Trying to get this out quicker, let me know what you think?
How do you find the chapters? Are they too long, too short or just right?
This is an Older Naruto fic. It is not a crossover, but some aspects of Mortal Kombat and Daredevil are involved. The prologue should give you an idea as to why

Chapter 4
Naruto re-seated himself across from his 'teammates'. "The both of you were asked by the Hokage to join this exam?" Naruto asked, speaking softly, but ensuring that the wind carried his words to their ears alone.
Both nodded at his question without thinking. "Y-yes." Sakura spoke after a moment's silence. Naruto 'looked' at each then got up and walked away. He walked over to the tree line. Both Genin looked at each other before getting up and following.
"It seems that I am your third teammate, which means we must train to get used to each other. Tell me what skills you have?" Naruto asked. He hated the predicament he was in, but he would try not to let it get to him. He now knew that the Hokage was keeping a close eye on him. He just wished that he knew of a way to keep that from happening. Maybe allies would be helpful.
There was silence as both Genin stood facing Naruto. "We don't have all day". He said, feeling slightly bored and irritated.
Sakura spoke first. "Well I am training as a med nin, so I have good control over my chakra. I know how to mend bones and injuries. I know the body inside and out and I have some understanding of Genjutsu, which I use to compliment my skills. I would also be seen as a backup fighter." After the explanation Sakura looked down and spoke in a real quiet voice, "I also have small chakra reserves." Naruto nodded and looked in the direction of Shiho.
"I have good control over my chakra, and I can get myself out of a pickle easily." Shiho stated. "I may need training in Taijutsu and Genjutsu. I can use some Ninjutsu, but I need some practice. I am a Cryptologist, which does not require that I learn any offensive jutsu."
Naruto sighed after the introduction of both Kunoichi. This is going to be a long Chunin exams. Was the thought running through Naruto's mind.
"Okay" Naruto spoke again, "time to train".
Naruto woke early the day of the Chunin exams. He went through his normal morning exercises and made his way to the building that played host to the Chunin exam. The week went by in a flash, but training the Kunoichi had been Naruto's main concern. He did not think that either was ready for the exam, but went along with it.
Kakashi had allowed Naruto to sleep on his couch, so he was content with doing so until after the exams. He still had not patched things up with his sister though. He tried to find her on many occasions, but she was very good at masking her presence. Truth be told, Naruto was slightly afraid of facing her, so he pretended that he was using his full skillset to find her.
Naruto arrived at the building to find his two teammates waiting for him. Both seemed okay, but there was an undertone of fear mixed in with excitement. Naruto smiled at his teammates as he walked to them. "Good morning."
"Good morning." They replied at the same time.
"So… lets' get this over with" Naruto spoke once more, trying to ease the rising tension that his teammates had. "This should be interesting." He spoke again, more to himself than to his teammates.
Naruto entered the building with both Kunoichi walking next to him. They all walked up to the second floor, and made their way down the hall. They saw that there were quite a few Shinobi standing around the door with the number 3a on it.
Naruto felt it as soon as he arrived on the second floor. He also took note that his teammates understood it to be a Genjutsu as well. The two ninja guarding the door looked over at him after knocking a kid to the floor. Both saw Naruto and felt slightly irritated. They recognised him from the front entrance, and were going to pull him up, until they saw the headband had the Leaf insignia.
Both turned back to the young Genin who was trying to get by. "If you can't get past us, then there is no way that you can succeed in this exam." One of the pair stated, smirk evident on his face.
The young Genin was dressed in green jumpsuit with orange leggings. He looked over to where the Chunin were looking and found Sakura looking at him with a worried face. His heart started beating faster and he made his way over to the pink haired beauty.
"Hi, I am Rock Lee. I will protect you with my life… Would you go on a date with me?" The young Genin asked. Naruto snickered whilst Sakura's face drained of its colour. Shiho had the decency to cover her mouth before she too laughed at Sakura's predicament.
"No." was Sakura's straight answer as she walked past Lee and towards the crowd. She reached the crowd and walked straight past. All eyes were on Sakura as she walked past the group whilst dispelling the Genjutsu. Shiho quickly caught up to Sakura whilst Naruto looked in the direction of Lee. Smirking once more, he made his way past the group of Genin and to the next room.
