A,

France was beautiful. We stayed in the old family cottage on the coast. It made me miss you more than ever though. It was sad to think you've never had a chance to take your daughter there. Did you ever go back to France? Have you been able to travel? Are you living comfortably? I don't even know if you're working or what your husband does?

Lucius got into it with that Weasley man from the Ministry Muggle something office in Diagon Alley when we took Draco shopping. Fortunately, I wasn't there, but I did hear about it. Thoroughly embarrassing hearing about it from others. He also placed an order for a whole team's worth of brooms. Draco will be playing Quidditch this year if Lucius has anything to do with it. I worry, it's such a dangerous sport. I know we can heal so much but Draco is still so young. He's been flying every day he can. Severus came over and besides continuing to instruct him in potions, he's been putting Draco through flying drills. Specifically, he wants to be a Seeker. It has to be because the Potter boy is a Seeker, as Draco always wanted to be a Chaser before.

Another new DADA professor, Dumbledore must be getting desperate if he's hiring the likes of Gilderoy Lockhart. The man is a pompous, self-absorbed arse. He's not nearly so attractive as he thinks he is and I wonder if he's truly accomplished everything he says he has in his books. His books are nearly impossible to read, diatribes on his brilliance. How anyone agreed to publish them is beyond me.

Well, Lucius is in quite the mood. Draco and the Slytherin team lost their first Quidditch match to Gryffidor. I'm just happy that Draco emerged unscathed.

The Chamber of Secrets, I remember hearing the legend when we were at school but I never thought it was real. Children are being petrified. Draco shouldn't be at risk, but I still worry. Dumbledore isn't doing nearly enough. Lucius has been to the Minister and he's been to the Board of Governors. That horrible Hagrid is still there. This must be his fault. It simply has to be. The last time something happened like this it was his fault. Dumbledore should have never let him stay. He should have been kicked out to the Muggles. His wand was snapped and he was kicked out of school in his third or fourth year I think. What good could he possibly do in a magical school if he can't do magic? Then again that awful Filch is still there and everyone knows he's a Squib, another one that should have been sent to live with Muggles. If he can't do magic he doesn't belong there.

We just received a letter from Draco that has Lucius pacing the house. Apparently, Potter is a parseltoungue. Maybe, Lucius and the others were right when they thought the boy could be a powerful dark wizard. It seems to be too late now though with him under the care of Dumbledore and friends with the Weasleys and that Muggleborn girl. Draco has tried to befriend the boy but he refused. Still, he is only a half-blood even if the Potters are members of the Sacred Twenty Eight. Oh, I don't know. I just know I'm worried about Draco there at that school with this happening. I want him to come home but Lucius refuses. He says our son must stay and be a good example. Besides he's heading there with the Board of Governors soon to remove both Hagrid and Dumbledore and that should stop everything.

Thank goodness it's summer again and Draco is home. We are down a house-elf though and my husband won't tell me how it happened but Dobby is gone. He was always an odd elf but I will miss him.
