'A dog?! The cat turned me into a fucking DOG?!' Inuyasha growled at his situation. Alone, in pain, stuck in the well, and unable to speak. How was this supposed to help him understand his maiden? Inuyasha howled in his new dog form. He felt so weak, so frail. He felt so stupid. 'And this is why you never trust cat demons.' He sat down in the well, silently sulking, planning his attack on the cat demon who did this to him. During his sulk session, he heard the well doors open above him. He decided to bark his way out of this mess. He started to bark, louder and louder until he saw Sota! He wagged his little white tail as Sota climbed down the well.
"Hey there, boy. How in the world did you get down here? Are you hurt?" Sota picked up the small pup, examining him closely. "Well, you look alright...Hey mom!" Sota shouted as he climbed up the well ladder.
Inuyasha was just happy to be out of the well. Mama Higurashi came out the house, holding at small plate in her hand that she was drying. She gasped at the sight of the small pup in her son's arms. She came up to him, smiling.
"Sota, where did you find this adorable little pup?" She asked as she petted him gently.
"He was in the well. He was howling and barking. I don't think he hurt himself."
"Well, that's good. Let's get him inside. I'm sure he's hungry." Mama said as she lead Sota and the white pup into the house.
Inuyasha barely recognized the house. In this new form, everything was so much bigger than he was. He sniffed the kitchen, his stomach growled. The smell of homemade ramen was filling the air. Sota gently put Inuyasha down on the bamboo mats. Inuyasha was still getting accustomed to walking on all fours. He looked up at the large objects that surrounded him. He was slightly overwhelmed by the change of scenery. He wobbled around, feeling the straw like bamboo mats under his small paws. He walked around the kitchen slowly and sniffed the floor, trying to find a certain female's scent. His head shot up as he hear a familiar humming coming from upstairs. His tail wagged as he decided to try to run on all fours.
Inuyasha's excitement got the best of him and he fell on his face. He huffed and barked. In his mind, he was so frustrated. Being so small and helpless. 'How was this supposed to help me?' Inuyasha cursed himself. He regretted his choice to trust the cat demon. Sota picked him up again and smiled.
"Aw, how cute! He's still trying to get used to his paws!" Sota hugged him as he carried the small white pup to a corner.
Mama Higurashi smiled as she set down a small plate of boiled chicken. Inuyasha's stomach growled once more and he was eager to eat it all. Maybe that was the source of his inability to walk correctly. An empty stomach. Inuyasha dug his face into the plate and tore the chicken in small pieces. His small teeth was slightly annoying, not being able to eat like his normal self, but being able to eat as messily as you wanted. He had to admit, that was a nice perk. Kagome always nagging him about how sloppy he ate. Inuyasha could hear Sota getting a small bowl of water for him. Mama came to the edge of the kitchen, looking up the steps.
"Kagome! Honey, dinner's almost ready!" Mama called sweetly.
"Alright! Be down in a moment!" Kagome's voice called back.
Inuyasha's tail wagged as he heard her sweet voice. He'd never admit how much her voice excited him, in more ways than one. As he tore a small piece of chicken, he could hear and feel the thumping of Kagome coming down the steps. Kagome gasped as she walked into the kitchen and saw the small pup in the corner, eating hungrily.
"Mom, where'd this dog come from?" Kagome asked as she came closer to the pup.
"Sota found him in the well. Poor thing somehow he fell down the well. Good thing he's not hurt."
Kagome looked over the pup and petted him gently as he ate. Kagome smiled sweetly at the pup.
"Well, aren't you a cutie pie? You have pretty white fur." Kagome smiled as she petted him gently. "I wonder how you fell down the well."
"Mom, can we keep him?!" Sota asked as he set the table.
"I don't know, sweetie. What if he has an owner?" Mama replied.
"Owner?! I don't have a fucking owner! I'm my own demon, dammit!" Inuyasha started to growl as he heard the conversation go on.
"But, mom, he doesn't have a collar!" Sota added.
"Look, we'll put up posters about him, and if no one answers, we'll keep him. Deal?"
"Deal! I'll be a good owner, ain't that right, Scruffy?" Sota giggled.
