The Underworld

"What the blazes do you want this time? More punishment? Or was the last one enough for you?" she screeched out at the son of Poseidon. Percy's ears perked up at the call, before he grinned widely and smiled at Alecto. His feet dangled over the edge, and he was coated in his own blood, dirt, and he had been stripped down to a nude self due to the monsters clawing at his clothes. He had made it up to a higher ledge, where the monsters couldn't reach, but he knew this ledge would collapse under his weight, just as the last one had. His blistered heat hung over the edge.

"There she is. Come to tell me a bedtime story. How about, "Beauty and the Beast?"I like that one. I'll be the beauty, and you'll be the beast," he cackled. Alecto snarled in anger as she flicked her wrist at him. Her fiery whip lashed across his chest with a sickening snap. Percy's eyes widened in pain, before he began laughing again.

"There's no point inflicting more pain. I'm already broken, and when I get out of this hellhole, (no pun intended), you'll be the first one to suffer my wrath," he warned. Alecto chuckled.

"You think you're ever getting out of here? No one has ever escaped from the Fields of Punishment, especially our highest security soul to date! Hades got his own personal pack of hellhounds to guard you!" she gestured to the heads of the beasts, who were leaning over the edge of the pit, staring Percy down. Percy glared back fiercely, causing one of the larger Hellhounds to whimper back.

"Not very impressed Alecto. You'll see impressive very soon. Very soon.. Aha! AHAHAHAHA!" Percy laughed evilly, smiling a menacing smile at Alecto before winking. The fury flew away angrily that she had been embarrassed like that by someone who once feared her like the devil. She knew he was up to something, but what, she couldn't put a finger on. She shrugged, until a howl pulled her out of her thoughts.

Cerberus was howling an alarm, his three heads facing the entrance to Tartarus across the Fields of Asphodel. The sealed walls had fallen, and monsters were pouring into the Underworld from an even more evil place. Alecto's jaw dropped, as she heard a male voice singing "Skyfall," once more, followed by a deep roar from a reptilian monster.

"Di Immortales!" she cursed before rushing to Hades' palace to warn her master.

Percy had not actually realized that his threat to Alecto was coming to life. In fact, he had been bluffing, just trying to piss of the Fury to aid his amusement and so his torture would seem less horrendous.

When he heard an all too familiar roar from what seemed to be a dragon, he suddenly felt a wave of focus and alertness hit him. His eyes opened, much more clearly this time, fully realizing what was going on.

"It can't be..." he muttered to himself. He had his suspicions that his companion would reform in Tartarus after a certain amount of time, but for a beast so powerful he had no idea that it would take such little time and energy for Tartarus to actually reform it. This was truly Tartarus' doing, as he was beginning to become more lucid and awake and was surely decreasing the time it took monsters to reform.

His suspicions were confirmed when the colossal form of a midnight black dragon landed on the edge of the pit. It bared its fangs, which were the size of full length swords, at the hellhounds, incinerating some and scaring the others off into a panicked frenzy. The dragon turned its enormous head into the pit, staring at Percy with a look of longing in its eyes. It then became excited and almost giddy when Percy smiled, but it shot him a look that said, what, did you forget about me already?

"Moros!" Percy exclaimed. This was exactly who he wanted to see down here. The Thracian Dragon. His dragon. In fact, Moros had fallen at the hands of Zeus' master bolt, and it was about time to get revenge.

Revenge...

The word tasted bitter in his mouth. Revenge at whom. Zeus? For throwing him down into the pit? Surely that would come in time, but what about Hades, for imprisoning him here? And finally, Adrastos. What of him? Surely he wanted to bash his face in for literally sending him to the afterlife. But in realistic terms, if what was said was true, that Erebus has planned for this all along, the surely it was Tartarus and Erebus to be blamed for his death. In fact, they had raised him up like a pig waiting to be slaughtered; unaware and killed in cold blood without any prior knowledge.

But Percy could not bring himself to turn on Tartarus and Erebus. They had provided so much for him after his banishment. They made him leader of an army of monsters greater than the world has ever seen. They gave him powers demigods could only dream of possessing. The promised him the revenge that the Gods deserved, and the revenge that he knew he wanted to unfurl on the Olympians. Should he escape, he knew not what decision he would make, but he knew he would never side with the gods again.

Moros stuck one of his wings down into the pit, which provoked the monsters underneath Percy. They roared and gnashed their teeth, trying to mangle the great dragon's wing. Moros replaced the pit with his head and quickly charred the monsters until they were nothing but dust. Percy reached up to Moros and hoisted himself onto the great drake's back. He gestured the beast forward before a dark voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Going somewhere, Perseus?"

Percy knew who it was before he turned his head. He had heard that cold evil voice too many times before in his life. He looked the man in the eyes, but was met with startling visions of death and decay. He realized the man was wearing his helm of darkness, which caused terrifying hallucinations to the victim. Percy's powers helped him choke this down, and he swallowed his fears as he saw images of Annabeth dying and the gods winning the war.

