Chapter Twenty-nine
Poetry in Motion
"The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire." Sharon Ralls Lemon
Ariston teleported us to a large grassy plane. I heard the whinny of horses and looked around in wonder, witnessing thousands of horses roaming the open landscape. Some ran together in herds, others played and some itched each other, chewing on the others back on the curve after the whither, to get that one spot rolling always missed.
"Oh my gods." I whispered.
Every color and pattern imaginable on a horse was there. There were some that shimmered gold and some silver. Bay's, flea bitten grays, buckskins, appaloosas; some were even pink or blue or green. It was unreal, like a dream.
"Mera, Ariston." Poseidon greeted us warmly.
"Uncle." Ariston greeted.
"Grandfather." I said.
"Call me uncle. You will be Ariston's bride soon." He said.
"Very well, uncle." I said with a smile.
"What do you think of my herds?" Poseidon asked.
"They are extraordinary." I breathed.
"You can thank Ennina for their creation." He told me, his eyes far away as he surveyed the landscape. "They were created for her.
"One is yours. A present from your grandfather and soon to be uncle." He smiled.
I through my arms around his neck and hugged him.
"Thank you, uncle." He was surprised for a moment then he hugged me back lightly.
I pulled away.
"She does that where horses are concerned." Ariston said and we all laughed as I blushed.
"You are very welcome niece." Poseidon replied.
I let go and looked at the horses.
"How do I choose?" I asked, still in some state of shocked joy.
"You will know, you will feel it." Poseidon told me. "I designed them to be that way, for a horse to connect with its true owner, especially for immortals and gods."
I set out and walked among the horses, a few of them sniffed me and I stroked them but I did not feel a connection. I looked around as I walked through the sea of horses. Some of them had a bit of a temper while others came up to meet me. I was beginning to wonder how long it would take when I felt a slight tug. I looked up onto a hill where the tug was coming from.
The mare stood at the top of that hill at the exact spot I was pulled towards; she was breathtakingly beautiful. She was muscular but in a sleek way, her black coat shined in the sun, her long silver wavy mane and tail blew in the wind, but the most striking thing about her were her eyes; they were blue, an extremely rare thing for a horse. The mare looked at me and reared, shaking her head about, her main trailing after her. She cantered down the hill right towards me but I stood my ground; no part of me was afraid. I have had horses bigger than her run straight for me when I was half the size I am now, and have not shed away. She was around 16.2 hands; a perfect size for me. She slowed to a trot when she was ten feet away from me. I stood perfectly still as she circled me.
She came to stand in front of me again. I bent down and grabbed a handful of grass, never taking my eyes off hers, then held the palm full out to her. She reached her muzzle out and ate it, her ears forward. I let her sniff my hand and then stroked her neck; her coat was soft, almost slippery. I went back to look into her eyes.
What is your name? I thought to her.
In my mind I saw the moon at its apex, while at the same time still seeing the mare before me, and felt the word in my mind.
"Luna." I said, Latin for moon. She nodded her head. I placed my hand to my chest. "Mera." I said. She nodded again and I smiled.
May I ride you? I asked her, thinking of an image of myself riding her. This time she did not nod, but I felt her response within me. If you can. I could almost feel her grin.
"We are going to get right along, Luna." I told her with a smile of my own, going to stand beside her swooping back.
I placed my hand on her withers; my right hand went to her back. I jumped up with ease and swung my leg over landing on her back perfectly. She felt wonderful, as if we had been tailored to each other.
I held onto her main and squeezed with my legs. Luna went into a smooth canter right away. She had the same grace as Vrontos, and she was just as fast I soon found out. I laughed, the wind blowing through my hair as we galloped, that profound feeling of freedom and exhilaration coursing through me. I saw a two and half-foot log off to the left and steered her towards it; she jumped it with ease and I laughed in delight. She threw her head around once, agreeing with my laughter.
We went off into the woods, galloping through hills and dales and even a shallow river. We jumped countless jumps of every size. We shared a mind; it seemed that Luna and I were already bonded. I thought left, and she went left. I thought jump, and she jumped. It was incredible! Twenty minutes after we entered the woods, we came back and cantered to where Ariston and Poseidon were watching with smiles on their faces. I stopped in front of them and looked to Poseidon, leaning down to stroke her neck.
"She is the one." I said with a great smile on my face.
"That I can see." My uncle replied. I got off her back and patted her neck.
"Thank you again, uncle! I have always wanted a horse of my own." I thanked him sincerely.
"You are very welcome, niece. Take good care of her." He said. I was unsure if he said the last part to me or to the horse. I smiled and nodded as my eyes inevitably drifted to my future husband.
