I stood at the altar anxiously waiting for the moment I get to marry you. Emmett, standing as my best man, was next to me with a hand on my shoulder. Jasper was next to him. Emmett was talking but I wasn't hearing a single word he was saying.
You wanted a small wedding and I think we all know that I will give you whatever you want. Not that I wanted a big wedding. This was the most important event in our lives thus far and I wanted to share it with only those that we love.
I'm glad you didn't stress over every little thing about this day. "Weddings are meant to be enjoyed. I don't want to spend the entire day stressing about trivial things. All that matters is you and me," you told me a few months ago when we first started planning. I hear the music begin to play. Most of the people that we love are seated waiting to watch this moment of our lives. The rest are about to walk down the aisle.
Alice comes down the aisle first, almost skipping. She looks beautiful in her short, flowy dress that seems to match her personality. Next comes Rosalie, also looking beautiful in the same dress as Alice.
And then I finally see you. I see you before you see me. And you are so beautiful it almost brings tears to my eyes.
You are walking down the aisle with both of your parents. You don't believe that your father is giving you away. You prefer to think of it as both of your parents leading you to the next stage of your life. They walk proudly next to you, holding your arms.
You finally look up and as soon our eyes meet you seem to speed up a bit. I think, I hope, that you are just as anxious to marry me as I am you. And who cares that your steps don't match the beat of the song playing. I certainly don't.
I wish I could say that I remember all of the words spoken about us, about marriage. But I don't. I remember saying 'I do' and I remember you saying 'I do' and then I remember our first kiss as husband and wife. I remember you crying of happiness as you said your vows and I remember feeling like I was flying because I was so happy.
I remember dancing at the reception with our siblings and everyone we love. I remember laughing at Emmett's attempt to do the worm. I remember our feet hurting. And I remember crawling into bed with you for our first night as a married couple. When I look back on our wedding I don't really remember that many specific moments. I remember how I felt and how you looked. And that is everything that I want to remember.
