Fight for Love!
26th Fight: Books on Seduction
"How to Seduce a Man," I softly read out the title of a thick paperback book which I was holding. "For Dummies."
Yes, for dummies like me who knew nothing about seduction techniques and didn't understand what the point was for doing so. As if a guy would be so stupid to fall for these 'touch and caress your thigh', 'say some sensual stuffs' and 'kiss abruptly for no reason' techniques!
As I browsed through the book, I saw multiple pictures that were so embarrassing to me. There were pictures like wrapping the hands around the man's neck, having the couple's bodies pressing against each other, sitting on the man's lap, straddling the man's waist with the legs, women dressing so smartly yet so kinky at the same time, and many others which also caused my face to flush. Shouldn't this kind of book be rated eighteen or twenty-one?
I closed the book and scanned the cover. At the bottom right of the back cover, there was a colourful icon with 'R16' printed below it. Oh well, that meant I was safe to buy this book!
I happily took out my purse and was about to head towards the counter when a familiar voice called out my name. I froze and quickly hid the book behind my back. Turning my body around, I saw Yoichi standing behind me with two books in his hand. My goodness! What was he doing here? Such a bad timing to be caught holding this 'forbidden' book!
"Yoi... Yoichi-kun, h... hel... hello!"
After hearing myself stammer, I almost wanted to hit my face against the nearby wall. I looked like some idiot who was caught red-handed for doing something wrong or holding a pornographic magazine. Okay, to me, this book I was holding was no different from a pornographic magazine.
"Hi Mikan, are you buying some books as well?" Yoichi spoke with a warm smile.
I forced a smile in return and stuttered, "Ah... ya... yeah... haha... some... some books..."
Yoichi arched an eyebrow and his eyes slowly trailed to the shelf where I had taken the book from. The bridge of his nose immediately wrinkled upon seeing something on the shelf. Biting my lower lip, I followed his gaze and my eyes rested on a white piece of paper pasted on the side of the shelf with black printed words 'Love and Dating Advice' on it.
Oh...
"Love and dating advice?" Yoichi read the words out softly.
Oh no...
"Mikan..."
"Ah! I must have gone to the wrong shelf! Ahahaha!" I let out an awkward laugh and walked sideways without leaving my eyes off my confused friend, trying to get away with the book behind me. "Wha... What about you, Yoichi-kun?"
Yoichi showed me the front covers of the two books and replied, "I'm getting new books on fortune telling."
"That's good... ouch!" I cried out in pain as I accidentally bumped onto something hard.
The 'forbidden' book fell out of my hands but instead of picking it up to hide it again, I did the most stupid thing ever.
"Look where you're going..." I looked up and caught myself staring into a pair of crimson eyes. "Na..."
My jaw dropped in realisation.
I just bumped onto Natsume Hyuuga! Why was he here too? I inwardly screamed in alarm.
Face growing warmer at each passing second, I quickly took a few steps away from him and dusted my skirt even though there was nothing for me to dust off.
Oh dear... why out of all times did I have to meet him here as well? As if Yoichi's presence wasn't enough!
"How to seduce a man..." I heard Yoichi's murmuring voice on my right.
Next was Natsume's low and soft voice on my left, "For dummies... hmm..."
Double... no, triple 'oh no's!
Without warning, I shrieked in total embarrassment and I swore that my face had gone extremely red that one could probably not be able to tell the colour difference between it and that of Natsume's eyes. I picked up the offending book and straightened my back again, mentally telling myself to face them confidently.
"Yo!" I waved to Natsume. "How do you do?"
There was a brief awkward silence. Natsume stared at me with no hint of emotion on his face and my hand immediately withdrew itself to my back.
Yoichi headed towards me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Mikan, we need to talk."
"Eh? But... ah... I need to go now..."
Yoichi pulled me closer to him and whispered hoarsely into my ear, "Why are you buying this book?"
"The title gives it all..." I blurted and almost regretted.
"Who?"
I turned my head and looked wide-eyed at him. "Who?"
"Yes, who's the person?" he said as his eyes narrowed at me.
"He is... why do you want to know?" I spoke softly as well, hoping that Natsume wouldn't hear a thing we were talking about.
Tightening his grip on my shoulder, Yoichi frowned and raised his voice a little, "That's because...!"
I knitted my eyebrows together and prompted him to carry on, "Because?"
"Because!"
"Huh?"
"That's because I..."
"If the two of you want to flirt with each other, do it outside," Natsume's dull voice cut into our conversation. "Out of my sight."
I glared at the raven-haired boy and tried to hold my tongue. What was his problem? Did I look like I was flirting with Yoichi? What kind of warped perception he had there?!
He walked past me and went to the 'Love and Dating Advice' shelf. I saw his arm reaching out to an orange book with a bright gold title on the front cover.
'1001 Ways to Get the Girl You Like!' was the title of the orange book.
My eyebrows knitted together upon seeing the gold letters and I could feel my chest tighten. Something at the back of my head was hinting to me that I was disappointed.
No, I swore I wasn't disappointed. And no, I wasn't in denial either!
I rolled my eyes and said to Yoichi a little loudly, making sure that Natsume could hear me as well, "Well, even if I say the person's name, you probably won't even know who he is."
