Narcissa was tending her favorite roses in the garden when Tippy found her and gave her the note from her sister.

She moved to a bench, sinking down to it slowly and began to read. She smiled through tears and held the parchment to her chest. Andromeda may not be ready to forgive her but Narcissa felt more strongly than ever that it would happen. She'd just have to be patient, in the meantime she needed to make a run to Diagon Alley.

"Mamaw," Teddy called up the stairs, "Owl."

Andi replied, "I'll be right there. Don't mess with it, you don't want it to nip you."

She came down the stairs to find Teddy petting the owl who sat quietly on the edge of a seat at the table. When he saw her, Teddy pulled his hand back quickly and hid it behind his back, "It let me," he defended.

"All right we'll talk about that later. Let's see what this owl has brought us. Why don't you grab him a treat while I get this letter off."

Teddy ran to the cabinet and pulled out one of the few owl treats Andromeda kept on hand for the occasional delivery owls that came to the house.

Andromeda took the letter from the owls leg and ran her head over its head when it hooted lightly and pressed its head into her.

Andi,

Please accept this gift. I understand if you don't want anything from me, however you could use this owl to communicate with Draco, Harry, or anyone else you might need to contact. The shopkeeper assured me that this particular owl is incredibly fond of children. She is an elf owl, and though she looks to be young she is full-grown. The shopkeeper had given her no name, said he was unable to find one that suited her. Teddy, I imagine will be able to find just the one. I take heart that you are reading my journal and wish only that there was some way I knew what your life had been like over the past few decades, perhaps in the future you'd be willing to tell me about it.

Your sister,

Cissy

Andromeda sighed and looked at Teddy who was once again petting the owl. She really didn't want to accept the owl but he had to admit that it would make life easier and Teddy could use a pet, caring for the owl would be good practice in responsibility for the boy.

"Teddy, this is our new owl."

"Ours? We get to keep it?"

"Yes, it is a gift from my sister. The owl needs a name though. I think you should choose."

"Is it a boy or a girl owl?"

"A girl."

"Hmmm, what about Feathers?"

Andi chuckled softly but nodded. "Feathers it is."
