-Chapter 2-
The sky outside was clear with the summer breeze entering the room. A small porcelain cat was nowhere to be found inside the room only as a young boy laid there still resting. He turned his head to see no one around with only his window wide open. He opened his one eye slowly squinting at the given sunlight that enters the room. He saw that there were no other visitors that were bound to enter his room leaving the day to be rather normal. He sighed in content glad to know he had to make no other lies of why he was shouting randomly and crashes were heard in his room. Today was to be a normal summer holiday making him able to rest for a little longer only for the door to his room to be opened. He looked over and saw that it was Touko who was at the door. He was now wondering where the dumb cat was before he insisted to himself that he did not care.
"Takashi-kun… It's time to wake up so you can have something in your stomach. It's already past noon and you have not eaten breakfast. Are you feeling unwell?" She said concerned over his wellbeing while he sat up shaking his head.
"I am just a little tired." He replied gently and smiled at her while she nodded.
"I hope your stomach is not feeling unwell." She said opening the door even more slowly.
"My stomach feels fine, Touko-san." He said smiling while she nods to him kneeling on her knees.
"It seems Nyangoro-san is out and about. I hope he comes back so I can feed him." She said softly and he nods yawning to himself.
"Come down after you fix yourself. I have made some pudding snacks and have some tamago (1) ready for you." She gently stands up and walks out of the room.
He lay back on the bed hoping to sleep only not wanting to worry the young woman anymore by sleeping once more. He sat up from his bed before he fixed his bed mat while he sets it inside the closet. He saw that the sky was clear that day and he breathes the fresh air outside the room. He finally began to dress himself for the day and fixed his hair before he walked down the stairs towards the dining room.
'Seems like Nyanko-sensei is out on his own business today...'
"Takashi finally woke up to eat with us." Shigure said and smiled while he nervously laughed taking a seat.
"It is a summer holiday, maybe all the schooling he is doing worn him out." Touko said setting down the plate of food.
"I'm sorry for sleeping in." He apologized and the couple shook their head.
"Do not worry, a growing boy like you need some sleep." He nodded and takes a bite out of the food savoring the taste.
They all began to eat together smiling with one another. Shigure would begin to talk about his work and Touko would ask Takashi if he wanted more rice. They asked Takashi about his school and he replied that it was going fine. The conversation as a family lightened Takashi emotionally. All of a sudden the phone began to ring and Touko stood up to answer the phone. Takashi was back to eating the food and heard a small gasp of surprise from Touko wondering what was happening.
"Good to hear from you after so long. Yes, Takashi is doing well and how are you? That sounds wonderful. You would like to speak with Takashi? Alright, I will let him on." Touko held the receiver walking towards the entrance of the dining room.
"Takashi-kun, Sanoji-san would like to speak with you." She said gently and he nods standing up from his seat wiping his mouth walking to the phone.
Touko would hand him the receiver before she assumed eating once again. He wondered why his uncle would call him while his back leaned against the wall.
"Hello…?"
"Ah you seem to be doing well Takashi! Your voice sounds matured now." He remembered that voice and he nodded.
"Thank you." He said softly and he held the phone close to his ear.
The person over the phone was one of his father's brothers and he had lived with him for quite some time. This uncle was known to be called Sanoji and he was in charge of making sure that Takashi would attend to school. Sanoji was a happy go lucky type of man with a large family and he was making sure that Takashi would go through school as normally as possible.
"Is something wrong?" Takashi asks quietly and Sanoji shakes his head.
"Nothing is wrong, I was just wondering if you can ask Touko and Shigure to allow another person living there with you considering we have no room anymore here." He blinks confused wondering what he meant by that.
"Ah! Do not worry; I am not introducing a girlfriend to you or anything." He sighed in relief.
"So the person is a girl?" He asks and Sanoji nods.
"Yes, a very quiet girl reminds me much like you." He said and Takashi wondered who this girl was.
"Anyways, I hope you do not mind another head in your family." Takashi was wondering why he had to ask him this considering he is not the head of the household.