"Duty calls," Poseidon said, and we looked to him. "I wish I could visit with you longer. You will both have to come for a visit sometime."
"We would love to." I told him.
"Wonderful!" He said. "Mera, Ariston." He bowed his head to us once and we bid him goodbye.
A moment later Poseidon was gone. Ariston walked up to the mare and let her sniff his hand. She seemed to like him.
"My own horse." I shook my head in amazement.
"The only reason I have not given you a horse already is that I knew that my uncle would want to gift you with one." Ariston told me with a smile and I laughed. "You look perfect on her."
"Where are we going to keep her?" I asked.
"The Royal Stables." He said. "Come."
He put one arm around me and placed a hand on Luna's neck, the horse did not shy away from his touch. He brought all three of us into another field; at the bottom of a hill was a huge stable, easily three times the size of Blueridge Stables, not to mention the second story. The barn, like most else on Olympus, was made of white gold veined marble. There were accents of wood and different colored stone along with statures of gods and goddess on the roofs.
Luna looked at me and I felt her request, I saw a herd of horses, she wanted to find them and join them until I had need of her. I nodded and sent feelings of approval along with the image she showed me of the herd. She took off at a canter.
"We will need to get you tack." Ariston said. "It will not take long if you wish to do so now."
"Alright, but afterwards I want to speak with Prince Alexander." I told Ariston. He sighed and nodded.
Tack shopping was extremely enjoyable; buying things for Luna and for myself thrilled me to no end! I purchased my very own English saddle that was easily one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. The leather was a rich burgundy that was trimmed in chestnut, with the stirrup leathers being that same chestnut color. The stirrup irons were cast from gold in decadent scrollwork climbing up their sides.
I also bought a bridal of the same dark leather and scrollwork as the saddle, the bit was gold and the brow band was tastefully studded with sapphires. We also ordered blankets and coolers, in lavender and sky blue, two of my favorite colors.
"I was thinking that perhaps we could bring Luna and Vrontos to Pescadero with us." Ariston suggested.
"How would we do that?" I asked.
"Put our horses in the trailer and teleport right outside of town, then drive to your parents home." He said.
"That is a wonderful idea; I will talk to them about it." I said and kissed the beautiful god before me, not being able to resist.
"Are you certain you want to speak with Alexander today?" Ariston asked.
"Yes." I told him.
He sighed and teleported us into a receptionist office. The style of the room was an elegant mixture of wealth, stoic military colors and power. The front desk commanded attention, as did the woman sitting behind it with copper hair.
"May I help you?" She asked politely.
"We are here to see the Lord Commander." Ariston said.
"Whom may I say is calling?" She asked.
"Ariston Son of Zeus, and Mera, Descendant of the Twelve and of Pandora." Ariston announced.
"Oh, of course, go right in. The prince has been expecting you my lady, and you, my lord." She said with a bow of her head.
We said our thanks and went though the door on the right. Alexander, such a mixture of his mother Ennina and his father Cronus, sat behind the desk and smiled up at us, his sky blue eyes shinning.
"Ah, Mera, Ariston. How good to see you both." He greeted and rose from his desk.
"And you, Prince Alexander." I greeted as he kissed my hand.
"It is good to see you as well, nephew." Ariston greeted as he shook Alexander's hand.
I could feel Ariston's emotion and I placed a hand on his shoulder discreetly.
"I take it you are here to join the army?" Alexander asked.
"I am." I answered.
"Come." He said. "See what you are joining."
Ariston and I followed him out onto the balcony; it overlooked miles of training grounds. I looked down on the Descendants as they trained. Many were fighting, training with every weapon imaginable while others trained with nothing but their bare hands. I smiled, for this, just as much as a life with Ariston, is where I belong.
"If not sanctioned by the proper authority, no Descendant goes into the field on a mission without at least a years training." He said. "Training begins an hour after day break and ends at a quarter past noon. For the morning they train with weapons that differ each day, wood to start with, then steel, then adamantine. After lunch they are taught philosophy and the history of gods and men, in order to give them a better understanding of what they will be facing and how to deal with it." I only had one question.
"How soon can I begin?" I asked, excitement in my voice and soul.
"Tomorrow, if you like." Alexander said.
"Ennina," I began when I realized that he would know who she was. "Your mother and father offered to train me on the days they have off."
"That will work." He assured me. "It is your choice when you come and train, however, if you wish to be ready, I would recommend that you come as often as you are able."
"I shall." I said.
"Tomorrow then" Alexander said and we followed him inside as he looked down at an enormous book on his desk. "Ah perfect. Your friend Aaron's squad is down a member, does that suit you?"