"Scruffy?" Kagome asked.
"SCRUFFY?" Inuyasha's thoughts were off the charts. How could such a smart kid come up with such a stupid name?!
"His fur is kinda matted up, so I thought that would be a good name."
"Oh, he just needs a nice bath and they'll come right out." Kagome said.
"No way in HELL I'm getting a fucking bath." Inuyasha huffed as he continued to eat.
Shortly after dinner, Inuyasha found himself in the living room. He watched as Sota turned on the strange box and turned it to a cartoon show. Inuyasha found himself watching it as well. The bright colors and sounds were so new and different. He sat his small fluffy butt beside Sota and watched it.
"Puppy~! I have a treat for you~" Kagome sang as she whistled for the stunned puppy. Inuyasha didn't realize he was being called, until he felt himself being picked up by his maiden. He looked up at her and saw her beautiful face smiling and humming quietly. He couldn't stop his tail from wagging. He didn't mind it when Kagome held him so close to her like this. He could hear her heart beating from her chest. Kagome looked down at the pup and smiled.
"Are you ready for your surprise, puppy?" Kagome asked sweetly.
Inuyasha's tail was wagging faster now. He was ready, he gave an small, but happy bark at her. She smiled and started to put him down, then the smell hit his nose.
"Soap and water!? You said this was a surprise, Kagome!" Inuyasha growled in his mind as his body hit the warm water that was poolled up in the sink. Inuyasha tried to escape the watery prison four times before Kagome uttered the special word. Inuyasha wasn't sat, but he sat down and was a good boy for the rest of his 'treat'. Shortly after he was released from his watery trap, he was wrapped up in a fluffy blue towel and dried by Kagome's hands. Now this part he didn't mind. Kagome's hands all over his body.
"Now if only this were my body...THAT would be a real nice treat for the both of us." Inuyasha's mind drifted into his fantasy world. Kagome hummed softly and took him upstairs into her bedroom. His tail began to wag as her scent filled his nose and thoughts. Inuyasha knew this room like the back of his hand. Those nights where Kagome would study her strange spells until she fell asleep at her desk, he'd put her to bed or put her blanket over her gently. He was confused as she pulled a brush from one of her drawers. Kagome smiled as she spoke to herself.
"Good thing I have an extra one. Alright, it's time for brushing~" She began to unwrap Inuyasha and brush his slightly wet, matted fur. Inuyasha hated it at first, but shortly after all his knots where brushed out, he began to find it rather enjoyable. The brush against his skin, Kagome's soft hand following afterward, it was a lovely time.
"Alright, all clean~ Now, doesn't that feel a little better?" Kagome asked the small pup as she put him beside her.
He barked happily, and curled up beside her. Inuyasha could never get this close to her, not without upsetting her or embarrassing her in some way. Kagome smiled as she petted him gently.
"Man, I wish Inuyasha would let me brush his hair. His hair is so tangled. I bet he would like it if he'd just sit still long enough." Kagome sighed as she absentmindedly petted the pup's fur.
Inuyasha's ears perked up. She was talking about him...She was thinking about him...
"I wonder what he's doing right now...probably sulking that I'm gone." Kagome sighed
"Hey, I don't sulk all the time!" Inuyasha huffed in his mind. "I only sulk when I...when I miss you..." Inuyasha's ears flattened against his head as he thought about it more. Kagome looked down at the small dog that now looked sad. Kagome picked up him up and looked him in the eye. Kagome smiled and giggled.
"Inuyasha would be jealous if he found out I was hanging out with another dog." Kagome touched her head against his as she giggled.
"As long it's not a wolf, we're fine, stupid." Inuyasha huffed as he licked her nose gently.
Kagome pulled away and laughed. She put him on her chest as she laid down for bed. Inuyasha looked over Kagome's facial expression went from happy to peaceful as she drifted into sleep. He soon followed after her in slumber.
(Hey guys! Long time no see! I know it's been like 5 million years since I updated and I do apologize for that. Work's been working me ragged and I've been having major writer's block. But now the flood gates are open and you will be hearing from me a lot more often for the next couple of days. I love you all and I hope you like this newest chapter!)
