AUTHOR'S NOTE: So, thank you for the reviews! I really appreciate it. To answer a couple concerns, I will be writing the plot at a fast pace. That's sort of my style so please bear with me. On another note, there was concern that "she ran into his arms too quickly" and I would like to point out that when you are in emotional distress, you don't always think clearly. She went to the first comforting thing she could find. Anyways, keep up the reviews please :) I don't own VA!
Chapter 3
Oh boy, is life complicated. I'm dealing with the emotional stress from reuniting with Jesse, and this new guy comes into my life and changes the whole game. I shake my head. No, I need to take a step back. Things are happening too fast with little time to process them.
I need to figure out how to get rid of Jesse. But first, I need to talk to my best friend. I walk to her dorm, seeking her advice. Lissa is my best friend. We've been together since we were in kindergarten. She wasn't a princess like me, but her dad was a prince on the council I am now apart of.
After I explain everything that has happened today, she just stares at me in shock.
"Okay, Liss. Are you going to help me or what?" I roll my eyes.
"Wow, two guys in one day." She laughs.
"No! There's nothing happening with them. There can't be. I need to get rid of Jesse before he tries to hurt me again." I don't find this situation humerous.
"I'm just surprised they didn't take you seriously. Like, something there doesn't add up." Lissa ponders
"I agree. I told them everything he did to me and all they could say was that it was 'silly high school drama.' They could care less!"
"So tell me about this guy! He sounds interesting." She leans forward.
"Well, I don't know. There's not much to say when I just met the guy. I mean, he was there for me when I was in a weak spot and spilled all of my secrets. I don't know, I feel safe with him. Jesse grabbed me hard, and this guy opened up his arms to me. It all happened so quickly."
"What's his name?" She asked. But, before I could answer, there was a knock on the door. "Oh shit, I'm sorry. I forgot a guy from my biology class was going to stop by with his notes." Lissa got up to answer the door. "Hey Dimitri! Hope my notes helped catch you up."
"Rose, this is my friend, Dimitri. He's a new student and I'm trying to help him get caught up." Lissa introduces us, not knowing we have already met. I whipped my head around to see the gorgeous guy who came to my aid.
"Hello, Princess- I mean Rose." Dimitri smiled.
"I didn't know you guys knew each other!" Lissa laughed.
When Dimitri looked away, I pointed him to Lissa and mouthed "That's him!"
I took in his bold features. He had deep, dark brown eyes that I easily got lost in. He looked about 6 foot and 7 inches. He had a Russian accent. He had longish brown hair that usually hung loosely by his cheeks. He was muscular and strong-built. Normal for any dhampir. He was a Russian god. He stood up to Jesse for me. He was there for me. Only problem was he was a senior and I was a sophomore.
"Well, I should probably get going, but thank you for the notes!" Dimitri broke the silence and left the room. "I'll see you around, Rose, I hope."
"No way! That's him? He's gorgeous!" Lissa giggled.
"Lissa, he's older than me. And wait, why is he in a sophomore class with you?" I ask in confusion.
"Well, he transferred here from an academy in Russia, and needs the credit to graduate. But seriously, Rose. You need to keep him around. He can protect you from Jesse." She brings up a good point. Especially considering he starts as my bodyguard tomorrow.
After a few hours, I leave to go back to my bedroom. Surprisingly, I run into Dimitri reading on a bench. "Hey Dimitri, what are you up to?"
"Oh I'm just relaxing. Come join me." He scoots over and motions a spot for me on the bench.
"So, listen. I wanted to thank you for being there for me when I was dealing with Jesse. It's just so complicated and hard. He really hurt me. But that's beside the point. I like you and I think you are sweet. But, you caught me in an emotional state. I'm not some girl who runs into every man's arms. Oh god, I'm rambling."
He laughed softly. "It's okay."
I looked away from him and pulled a strand of my dark, wavy brown hair away from my face.
"Thank you." I wrapped my arms around myself again. I had a cute T-shirt on but I was cold. I shivered.
"Here, let me help you." Dimitri slipped off his coat and handed it to me.
"Thank you again." I gave him a sad smile.
"I like you, but I don't treat you the way I do because I like you. I treat you nicely because every girl deserves to be treated properly. Call me old-school but that's how my mother and three sisters have taught me."
"I guess I'm not used to that."
"So tell me about yourself." Dimitri decides to change the subject.
"Well, my parents died recently, and I'm the last of the line. It changed a lot of things. Honestly, I'm still figuring myself out." I look down at my watch and realize how late it's getting. "Oh I'm sorry, it's getting really late. I don't want to miss curfew. Despite Kirova perceptions, I don't actually like getting in trouble." I stand up.
"Well, I would love to learn more about you. Um, Roza, I w-wondering if you wanted to have dinner with me?" He asked nervously. He stands up and starts walking to the door with me. He opens up the door like a gentleman. I shouldn't expected less.
I spoke my thoughts unintentionally. "Roza. I like it! It's cute!" I started blushing. "I mean, of course! I would love to!" I twirled my hair.
We finally reach my dorm room. We face each other. "Okay, I'll meet you outside your dorm at 7 tomorrow night." He smiled.
"Are you asking me out on a date, comrade?" I wink, giving him a nickname of my own.
He winked back. "I think you know the answer to that." He started to walk away. I couldn't get rid of my smile as I walked inside my dorm room.
Can I really trust another guy after Jesse?
