Chapter 7 – The Fallout

Integra leapt up and pulled clothes from nothingness as she knelt before her sovereign. "Majesty, I did what I though was necessary in order to identify the traitors and destroy all threats to the kingdom." Integra kept her eyes lowered and hoped that the queen accepted her feeble excuse. She briefly glanced back at Alucard, "Clothe yourself."

Alucard for his part watched in amusement from his place on the cot. The Queen glared him but he noticed the appreciative glint that briefly crossed her face. "See anything you like, Majesty?"

"Creature, clothe yourself at once, how dare you remain in such a state of disarray before me. Obey your master's commands immediately." She huffed at his still smirking face, "It is unseemly that you should even address me so casually." Integra glanced back over her shoulder again and silently pleaded, "Please Alucard…."

"Stand up Integra, the monarchy holds no sway over you any longer. You are a No life King, a law unto yourself. You are not bound by human society any longer…just as I am no longer bound to the Hellsing Family." Alucard stood from the small cot and pulled on his familiar garb. He glared at the Queen, "Perhaps you do not realize that between the two of us, we could wipe out the entire city of London if we so choose…" he paused and meaningfully added, "Majesty."

"Nonsense! Sir Hellsing, despite her unfortunate condition, is still a knight of the realm and honor bound to protect the monarchy as long as she lives." The Queen looked sharply at Alucard, "Creature, did you not tell your master that her confinement was to be ended today?"

Integra gasped and whirled to glare at Alucard. "I am afraid that bit of information slipped my mind. But since you have so graciously informed Miss Hellsing that she is free, we will take ourselves off to find more accommodating quarters for the day."

"Alucard… you…. You….. black hearted monster…."

"Careful Miss Hellsing, calling me names is much like the pot calling the kettle black." He grinned toothily at the Queen as he grasped Integra by her upper arm. "Some other time perhaps, your majesty? It is really past our bedtime." He warped space around them and a few moments later Integra found herself in the basement of her own home.

Alucard braced himself as Integra staggered against his frame. He grinned down at her as she hastily jerked away from his side. Warping space was definitely a skill that took some getting used to. He watched her carefully as she took a few steps from his side, allowing her senses to adjust. "4…..3…..2…..." he mentally counted to himself as Integra whirled back in his direction.

"Just what in the Bloody Hell did the queen mean by, 'I was supposed to be released'?" Integra snapped. Her eyes narrowed in frustration as she continued, "DID you know I was going to be released from the Tower?"

Alucard looked at her, visibly impressed at the magnificent monster she had made. Never had he encountered another like her in his many lifetimes. He continued to stare at her in silence over the rims of his shades, waiting to see how long it took her to lose her patience with him. After several minutes of silent contemplation, he gave a long suffering sigh. He pulled the glasses from his eyes and tossed them aside. Bracing himself for her reaction, he gave her a one word answer, "Yes."

Integra stood silently, a chilling numbness settling in her bones. She stared at the vampire before her, looking at him with her new eyes. Without the spell in place that held him in sway to her family, she could feel the power that radiated from his being. She had always known there was real power locked away in him. She had found herself increasingly attracted to him at the years went by, but now… It was if she were seeing him for the first time. She sighed more to herself than anything. Looking him dead in the eyes, she asked a simple question, "Why?"

Out of all the reactions he was anticipating, this was not one of them. Alucard opened his mouth to answer but stopped as Integra held up a hand, "The truth, if you please, Alucard." He supposed he owed her that much and was not sure she was going to like it. "My freedom…" He quickly held up a hand as she gasped in outrage. "Let me finish, Integra before you throw a temper tantrum. I wanted my freedom above all things, but I also wanted you." He smiled at her widened eyes. "You may speak."

Integra flickered, vanished, and reappeared right in front of his eyes. He barely registered the speed of her movements before a small hand cracked against his cheek and his head whipped to the side. "You Bloody Fool," she rasped out before taking a step back. er nostrils flared briefly as the scent of blood filled the room.

She cried out harshly as the realization of all she had lost came to mind. There would be no more sunrises, no more noon luncheons with high ranking military officials, no afternoon teas with the queen, nor would there even be her favorite foods or drinks. She wept openly for everything she had lost.

Alucard watched in fascination as she wept the blood red tears. It was the first time he had ever known Integra to experience an emotional breakdown in front of anyone. She sobbed uncontrollably for several minutes as he watched. He glanced at the tall grandfather clock nearby and sighed audibly, "Really, Miss Hellsing, do you intend to stand there and weep like a petulant child all day or are you ready to cease that infernal noise and seek rest for the day?"

Integra's head snapped up and she just glared at him. Her mouth flew open but before she could hurl any insults in his direction, the door to the chamber flew open, admitting the two people neither of them were prepared to see.

Walter and Seras stood silently in the open doorway, a combination of shock, disbelief, and disappointment etched on their faces. Walter felt a tear slide down his cheek as he recognized the tell-tale traits of vampirism settling on his employer's face. Her blood red eyes widened as they met his and he couldn't help but feel he had betrayed Richard Hellsing's last order of protecting Integra from harm. He stood stiffly as Integra flew across the room to stand before him. "Sir Hellsing, I am not quite sure I know what to say to address this current state of affairs."

