Chapter Fourteen

First Night with You

Alex and Robin's Room…

Robin was flabbergasted. She knew there was something familiar with the door number of their room; she just made herself believe it was a coincident. Out of the five keys she had the chance of receiving, why did it have to be the key of the room she and Alex used to stay in before? She hated it, especially the bed where they usually hanged out whenever Alex was too lazy to go out of the hotel. Robin shook her thoughts and went to the wardrobe to unpack her things, not caring much whether Alex was staring at her while he unpacked the things Sanji lent him, or not. The room was filled with a deafening silence and awkwardness, as none of them chose to utter a single word.

"Funny, how we end up at this very room again." Alex broke the silence, chuckling softly to lighten up the mood, like it was his first time talking to her again.

"Yes." Robin uttered, smiling, not letting her sight off the clothes she was unpacking.

"Are you still mad at me?" he sighed and stared at her even if her stare wasn't on his.

She paused for a split of seconds and continued placing her things in her side of the closet. "Why would I be mad?" she asked blankly.

"Because I hurt you before and now you're stuck here with me again, the same place where we used to be happy." he said in a low tone.

"That was all in the past. The purpose of this now is not to hurt us over and over again, but to teach us what we should have known before we did the stupid things that hurt us." she stood up and finished fixing her things. "And besides, everyone gets hurt." she grabbed her towel and clothes, and proceeded to the bathroom, leaving Alex dejected.

Alex sighed as he finished putting his clothes and things to his side of the closet and stared at the bathroom door. He felt like shit because he has all the chance to make it up to her, yet it was so hard doing it. Why does she always have to be a closed door? Alex shook off his thoughts as he lay down on the left side of the big bed in the room. He only has two weeks to make it up to her and giving up was the last thing he would do. And he will start as soon as Robin gets out of the washroom.

After a few minutes, Robin came out of the bathroom with pink-laced top and white shorts, ready for bed. Alex couldn't even take his eyes off of her as soon as she went out of the room, making him regret hurting her before but now he could make it up to her. Robin uncovered the comforter of her side of the bed and sat on it with her back leaning on the headboard and a book on her hand.

"You know the rules." Robin said as she opened her book where the bookmark lies and started reading.

"Is it alright if I move closer to you?" Alex asked sheepishly.

"It's alright, I guess."

Alex smiled and moved as close as possible to her, tilting his head a little to lean on her side. "When will you go back to the headquarters?"

"I'll try to visit once I found what I'm looking for ever since I was a child."

"We miss you there." he smiled.

"I miss them too."

"I missed you too…" he stared up at her.

Robin stared blankly at her book before saying "Me too."

"Will you ever forgive me?" he asked as he closed his eyes.

She grunted inside because the topic was opened again. "What do you mean?" she raised an eyebrow as she kept her eyes on her book.

"Will you ever forgive what I have done?"

"Forgive is such a big word, especially after you made her look like an idiot." Robin said frankly, still reading her book, just to stop him from bringing the topic up again.

Alex was speechless. He didn't know how to respond. He didn't know that she hated him this much. The only thing he could do now is to take it step by step to open things up and apologize. "Ohhh… I'm sorry. Good Night." He said as he went back to his side facing his back to her.

"But I didn't say she's not trying to. Well, good night." she said softly and leaned on him to fix the comforter on him before going back to read her book, making him to smile.

Luffy and Usopp's Room…

Luffy and Usopp started jumping up and down on the bed and running around like idiots as soon as they entered the room like they just broke free from prison.

"Woohoo~! What are we going to do the first thing we wake up, Usopp!? I saw an amusement park on the map right there!" Luffy cheered as he lay down the bed rolling and rolling till he gets dizzy.

"Hmmm… Nami said we'll have breakfast at the dining room in the morning, so we can go there after we're done." Usopp said as he rubbed his chin, looking at the map, and when he shifted his gaze back to Luffy, he was gone. "Where the hell did he go?" he looked around the room.

"Woaahah! This is cool, Usopp! Look! It's different from the Sunny!" Luffy said as he moved near the shower and turned on the cold water button of it.

"Woah! Cool! I-I mean, I've handle one of those before. Hahaha!" Usopp proudly said.

"Ahahaha! You're lying again!" Luffy laughed as he went out the bathroom.