"Ah, Hades. Nice of the host to visit one of his VIP guests," he retorted. Hades smirked smugly. He started pacing around Percy and Moros.

"I see you are trying to escape. Which is a good idea, mind you, if your body was not being used as an immortal host for a god right now," he replied smugly. Percy looked confused, but then his eyes widened. Hades saw this and continued.

"So, if you are starting to catch up to what is going on right now, you can't actually leave the Underworld! You're nothing but a ghost without your mortal skin to shed!" Hades finished. Percy cocked his head to his side quizzically.

"Why are you telling me this if you hate me so much?" he asked. Hades laughed maniacally, wiping tears from his eyes.

"Hate you? I don't hate you! I envy your lust for revenge. Your desire to avenge your banishment truly inspires me, and as much as I want to help you dethrone my brother, I'd rather be stuck living under his tyranny than be tortured for thousands of years by a horde of bloodthirsty and sadistic Primordial Gods. So Percy Jackson, as seeing to the fact that I can't kill you since you are already dead, you are stuck here until Erebus sheds your skin," the lord of the dead said.

Percy cringed when Hades used the snake analogy. He hated snakes, ever since his encounter with Medusa when he was 12. But then again, he was commanding an army that was filled with snake women, dragons, drakons, and all sorts of reptiles. He felt a rage of anger towards Adrastos when he realized that he used the word was. He was the leader and is not anymore because he was slain by someone who was clearly inferior to him.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when Hades took advantage of the situation.

"I see you are feeling troubled. So, I'll let your incarnate form down here have some fun with my army of dead. We'll see how you prove yourself to truly be a threat when you are weaponless," he mocked before disappearing to his palace. Percy's expression grew grim as he realized Erebus was fighting with Riptide and it must have stayed above ground with him. He cursed himself for not being more aware, as he saw wave after wave of the undead streaming towards his position.

"Shit," he cursed. He was in a tight situation here. He hopped off Moros and began to panic. He needed a weapon, and began frantically searching around until a wave of realization hit him. He rolled his eyes at his stupidity and ran back to Moros. His dragon seemed to roll his eyes at Percy as the demigod had forgotten that he had an 80 foot Thracian Dragon at his disposal. He climbed up the great beast's side and mounted the dragon just like old times

"Rain hell Moros! Monsters of Tartarus! ATTACK!" he shouted. His voice echoed throughout the underworld like that of a deep shout in the Grand Canyon. Growls and barbaric cries of bloodlust conquered the sound waves of Hades' domain as the monsters began to attack. Moros roared ferociously, reared up on his hind legs, and took flight, shooting down bombardments of fireballs at the army of the undead. Percy grinned evilly, yelling out commands to his army of monsters. He had returned, and he meant to finish what he had started.

Suddenly a though struck Percy of one of his lessons with Tartarus. Perhaps he could communicate with Erebus from in the Underworld.

"Well, it's worth a shot," he stated. Moros grunted in approval. Percy concentrated on his thoughts as Moros continued to rain fire upon the underworld from above.

"Erebus, it's time to get out of my body. I can escape the underworld and you can become incarnate again. We can overrun Hades in his own domain and we will do so, but I will be trapped down here unless you do something about it," Percy thought. He could tell he made contact when a dark voice returned his remark.

"Percy, it is almost time. I can become my true form in a matter of hours. Once the underworld has been liberated, your body will be your own once more. I will rise, and together we will use another to raise Tartarus. Go, my Champion. Put Hades in his place," he commanded. Percy opened his eyes, fire reflecting off his dark orbs of sight as he looked upon the carnage he was wreaking upon the underworld. He spotted Hades watching the events unfold from a balcony on his palace.

"Gotcha, you son of a bitch," he muttered. He motioned Moros to dive at the Lord of the Dead. The great dragon shot down from the sky with such speed Percy struggled to hold on. When Hades finally saw what hit him, it was too late.

Camp Half Blood:

Annabeth stumbled into camp after a couple of minutes, clutching her wrist in pain and wincing every step she took. When Hyperion had asked how she had broke it she lied and said she tripped. Although the Titan of the East was no fool and could see through her lie, he let it pass and allowed her entrance without question.

When she finally made it to the infirmary she was stopped by a slight shock of electricity hitting her right shoulder.

"Ouch!" she gasped, turning around with her knife in hand. Zade jumped back in shock, holding up both hands in surrender.

"Sorry Annabeth. It was an accident I swear," he replied. Annabeth mumbled under her breath that he was an absolute moron, but to her fortune his ears did not pick it up.

"Hey, umm. I thought we should talk, you know, about Percy. I just don't really know what exactly happened after I died, and, Chiron thought it would be best to talk to you. I know you must think that it was my fault, that my dad threw Percy into Tartarus, and I don't blame you... but...I just want to know the truth," he said. Annabeth blinked once, then sighed.

"Look, Zade. I'll tell you, just sit down with me while I get my wrist checked out alright?" she asked. The son of Zeus nodded and followed her into the infirmary.

While the doctor's began their work on Annabeth, she began to tell Zade what happened.

