Chapter 32
Ziva knew that the honeymoon was going to be put on hold until after they were sure that no one was in immediate danger any longer. Ziva had to admit she was so grateful that her father had decided to stay and really spend some time getting to know Tony as she knew him, and seeing why his daughter had decided to marry a man like Tony DiNozzo. Ziva would use her maiden name, David, still at work, but she would either hyphen her name or use her new married last name for other things, she hadn't decided yet. Ziva knew that Tony was worried that he would never get her father to approve of him and it would affect their marriage and their future children, ones that they were both curious about having one day.
At the moment she and Tony were both at work, but she was getting to know her new team and she missed her old desk and her old team. She was glad that Vance had decided that her skill level being as high as it was, that he wanted to use her as part a new team he was thinking about having, a Special Operations Team of NCIS and it would be made up of some of his best and top NCIS operatives who were highly trained and able to handle themselves in very deadly and dangerous situations, ones that a normal agent wouldn't necessarily be trained for. There were just some things you couldn't train an agent to have or be able to do, and it was those things, the ones people were just born with or developed on their own, that made someone able to handle elite operations. Ziva knew that the new Spec Ops Team would be sent out of the country a little more than normal NCIS agents, but Vance had made it clear that he was going to rotate things and figure out a balance for those that had families and personal lives.
"So, Ziva, do you want to get a beer with us tonight?" Ricky, one of her new team mates, asked her as he looked her up and down.
Ziva could practically see his eyes popping out of his head and drool running down his chin, though those things weren't actually happening. "No, my father is in town since he came to walk me down the aisle and since I just married Tony, I think I need to make sure I spend as much time with my new husband as possible." Ziva said, hoping that she wasn't going to have a problem with Ricky at all, it would really suck if she had a problem with a brand new team mate on the first day of being on the new team.
"Hey, no flirting with fellow agents." Reese, their team leader and senior agent, said as he glared at Ricky and nodded at Ziva. "I've read your file and Vance and Gibbs have filled me in on everything, I am very aware of how lucky I am to have you on this team."
"Thank you sir." Ziva said, unsure what he would want her to call him so she stuck with the normal thing people said to their new bosses.
"Call me Reese, everyone else does." Reese said shaking his head. "All right everyone, we get to go see where we will be working out of."
"We aren't working out of the main offices here?" Ricky asked, arching an eyebrow. While the team was new as a Spec Ops Team, a lot of these agents had worked together before, and a few of the team members had actually been team mates with a different team, but this was a new team together and a new title and now, a new location.
"Nope, we get our own special location that is brand new and was specially built for a Spec Ops Team. There are specialized training things there where we are working out of and, yes folks, we will be able to relax, work out and do research on some of our cases or suspects or whatever we are going to be working on, there are some top of the line and state of the art computer systems and many other gadgets. Now we are getting to be able to use some new prototype weapons, like rifles or explosives and even some programs that haven't been approved or sold anywhere, so it's going to be like a holiday every day." Reese said, mindful of who Ziva was and not using any religious holiday refrences.
"Protoype weapons?" Paulie, one of the other team members, asked rubbing his hands together in excitement.
"We have access to one of two rifles made with specialized bullets and other things. The rifle goes to Ziva, she is our best shooter, in fact she is one of the best shots in NCIS altogether. She is going to be training on that rifle with the creator of it and learn all about within the next couple of days." Reese said as he smiled and nodded at Ziva who was currently the only female on the team.
Tony was trying to pay attention to the crime scene in front of him. They were all trying to just be normal, they were federal agents and they needed to be able to do their jobs, they needed to investigate crimes and get justice for those marines or Navy personnel who were unfortunate enough to be a victim of a crime, or stupid enough to be the suspect of one. Tony had heard from Tim and Abby all about the team that his wife was now assigned to and it had him worried, they weren't going to be working out of the secure NCIS building, he wasn't even sure where she was going to be working out of and he was concerned if her headquarters weren't on the base where the NCIS headquarters were.
