A/N- Hey all! So this is the very first chapter of Part 3 of "I Will Never Say Goodbye." I know it's been over two years since I ended Part 2, so my writing style is a lot different in sound and feel than it was in the previous chapters. Let me know what you think and I apologize in advance if it's too different for your taste.

Also, this chapter is from Ivy's POV, because it just made the most since for this part of the plot.

((DISCLAIMER: I do not own The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.))

CHAPTER 11: "Gale"

I sit in the grass holding the yellowed envelope delicately between my fingers. I resist all urges to rip it open, instead letting my mind make up exotic stories about its contents.

"Don't!" I shout when I suddenly feel the envelope being torn from my grasp.

"For me? You shouldn't have!" Castor laughs winking at me as he runs a circle around me. Before I can grab it back from him, he stops. "Who's Gale Hawthorne?"

"I don't know, now give it back."

"Can I still open it?" he asks his fingers already preparing for me to say yes.

"What? No!"

"Then why do you have it? It's not even yours, it has your mom's name on it," he says dropping it back into my hands and sitting down next to me.

"I found it." Castor raises his eyebrow. "I found this book on the top shelf of the closet, well I've seen it about one thousand times, but this morning I thought I'd get it down for you to borrow because it's about the History of Panem and I know you like that boring stuff." I pause to wrinkle my nose at him then continue, "and this fell out. I don't—"

"Wait," he interrupts stealing the envelope again. "You don't think it's thee Gale Hawthorne, do you?" When my only reply is a look of confusion, Castor explains further. "Gale Hawthorne was one of the main reasons that we won the Capitol War. He was a hero. You're mom must have met him when she was doing all that Mockingjay stuff."

I glare at him; he knows I hate talking about my mother's role in the War. He ignores me and starts inspecting the envelope. He holds it up to the light and squints. "Why can't I open it?"

"Because if my mother sees I have it and she knows it wasn't open before, she might get upset. She doesn't like talking about the past. I think it hurts her."

"It's so old. Maybe it's lost secrets about the War." He has that look in his eye. He's only partially listening to me. He always gets this way when someone talks about the War and fighting or anything like that. I slip the envelope out of his hand while he is distracted in his thoughts. "Are you going to ask her what's in it?"

"I don't know, Cas. I have a weird feeling about it." I answer when he sits back down next to me and starts pulling at the grass. There has never been anything romantic between us, despite what everyone seems to think, but I still allow myself to pull in close to Castor and rest my head on his shoulder.
