Timothy grabbed my arm before I could run towards Paul.

"Get her out of here Alan!" Timothy pushed me towards Man #2, who had gathered himself and was now watching the fight like we were.

He caught me readily and began towing me towards the house.

"Let go!" I shrieked, trying to pull away from him.

"He won't hurt 'im," Alan muttered.

He gave me to John, once we were close enough.

"I thought you boys weren't going to be back for weeks." Alan shrugged, glancing behind him. Paul and Man #1 were all but dots in the field. They'd gone further than the barn now. Timothy had disappeared too, a grey bear taking his place.

"We heard Tim was back, had to make sure he was alright." He smiled slightly at John. "Nice to see you again Johnny." I stared between them in shock. How could they be having such a casual conversation, when Paul was about to get mauled? He was clearly out numbered, there was no way he'd get out of that unscathed.

Freakin' bears. Who would pick a bear to shift into?

Sure, they were bigger and stronger. But wolves were quicker. We could get through the trees of a forest way better than any bear could.

Which is great, except there were no trees out here.

"Edwin!" The bear turned, giving me enough time to try and get at its legs. He roared when I made contact, rearing up on its hind legs.

Okay. Wolves couldn't do that.

He landed on paw with a sickening crunch. Great, now I couldn't run away.

I howled when another bear joined us.

Now this was just unfair.

They circled me slowly, and I tried to look like my paw was killing me. I could have taken the both of them, if they hadn't crippled me.

I growled when they stopped. It looked like they were both about to launch themselves at me. They amy have been older than me, but they clearly lacked experience when it came to fighting.

With almost identical roars, they both jumped at me.

So I ducked.

Kelly's dad and the other guy were lying to my left, both clutching their heads in agony.

I growled, standing up as tall as I could over them. There was no way my paw would heal properly after this.

"Okay kid, calm down. We weren't going to hurt you." I grunted in response, refusing to phase back. Like they could have actually hurt me.

"A wolf, wow. Haven't seen one of you lot in years." The guy that wasn't Kell's dad - Edwin? -stood up and stared at me in awe. I narrowed my eyes at him.

What did I look like? A freakin' statue?

"Leave him alone Ed." Kell's dad finally got off the ground, grabbing Edwin's arm.

"Yeah. Hey Tim, we gotta talk." Edwin looked at me pointedly. I growled, but turned around and ran back toward the house.

"Nice of you to give me a shout this time." Alan looked away. "Haven't heard a peep from either of you in years."

"Kelly, sweetie." Neala had appeared at the back door, Harry was watching from behind her. John let me go, and I walked past Neala into the kitchen.

"Kells?" I pulled out the seat next to Harry roughly, sitting down. "Is everything okay?" I forced myself to smile at him.

"Yeah. Paul's just…" My voice trailed off and my eyes wandered back towards the barn.

"Just what?" Harry poked my arm when I didn't respond.

"I'll be right back." I got up again, hoping John and Alan would be distracted enough not to notice me leaving.

I was about to walk out the front door, when it swung open.

"Paul?" He sighed, running his hand through his hair.

"I didn't bring an extra shirt." I almost laughed as I hugged him. I was sure that man would kill him. That, or Timothy would have sunk his claws into Paul's back. There was a cut across his cheek, and his arm looked to be in the early stages of healing, but otherwise he looked fine.

"Kelly." John and Alan had come inside. Alan was staring at Paul and I, looking very confused.

"So, is anyone going to explain what's going on?" Paul and I moved over as Timothy and man #1 appeared at the front door behind us. Neither of them looked to be hurt at all, much to my disappointment.

"Allow me." John spoke up, stepping forward. He gestured to the mystery men. "Kelly, Paul, these are my older brothers, Alan and Edwin."

"Your what?" The words were out of my mouth before I could stop myself. Alan and Edwin looked to be in their late twenties. Heck, they looked younger than me!

Alan clapped John on the shoulder.

"Yes m'am, we're your great uncles!" He smiled at me, but I could only stare back in shock. They had to have been adopted. But even that didn't make sense.

"I don't understand." I looked up at Paul, but he was glaring at Timothy. "Paul." His eyes snapped down to me.

"We don't…age Kelly."