Zoro and Nami's Room…

Zoro yawned as he lay down on the make-shift bed he did with the blanket and pillows on the floor. As expected, he didn't want to sleep on the same bed with Nami for he felt awkward with her and of course, he knew she wouldn't want as well, so the only thing he could do was to get some pillows and blanket and made him something comfortable to sleep on after unpacking few clothes. Nami didn't object anymore because she knew it would be an advantage for her because she will have the bed all for herself and that it was his own will even though she didn't mind him sleeping next to her.

"By the way, I'm giving you this." Nami said as she crawled on the side of the bed to hand him his own green baby den den mushi.

"What's this for?" he asked as he took it.

"For when you get lost when we try the maze, there might be something worth finding for in there, like treasures!" Nami's eyes sparkled. "It can connect with the others as well. Well you know how it works."

"Tch! Why would I go in that maze?"

"Because I want to and you're my partner, so you have no choice." She stuck out her tongue.

"Whatever. I'm still not going."

"Okay, I'll just increase your debt by fifty percent." She giggled.

"Tch! Fine, I'll go." He rolled his eyes and went back to lie down on the covers.

"By the way, good thing you decided to sleep on the floor. I don't want you taking advantage of my weak body~" Nami dramatically said as she exaggeratedly posed on the bed like she was all vulnerable.

"Dream on. I'd rather sleep outside than sleep next to you." He said and with that, he was kicked outside their room along with his pillows, blanket, and baby den den mushi.

"Tch! Great." he scratched the back of his head.

Brook and Chopper's Room…

Chopper was sitting in the tub with Brook scrubbing his furry back. He asked the afro-headed friend to help him on taking his night bath because Robin wasn't there to help him.

"Yohohoho~ So Robin-san really takes a bath with you?" Brook asked with his cheek bones started to flush as he rubbed Chopper's head.

"Yes. Sometimes, Nami too when Robin is busy at the library." Chopper giggled.

"Chopper-san so lucky~! You've seen their… Yohohoho~!" Brook had a few blood trickling down his nasal bone.

"Seen what? Sometimes, Zoro helps me out too when he just finished training." he played with the soap bubbles.

"Ohhh. Zoro-san helps you too. That's very nice of him. Yohohoho~"

"One time, Robin asked Zoro to join us when I and she were about to take a bath because I told her that Zoro joins me sometimes so it would be nice if he will be joining us too. It was funny~" Chopper giggled as he rubbed his face with soap bubbles.

"Whaaat!? Robin-san asked Zoro-san to take a bath with her!?" Brook cried as his jawbone dropped in the water.

"Hihihi~ Yes! It was very funny because Zoro's face was red and saying "What the hell are you saying!?" and she just giggled!" Chopper imitated Zoro with his left eye closed.

"That is so unfair~ She declined me when I asked her if I could join you~ Yoho~ Yoho~ Yoho~" Brook cried as his head fell on the tub.

"Brooook!" Chopper screamed.

Sanji and Lassy's Room…

Awkwardness. That's the atmosphere of the whole room as soon as Sanji and Lassy came inside until they finished packing. Somehow, Sanji was sensing a light feeling towards Lassy that he never felt with the okama's back at Kamabakka Kingdom. It's like he felt that Lassy was somehow a woman instead of a gay, he just didn't know why he was feeling it.

"Is it alright if we share beds? I won't touch you, so don't worry." Lassy smiled.

"That's weird. He's calm and not hyper like when we were at the ship." Sanji thought as he scratched his head. "Yeah. Sure."

"That's good then. Well, good night Sanji-kun." Lassy went under the covers on his side and slept, facing his back to him.

"Night." Sanji said as he lay down beside him, facing his back to his as well.

After thirty minutes, Sanji woke up with Lassy's hard breathings and cursing. He turned to face the brown-headed okama and to his surprise he was all sweaty and his face cannot be painted. Lassy was having his nightmares again and he doesn't know what to do. Sanji cannot wake him up because Robin told him last time that it's better to leave Lassy like that.

"N-No~ Please… Stop~ No more~" Lassy whimpered as he curled his hands into fists, clutching anywhere he could grip and tears were penetrating his closed shut eyelids.

Sanji's heart broke when he heard Lassy's feminine voice while crying out those words. He couldn't help but to wrap his arms around Lassy's head and rubbed his silky brown hair. "Shhh… Don't cry… It's just a dream…" he couldn't feel that Lassy's an okama anymore. Instead, Sanji felt that the brown-headed okama was a woman and he could never resist comforting a crying woman.