"That is perfect."
"Your uniform will be sent over. I take it housing is not a problem?" He asked.
"Mera will be living with me." Ariston said.
"Very well, that is that." Alexander said with a smile.
We said our goodbyes and Ariston teleported us to the meadow in front of our home.
"Did you see them?" I asked excitedly. "How they fought, how they worked together, how skilled they were even though some were younger than I am!"
I looked at Ariston with a smile that died down when I saw what he was feeling; it was then, as my excitement died down, that I felt the depth of his emotions. He was split; half of him loved seeing me so happy, the other half dreaded this, knowing where this path would take me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his arms wrapped around my waist as I rested my forehead against his.
"Ariston, you already know I am going to come for you if something happens to you. Would you not rather I were trained when I do so?" I asked. He sighed and nodded.
"You are right, I just," He began
"I know, my love." I said softly. "This is not dangerous. I am not going on missions. I am simply training. You know I am safe."
"For now." He said, and I felt how those two words haunted him.
"Now is what counts. I must join the army even if it is only for training purposes." I told him.
"You know I cannot live without you." Ariston whispered, his fingers gripping me tighter to him. "I will not survive."
"Nor I you. Which is why I must do this. It may soon be my turn to keep you safe, and I will not fail at that. I cannot fail." I told him, he smiled. "Please try and understand this, put yourself in my shoes."
"I would look rather ridiculous in high heels." Ariston said and we laughed.
"I cannot live without your smile either." I told him. "I need your smile and your joy and love like I need air. It would really help me if you would stop being so miserable all the time." I told him jokingly, a smile on my lips.
"You are right once again," Ariston said, taking a deep breath. "I am being a foolish weakling, not the god you deserve. I will be strong, for you." He promised.
I smiled and kissed him. We walked towards our home hand in hand. There was a big gift box on our porch. I walked up and looked at the note.
"Mera Vandenberg, Descendant of the Twelve and Pandora." I read. "From Prince Alexander, Lord Commander of the Army of Descendants." I opened the box, inside was white, neatly folded clothing.
"It is your training uniform." Ariston said.
On the folded sweatshirt were Greek letters in gold. ΑΩΣΔΡ Alpha, Omega, Sigma, Delta, Rho. I smiled.
"That is the identity of your unit. Every unit consist of ten descendants and every unit has their LID, Letters of Identification." Ariston explained.
I picked up the box and went to our bedroom. Ariston lounged on our bed as I stripped down and changed into the new clothing. There was a racer back yoga/running shirt with a good built in bra, not one of those flimsy ones that do nothing. Skintight yoga pants were next then there were socks and what looked like a modern version of combat boots that were also white and extremely comfortable. Everything was white and had the LID in gold on it somewhere. On the pants it was down the side of the leg; on the shirt it was a few inches above my chest and to the left.
The sweatshirt was last. Everything fit perfectly and was extremely comfortable and easy to move in.
"How do I look?" I asked Ariston.
"Beautiful as always." He said.
I smiled and went to look at myself in the mirror in my dressing room. I liked how I looked. Ariston walked up behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist and held me close. I smiled and relaxed against his body by instinct as I placed my arms over his.
"This changes nothing between us." I told him. "I still love you more than anything and want to be your wife and have a family with you."
"I am happy to hear that." He said with a smile. "It does suit you." He admitted, speaking of the clothing. Ariston kissed my right temple.
"Thank you, my love." I replied. I saw Ariston's smile widen in the mirror.
"What is it?" I asked.
"The renovations are finished." Ariston said.
"Let's see." I said, excitedly taking his hand.
We checked the bedrooms first; they were just the way I envisioned them, two of cool colors, two of warm colors and the last two of shades of blues and greens. It was amazing. I saw at the end of the hall way a staircase I have never seen before; it had a ribbon tied around it.
"Ariston?" I asked, knowing his work. He sighed.
"I was going to save this for your birthday but I could not wait. So now it is an early birthday gift." He told me. Scissors appeared in his hand. "Would you do the honors?"
I smiled and took them out of his hand, cutting the ribbon and handing them back to Ariston before ascending the staircase. Ariston ran in front of me and I laughed, knowing he wanted to see my reaction. I gasped when I reached the top of the stairs. Before me was a long glass room that overlooked the view of the Aegean. The glass walls were folded back in panels and curtains of white cloud silk blew in the soft, crisp autumn breeze. My eyes were watery as I looked around.
"An art studio?" I asked.
