Hey! I know I'm a massive diaper shitter for not updating in 6 months. I'm not going to let this die though. It's my baby. Speaking of, it is almost 3 and half years old. I'm really loving where it is going. It's surprising how quickly it all comes back to me. At the risk of spoilers, I'm going to tell you that the end of phase two of this story is coming (phase one being the slave camp). I may end up writing the end of Phase two of the story tonight. This is my sort of "It isn't dead" chapter. I'm sorry if it feels like this is getting repetitive but I felt some things needed to be said by certain characters and some that couldn't be said in that war meeting. Also I've reached almost one third of the word count of the first Harry Potter book. Woot! Anywho... Enjoy!

...

Dave entered the room where they had left Karkat. John was trying to feed him applesauce.

"I can fucking feed myself now shitlord." Karkat said with a hint of a smile on his lips as he made no move to grab the spoon. Something told Dave that Karkat enjoyed the attention.

"Sorry to interupt you two love birds but I have news." Dave let the door click shut and took a little pride in his sneakiness when John started at his voice.

"I didn't hear you enter." John stammered, moving away as if he wasn't just feeding Karkat. Karkat scowled at Dave.

"Sorry to stop momma birdie from feeding it's young but we have to talk. Plans are being made and I need to know how you're feeling first." He directed his gave at Karkat. He looked at him over the sunglasses, his eyes conveying a sense of shit getting real.

"I can move a little more now." Karkat dropped the curse ready on his lips, picking up on the seriousness. "May be sore for a couple of days. I don't think anything broke. Those fuckass weaklings could only manage to give me a concussion apparently. Head's still a little fuzzy. What's up?"

"The resistance has a plan to launch an attack on the nearby Troll command base. This plan involves a sneak attack where a small crew flies in and attacks. They've recovered a troll scout ship and are hoping to use this for the sneak attack..."

"And they can't turn it on? Not surprised." Karkat sighed. "They want me to fly it."

"Well, more like you're the only option." Dave held his hand up to stop the coming protests from John.

"I already made it perfectly clear that Karkat is not getting on that ship without at least one of there. The plan so far is that Karkat, Jade, you, and myself will be on the ship along with a team put together by Jake."

John sat back in thought. Jake was his cousin and he trusted his judgment on picking a team. "When do they plan on this attack?" he asked.

"As soon as possible. The plan basically is the Trojan Horse idea." Dave decided to explain more at the look of confusion from Karkat. "Human history. Essentially they think its a returning scout ship, let us in, we have the element of surprise."

"That element of surprise will only last so long..." John said skeptically.

"That's because..."

"It's a suicide mission." Karkat finished. John looked taken aback. "If we survive long enough for reinforcements to arrive its a bonus. We're meant to cause enough chaos that the enemy doesn't see the backup coming."

"Then why do they need all of us to go? Wouldn't it be better for us to be fighting with the back ups?"

"No John..." Karkat shook his head. "The crew that goes in needs to be excellent fighters. We need to be able to hold out long enough for the reinforcements to be close enough to maintain the element of surprise."

"It may be classified as a suicide mission, but with the four of us plus Jake's team I think we can make it to the reinforcements arrival. Once they arrive, the traffic fighting us will lighten a lot." Dave looked between them. "but it has to be a voluntary mission."

"I'm in." Karkat affirmed as soon as Dave had finished.

"Me too. If its going to help win this battle, I'll do it." John added. Dave nodded at both of them.

"I have to ask Jade now." He said before turning to leave the room. He looked over his shoulder before leaving. "Get him back to health John, and Karkat, we owe you our lives. You don't owe us anything. Thanks for staying." he left, feeling awkward, but he needed to say that. He turned to walk towards his room to get Jade when he saw her sitting on the floor next to the door.

"You think this will work?" she whispered.

"It has to." he sighed, sliding down next to her.

"Will we be able to kill those sons of bitches?"

"I'm sure as hell not going out without taking a few hundred out with me."

"I'm in." She turned towards him, her face hard with determination. It took everything Dave had not to burst into a smile. He hugged her instead and counted his lucky stars to have her.
