Entry 5 (DMC 4)

So Lady told me about this town called Fortuna that worshipped my dad, Sparda. I know Sparda was supposed to be pretty awesome, but he wasn't a god. Still, if they wanted to worship him, it wasn't really any of my business. At least that's what I thought, but apparently some of his worshippers were turning themselves into demons. In my experience, humans turning into demons never really ends well, so I figured that maybe I should check this Fortuna place out.

Trish was way ahead of me, though. She decided to spy on them from the inside. Unfortunately, she decided that the best way to do this was to earn their trust by giving them the Sparda. Couldn't she have given them a weaker Devil Arm!? Giving the bad guys one of the most powerful weapons in existence seems like a pretty bad idea.

Anyway, I went to Fortuna and crashed their church service by killing some old guy that was the leader of their little cult. In my defense, the old guy was definitely up to no good. Of course, most of the people in Fortuna didn't know anything about what the cult was doing behind the scenes, so they assumed I was just some crazy guy going on a murder spree.

My business in the church was mostly done, but before I could leave some white-haired kid attacked me. He was really strong, and definitely not fully human. He didn't really seem like he knew what was going on, so I didn't think he was one of the bad guys. I fought him for a bit, then I left.

I went to a big castle that belonged to the cult. I snooped around a bit and then I suddenly felt a surge of demonic power. The power reminded me of Vergil, but considering I was pretty sure Vergil was dead, that meant it had to be someone else. I had a pretty good idea of who it was.

Anyway, I moved on and ended up in a weird forest. I ran into that white-haired kid again. I had more important things to do than get into another fight with him, so I jumped off a cliff.

I went to the Order HQ and met up with Trish. She told me that the Order had obtained and repaired the Yamato. Not long after that, the white-haired kid showed up with the Yamato. I asked him to hand it over, but he refused, so we fought for it. I won, of course, but I decided to let him keep it. He seemed like a good kid, so I figured I could trust him to hold on to it for now.

Later, I ran into him again while he was fighting the old man I had tried to kill before. He got absorbed into a giant statue, so now it was up to me to save the day, as usual.

I went back through all the areas I had been to before. I killed some boss demons and shut down the hell gates they were coming through. I don't know how that Nero kid didn't manage to kill a single boss demon. I'm sure he was strong enough to kill them, but here I was, having to clean up after him. Why does it seem like I'm the only one who ever gets anything done? And I don't ever even get paid for it!

Anyway, I eventually caught up with the giant ugly statue and fought it for a while. It was surprisingly sturdy, but I did manage to wake Nero up, so I figured with him attacking it from the inside and me attacking from the outside we'd have no problem taking it down.

Sure enough, the statue stopped moving and Nero broke out of it. He had finished the old man off and saved his girlfriend. The statue tried to attack again, but Nero broke it for good. He tried to give me back the Yamato, but I let him keep it. If he was who I thought he was, then it was only right that he have the Yamato.

So with the bad guys defeated and the damsel saved, it was time for me to leave. Although I'm not really used to the damsels needing saving. All the women I know are more than capable of saving themselves. Maybe it would be better if they weren't so tough, then I wouldn't have to worry about them stealing all of my jobs.