The other Genin looked back at the sign to see that it had changed from a 3 to a 2. Each team followed the three man squad up to the next room. The two 'Genin' smirked at each other, both knowing that this was going to be an interesting exam.
Kira was quietly observing her surroundings. She found this exam was of little interest, and only wanted to test her strength against stronger opponents. Sasuke was trying his hardest not to be annoyed. As soon as he walked into the room, some of his 'fangirls' started causing a scene. Ino, in particular, was all over him… acting as if they were familiar. It drew too much attention, and he felt all eyes were on him. Sai was busy drawing in his book. He had the same creepy smile that he always wore.
The door opened and Kira instantly got irritated. The first person to walk through the doors was her 'older brother'. He was accompanied by two Kunoichi. One she remembered from the academy, the other she had not met. She knew that Sakura was a fangirl and as soon as she saw Sasuke, ran over and started talking to him. This drew further attention to Sasuke and caused the other Genin from her academy days to approach and interact.
"What are you doing here billboard brow." Ino asked in a slightly irritated tone.
"The same as you, Ino-Pig." Sakura replied, glaring at her rival with passion burning in her eyes.
"Hmph, you have to be a part of a team to compete at the Chunin exams." Ino replied, ignoring the fact that Sakura was not alone.
"Are you blind or just stupid?" Sakura asked, before thinking. After the words left her mouth, her face went white and she looked abashed to have spoken the way she had. She looked at Naruto, who was making his way over to her.
Naruto was not surprised when he felt his sisters' animosity directed at him. He knew that she would continue to dislike him until he could somehow prove himself to her. It was a pain too, considering he can't prove himself if he's not given a chance to do so. When he heard Sakura's words, he sobered. He was over his issue with the way he was, but some would still think it a touchy subject.
"Sorry Naruto, it just slipped out." Sakura spoke. Looking at Naruto's feet. This reaction confused Ino, until she looked at Naruto closely. She noticed that he had his eyes covered with a Hitai-ate.
"It's fine." Naruto said, looking at Sakura. She was still scared by what she said, but the fact that he looked directly at her made it even worse. "Hi, I am Sakura's teammate." Naruto said, looking in the direction of the other Konoha Genin. He purposely left out his name.
Each got a good glimpse of him. Kiba laughed, not thinking before he did so. "Are you actually blind?" he asked. "You could've fooled me, the way you know where we all are." Naruto smirked at this. Inuzuka Kiba. So you are brash and blurt everything that comes to mind, just as your profile said. Reminds me of my younger self. Naruto thought.
He smiled at Kiba. "It is intriguing isn't it?" he responded. Trying to lighten the mood. "Introductions are in order I suppose?" Naruto spoke again. This time it was another Genin that spoke up.
"Aburame Shino. This is Hyuuga Hinata and Inuzuka Kiba." The Genin with the high collared jacket replied. Naruto smiled, before responding.
"Naruto. This is Shiho and as you may already know, Sakura." Naruto replied before hearing a grown of 'Troublesome' from his right.
The young Shikamaru. The genius clan of the Nara's. Naruto looked in the direction of the Genin with the spiked ponytail.
"Nara Shikamaru. This is Akimichi Choji and the loud one is Yamanaka Ino." Shikamaru explained, earning a whack to the back of his head from his female teammate. Naruto moved onto the last team waiting for their response.
"I am Sai, this is Sasuke and I believe you met your sister Kira." Sai spoke, getting gasps from each of the Genin teams. He still had the creepy smile on his face.
"Wait, your Kira's brother?" Ino blurted out in a loud voice. Sakura and Shiho were confused as they witnessed the revelation. They each looked at each other then looked at Kira.
Kira did not like the attention and she was starting to get annoyed. Before she could speak, a tall, silver haired Genin approached. "You guys should keep it down, you're drawing attention to yourselves." At this, the Genin, barring Sai, Sasuke, Kira and Naruto, looked at the Genin approaching, then, following his gaze, looked around the room. The Genin felt the Killing Intent facing their direction. They started feeling a little overwhelmed.
Kiba was about to break the tension by talking, when everyone felt a strong feeling of power overcome them. The Killing Intent was there for a split second before it disappeared. Only few people recognised Naruto as the culprit.
