's voice. Both felt the presence of Shinobi around them and decided to change the subject.

"So how have you been Kakashi-Ni, found the wife you've been waiting for?" laughed a smiling Naruto, only for Kakashi to deflate and exhale.

"Nothing of the sort, just been completing my training as per usual. And call me Inu when I'm dressed like this. Wouldn't want to be reprimanded by Hokage-Sama again." Kakashi stated.

They both continued walking along, reminiscing about their past and telling stories of their journey over the past fourteen years. It was a lot of catch up that needed to be done.

Kira, Sasuke and Sai emerged from their shunshin in a dark room. The three Shinobi kneeled at the foot of a semi-crippled old man who was covered in bandages.

"Sensei." Each spoke at the same time. Much to the pleasure of the old man.

"Did you gauge the talents of the competition?" their Sensei asked whilst observing his students through his one active eye.

"Hai." Was their short and curt reply.

"Good, we have been given a mission to accomplish during the Chunnin Exams." Here the three students looked up at their Sensei. "Kira, Sai, Sasuke… The mission I am going to give you is very important and the success or failure of this mission will determine the fate of Konoha." Here the three students nodded their head, showing their Sensei that they understood.

"The first mission is to ensure the survival of all if not, the majority of Shinobi from Konoha. There will be casualties, but your mission is to limit it." Each student nodded their head. "The Konoha Clan Heirs are not to be killed or maimed during the Chuunin exams." Here their Sensei drank some of his tea that was placed on the table to his left.

"Your second mission is to eliminate the Jinchuuriki from Suna during the second or third phase of the Chuunin exams" Here the students looked up slightly wondering why such a drastic measure needed to be taken. They didn't voice their opinion however, as doing so would incur the wrath of their Sensei.

Their Sensei took another sip of his tea before continuing. "Your third mission is to track down a Gennin cell from Sound and eliminate them. This should be done during the second part of the Chuunin exams." The three students nodded and waited patiently for their next orders.

"From now until the Chuunin Exams start, you will train and monitor each of your subjects discreetly. Do not fail your mission… You're dismissed"

"Hai Danzo-Sama." The three man team chimed before disappearing the same way they returned.

Danzo rose from his seat and walked down the corridor and into a room with a table that held three people.

"Are you sure this is a good idea Hokage-Sama?" asked one of the Advisors.

"Danzo did receive word from Orochimaru regarding the Suna/Sound alliance. So I believe this is necessary for the survival of Konoha." Spoke the aged Hokage with a slight melancholic tone in his voice.

"Yes that is the case." Danzo spoke, whilst taking a seat in the remaining chair.

No-one knew of this secret alliance between the students of the second Hokage. Everyone believed that Danzo and Sarutobi disliked each other, or even hated each other. They never knew that it was a façade used to keep order within Konoha. Not even the elusive Orochimaru, or the great Spy-master Jiraiya knew of this deadly alliance.

"What of the boy? Will he be of any import?" asked Danzo. His lone eye lingering between each of the advisors and the Hokage.

"I don't think he will be a problem." Spoke one of the advisors. His glasses slipping from his eye slightly before he rearranged it to fit perfectly on his face.

"He is interesting." The Hokage chimed in. "He is very strong, and Jiraiya seems to think he is stronger than the sage himself." He continued. "It will be interesting to keep monitoring his progress and see what we can learn. I don't think that we have to worry about him whisking his sister away. She did not take too lightly to his presence when I first introduced them." The Hokage chuckled, recalling the first meeting between the two siblings.

Danzo exhaled softly whilst looking at the Hokage. "This is a simple matter to take care of Hiruzen. Why do you feel the need to protect the boy?"

The Hokage scoffed and chuckled at the same time whilst rising to his feet. "I should get back to my desk. It doesn't bode well for a Shadow clone to complete all the Hokage's work." Turning to look at Danzo, the Hokage spoke once more. "If it can be achieved I'd suggest it myself. However, Naruto is a strong opponent. If you are able to, get it done. But if it fails, ensure that it does not lead back to you or to us." The Hokage stated before disappearing.

The two advisors followed the Hokage's lead and disappeared to accomplish their tasks. Danzo sat in his chair, thoughts stewing and outweighing the benefits of taking 'care' of Naruto.