"I don't think we will mind." He replied and Sanoji sighed in relief.
"Good, good! You are on your summer break, no?" He nodded.
"I am on my summer break." He said and Sanoji would have a smile over the phone.
"Great! Come by tomorrow at any time! Now can you please give the phone back to Touko-san?" He said and Takashi would hand the phone back to Touko before he takes seat.
"I wonder what that was all about." Shigure said taking a cup of tea to his lips.
"It's my uncle Sanoji who called." Takashi said and placed a bite of egg in his mouth.
"Sanoji, huh…? You know why he is calling?" He asks and Takashi looks up still eating.
"He was wondering if someone else can live here." Shigure blinks confused.
"Are you related to the person?" He shrugs.
"I don't know." He said and finished his food.
Touko was still over the phone talking with Sanoji about the same situation and Shigure decided to add himself. He stood up from his seat and began to clean the table quietly so that he can still hear the conversation. Finally once he was finished cleaning he saw that Touko walked back to the dining room with a smile on her face.
"Takashi-kun, you are finished and thank you for cleaning the table." She said clapping her hands and Takashi nodded.
"You are welcome." He said and she nodded to him.
"Let's all come to the living room." She said and he followed her to the said room.
"This reminds us when we were thinking of taking you in." Touko said once they were talking about the new person that was about to live there.
"You don't mind her living here?" Touko shakes her head.
"I would love a girl to live here considering I am the only girl here." Touko said smiling and he nods.
He nodded and was told that the girl was known to be around his age. Touko also explained more about her when she was to arrive and that Takashi was going to be the one to pick her up.
"Takashi, she is very quiet so be gentle with her." Touko explained and Takashi nodded to her explanation.
"I will set up myself for tomorrow." He said and Touko nodded along with Shigure.
"It has already been a year since Takashi-kun has settled here with us. He is more outgoing now and has a lot of friends." Touko said gently and Shigure nodded.
"He looks more relaxed than he was before. It was a good thing we insisted for him to come here." Shigure said and Touko nodded.
"I need to make him some lunch too!" Touko immediately stood and rushed over to the kitchen.
Shigure chuckled and looked up the stairs.
"He is a growing boy." He said before he followed his wife into the kitchen to help her with whatever she needed.
Takashi now sat in his room fixing his bag for tomorrow before he heard someone enter his room. He saw the porcelain cat sitting beside him opening its eyes.
"Finally, you are back home now sensei." Takashi huffed before fixing his bag again.
"Heard around here that there will be someone else living moving in. Is that true?" Takashi nodded and the cat looked over at him.
"Now that is interesting. You know who the person is?" He asks and Takashi shrugged.
"Where have you been all day?" Takashi said zipping the bag shut.
He pulled out a notebook from his school bag before trying to finish the summer home work that was given. He tapped his fingers over his desk in thought before he began writing in his notebook turning the pages in his school book. Another breeze entered the room and he saw that the cat was asleep and no longer able to answer any of his questions.
"I was out drinking." Madara, the cat said finally.
He nodded and continued his work finally able to finish all of it. He thought of the girl before he shook of the thoughts. He began to see his phone was losing battery and decided to charge it before he would pack it in his bag the next morning.
"When will you meet them?" He heard Madara say.
"Tomorrow afternoon. I have to go to my uncle's house to pick them up." He fixed his bed for the night.
"I shall join you." Madara said before he fell asleep and Takashi went down for dinner.
The morning came to pass and he was at the door of the house seeing Touko and Shigure getting ready to see him off at the station. Many people were there waiting for the same train to come by. He had his bag pack and a small bento bag with him with his cat around his arms.
"We shall see you later tonight." Touko said smiling and he nodded.
"Take care and be careful." Shigure added.
He saw his train come up to a stop before he entered inside waving them bye.
"It's a girl then." Madara said sitting next to Takashi.
"Yes…" He said and looked out the window.
He wondered who the girl was while the train led them to their destination.