"What was that?" Asked Kiba. He had felt Killing Intent before, but nothing as powerful as that.
"I'm Yakushi Kabuto." The silver haired Genin replied, deliberately not answering Kiba's question. He was just as stunned as Kiba. The only other person he felt that level of Killing Intent from was his master.
"You competing in the exam as well." Sakura stated more than asked.
"Yes… Yes I am. How about I give you some pointers on how to survive this exam." Here he pulled out a deck of cards.
"How many times have you participated in the exam?" Sakura continued, taking note of the cards that Kabuto pulled from his back pocket.
Kabuto scratched his head, feeling ashamed as he answered. "Seven actually." Kiba laughed at that. Sai continued smiling whilst Sasuke looked unfazed. Kira was staring straight at her brother ignoring what everyone else did.
Naruto was quietly observing Kabuto. He knew something was off the moment Kabuto approached.
"You're just a loser who's failed the exam seven times." Kiba exclaimed, laughing boisterously all the while. Kabuto looked sheepish, until Sakura asked him.
"What do the cards do?" She asked. Causing the other Genin to pay more attention. Most of the Genin were still looking between Naruto and Kira and noting the similarities and differences between the pair. Each could see that they actually have the same face, there hair is the same colour and that they both had the whisker marks. Naruto's were very light, but still noticeable.
"These cards are attuned to my chakra and when I push some into them, they have information on the exam." Here Kabuto placed some chakra in some and each Genin saw the stats come up. "This shows how many teams are participating in the exams, and where they are from." Naruto saw the use in such a tool. Especially if one was a spy.
"I also have individual cards, which shows the details of each Shinobi." Naruto knew from that moment that there was a high chance that Kabuto was a spy. He felt it. "If you have details of what they look like, then I could get them."
"Uzumaki Naruto." Came a soft, quiet voice. Everyone looked in the direction of Sasuke, watching him waiting patiently for Kabuto.
"Uzumaki Naruto, yes here it is." Naruto wanted to know what was on the card so he let it play out. "Here we are… No information on Naruto except that he was on a mission for 14 years." At this revelation, everyone looked at Naruto. He knew he was the centre of attention, so he slowly scratched the back of his head. Everyone was fearful for a second, as they thought he was reaching for his sword.
"Well, it was a difficult mission." He grinned, trying to get the attention off of him. I know that that is not everything on the card Naruto. Kabuto thought before dispelling the card.
"Yakushi Kabuto." Naruto replied, causing said nin to smirk.
"Wouldn't be wise to give that information away." His smirk faltered when he noticed that Naruto wasn't paying him any attention.
"I have some cards on each village as well. Like this one. This is the Sound village. They are relatively new, so there isn't much that I have on them." As he finished speaking, Kabuto put his cards back into his own pocket. He was quite interested to know why the Genin didn't ask him about more participants.
"So how long did you know you were brother and sister?" Asked Ino… Always one for gossip. Naruto thought.
"Well it's a long story and…" Naruto spoke before stopping. He felt the change in the air before it happened. The three Sound nin attacked Kabuto and left him spewing on the floor. Naruto felt everything play out in slow motion. He knew who was going to attack, when they were going to attack and how they were going to attack. Its' as if a movie was playing out in his mind's eye.
"Remember that we from Sound are more elite than you fools from the larger villages. We have quality over quantity." The man dressed as a mummy spoke. Naruto heard the sounds that were being omitted from the contraption on his arm. He was about to speak up when there was a loud noise and smoke appeared at the front of the room.
"Alright knock it off…" Spoke the huge Jounin at the front of the room. "Fighting before the Chunin exams has started is against the rules." He said once more.
"Sorry, just got a little carried away." The mummy nin from Sound said, not sounding at all apologetic.
"Hmph… Everyone has to get a number from this hat before you enter the room. Sit in your designated chair. If by some chance are sitting next to your teammate, raise your hand so that you can be assigned another seat."
Naruto took one last look at his sister, only to find that she had disappeared. He took a deep breath and exhaled. "Alright… Ready." He asked Sakura and Shiho.
"Hai." They exclaimed at the same time.
