So here's Chapter 3, I know a lot of people dislike Aiden always being in the way of our two girls but he's actually not so bad in this story. He might help these two become friends. Go Aiden! Also just cause I forgot to mention it on the last chapter I want to tell you that Yes Spencer has a job, she an Event/ Action photographer. Just go with it, it will be a little more relevant later on. Anyway don't forget to review and enjoy!
SPENCERS POV
It's been 16 days since I spoke with Ashley, I haven't even seen her. I suppose I should have known that shed stop her nightly shows after what happened. I mean I've seen ALL of her, the mystery was gone and her blinds were always closed now. Aiden's hours had become very crazy and I hadn't seen much of him, which in part was great. It had become easy to keep my secret when I didn't have to be around him all that often. He told me, he was going to try to be more present right after the summer was over. So we could get around planning our wedding. We didn't have a date set or anything, but my mother was thinking a spring wedding was best.
I had decided to continue with the relationship with Aiden. I'm starting to think that what happened with Ashley was my way of fulfilling my natural curiosity. I'm sure lots of girls have that need to be with a girl before they died or got married. I'm not the only one, there just no way. I know that is why lots of girls experiment in college. Women are gorgeous creatures.
Anyway, tonight Aiden and I were gonna have a date night. Which I was really looking forward to, I had wanted to get out of the house and leave TV alone for a while. I had built up a relationship with Netflix ever since my talk with Ashley and due to the fact I hadn't gotten a call about a job. So I was pretty bored most days
Aiden was gonna be home around 1pm and he said I should dress casual since we were only going for lunch at this little hole in wall Asian bistro he stumbled upon near my parents house. So I threw on a pair of dark jeans and a red V neck with my white high-top converse.
I was watching another episode of Greys Anatomy when Aiden came home.
"Hey babe, are you ready to go?" he said as he took his scrubs off
"Yeah Aid." I said as I paused the TV
"Ok let me take a quick shower and we will go, alright?"
As I waited on Aiden I saw his phone go off. It was my dad, odd. I picked up and said "Hello? Dad?"
"Hey Spence, did I dial you and not Aiden?"
"No dad, this is Aiden's phone, what's up?"
"I was wondering If your fiancé could do me a huge favor. Tomorrow is your grandmother's birthday and I wanted to surprise her by having her and your mother have a wonderful day at the spa this weekend since she is off Sunday anyway. Do you think Aiden could cover her this afternoon? Saturdays are crazy, but it would mean a lot to your grandmother"
How could I say no to that? My Grandmother is well in her 80's who knows how many birthdays we had left with her and although Aiden and I had plans this Saturday I figured, there would be many other Saturdays during our lifetime together. So, of course, I told my dad I'd talk to Aiden and tell him to do him this favor. I hung up with my dad and went into the bathroom to let Aiden know.
AIDENS POV
Spencer had just informed me that I had to go back to the hospital to cover for Paula. Arthur knew Paula wouldn't just let anyone take her shift. I had trained under Paula and I was the only one she felt comfortable enough to leave her patients with.
I just feel bad for Spencer, she had been lonely these past few weeks and I'm always at the hospital. She looked really excited for tonight; I just wish I could figure something out so that she wouldn't waste another Saturday in front of the TV and that's when it dawned on me. I just hope she wasn't busy tonight.
After I made the proper arrangements, I joined Spencer on the couch and we decided to have sandwiches and sweet tea for lunch and watch some TV before I headed to work at 4pm. Halfway through an episode of Law and Order: SVU, there was a knock on the door and I got up to answer it.
"Who is it Aiden?" she asked as I walked towards the door
"Hey Spence, so I know you've been pretty bored the past few days and tonight had sadly been ruined, so I decided to make a call" I said as I opened the door.
"Hey girl!"
"Oh my gosh! Chelsea! I thought you were still in Chicago visiting your parents, when did you get back?!" She said jumping off the couch and pulling Chelsea into a hug
"I actually got back yesterday morning I ran into Aiden here at Starbucks a few blocks from the hospital with your mom" she said as she gestured to me
"Babe, so I know I said I was gonna take you to lunch but I actually scored tickets to a concert tonight, front row. I wanted to surprise you" I said as I looked for the tickets in my bag
"Tickets? To what Aiden?" asked Spencer
"I'm not quite sure, Ashley gave them to me as a 'thank you' for helping her move in" I said as I found them at the bottom of my bag
"You spoke to Ashley? When?" asked Spencer with an odd look on her face.
"I ran into her taking out her trash last week early one morning, and we got to talking and she gave them to me saying she had extra tickets."
"That's nice of her Spencer" said Chelsea as took the tickets from me and read the name "New Medicine? Never heard of 'em have you Spence?"
"No, never"
"Ashley said they play rock and their shows are really fun. I figured we could check 'em out at least."