Integra looked coldly at him for a moment, hearing his heart beat, seeing and smelling the blood as it coursed just under his skin. She retreated a quick step backwards, not trusting herself in such close proximity to a living human as yet. "Walter, there is nothing to say. What is done is done. There is no going back and we must proceed along this path for now." She looked over at Seras before continuing, "There are simply 3 vampires at the Organization's disposal now. We should be able to make more headway with our investigations in the future."

During the short conversation, Seras stood silently, mouth agape and eyes wide, as she beheld the new Integra. She quickly realized that Sir Hellsing had taken the Master's blood and had become a No Life King. Seras felt the sudden rise of jealously as she realized that the Master would have no more than a passing interest in her now that Integra was one of them. "Sir Integra," she began lamely…

"Calm yourself Seras Victoria. Nothing will change other than my sleeping and dining habits. I am still Sir Hellsing; I am still in charge of this organization. You will still take orders as before. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Sir."

Alucard watched in amusement as Integra dealt with her underlings in her usual efficient manner. He noted the brief disappointment that flashed in the police girl's eyes as she realized what Integra had become. It didn't matter anyway. He wasn't interested in a kitten when he now had a full grown tigress at his side. "Seras, leave us. This is Sir Hellsing's first dawn and she must prepare for her rest." Alucard then turned to Walter, "Is there a chamber available for Sir Hellsing?"

Walter had not previously taken note of Alucard, but as he turned to face the ancient prince, he noticed the white gloves, the symbols of his bondage, were gone from Alucard's hands. "How….?" Walter looked nervously from Alucard to Integra and took another step back as Alucard shot him a sharp toothed grin. "Something amiss, of Angel of Death?" He laughed cheekily at his own comment as Integra glared at him. "Walter, take no note of Alucard. He is no longer bound to the family, but he will behave unless he wants to find himself out on the streets."

"Miss Hellsing, you wound me terribly with your lack of compassion to this currently unemployed servant."

Seras and Walter shot each other a quick glance but offered no further comment. As they turned to go, Integra gave orders for Walter to awaken her by 4pm and have some blood warmed and served in her tea cup. "Just because I find myself in this position, there is no need to not carry on proper British traditions." Walter swallowed a smile then exited the room, closing the door behind him.

Integra listened closely, waiting to hear retreating footsteps before rounding on Alucard again, "I am not sure I want to sleep there." She stated as she gestured toward the modified bed/coffin. I don't want to be trapped inside that box no matter how comfortable it may look." She chewed on her bottom lip thoughtfully before continuing, "I think I will go upstairs to my room and my own bed."

Alucard sighed, "Integra, stop and think for a moment. You are a new vampire even though you possess tremendous power." He walked toward her and placed both hands on her shoulders, looking down into her ruby eyes, "The sun streams into your room. Do you really want to become a pile of ashes before even really learning what this life offers?"

Integra bit her lip again, suddenly unsure of herself, "I don't like this feeling helplessness. I don't feel as if I have total control of the situation." She paced the room, wall to wall, before stopping in front of him. "I don't want to be like this."

Alucard shrugged out of his heavy overcoat, took off his shades and hat, and threw the lot onto a nearby chair. "Giving up so soon, Miss Hellsing? I thought you were made of sterner stuff than the police girl?" Integra hissed in his face, "Do not compare me with her. I am strong. I have always had to be strong. I took the blood when she wouldn't dare."

"Exactly my point, Integra. You are the strong one. You are the brave one. You have always been destined to become a No Life King such as myself. You have the fire and the passion that Lucy, Mina, and Seras that they never possessed." He punctuated his words with a series of kisses along her lips, jaw, and down her neck as he led her toward the bed. He sat on the edge and pulled Integra across his lap, kissing her all the while.

Integra offered no protest, liking the soft feel of his lips and the rising heat of passion in her core. She tugged at the buttons of her shirt, and flipped his long hair away from his neck. She placed several soft kissed along his jugular before finding the right spot and let her teeth slid into the vein, drinking his blood again. Alucard moaned slightly at the gentle intrusion, his arms tightening around her slip body as she ground herself against his lap. "Integra, be a love and let me make love to you this time, slow and easy, before we fall into the day sleep."

Integra drew back from his neck and crawled into the center of the large bed, her clothing disappearing into nothingness. She reclined against a stack of pillows and held out a slim white hand, "What are you waiting for…?"

Alucard grinned slightly as he quickly joined her. This was going much better than expected. He had a fine new companion, his freedom, and the entire world before him. Nothing could possibly go wrong.

To Be Continued…..

To my readers and reviewers: I want to thank you for your continued support over the years as I have left this work unfinished. When it began, my life was not as hectic and fast paced as it has become. The demands of being a full time single mother, teacher, caregiver to a disabled child and older patents, left me little time for myself but I dusted off this chapter and have set a goal to have this work finished by the end of the summer. Thanks again for all your support.

Love and Peace,

Lady Blackhat