"Sorry, repeat that?" I took a step away from Paul. "You don't age?" He nodded slowly. "How old are you then?" He glanced around us. I was perfectly aware of everyone else watching us, but this was important. I didn't care who was watching!

"Can we talk about this…later?" He tried to lower his voice, but he and I both knew almost everyone in that room could hear him.

"What? No, let's share ages!" Timothy smirked at Paul. "I'm 55. Ed?"

Edwin shrugged. "79." I looked at Alan.

"79!" I blinked. Twins. Well that did explain a lot.

"I'm 76, but I doubt anyone really cares." John laughed awkwardly. I looked back to Paul. He sighed.

"36." I nodded slowly. I was half expecting him to tell me he was one hundred.

"36," I repeated, deciding to drop the topic. He was only twenty years younger than my father, more than ten years older than me. It was weird to think about.

"Kell." I shook my head.

"Alan, or Edwin, or both of you. Why are you here?"

"I'd much prefer if you called me Uncle Alan…" We ignored him.

"We were supposed to be keeping an eye out for your father, but we lost him a couple weeks ago." Edwin shrugged. "Didn't think he'd come back here."

"Where else would I go?" Timothy said, looking directly at me.

"Okay, our turn." Alan frowned at Timothy, before looking at me. "Who's he?" He jabbed his thumb towards Paul, making him growl.

"This is Paul, he's my…"

"Imprint," Paul finished for me, glaring at Alan.

Alan whistled. "Now that's ironic."

"Shut it Alan." John and Edwin spoke at the same time. Alan put his hands up.

"My turn."

"We don't have to take turns," John started, glancing at Paul warily.

"Let her speak Johnny." Edwin interrupted him, nodding at me. "Continue." Edwin was clearly the more mature twin.

"You called me Eva." Edwin's gaze shifted from me to the floor. "You knew my mother?"

"Sure did, kiddo!" Alan smiled. "You look just like her. She would be so proud of you." Alan frowned at Paul. "Well, I don't think she'd be too happy about the whole imprinting thing…"

"Alan, please." John glared at his brother, stepping in front of him as I stepped in front of Paul. He was shaking again.

"How did you find him anyway? Didn't think anyone shifted into wolves anymore. They're kinda predictable."

"Tim!" John scolded. He stepped towards Timothy, looking conflicted. I dug my nails in Paul's arm, attempting to keep him beside me.

"You don't get to ask me questions," I reminded Timothy. "You shouldn't even get to speak to me."

"Kell?" Paul sounded confused. "What happened out there?" I shook my head.

"John, could we do this another time? Harry…" John nodded.

"Of course."

"Who's Harry?" Alan piped up again.

"Good grief Alan, could you just shut up?"

"Who died and put you in charge, Eddy?"

"Oy! If you're gonna fight, you'd better do it outside! We barely got your last mess cleaned up." John shoved Alan towards Edwin, before pushing them both out the door.

"You were always the boring one Johnny," Alan hollered from outside, before he was tackled by his twin.

"They're basically children." I nodded, looking away from John. Paul took my hand.

"We should go." I nodded again, agreeing with Paul.

"Right, of course. We'll see you later then?" I didn't look at John as Paul disappeared to get Harry. "Kelly?"

I took a deep breath, attempting to smile at my grandfather.

"Maybe," I answered finally, moving towards the door. Paul had come back, Harry and a box full of pastries in tow. "I really don't know."

John nodded. He seemed to somehow understand.

"Well, I hope to see you again, all of you." He glanced quickly at Paul. "I feel that there is still so much I have yet to explain."

"Come on Kell." Paul was half way out the door. I could see Harry wandering towards the street. Alan, Edwin and Timothy were no where to be seen.

I followed Paul outside, before turning toward the house again.

"You and Neala should come to La Push."

"Kelly," Paul was at my side in an instant. "What are you doing?"

I ignored Paul.

"That way you can learn something from us too, it's only fair." John nodded slowly.

"I'll think about it Kelly. Thank you." I smiled, turning to the street again. The cab had arrived.

"Kelly," Paul started as soon as the cab doors closed. "That wasn't your invitation to offer. Sam's gonna be pissed." I shrugged.

"What's done is done."
