This is finally updated. To be honest, I almost forgot about it until a reviewer reminded me. This was a little hard to write since there were occasional blank spot for ideas. I don't know when you guys will be reading this, but is it just me or is there something wrong with the site? Like all of the stories are missing and the filters are missing the character category and the only way to actually get to a story is if you have a url to it.
Where's My Baby?
Midnight rolled in before Tsuna could realize it sooner. The brunet was leaning over the sink, pondering. He pondered and had been in a daze since the afternoon until now. He didn't move a single muscle when his thoughts carried him to a different world. He blinked his chocolate brown eyes as he looked around the kitchen. The lights were off and it seemed like everyone went to sleep. He sighed as he left the area to the bedroom.
As he passed Matthew's bedroom, he carefully peeked his head in. His unexpected motherly side wanted to make sure the baby was safe in his bed with his Uncle right near him. The brunet gave an awkward smile as he saw how Dino's body was spread out. The pillow was far against the wall and the blanket was laying on the floor, one edge on Dino's left leg. Tsuna tiptoed into the room and threw the blanket back on.
He took one last glance between Dino and Matthew and slipped through the small gap. Tsuna smiled happily as he closed the door and continued on to his shared bedroom.
He stood in front of the door with his hand on the doorknob.
"I thought you would have been sleeping by now."
Tsuna turned his head around. His father was standing behind him with one hand holding on a cup of coffee. The brunet scrunched up his nose in disgust when Iemitsu was only in his yellow briefs.
"I was thinking for a bit. Why are you up so late, Dad?"
"I was doing some grown up stuff. You'll understand when you're older, I guess."
Tsuna could only imagine it as lies to his ears. His thoughts went off again with his hold growing tighter on the doorknob. He couldn't help himself from thinking what his father was planning. Honestly, he would admit that his behavior hasn't been the best lately. He couldn't help himself. Matthew was suddenly a part of his messed up life and he couldn't tolerate the thought of something happening to the baby under his care. Iemitsu, his own father, was the very reason why his life was so screwed up.
"Dad… Why are you here? Really? Because it's hard for me to believe that Mom kicked you out of the cruise like that."
He had to make sure that harm wouldn't come to Matthew.
Iemitsu let out a heavy sigh and scratched his head. He had an expression on that seemed a little mixed with other emotions. It was hard for the brunet to tell what his father was thinking. His pale brown eyes were staring at his son head on. Tsuna stared right back.
"You're right, but… I'm not in any position to tell you why I'm here. You'll see soon enough." Iemitsu answered.
"You're not going to do anything that would put Matthew in danger, right? Because if you do… I swear—"
"I can't promise you that."
"Dad!" Tsuna screamed, silently.
Iemitsu kept staring at his son with an indifferent expression on his face. He saw it once upon a time. His dad was serious and there was nothing that could be done. Tsuna's knuckles went ghostly white from how tightly he was holding onto the doorknob. Spontaneously, Tsuna felt his body being forced backwards into a pair of arms now holding him. Bright brown eyes stared up to see a familiar smiling teenager. Tsuna pulled himself away, blushing.
"Oh, Yamamoto, sorry if I woke you up." He apologized.
"It's fine. I was waiting for you to be honest. So… What's going on out here?" Yamamoto asked.
"Nothing. My dad and I were just saying goodnight, right?"
"Yeah…" Iemitsu added.
Tsuna slipped through the small gap between Yamamoto and the doorframe. The Rain guardian had his eyes trail the retreating form into the room. His attention quickly went to Iemitsu, who was scratching his head. Yamamoto took a step forward. The older man stared down at his son's Rain guardian with an indifferent face. He noticed the dark tint in Yamamoto's amber eyes. He knew that Yamamoto was trying to make him cower with his usual smile. It almost seemed threatening.
"I won't lie that I don't know what's going on. But Tsuna is already under enough stress. I recommend not to start anything you can't finish."
"I'm fully aware that my son is feeling a little pressure. But I don't think a guardian should be running off and subtly threaten an External Advisor."
"I just want to let you know. Besides, I thought it was a guardian's duty to keep the boss safe."
Yamamoto returned back to the room as if nothing had happened. Iemitsu stood there for a minute before heading back to his bedroom. Honestly, he didn't want to do this as well.
The next morning, a loud scream was heard echoed throughout the Sawada residence. Tsuna was in a frenzy as he feverishly search for baby Matthew. His intuition was the reason why he was up and about. It felt like his whole body was in panic mode. That naturally made Tsuna want to visit Matthew. Now, he was running to every inch and corner to find his missing baby. Along the way, he noticed that his father was gone too.
"Dad!" Tsuna screamed.
Yamamoto and Dino were already in the living room. They were talking among themselves to see if there was any possible place Matthew could be at. It was already a known fact to them that the small baby is able to crawl on his own. But he wasn't tall enough to leave the house on his own. There was also the fact that Iemitsu, who mysteriously disappeared. Yamamoto watched Tsuna carefully. The brunet hadn't stopped since he woke up to their baby being missing.
The doorbell echoed. Dino offered himself to open the door while Yamamoto went to attend to Tsuna. The brunet finally stopped searching and sat down somewhere in the kitchen. Yamamoto went on his knees and hugged the frantic brunet. Tsuna didn't hesitate to lock his arms around Yamamoto's body. He frequently mumbled apologizes and blamed himself for all of this, tears pouring. Yamamoto couldn't help himself from blaming himself as well for not being as cautious. It really did feel like Matthew was their own child.
"Guys, come here! I think I might know where Matthew and Iemitsu is."
The two of them jumped up and ran to the living room. Dino had a DVD in his hand and played in the player while the other two sat somewhere near the TV. He turned on the TV and everyone could see Iemitsu. The older man stood in a rundown building with his suit on. Tsuna felt like he knew the place like it was the back of his hand. Though, he prayed that it wasn't the place he was thinking of. The recorded Iemitsu moved back further down the building. Tsuna jumped up when Matthew came into his vision. The innocent baby was still sleeping comfortably in his dad's arms.
"Dad!"
"I took the liberty of taking Matthew to an old acquaintance of yours. I'll make this short…"
There was a long pause.
"I will be handing over Matthew to Mukuro. If you want this baby back, you have to face him. This will be a trial for both you and your Rain guardian, Tsuna. If you fail, Matthew won't leave unharmed."
"He wouldn't…" Dino said, carefully.
"Tsuna, this is the best way to test your ability as a boss and see if you can keep your family safe. It's time for you to show me if you're ready for it all."
The TV turned black. All eyes were on Tsuna. Tsuna's eyes sharpened down to almost a deadly glare as it was aimed at the TV. Yamamoto stood up as he waited for an order from his boss. Dino did the same.
"It seems like we need to pay Mukuro a visit."
While the site fixes itself, I'm going to keep writing. Please leave something to help me reach Writing Town. I'm sure you guys want more updates right? Right?