He nodded. I was astounded! There were two easels, more paint than I knew what to do with, and every brush, pencil and artist tool known to mortals and gods. There was a potter's wheel, a spinning wheel and even a glass blowing station. In this long glass room there was every imaginable craft, and even a comfortable place to sit and draw.
"I thought you would enjoy a space to yourself and that perhaps you would want to try your hand at other crafts. If there is anything I missed, please let me know." He said. I shook my head and turned to him. I ran into his arms and kissed him.
"I have always wanted a room like this and you out did everything I imagined, as you always do." I told him. "I love you."
"I love you, my Mera." He said and kissed me again. "Do you want to go see the living room and kitchen?" I nodded and we practically ran down the stairs.
The living room was stunning. I chose to have no drapery, so as not to hide the view of the three-story window. The sunken living room now had a huge area rug in the center of the room. The walls were now a beautiful red, the portrait of Ariston and his wife and family still hung over the huge fireplace. Couches the color of gold sat in front of the fireplace and off to its sides. Pillows of a rich, dark purple decorated the sofa, loveseat and even the two sitting chairs. There was enough room left over that on the other side of the living room set, we put in a pool table of beautifully carved wood.
We smiled to each other, then made our way towards our new kitchen. We both gasped when we took it in. The cabinets were white with dark wood trim and ample and innovative storage. The countertops were blue marble vined with silver and the handles for the cabinets and pulls for the drawers are the same blue marble with silver. The stainless steal appliances were top of the line and were sleek and yet old fashioned and the fridge and freezer had glass doors with ornate handles. A long island sat in the center with a six-burner cooktop, and bar stools under the raised lip of the island counter. Lights, with shades of blown blue glass hung above the island. In the corner there is a breakfast nook with teal cushions. Off to the right of the kitchen, through an opening that led to a balcony that overlooked the Aegean Sea, was a table for two made out of gold-vined marble base with a glass top and comfortable dining chairs.
The kitchen was light, bright and open and yet cozy all at the same time. It was perfect and just begging to be cooked in.
"How do you feel about eating in tonight?" I asked Ariston. His wide, crooked smile was all the answer I needed.
"I will go get changed out of these. Do not start without me." I told him.
He laughed but agreed and we kissed a few times before I could tear myself away from the unbelievably sexy god. I changed into a somewhat simple knee length dress and came running back down stairs.
"We should invite Kallisto over to christen the renovations with its first meal." I said.
"That is a wonderful idea." Ariston said, then paused and smiled. "She will be over in ten minutes… she wants to know if she can bring Aaron with her." Ariston said with surprise. I smiled and laughed.
"Of course she can." I told him.
"Is there something going on between the two of them?" Ariston asked after answering Kallisto.
"I believe there is, or there could be." I admitted. "I see the look on their faces when they mention each other. I will be interested to see them in each others presence." I watched him cook.
"Would you simmer this while I get a good bottle of wine from the wine cellar?" He asked.
"We have a wine cellar?" I asked as I laughed in delight at the idea of it.
"Oh yes, and quite a selection." Ariston replied with a wide grin. "The bottles have been down there for well over two thousands years, so they should be good and aged by now." We laughed. Ariston kissed my neck as I simmered, and then left the room. I laughed breathlessly.
Kallisto and Aaron arrived a moment later. Aaron wore blue slacks with a crisp white button down while Kallisto was stunning in a pure white pencil skirt and a yellow blouse that hung off one shoulder. They looked beautiful together, and my hopes could not have been better met.
"Hello Kallisto, Aaron." I went and gave them a hug.
Ariston returned shortly after and greeted his daughter and Aaron, then poured us all a glass of wine. Kallisto and Aaron sat next to each other on the bar stools with the wine glasses before them; they did not touch, but their eyes did. I took a sip of my wine as Ariston and I cooked; the notes of lavender and rose gave it a very earthy, flowery taste. Ariston used a bit of said wine to marinade the stake, but not too much.
I peeked over as Ariston was engaged in conversation with his daughter. Aaron was looking at the glass of wine as if it was some sort of test; this made me realize he had not had a single sip as of yet.
"Aaron, it is alright. You can drink. You are not going to get in trouble." I said with a laugh. He took a sip.
"Have you ever had alcohol before?" Kallisto asked Aaron. After two years with him, I knew the answer before he spoke. He had never taken so much as a sip of spiked punch at a party, and prided himself on that fact.
"No." Aaron admitted.
"Then this truly is an occasion," Kallisto said with a smile and raised her glass. "To your first glass of wine. I must admit there is no finer wine to start on."
"I hope you have a higher alcohol tolerance than I do." I told Aaron and Ariston laughed.
