A/N: Hello everyone, and no this is no hoax. After nearly three years, I have finally updated this story. The first thing I need to do though is apologize to all the people who read and enjoyed this story for probably making them give up hope this would ever get completed. The main reason I stopped was when the announcement that the fourth Chipmunks movie was being pushed back two years, I was so bummed about it that I lost any desire to write for a long time. But since Road Chip came out, which I enjoyed very much, it's become funny how this story I started four years ago could literally be slipped in between Chipwrecked and Road Chip in terms of plot and character; notice in Road Chip they weren't performing anymore? Did anyone find it weird that Theodore was a lot more spunky? That all started here ironically enough. It's also funny how this story now bares a very similar resemblance in plot and plot points to the "Lil' T" episode in the new "Alvinnn" show. Is it possible someone saw my story? Who knows, but enough talk, I've made you wait long enough. It's time to finish this story. As all my stories, all the rights of these characters go to their respective owners. Time for Chapter Forty, let's go!

Chapter 40: Facing the Music

While five of the kids were in one part of L.A., the other one...the youngest one was who knows where. He may have been completely out of the city for all anyone could know. As Staples was continuing to pile up and file in with fans waiting to see the one who was no where to be found, Ian was outside the arena pouting like a kid himself, pulling out what was left of his short, non-existing hair as Dave looked on.

"Just great!" Ian whined. "One hour before the concert, and my star is M.I.A." Making Dave just scoff at the remark.

"Would do you mean "Your star"? Maybe that's the reason why you're in the position your in." Dave telling him up, only making Ian whine even more. Dave continued to read the letter that Ian had in his possession, still not understanding why his youngest son wrote what he did, but he knew Ian did. And he wanted answers. "Why did you lie to me? What's Theodore talking about Ian?"

Ian had his feet put to the fire again, but at least he had an explanation. "Look! Yes, I did lie to him about some stuff..." Ian stopped as Dave gave him a "I know better than that..." look, Ian shook his fists in nervousness. "...Okay! A lot of stuff, but I already told him about that. He even acted like he understood. Then I told him, if he wanted to get out of the contract after the concert, I was going to let him. I said that! I meant that Dave! My hands are clean on that!"

Dave gave a look as if he didn't believe, but Ian was quick to jump on it. "Oh! You don't believe me? Here, I'll give you the company to Theo's contract, talk to them if you don't believe me, they'll tell you everything. I'm not the bad guy this time...well...except for the lying about a lot of stuff."

Dave came to the conclusion that was what Theodore believed Ian was lying about, but if what Ian said was true...for once, Theodore would have made a terrible mistake. Dave told Ian to remain at the arena and he would make an attempt to find his son. But as soon as he was out of Ian's sight, his two security officials stopped him.

"Mr. Seville, hop in our car. We just got a report from the taxi station. Someone knows where your son is."

Dave dashed into the police car as fast as he could. Shortly after the car's sirens blared to signal traffic and pedestrians to evade the oncoming car. Dave in the back began to get very nervous and shaking.

"Please be alright Theodore..."

It was the only thing he could say...it was the only thing he could think.

As Ian watched Dave trail off at a quick pace, it left him without any course of action. What was he supposed to do, as he put his hands up in confusion.

"Well, that's just great!" Ian called out. "What possibly should I do while he does what I should be doing?" When he heard a response from behind him.

"You can always do what you did last time you were here..."

Ian turned around to see one of the security guards who stayed behind giving a bit of a snarky remark. "How would you know about that?" Ian confronted him.

"You dressed in a skirt and pretended to be a chipmunk, news like that gets around real quick on the national headlines, plus my dad is one who threw you out." The officer gave his response, which put some embarrassment on Ian's face. He sure did remember that time he dressed like the girls to avoid the fact they ditched him right before their concert. It was like deja vu all over again. Then a thought came to Ian...

"You said it was seen by everyone?" He implied. To he received a nod from the officer, he gathered a sly grin. "Got any pillows?"

The young green clad chipmunk was slowly trudging through the wilderness of the rural section of country side. He was miles away from the city, he knew no one would find him out here. He made his way through the sloppy mud made from the steady downpour the night before, his feet would occasionally get stuck in the ground making him struggle to move around. The wind was gusting making little Theo get pushed back, also despite an August night was fairly cold on his fur from the water and mud starting to stain and clump on him.

To make matters worse, he was very hungry and tired. His stomach growled often and loudly, which only made the poor chipmunk whimper in sadness.