Suddenly, Lassy's eyes opened wide and saw a man was still taking advantage of him. He pushed Sanji away with all of his strength and stayed at the corner of the bed, hugging his knees, crying endlessly. "Stay away! You're one of them! No more! I had enough! It's more than enough!" he cried.

Sanji stood up with his hands up and moved slowly towards him. "It's me, Sanji. I won't harm you. Calm down."

"No! Stay away from me!" Lassy threw pillows at Sanji.

"I won't harm you like them. Trust me." Sanji waved his hands, signalling no.

"Y-You're just saying that so you can take advantage of me…" Lassy snapped out as soon as Sanji said to trust him; he just wanted to keep the mood.

"Then I'll just sleep on the floor so you won't have to be scared, how's that sound?" Sanji took the pillows and lay down the floor.

"Uhmm…" Lassy placed his finger on his lips and crawled towards the side of the bed.

"I'm sleeping here, so don't worry." Sanji lay down on his tummy on the floor.

Lassy giggled and wiped his tears, saying "I'm okay now, come back here. I trust you."

"Yosh!" Sanji stood up quickly and carried Lassy away from his side, throwing the brown-headed okama on his side of the bed before Sanji lay on his side. "Good Night." he fell asleep.

"Good Night, Sanji-kun. Thank you." Lassy giggled and went back to sleep.

Alex and Robin's Room…

It was past midnight and Robin was reading the third volume of the book she started reading earlier. She couldn't help herself to stop because it was so addicting. She even called a service to bring cappuccino while she enjoys reading her book. After a few minutes, she heard a knock from the door and she quickly got up to open it. A man holding a silver tray platter with a tea cup and tea pot showed upon her door. She let the man in and placed the tray on the coffee table on the side of the bed.

"Here you go sir." Robin gave a tip to the man.

"Thank you, ma'am. By the way, do you know that man over there?" he pointed out a green-haired man sleeping against the wall in front of Zoro and Nami's room.

"Ohh… I'll take care of him. Thank you for the concern." she smiled as the man left.

Robin approached the sleeping man and crouched down in front of him. She noticed the blanket and pillows next to him and smiled because he could still fall asleep everywhere. Zoro must've pissed off Nami so she kicked him out of their room. She sighed and stared at his peaceful features. Everything about him and Robin were starting to develop, if only Alex wasn't there to hinder it. If he wasn't always following her like a dog, there might be a chance that she and Zoro would have been partners because Nami could make him and Lassy partners.

Suddenly, her thoughts went blank as Zoro's strong arms quickly wrapped around her tightly, pulling her to him, making her to lose balance and just fall on him. Her eyes widened as her cheeks flushed furiously, touching his lips along with his chin, her shoulders down to her chest were pressed upon his broad chest, and her hands supporting her on the wall on both sides of his hips, in short, she's in a very uncomfortable position.

"Chopper, give me some warmth… It's so freezing in here…" Zoro mumbled in his sleep, rubbing his cold hands on Robin's back.

"Maybe if you could let me move in a comfortable spot then I could give you the warmth you needed." Robin thought as her legs were starting to tire down as well as her arms. She thought that Zoro might have been very tired for him to be sleeping deeply and having dreams.

"Hmmm… You're starting… to sme… ll like… Rob—R-Ro-R-Robin!" Zoro's right eye opened wide as deep red blush spread upon his cheeks. He quickly let go of her and moved back as far as he could but the wall was stopping him as he exclaimed "What the hell are you doing here!?"

Robin sat up straight and giggled as she looked at him. "One of the crew in the hotel saw you sleeping when he brought my coffee, so I checked up on you, and when I bent down, you suddenly pulled me in your arms." she smiled sweetly at him.

"Ahh… I didn't know." Zoro scratched the back of his head as he blushed faintly.

"It's alright. Why are you sleeping outside anyway?"

"Nami kicked me out." he scowled.

"You pissed her off?"

"Yeah. This wouldn't have happened if you were the one I'm with…" he mumbled only to be heard by him.

"Pardon?"

"Nothing."

"It's cold out here and I think you're not allowed to stay out here in the corridors. You can't go inside our room and Nami probably locked the door to your room. Do you want me to rent you a room just for the night? I could leave a note to Alex that I'll accompany you till morning so he'll go with Nami while you're gone."

"I'm fine here." he shifted his eyes away.

"You said in your sleep it was cold here so I'll rent you another room. Let's go." Robin stood up.

