I'm sorry this is a week late, but school started and I had a bad case of writer's block. So I hope this was worth the wait.

12. The Nunchucks of Lightning

Cole was a little irritated with Alex, so instead of filling her in, he just said, "All right. Samurai X is waiting, we better get to the meeting spot as soon as possible."

"Who's Samurai X?" Alex asked.

"A samurai dude who has been helping us out on missions," Ryan said. "Oh! That reminds me! Alex needs a role!"

"Here we go again," Joesph mumbled.

"What?" Jay questioned.

"Ryan thinks everyone in the rebellion has a certain part that defines them. I think it's bull," Wilson said.

"All right, Cole's the leader, Wilson's the smart one, Joesph's the sarcastic one, I'm the youngest, Rick is the comic relief guy, Nicholas is the oldest, Jay is the prisoner," Ryan said, "and you're…the spy! There, done."

"Focus, guys," Cole said. He always got annoyed when they got off subject when they needed to be serious. He stopped walking as he reached the meeting place.

Samurai X arrived a moment later, jumping out of his suit after landing. He still had a helmet on and Cole never knew whether he could trust him, but so far the mysterious warrior hasn't let him down.

"According to my calculations, we will be able to infiltrate the castle soon," X said. "I've checked every guard schedule at every exit. As soon as I figure out which entrance to take and where the royal…" His voice faltered as he looked to Alex. "The princess is here?"

"Yeah, and there's a flaw to your plan," Alex said. "The biggest threat is no longer the guards. To be honest, it never was."

"What are you talking about?" X growled.

Cole turned to Alex. "Yeah, what are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the Sword of Fire," Alex said. "It's a powerful weapon, something my grandfather created. Ex-general Kai found it and carelessly allowed my father to get his hands on it. Our only chance to defeat him is to find the other Weapons of Spinjitzu."

"How do you know all this?" Wilson asked. "'I' don't even know what you're talking about!"

Alex looked down. "My uncle taught my brothers and I about it before he was banished. Now I see his reasons behind it."

"Okay, so how do we find the other weapons?" Cole asked, hoping for an advantage against the king.

"We can't," she sighed, "because when they were hidden from my dad…we need to find the other elemental ninja first. Clearly Kai is one, and even though I'm not happy about that, he is."

"Kai Blackstone?"

Cole looked back to Samurai X. There was a small hint of shock along with grief and sorrow. "Yeah, do you know him?"

It was quiet for a few minutes until X finally sighed and stated, "I use to, but now I don't think I do."

"He's actually not as bad…the second time I met him. The first time he made me wanna–"

"Enough Jay," Joesph interrupted, "your voice is giving me a headache."

"All right, so I guess our next task is finding the ninja," Cole said.

"You already have."

Everyone started looking around, but no one was around but them. "Show yourself!" X demanded.

"It's better if you don't know who I am," the voice said, and Cole could clearly tell it was male, but not too old. "I can't reveal anything, the seer told me not to, but powers will come soon. Some of you will only continue to grow, but the others…"

"Show yourself now!" Rick yelled.

"At least reveal what element is going to be found next!" Alex said.

It was quiet and at first they thought he left. Then he softly, almost too softly, said, "Lightning. Though I wouldn't get your hopes up." Then he was gone.

"Zoey."

Zoey took a deep breath. "Good, I was afraid you would not show."

"I know you've discovered your powers so you will no longer be paying me in gold, but with your visions."

"That wasn't the deal!" Zoey exclaimed, turning around to the shadowy figure behind her.

"Oh, so you wouldn't mind remembering? You wouldn't care if I allowed your brother's memory to return."

Zoey's eyes teared up, thinking about what would happen if he didn't keep his end. "Please no," she whispered. "The memory would haunt me and my brother's rejection would kill me."

"So we have a deal?" An arm stretched out, and Zoey could just barely make out that it was abnormally pale and the person attached was only sixteen or so.

She was hesitant, but then she nodded. "Deal." She took his hand to shake and her eyes turned white.

A boy with reddish-brown hair grabbed one side of a pair of golden nunchucks. A serpentine was on the otherside, trying to pull it away. "Give it!" he hissed.

"No! Let go!" Jay yelled. The two tussled for a while before a shadow grew in the corner. The two turned to it and stared for a moment.

"The nunchucks are mine," he hissed.

A girl ran over between them. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you take them," she said. "You shouldn't even have the sword!"

"Move," the shadow ordered, "or I'd have to kill you."

The girl's expression softened. "You wouldn't." Tears formed in the corner of her eyes.

"We both know I would." Then he launched forwards.

Zoey stumbled back and fell. Breathing heavily she managed to say, "Now for your end."

The boy nodded and flicked his wrists causing two black lights to fly out. One flew out of the bridge and the other hit Zoey. She slowly closed her eyes, feeling tired all of a sudden. "You're welcome."

"You can't tell anyone," Zoey said sleepily. "You can't try and change the future." The world faded and she passed out.

Alex paced her room once she was back at the castle. The next elemental weapon that will be found were the Nunchucks of Lightning. She knew that combined with the Sword of Fire would be bad, and the boy had said not to get their hopes up. The thought of her father possessing the weapons sickened her, but she knew he could never possess them all at once. No mortal could, physically or mentally. They were too powerful.

"Alex."

The princess turned to her mother. "Oh, hi," she said. "Um, I noticed that Kai was sentanced for a crime."

Misako nodded and sighed. "Not only is it bad that he was punished but now your father has the Sword of Fire. Now that he knows the others can be found, he'll stop at nothing to get them."

Alex swallowed hard. "Are we gonna lose him?"

The question went unanswered as Misako closed her eyes and quickly left, but that was all Alex needed to know. She always saw apart of her father in him no matter what he did, but now he was thriving for more power. She sat on her bed and silently sobbed. Now she would totally lose him to darkness.

"Knock. Knock."

Alex turned to the corner where he cousin Tove was. Quickly, she wiped her eyes and turned her head away. "I have a door you know."

"Doors are pointless," Tove said. "Why are you crying? I thought you were spying on the rebellion to find Lucas and take down Garmadon."

"That's King Garmadon to you," Alex snapped. "You wouldn't understand anyway! You don't feel."

Tove frowned and crossed her arms. "What's that mean?"

"Exactly what it says. You. Don't. Feel."

Tove was gone after that and Alex stood up. She took a deep breath and walked to her closet. "I'm not staying," she whispered. "I won't watch my family fall apart. I need to find the ninja. I just…I have to."