Yoichi arched an eyebrow but didn't say anything. All I knew was that his shoulders dropped slightly, showing hints of disappointment. I knew how he felt because I could empathise with him! I meant... I would be very upset if my friend didn't want to tell me anything because it would seem as if he or she had no trust in me. Yoichi was someone whom I trusted a lot but I just couldn't tell him that I was going to seduce Koko. Anyway, Natsume was probably listening too and he obviously knew who Koko was. Knowing Natsume's evil personality, he would probably laugh at me and say that I lacked chest to even seduce Koko or say that Koko would have better taste than to fall for my seduction.
I wrinkled my nose at the thought of him laughing at me. As if his taste in love was any better! Look at him, he was getting a book on how to get a girl he liked! That was funny. He had many girls wrap around his little finger but he actually couldn't get a girl whom he liked.
Ha! What a joke, Natsume Hyuuga! Not like I even cared what kind of girl she was though. She was definitely someone who was sensible and didn't fall in love with him that easily. Way to go, whoever you were!
I smirked to myself, earning a puzzled look from Yoichi, and I headed towards the counter with the 'forbidden' guide book. Since I was caught red-handed by two boys...
Well...
Just buy it, of course! It was my job as a representative of Special Club.
After I had paid for the book, Yoichi bought his two books too and followed me behind. We left the bookstore and I didn't even take a look back at Natsume at all. I wondered if he was also going to buy that orange book. If he did, what would he do?
Argh! I shook my head to wave this thought aside. Thinking about this made my stomach hurt. Mikan, you should not care about this devil!
"Erm... Mikan?"
"Hm?" I turned to face Yoichi who was walking alongside with me.
"Who's the guy... you like? Honestly," he asked me.
Looking away guiltily, I muttered, "I'm not going to say his name..."
"Why not? Do I know him?"
I felt sorry. No matter how much I would like to share some funny secrets with him, I had to protect Special Club's seduction plan. The reason for my guilt was because the boy whom I was going to seduce wasn't the one I had romantic feelings for. I was going to use Koko's feelings for my benefit and I felt bad about it. I wanted someone to stop me before I hurt Koko and betrayed his trust.
I looked at Yoichi sadly. Could he help me? Probably there were other solutions to get information out of Koko.
"You don't have to say his name. I'm not going to force you," Yoichi continued and a weak smile flashed across his face. "As long as the person is good to you, I will support the relationship."
"Thanks, Yoichi-kun. But..." I held his hands and smiled too. "You don't have to worry about me getting into a relationship."
His eyes widened a little at my statement. He looked uncertain and again, he didn't say anything to question me. Since Yoichi was my best friend, I didn't think that telling him a bit of my secret would be so bad. Anyway, I knew that Yoichi would keep quiet about it as well.
So, I began to explain to him, "The person whom I'm going to seduce isn't the person I like. You see, he has a certain information which I need to have so I was told to seduce him... Seduce him to get the information."
"What?" Yoichi gasped and shook his head in disapproval. "That... Why do you have to do that?"
I tightened my grip around his hands and replied softly, "For Special Club... I have to get that information."
"What kind of information is that?"
I placed my forefinger against my lips and smiled. "I can't say and I hope that you won't tell anybody about this."
Yoichi shook his hands free from my grasp and hung his head low, hiding his face from me.
"Don't..."
"Yoichi-kun..." I tried to reach out to him but he pulled his hand away from mine.
"You will be hurt... again."
"I won't," I assured him as my hand reached out for his elbow instead, causing him to flinch at my touch. "You've seen me fight with Hayate-senpai, right? I know how to protect myself now."
Yoichi bit his lower lip and shook his elbow free from my grasp again.
"Is it... be... because of... Natsume Hyuuga-sen... senpai?" he asked, stammering.
I wanted to laugh. What did that perverted, gayish, can't-get-his-girl senior get to do with my problem?
Yoichi continued in a soft voice, "Both of you... are getting the same kind of books... so... I... erm..."
This time, I laughed. Though I shouldn't be laughing, I just did upon hearing that. Natsume and I had different reasons for buying such books. I bought the seduction book was because for Special Club while he bought that orange book with gold letters was because... well, to state the obvious- to get a girl he liked.
Thinking about these reasons gave me an idea. A terrible idea, to be exact. I smiled to myself and then snickered. My dear friend next to me looked up and stared worriedly at me. His face was telling me that I had gone insane. Anyway, I was half expecting this type of response to be coming from him after I had laughed so hard and rudely at his statement.
"Why are you laughing?" Yoichi questioned with a glare on his face.
"Nothing, just some random thoughts running through my mind."
I lied. These thoughts weren't exactly random but were more like a scheme to get closer to the information...
"Whatever you're thinking right now, I get this feeling that you're going to do something bad. Really bad... so please stop it," Yoichi warned me sternly.
... starting from Natsume Hyuuga.

Brief preview of the next chapter:
27th Fight: Like a Ghost
I saw a glint of amusement flickered in his crimson eyes but when he opened his mouth, his grumpy sounding voice hinted otherwise.
"No."
I gasped dramatically. "Eh? But why? We should help each other!"
"No," came a harsher voice this time.
"I know you bought that get-your-girl book. So, we should practice those things inside that book and my book to get our girl and guy!"
"Straight no."
"Why not?" I pretended to whine. "Just treat it as a practice..."
"Because you're lesbian," he interjected. "I don't see why you need to seduce a guy."
Well, it was not like there was only one male in the world. My eyes lingered to the fair blonde and stared straight into his bright ocean-blue eyes. Ruka glanced at me and crooked an eyebrow upon noticing my intense gaze. Then, something clicked within me and a smile slowly formed on my face.
Maybe Ruka could help me instead...
Please don't forget to review this chapter and tell me how it is! Thanks! :D
