Saturday came and Pen was nervous. She hadn't seen the team in almost a year. She worried what their reaction would be and wondered how mad they would be at Spencer. He knew where she was at and didn't tell them. She knew they had to be wondering what was going on with him that he took six weeks off. When he issued the invitation she was there and heard them all asking questions. They wanted to know when he moved.

Pen had to admire the way Spence saved her. In her eyes that's what he did. The love she had for Derek was so deep, so strong that she couldn't believe how he treated her. After much contemplating she knew he never loved her the way she did. It was all a fantasy in her head, one that she wanted to come true so desperately that she saw only what she wanted to see. She had been so blind but no more. The day she felt her son move was the day that she made a vow to put those feelings aside and concentrate on the tiny baby growing in her. She knew by staying and telling Derek she was opening herself to a world of problems. Derek wasn't the type of man to just let her go with his son. He wasn't the type of man to let someone else raise his son. Spence was his friend and he was going to feel betrayed but what about her. What about her feelings, her wants, her needs. But it wasn't about her, it was about the baby laying in the bassinet a few feet away. His grunts drew her attention so she walked to him.

"Are you hungry, my prince?" she cooed. "You slept through your feeding and you look so cute asleep I didn't want to wake you."

She sat in the rocker that Spence bought her and got ready to feed him. He latched on quickly and she played with the tiny curls on his head. She loved his skin color, which was a combination of both her and Derek. Every time she looked at him, she was stunned at how much he looked like Derek, her very own mini hot stuff.

"You are going to meet some of mommy's friends today. They are going to love you just as much as your aunties do. Your daddy should be here soon. He's going to want to spend all his time with you." she heard the doorbell ring. "That might be him know."

She rocked slowly as D ate. When he was done, she put him on her shoulder and burped him and he fell right back to sleep. Pen laid him down as Spence walked in.

"He's asleep."

"Yeah." She whispered. "Who was at the door?"

"Derek."

"Is everything ready for the BBQ?"

"Just waiting on everybody to get here."

"What if they get mad at me for leaving the way I did?"

"Penelope, we talked about this. You did what you had to do, what you thought was best for you and your son. If they can't accept that then that is their problem. You only answer to yourself."

"What if they get mad at you for keeping my secret?"

"I'll handled that. They are your friends, they are your family. Remember that."

"I'm going to stay in here until they arrive. Tell Derek that D is asleep."

Spence nodded and went to the kitchen where he left Derek, crossing his fingers that everything went ok.

Derek paced the kitchen waiting for Spence or Pen to come out. He wanted to see his son but he also wanted to see Pen. She knew she was disappointed in him and she had every right to be. He wanted to talk to her alone but she was never alone. Spencer was always with her. He was beginning to think she was afraid of him. He heard the footsteps before he saw his friend.

"D is sleeping and Pen is taking a nap. D was up most of the night."

"What was wrong with him?"

"He couldn't seem to settle down." He said. "Want a beer?"

"Sure." Derek said. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Ask."

"If you didn't have feelings for Pen would you have told me where she was?"

"No. My feeling for Pen didn't factor in, in the beginning. All I saw was Pen in pain, hurting, and scared. She didn't know what to do. I wanted to help her. She didn't know about my feelings for her until her seventh month. She wanted to know why I was helping her. I simply told her that I knew what it felt like to love someone and not have them love you back. She asked me who it was and I told her it was her. We stayed up talking until late in the morning. I knew she would probably never love me but I was willing to wait and see what happens. I asked her to marry me right before she gave birth. She wanted to wait until her son was a couple of months old. You two have things to talk about your relationship and she isn't ready to hear anything to hurt her again. She was broken for so long, that she had put up walls around her heart. All I ask is that you never hurt her again. Not the way you did that morning."

They sat in silence both in deep thoughts.

"Can I ask you question Derek?" he nodded. "What do you want?"

"I want my son with me all the time. I want his mother with me too."

"In what capacity do you want Pen? Do you love her? Have you finally realized the feelings you have for her?"

"I want us to be a family. Do I love her? I do but do I love her the way I should? I'm not sure yet. I have feelings for her but I'm struggling to accept them."

"Why? Why would they be hard to accept? Either you love her or you don't. It's not that hard."

The ringing of the doorbell rand before Derek could answer. Spence left him alone and went to answer. He opened the door and Hotch was the first one to arrive.

"Hey Hotch, come on in."

"Wow Reid, when did you move here?"

"A couple of months ago." The doorbell rang again. "Morgan is in the kitchen, grab a beer while I answer the door. "JJ, Emily come in."

"Spence, I can't believe you moved here and didn't tell us." JJ said.

"This is some fancy neighborhood you live in." Emily said.