SPENCERS POV
I grabbed my cream colored hoodie and we took Chelsea's car down to the venue, it was a 40 minute drive, so during that time we decided to catch up and stuff. Chelsea had married my brother Clay 3 years ago and they were trying to have a baby. Clay was trying to save as much money as possible, so he was working as an accountant to get them ready for the baby. Chelsea was working as an art teacher at the local high school. Chelsea was always very gifted when it came to art. Her sketches were amazing and she was an even greater sculptor, but she knew realistically that art was a hard career to lift off the ground.
She had just begun asking me about my wedding plans with Aiden when we arrived to the venue. It was packed, I wasn't sure that we were going to be able to find a spot, when I saw a young guy with a valet vest holding a sign that read "Chelsea Carlin-Lewis". I looked at her and asked "Do you know what that's about?"
"Not a clue, girl"
"Ms Carlin-Lewis?" the young guy said when we pulled up next to him.
"Yeah that's me, how do you know who I am?"
"Ms Davies has arranged for me, to valet your car free of charge" he said as he opened the car door for Chelsea. "She also said that these wrist bands will allow you to drink for free during the concert." He handed her 2 bright blue paper wristbands
"Ashley?" I asked in disbelief
"Yes, ma'am" he said as he opened the car door for me and helped me out.
"Damn girl, Ashley must have connections; do you think I will get to meet her to say thanks for the hook up?"
"I'm not sure Chels"
We grabbed our drinks at the bar before we took out seats and waited for the show to start. We were seated on an elevated platform to the right of the stage above the young teens who seemed squished together like sardines. There were only about 8 other seats available, a few photographers sat a seat away from Chelsea. I guess these seats were normally for VIP's. I also saw a pretty brunette that sort of looked like Ashley sitting behind me in a grey blazer.
She saw me look at her and said "Hey I'm Kyla Woods, you must be Ashley's special guests, right? She said as she stuck out her hand.
Chelsea wasted no time shook her hand and said "That would be us, I'm Chelsea and this is Spencer. You wouldn't happen to know if Ashley would be joining us? I'd like to thank her for these amazing seats and the Valet service outside.
"I'm not sure, I think the guys might not let her tonight"
"What do you mean? I asked
Before she could answer the opening bands took the stage and all she said was "Enjoy the show" before disappearing backstage.
ASHLEY'S POV
It was finally coming together, this was New Medicines last show of their national tour. Jake and the boys had asked me to come to their last show to prove to her that I had made the right choice in signing them. I couldn't say no to them, they are my most successful band and my favorite "children"; even though we are roughly the same age.
As I enjoyed the last few songs of the opening band I saw Jake approach me
"Hey there boss man" he joked
"Hey, you guys ready for this last show? Your openers are just about to finish."
"Come on, of course we are ready; the guys are just getting the instruments together. I just came by 'cause Kyla wanted me to tell you that your guests are here and that they were very thankful for their tickets and whatnot. Hoping they would get to see you before the show ended. Go watch us from the VIP section."
"You sure?"
"Of course"
"Ok. Have a good show alright? Bring the house down"
"Don't we always?"
I headed toward the platform and immediately saw Spencer drinking and laughing with a dark skinned girl next to her. That must be the in-law Aiden texted me about I thought to myself. I took a seat behind them and said "Are you ladies having a good time?"
Both girls turned to me and before they could speak I asked "So you must be Chelsea right?"
"Yeah that's me and can I assume by your attire that your Raife Davies daughter, Ashley?
I looked down at my black Purple Venom T-Shirt, equally black jeans and my burgundy vans. I smiled and asked "What gave me away?"
I looked at Spencer and said "Hey Spencer, it's been a while"
"He..hey Ashley, it has. Um…thanks for the ..um the tickets" she stuttered out.
"Yeah thanks girl, the valet service was wonderful" Chelsea added as she sipped on her fizzy drink.
"No problem" I told them
I turned around and gave Kelly, the bartender, a look and she just nodded. She was gonna bring me my usual beer.
"So Ashley, what can you tell us about this band, we've never heard of them before?"
I saw that the stage crew finishing up setting the stage and the guys would be up any minute. I simply said " I don't know, how about you guys tell me your thoughts after the show?"
And with that they heard the beginning of the guys opener and the steady roar of the crowd.
Yeah
You can keep your motherfucking politics
You punk ass boardroom piece of shit
Yeah
Cause my music is a name for your three piece suit
It's for angry kids up in the mosh pit dude
He said as he pointed to the teens in crowd under us, who had begun recording them on their cell phones. Typical. I saw him look at me and continue…
Fuck it
We are breaking the model
We are bringing the new wave
You can't stop us cause you can't keep up
We're straight breaking the model, breaking the model
SPENCERS POV
After almost an hour, I had realized that New Medicine was actually quite good. I could tell the guys were having a blast up on stage and Chelsea was having a nice time rocking out, I think she might have had one too many drinks. Every now and again I would steal glances at Ashley who was sitting right behind me, all nonchalant. To be honest, it was driving me up the wall! We hooked up and she acted as if nothing had ever happened. I was having a harder time containing myself with her so close.
I shifted my attention to the stage where the lead singer, Jake, was talking to the crowd telling them this was their last song and that they had a special treat for the crowd after this.