"Tony, you know your wife can take care of herself, and it's only going to make her angry if you don't trust in that." Tim said as he arched an eyebrow.
Suddenly, before Tony could respond, a young woman wearing an NCIS jacket and hat and also a badge and gun while carrying gear, walked over to the two of them and smiled at them. Tony knew that Vance was looking for someone to take Ziva's place on their team, but he had thought that Gibbs would be the one choosing or at least that they would all get a vote and get to meet the candidates. Tony could see the calculating look in the female's eyes as she looked him up and down and Tony knew right away, Ziva wasn't going to like her at all.
"Hi there, I am your new team mate. My name is Special Agent Candace Lowe." She said as she held out her hand for them to shake.
"I am Special Agent Timothy McGee and this is Special Agent Tony DiNozzo." Tim said as he pointed at himself and then Tony after shaking the new agents hand.
"Hi, it's great to meet you both." She said as she then focused her eyes on Tony.
Tony made it a point then to make sure that he took off his gloves and let her see the wedding ring on his finger. He watched as Agent Lowe saw it, and then what he saw next bothered him, she seemed to only become more determined and it was those type of Agents that caused massive issues on teams. "You might want to check in with Gibbs." Tony said as he pointed towards Gibbs. When Agent Lowe headed that way, Tony made eye contact with Gibbs and knew that Gibbs understood the silent message Tony was sending.
Ziva was tired after getting to know her new team mates, looking around their new home base and all the places they would be working out for training purposes and where they would get to hang out. She had to admit she was extremely impressed by everything that she saw, but it was hard for her to know she wasn't supposed to let Tony come there to meet her or see the place without him getting cleared by both Vance and Reese ahead of time. Reese was going to give Ziva a ride back to the main headquarters, since she didn't have her car that day and she obviously couldn't have Tony come and get her. She had ridden to work with Tony, but now she would have to drive her own car while Tony drove his. She liked the place she was working out of, and she liked the fact that it was a casual environment and that no one wore suits or dressy outfits there, and it was better to wear combat type of boots, heavy duty ones like she had worn in the past. She remembered some of the old outfits she had worn before, the ones from her beginning days as a liaison officer and realized going back to her cargo pants might actually be more comfortable.
She had to admit it was going to be a lot of fun getting to do the things she had done in the past, only this time she was doing them with a highly skilled and trained American team. She had already told Tony to wait for her at the offices and as she waited for Reese to come out so that they could head back to the main base, she heard her phone chime that she had a new message. She smiled, thinking it was from Tony, and looked at her phone only to see that the number was blocked and whoever had sent it, wasn't someone she wanted to know her cell number.
The Message:
Ziva, you actually think that you stand a chance at being happy, ha that's laughable. You looked so cute at your wedding, so sweet in your first dress and then a little more revealing in your second one. It must have been nice to have your daddy walk you down the aisle. I still can't believe you married DiNozzo, but he won't be alive for long if I have anything to say about it and I will. I wonder if your new boss or team mates know that being around you can cause detriment to their lives and the lives of their families. Just so you know, it won't be long until things go my way and you will suffer, slow and painful deaths. I can't wait till you are forced to watch Tony die, and who knows, maybe by the time I can get my hands on you, you might already be expecting or have a little one running around, oh man I can imagine my plans for any babies you two might have together. It won't be long until we are together Ziva, not long at all.
End of Message.
He could see how pale she looked as she looked from her phone all around her. When he saw her new boss come out and see the message, he could tell that the boss was getting as pissed off as Gibbs used to get when he saw the message. Ziva and the new guy got into his car and drove off together. He was glad that there were more people for him to torment, it might he was going to get in a lot of practice for when it came time to make her pay, to make her and her new little husband suffer, oh she had no idea how badly he was going to make sure she suffered.
"Your time of pain is drawing closer, my little Ziva." He whispered in the wind.