"It's not that fancy." He said. "Come in. Everyone is in the kitchen."

Emily and JJ went in the kitchen and the doorbell rang again. Spence went to answer it knowing that Rossi was on the other side.

"Hey kid. Nice digs."

Spence blushed. "Thanks. Everyone's in the kitchen."

The sound of chatter engulfed them as they entered the kitchen. He watched as Rossi greeted everyone and retrieved a drink. He took a quick look down the hall. He wish he could spare Penelope the emotions that were going to be revealed. The girls are going to be mad and hurt that she didn't go to them and tell them what was happening. He took a breath. It was now or never.

"Hey everyone let's go into the living room."

Everyone followed and took seats around the spacious room, only Spence remained standing.

"What's going on Spence? You looked nervous." Emily said.

With a glance at Derek, he cleared his throat. "I asked you all here because someone wanted to speak to all of you."

"Who?" JJ asked.

"Me."

All of her friends stood up in shock, except Derek. He just looked at everyone faces. Spence had left and he knew where he went. After all the hugs were over, the questions started.

"Where have you been?" JJ asked.

"Why did you disappear like that, without a goodbye?"

"Have you been with Spence all this time?"

"There was a reason I left like I did. It probably was the way it should have happened but it was the only way for me at the time." she visibly gulped. "I had a baby."

"What?" Both Emily and JJ shrieked at the same time.

At that moment Spence came into the room with the baby, who was wide awake. Spence handed him to Penelope and she turned to everyone in the room.

"He's the reason I had to leave." She whispered.

JJ looked at the baby and turned to Derek, eyes blazing. "What have you done?"

"JJ please." Penelope whispered.

"Did you know?" she asked Derek and he nodded. "You knew this was the reason she left. How could you do this?"

"JJ." Penelope whispered. "Let me explain."

JJ looked at Derek and sat down. Everyone did as well. Penelope took a deep breath and started talking.

"Derek came over one night and one thing led to another. The next morning, I stupidly thought things had changed, apparently I was mistaken." She wiped the tears from her face. "I was wrong on so many levels. I found out I was pregnant from that night. I felt I had no other choice but to go, run. Spence found me on the night I decided to go and convinced me to stay. He moved me to Washington and I stayed there until Derek got married. I moved in with him and have been here ever since. Only Derek knew I was pregnant besides Spence but no one else. I called Derek when I went into labor and here we are."

"Why didn't you come to me for help? Or any of us?" Hotch asked. "Any of us would have helped you."

"I know but I was so ashamed of everything."

"Why would you feel that?" Rossi said. "It takes two people to make a baby."

"You knew how she felt about you and you slept with her and then married someone else when you knew she was pregnant with your baby. How could you do this to her? I thought she was your baby girl, your goddess, your mamma and this is what you do?" JJ asked.

"I didn't know she was pregnant until she was already gone. I couldn't find her and believe me I tried. I've been there for my son since the day he was born."

"You knew all along what was happening and you didn't tell us anything." Emily asked. "I thought we were a family."

"I asked him not to tell anyone. I didn't want anyone to know."

"I knew you were pregnant, Derek showed me the letter you sent him." Hotch said. "I asked him to fix it."

"There was nothing that could have been fixed. The damage had already been done."

Pen had avoided Derek's gaze the entire time but she looked at him now. For the first time he really saw what Spence was talking about. The pain, the betrayal, the glow that surrounded her was gone. She was a shell of the person she was. He had done that to her. He had robbed her of the personality that was Penelope Garcia. He had no way of knowing how he could fix what he had done. She was right the damage had been done.

"I'm sorry Pen but I can't accept this. I'm hurt you thought that you couldn't come to me. Thought we were best friends." JJ said. "I need to go."

"I understand and I'm sorry."

"I think we all should go." Rossi said as he walked to Penelope. "I think you did what you think you had to and I understand that. I'm just glad you're back. He is a handsome little fellow. What's his name?"

"Derek Anthony Morgan."

"Good strong name." Rossi said. "Congratulations to you both."

"Pen, JJ will come around but I understand. I'm not going to say it doesn't hurt but I understand. He is a really cute baby. Call me so we can set up a day to talk."

"I will and thanks."

"Give me a call, I want to talk to you, when you have time." Hotch said.

Everyone left and just Spence, Penelope, and Derek remained. D squirmed and grunted. Spence went to the kitchen and warmed up a bottle, came back and handed it to Derek. Pen placed the baby in Derek arms and walked to her room. Spence followed and then returned to the living room.

"You know where everything is. I'm taking Pen out for a little while. Call if you need us."

As he fed his son he watched Pen and Reid walk out and the shut the door. He looked down at D and smiled.

"I'm going to get your mom to forgive me if it's the last thing I do."