"Oi! I'm fine, woman!" Zoro testified as he was pulled up by Robin, making him to stand up very close to her, their nose almost touching.

Their eyes widened, their cheek flushed, their breathings stopped, their heartbeat skipped for a moment, their bodies so closed to each other, and the only moment left was for their lips to touch. Zoro couldn't even believe on what situation he was in right now. Robin only a few centimeters away from him was driving him nuts, making him forget every ounce of discipline and self-control he has. Robin gulped as she felt crazy butterflies trying to escape from her stomach. She didn't know what to do except to step back a little from him. It's not that she didn't want to be that close to him, it's just that she didn't know if he wanted it too.

"It's pretty hot in here, isn't it?" she fanned herself, feeling hot instantly, especially her neck.

"Yeah… It was cold earlier." he agreed as he scratched the back of his head.

"Do you want me to rent you a room now?" she can't stare at his eyes.

"I'll be fine. Maybe I'll just go for a walk or find a bar or something." he waved his hand and started to walk backwards before turning around, walking forward.

Robin stopped him by holding his wrist. "Wait. You can't go out alone. You need to have someone with you."

"What? I can take care of myself. And if you think I'll get lost, no, I won't." he looked back at her.

"No, that's not what I meant. This is a couple's island. If you go out by yourself you'll be taken to the palace and live there until you find your true love. You can never go out anymore."

"You're kidding, right? Heh. You seriously believe in that, Robin? You just read that in your books."

Robin furrowed her eyebrows for a while and stared at his wrist she was holding. "I've been in here many times." she said in a low tone.

"Hah?" he tilted his head to the side.

"I said I've been in this island many times, so you need to trust me that you can't go out alone, if you still want to see us again." she let go of him and looked straight in his eyes as memories of her in the island went flashing in her mind again.

"Tch! Fine." Zoro said as he rolled his eyes. Suddenly, he felt something changed with Robin's aura. "Oi, what's wrong?" he arched an eyebrow as he looked at her.

"I'm fine. Don't go out alone, okay? I'll go with you if you want to go to the bar or take a walk." she smiled brightly at him.

"Fine. But at least wear something less revealing." he said as he looked away from her, just realizing that she was wearing a revealing top and shorts.

"Alright, I'll change." Robin giggled and went back to their room, feeling glad because Zoro was concerned with what she wears.

After a few minutes, Robin went back outside with the blue turtle-neck long-sleeved top that she used to wear back before they met Z (At film Z) and her pink bag. "Is this better now?" she giggled as she walked next to him.

"I guess so." he smiled and started to walk with her.

"I brought this, just in case." she showed him her purple baby den den mushi.

"Tch! I told you, I won't get lost." he rolled his eyes to the side.

"No, I brought it just in case Alex wakes up and look for me. He might ask Nami and she might look for you as well. I brought this, if ever she contacts me." she giggled and placed her den den mushi inside her bag.

"Whatever."

Zoro and Robin went down to the lobby without uttering a single word. Instead, they just shared the silence of one another. Just after they went out of the elevator until they left the hotel, two pairs of eyes were staring at them.

"Wow~ I still admire how you do your match-making thing, honey~" a masculine voice said to his partner.

"Oh you~ I knew they have that spark in between them. Let's just see what happens once they realize their feelings for each other." a feminine voice agreed as she smirked.

"Gaaahh!" Zoro breathed as he smacked his empty mug down the table. That was the fifteenth mug for the night ever since he and Robin went inside the bar. He had to admit, talking to her with free booze was the best drink he ever had. He's quite glad that his drinks were free because the bartender saw the two of them as a cute and hot couple, which totally made him proud. "So you've been here many times now?" Zoro asked Robin as he raised his mug up to ask for another round.

"Yes… and I hate it." Robin said as she felt a little tipsy with the cosmopolitan cocktail Zoro recommended for her to drink. At first, she just wanted to order a cup of coffee but since it was a bar, they don't serve that kind of drink there. She asked Zoro what cocktail should she order and he recommended that. It tasted like cranberry juice with a swift kick of vodka and triple sec which hit her tipsy spot.

"Why?" he asked as he chugged down his rum-filled mug.

"It's full of bittersweet memories." she munched spicy nuts that were placed on a plate at the center of their table.

"That sucks." he shoved a hand full of spicy nuts in his mouth.

"That's not all. The person whom I was always with at this very island, whom I hated because all of those memories, happens to be my partner here now." she sipped her drink.