"What are they talking about Ashley?" I heard Chelsea say
"I don't have the slightest clue Chelsea, which worries me. These boys have gotten my curiosity peaked."
The song had begun, I listened to their lyrics and I could feel my face getting hot. I could tell I was blushing like crazy and all I could think was 'Of course they would close with a song like this'
….Hey, let's take our clothes off
Now I'm going down on you, proving what I want is true
Let me show you what it's like when you ain't afraid to fly
To hell with all them girls cause you know upon my world
I couldn't tell you why but I'm yours until I die
Now with Chelsea here I had to control myself. She knew me way too well, and she would know something was up. I was able to play it off and hide my face, until I heard Ashley's voice as she sang along to the final chorus…. that BITCH!
In the middle of the night, when I dream of getting you
Grab my hairs going crazy thinking what I'd do to you
I'd rip off all your clothes as I'm breaking down the door
I'd make you beg for more as I pin you to the floor
Cause you'd be screaming oh, oh, oh
Baby don't stop, no no, no no
We can fire up the night
Make me feel alive
Fire up the night
Fire up the night
Fire up the night!
The crowd erupted in applause including Chelsea. I stood up as well and applauded as I looked at Ashley. She had a smirk on her face, locking eyes with me briefly, before she looked up at the stage. She just blatantly replayed our night together in my head as she sang along with the band. She knew it had got me all hot and bothered, due to my rosy cheeks and my wide eyes.
The lead singer thanked the crowd and although he was slightly out of breath he said "Now we have a very special treat coming up in just a moment, but first I wanted to thank the woman who made this all possible by giving us a shot at stardom. Ms Ashley Davies, who is here joining us tonight, let's give her a round of applause"
The crowd exploded with cheers and praise towards the brunette.
"So since I know she is gonna put up a fight when I say this," He turned his attention to Ashley and continued "I was hoping that you would join me and the guys to bring this house down. Let's give her some encouragement."The lead guitarist began chanting "Ashley, Ashley, Ashley" and soon enough the crowd began to chant her name as well.
I heard Ashley say "Fuck it", stood up, downing the last of her Newcastle and disappeared behind the black curtains as the crowd cheered her on.
Chelsea got all excited and I gave her a look. She simply said "She's Raife Davies daughter, you don't think she inherited JUST Raife Davies good looks now do you?"
I saw Ashley get up onstage and get handed a microphone by the lead singer, who got playfully pushed by the feisty brunette. She then said to the crowd "I can't believe I'm doing this, but I suppose if I am singing it's only proper if I pay a tribute to my dad. I'm not sure if you all know this, but he wrote this song for me when I was still a little girl. Boys will you back me up. I know you know what song I'm talking about?" she said as she looked around the stage who all gave her approving nods.
I watched her intently wondering what song she was talking about and before I knew it, a familiar tune began to play. I heard Ashley's distinctive voice as she took center stage, all the while Jake had began to clap his hands over his head to the music to push the crowd to do the same.
Little girl
You like it loud
Come alive in the middle of a crowd
You wanna scream
You wanna shout
Get excited when the lights go down
At the rock show
You'll be right in the front row
Heart and soul, they both know
It's where you gotta be
She said as she pointed to the teens who were hanging on her every word
Little girl, there you are
All the lighters looking just like stars
Sing along, feel the sound
Take a ride on the hands of the crowd
She continued to sing as she began jumping up and down losing herself momentarily as she soaked in the music
Here it comes, the moment when
You know you'll never be the same again
Power chord, see the light
You found your place in the world tonight
At the rock show
You'll be right in the front row
Heart and soul, they both know
It's where we gotta be
Yeah at the rock show
Getting high on the solo
So what if it's crazy?
That's gonna be me
[Solo]
During the solo, she played air guitar alongside the lead guitarist. I had never seen her so sure of herself like this. Performing was in her blood. Chelsea was right; she inherited her father's stage presence. She made the stage her bitch with almost no effort
This goes out to anyone one
Whose heart beats like a kick drum
When a bitchin' riff comes
Knows the words to every line, every time
And you know you gotta go get some, get pumped
Find yourself and lose it
At the rock show
She came to the side of the stage where Chelsea and I were singing along like two groupies to the last chorus.
I'm looking at the front row
Heart and soul, we both know
It's where we gotta be
Yeah at the rock show
We're reaching for the high notes
So what if we're crazy?
You're coming with me
You're coming with me
You're coming with me
So what if it's crazy?
It's where we gotta be
At the rock show
As soon as the song ended the crowd lost it and she got the applause from the band members as well. The crowd was chanting for an encore, one they weren't gonna get. Which was something I didn't understand, if she was this good and she seemed to love every second of it….why didn't she follow her father's footsteps?
And there you have it. How was that? I do apologize for the wait. I'm having a trouble putting the songs together in the story, but I do have a direction, Im just having a little trouble getting there. As for the other band, New Medicine opened for Halestorm where I saw Lzzy Hale in all her glory. I figured a small feature was in order.