Theodore bundled himself in his hoodie that was specially made for his concert that night, which was not as thick as his traditional green sweater, plus being covered in mud and dirt made it impossible to keep him dry or warm. But then, to make it any more worse than it could possibly be, Theodore's sniffling pink nose was hit by a rain drop, making him look up to the sky. It started to rain again in the L.A. Valley.

"Oh great..." Theodore quietly mumbled to himself. Perhaps the only good thing about the rain was it could disguise the visible water drops coming from his eyes. He had to find somewhere out of the pouring rain before he got sick, nearby there was a large oak tree that could protect him from any further rainfall. If Simon was here, he'd probably go on a lesson of it being an Engelmann Oak...or Quercus engelmannii scientificly, but Theodore could have cared less about that. To him it was called "shelter".

Deep down poor Theodore felt he deserved this, after everything he had done and said to everyone, this had to be someone's way of getting back at him. He looked up at the clouds that showed no signs of letting up anytime soon; he was stuck out here, which made him sigh. Maybe now...he truly felt what it was like to be alone.

I'm tired of being what you want me to be

Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface

I don't know what you're expecting of me

Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes

Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow

Every step that I take is another mistake to you

Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow

Dave desperately runs through the rain into the taxi waiting for him as he begins to look for his son who could be anywhere by now...

I've become so numb, I can't feel you there

Become so tired, so much more aware

By becoming this all I want to do

Is be more like me and be less like you

I've become so numb, I can't feel you there (I'm tired of being what you want me to be)

I've become so numb, I can't feel you there (I'm tired of being what you want me to be)

Theodore could only look up to the sky and wish that this nightmare would end.

As the chipmunks completed another song inside the sold out arena they were performing in, a voice came on the loudspeaker to speak to the audience.

"We are going to take brief intermission. And we'll be back with more from The Chipmunks & Chipettes Farewell Show."

While the message was being announced, the kids went back behind the curtains to catch their breath and to gather themselves. Alvin and Simon looked around trying to figure where Dave had gone who was still missing, and they were never given any word that he was around. It wasn't like Dave to not be there, especially for a show that was this important and meaningful to all of them.

"I don't understand it, why is Dave not around?" Alvin questioned aloud to himself, gathering the attention of the girls as well. They were certain he was somewhere, but it was clear they were worried that they hadn't seen Dave since before the concert began.

"I know..." Simon concurred. "This isn't like Dave to be no where we wouldn't know."

Alvin turned around to see Brittany staring at the floor just shaking her head at the conversation, Alvin's ears perked at the demeanor of the chipette before him.

"Something you wanna say Brit?" Alvin's question caused a group of eyes to look over to the chipmunk dressed in pink. She sighed at his curiosity.

"Alvin..." She started, and then just flat out said it. "He's probably with Theodore, giving him his big sendoff."

"Don't be ridiculous Brit, I know Theodore is family, but why would Dave leave us? We kinda have a little bigger sendoff at the moment." But as Alvin finished his statement, a female attendant walked up to the kids who had looking for Dave herself.

"Well, did you find him?" Simon inquired. A shake of the lady's head.

"I'm sorry, but Dave Seville is not in the arena."

"What!?" Simon and Alvin said at the same time, as Brittany walked through both of them heading back to the entrance way of the arena to return for the crowd.

"Pfft, you were saying..." Brittany gave her two cents to the boy's again. Soon an announcement came on the arena's P.A. system.

"And the second half of "The Chipmunks & Chipettes Farewell Tour is about to begin!"

A sense of loneliness from the remaining Chipettes came across their faces as they walked past the boys as well.

"Well, we better get back out there..." Jeanette told them, taking Eleanor by the hand pulling her back to the entrance. Eleanor looked to the boys with concern and a bit of fear. Alvin shook his head with Simon next to him.

"I just don't get it...what would Dave need to do that's more important than this?" Alvin asked his direct younger brother. All Simon could do is lead Alvin back to the stage way, only giving a brief answer.

"I don't know Alvin."

And with that, the boys joined the girls back at the stage. And despite preparing to perform in front of thousands of fans, they couldn't feel more alone.

There's Chapter 40! Again, I cannot say enough how grateful I am to the people who stuck with me all this time waiting for this. I can say to all you who have that about 95% of the remaining dialogue is finished, there is still some stuff that needs complete in that department. After that, it will just be putting it all into story form, but the main thing is this story is just about all wrapped up, which sucks it took this long for me to put only a few more chapters together for this. I hate myself so much for this, you guys and gals deserved much better than that. So again, I'm sorry. But hopefully, this will get an additional update in the near future so we can finally say Chipmunks: Together 4Ever has a complete story. Until then, thanks for reading! :)