"The fuck? You were always with that Alex guy here before?" Zoro raised an eyebrow as he chewed the nuts.

"That's not all. He was my boyfriend that time. I was in love with him for one reason. You know what that was?" she quoted the word "boyfriend" as her voice was starting to change and Zoro confirmed she was drunk.

"What?" he asked as he felt like dignity was stepped on, knowing that Alex was Robin's past lover.

"Because he was like you when I'm with him…" her eyelids were starting to fall as she drank her cocktail straight.

"Damn woman, you're drunk. So what if he was like me?" Zoro took her glass and stood up. He pulled her up and she wrapped her arms around his neck, making him to blush furiously.

"Because I like you so much…" she closed her eyes and planted a kiss on his lips. It was a quick one but it lingered on Zoro's lips, immobilizing him until she let go. "Come on, let's go back to the hotel~" she giggled as she groggily walked away from the bar.

Zoro was stunned. It's like he was hit with a stun gun. He couldn't believe what Robin just said and did. It was out of the blue. He knew it was just an effect of being intoxicated with alcohol but he also knew that drunken people never lie. He felt his body frozen when she kissed him and for the first time, he felt butterflies trying to escape from his stomach. Her lips were soft and gentle. It felt like he kissed a marshmallow. If only he was able to move, he wouldn't let their lips part. But his thoughts snapped as soon as he saw Robin was trying to walk her balance towards the front door. Without a word, he pulled her from behind and carried her in between his arms (bridal style) which made her to gasp and giggle. "You are so going to kill yourself tomorrow after what you've said and did tonight." he smirked as he kicked the door and went out of the bar.

"It's not tomorrow yet, so I might as well enjoy this night till it lasts." Robin placed her left arm on his back, holding tight to his right shoulder, and her right arm across his chest, meeting her left hand on his shoulder, holding on tight to him. She rested her head on his shoulder and covered her eyes with his neck, feeling safe in his arms.

"Maybe you should always get drunk so you'll be more true to yourself?" he smiled and started walking wherever his feet took him.

"Where are you planning on taking me, Zoro-kun~?" she giggled.

"Damn, you should see yourself when you're drunk. You're reputation is ruined, woman." he chuckled and for the first time, his feet went to the right place. He was standing in front of the hotel they stayed in to.

"This is a surprise." she teased making Zoro to grunt as he entered the building. "And it won't happen anymore anyway, unless…" she giggled and pointed where the elevator lies.

"Unless what?" he curiously asked as he went to the direction she pointed at.

"Secret~" she giggled and place her finger on her lips.

"Tch!"

After a few wrong turns and teases, they finally reached where their room was located. It was almost five in the morning and soon, they'll be in deep shit when their friends wake up and find Robin drunk. She can't even stand up straight when he put her down. He didn't know she has a low alcohol tolerance that's why she only takes few shots when they have a banquet.

"Oi, you might want to get some sleep." Zoro said as he held her hand while she tries to stand straight.

"What about you?" she asked as she held her head, feeling the kick of the alcohol hitting her.

"I'll be fine. It's morning anyway and you should take a rest. Coffee's good." he smiled.

"Yes, I probably should 'cause my head hurts like I've been hit by a swingiling-dingdong." she blinked with what she just said.

"What the hell did you just say?" he raised an eyebrow as his right eye widened a bit.

"I have no idea… Remind me not to take eight cosmopolitan cocktails in one night. Good Night, Zoro. Thank you for letting me accompany you or the other way around." she leaned in and kissed his cheek before waving her hand as she entered her and Alex's room.

Zoro smiled and sat back to his spot where Robin found him during the night. He was so happy to know that Robin actually felt the same way about him. He just needed to know how he will make a move on getting her because he sucked at expressing his feelings. But knowing that she likes him puts a smile on his face. But the thought that she had a past with that bastard Alex makes Zoro want to slice him into shreds because he hurt her. But one thing is for sure, Robin will die out of embarrassment once she wakes up later on. Zoro leaned back on the wall with blanket around him and went back to sleep with a smile on his face.

"Swingiling-dingdong? What were you thinking, Robin?" Robin whispered to herself as she closed the door behind her, cursing herself for acting differently with him. She bit her lower lip as his soft lips still linger on hers, making her to blush. After what had happened tonight, she had no idea how she will face him tomorrow. She still knew what she was doing, she just couldn't control herself. Robin sighed and went to bed, not realizing she had neglected the cappuccino she ordered earlier.