"So, here goes. After you... died... Zeus immediately flashed down from Olympus to see what had happened. All he saw was a hole in your stomach and Percy holding his sword above your corpse. Your dad assumed it was Percy right away, and without any trial, without any concrete evidence but a false hunch he threw him into Tartarus," she vented. Zade looked down in shame.

"We burned your funeral pyre the next day along with one for Percy, although I knew he wasn't dead. I've been to Tartarus before and... I don't even want to talk about the horrific trials I went through down there, but all in all I made it out. We made it out. So I knew he would survive down there. How long was the question. Well, we all moved on for the next couple of years. I couldn't, of course. He was my everything. He was going to ask me to marry him, then everything went to shit. I thought I had lost my Sea-Weed Brain, until he showed up 5 years later when camp was attacked.

"He was riding this humongous, extinct dragon species that apparently was raised in Tartarus and by Tartarus for the mere purpose of helping the destruction of the gods. He burned down half of camp, and began leading armies across the country for our destruction. I was able to trick him and get him captured, but that didn't last long because these ancient children of Gaea that no one knew about showed up out of no where and broke him out of prison on Olympus!

"That was when I knew the situation had gone from bad to worse. These beings held off all of the Olympians by themselves, and there were only three of them. One of them impaled Ares with his spear and almost caused him to fade with one blow-"

"Okay hold up one second," Zade interrupted. "These, creatures... What are they?" he inquired. Annabeth shuddered.

"They're called the Wrath-Bringers. They are named Brutallus, Azarad and Trelopades and were basically executioners and torturers residing in Tartarus for an eternity, forgotten and full of anger. Perfect for Erebus' army. They are big, strong, and incredibly magical and powerful. And immortal, to add to their list of attributes," she ranted. Her hatred for those three was beyond belief. They not only killed half of her party in Tartarus but her best friend Grover too.

Zade nodded and shut up to let Annabeth continue the story.

"So, anyway, we get news that 5 separate armies were all going to rally up and attack Camp. We knew there was no way we could survive, especially without the gods' help, so I came up with a plan to try to get some... aid from a powerful being."

"Typhon and the Titans? The ones out front?" The son of Zeus asked. Annabeth nodded grimly.

"While in the underworld I saw Percy. Apparently he had been killed and Erebus had taken over his body. That's what you saw today." Zade looked down with sorrow.

"Percy is insane now. His mind is lost. I-" Annabeth choked up on words. Zade reached out to put a hand on her shoulder but she brushed him aside.

"Anyway... when we got into Tartarus, most of our group died. Me, Nico and Thalia were the only ones to make it out. That is pretty much it. Are we done here?" she asked, tears still flowing down her cheek. Zade nodded and made his leave out of the infirmary. Annabeth continued to lie there, sobbing as the doctors continued to heal her up with ambrosia and nectar; the food of the gods.

Where are the Gods now, she thought. She let out a scream, and then passed out from exhaustion.

Underworld

"Ready to die, lord Hades?" Percy asked, the God of the Underworld stuck in Moros' jaws. Percy had broken a vase and held a shard of glass to the elder god's throat. Hades merely laughed.

"Die? I can't die, you fool. I am a god!" he yelled with humor. Percy smirked.

"I had hoped you would say that. You may not be able to die, but I can make you wish you could," he retorted smugly. Hades' smile faded as he got an idea of what was going on.

"Now Percy... you might want to reconsider. I can help you. I can-"

"ENOUGH with the bullshit Hades. You are gonna rot down there and you're gonna like it," he spat out. Hades winced in pain as Moros bite down once more, this time breathing a little tuft of fire onto Hades. The Lord of the Dead squealed with pain. Percy smiled sadistically, mounting his dragon once more. They took flight, this time heading towards the pathway to Tartarus across the Fields of Punishment. Percy spat down at the pit where he was held prisoner, and continued his flight towards the pit with his uncle in Moros' mouth.

When they approached the pit, Moros landed and spat out the god onto the ledge of the abyss. Golden Ichor seeped through his wounds, and with each cough came out his mouth. Percy stabbed him in the stomach with his shard of glass, Ichor spewing out of his wounds.

"Any last words, uncle?" the son of Poseidon asked. Hades looked at Percy one last time and nodded.

"Tell Nico I love him. And one more thing." Hades reached into his pocket to grab something for Percy, and Percy looked on curiously until Hades pulled out nothing but his middle finger and a smug look. Percy spat on the god and stood above him.

"Lord Tartarus, except this offering. May the God of the Dead aid in your rise from the abyss to the above-ground. May his embodiment serve as a bridge from the ethereal to the physical. Hades, prepare to face Kronos' fate," he prayed as he slit the God's throat and threw him into the pit.

"Good riddance," he muttered before the entire pit began to rumble. Laughter echoed throughout the chasm as the walls shook violently. An explosion of darkness formed on the ledge where Percy stood and there stood two beings, looking very similar. One had blood-red and black eyes, and embodied pure evil. The other stood with his hair black as night, and his eyes just like Percy's.

Percy knew right away what had happened. He had risen his masters to their true form. The cataclysm had begun.