"On our first date I gave her a glass of wine, just one glass of wine that was not even close to being strong, and by the first two sips of her second glass she was giggling uncontrollably." Ariston said.
"I have not drunk more than two thirds of a glass since." I said, raising my glass and sipping my wine. We all laughed.
"When is this from?" Kallisto asked her father.
"637bc." Ariston answered his daughter.
"Wasn't that when..?" She began and then she and her father finished the sentence in unison. "Dionysus went through his peace phase." They laughed.
"Every now and then, my brother will become obsessed with a certain fruit and try to make every different kind of wine with it." Ariston explained. "This was one of the few bottles Dionysus made that was from grapes that year; it was all peaches, peaches, peaches that time. Although he has gone though many other phases."
"Such as his first bottle of lemon/lime wine?" Kallisto said. She and her father both shuttered as if they had just taken a great big bite of the fruit and we all laughed.
"You would not be laughing if you had drank it." Kallisto said with a smile. "Dionysus believes that no bottle of wine should be opened if there is not at least one other person to share it with, and so he throws parties when he creates something new." Kallisto said. "He can make the most extraordinary vintages, but ever now and then something like that happens."
"That was not one of his best ideas." Ariston agreed.
Hearing about the wine brought back a memory, not of odd wine, but of my mothers cooking. I met Aaron's eyes and laughed/
"Do you remember when we visited my parents for spring break last year?" I asked. He laughed.
"The banana bread." Aaron said and we laughed. Ariston and Kallisto were looking at us curiously.
"My mother does not know the difference between baking soda and flour and my father was out of the house." I told them.
"Besides how it looked, imagine tasting it! We took one bite and could not even keep it in our mouths to be polite." Aaron finished and we chuckled.
"I guess you were not joking about your mothers cooking " Ariston said with a laugh.
I was just finishing up the apple and pear pie to put in the oven, when the steaks, loaded baked potatoes and green beans were done. Ariston prepared our plates and carried two over to the breakfast nook. Aaron snatched up the other two while Kallisto and I got the wine. Ariston and I sat on one side and Kallisto and Aaron on the other.
"Now this is a steak." Aaron said on the first bite.
"Thank you." Ariston said. We talked and laughed some more as we ate.
"Aaron." Ariston said with a smile, wiping the corners of his mouth while Aaron's eye widened.
"Yes?" Aaron responded.
"As Kallisto's father, I must ask. Are you two courting?" Ariston asked. Aaron and Kallisto smiled to each other.
"For now we are just getting to know each other, but I do care for her." Aaron said.
Kallisto smiled, he face taking on a lovely golden glow, the blush of the gods, as she looked into Aaron's sage green eyes.
"And I him." She said softly, as if the words were meant for Aaron alone.
"Am I supposed to get your permission?" Aaron asked Ariston.
"A few thousands years ago the answer would have been yes." Ariston said. "But this is the twenty-first century after all and Kallisto is a grown woman. The only permission you need is hers." Aaron and Kallisto smiled to each other. "Marriage, on the other hand, is another matter."
Kallisto and Aaron both looked away, somewhat embarrassed by the word, neither ready to begin to think of such things or what each other wants at this point. I looked at each other and I laughed.
"Nice tact." I stated, he looked abashed.
"She is my daughter." He kindly stated and then looked back to those two. "I realize it is early for such talk, but I thought you should know if you two should choose that." Things were very quite and I had to laugh.
"So." I said loudly. "I will be joining your unit in the morning Aaron."
"Really?" He asked, obviously thankful for the change of topic. I inclined my head. "It will be good to have you."
"Aaron," Ariston said, then swallowed his bite and looked Aaron in the eyes, his voice more serious than before. "Mera told me that she informed you she is sharing my abilities. It is very important that you do not share that information with anyone or speaks of it to her around others. I would not want that to be whispered into the wrong ear."
"The wrong ear?" Aaron asked, confused.
"How much do you know about the Descendants of Pandora?" He asked, his face serious.
"Only that they were all killed by the Nameless One." Aaron answered.
"Not all of her Descendants were killed, only the ones whom the gene was active within. The more powerful the Descendant, the faster he tracks them down. Mera is powerful on her own, and now that she is sharing my abilities, she is the greatest threat against the Nameless One since Pandora." Ariston explained.
"I am going to make Mera's fate different from that of her predecessors, but I have to be smart about how I, how we go about it." Ariston said, looking deep into Aaron's eyes. "Can I trust you with this?"
"Yes." Aaron said at once, without question, without hesitation. "I would do anything to protect Mera. My lips are sealed."
Just like that the tension was broken as Ariston smiled. We had just finished our dinners.
"Who is up for a game of pool?" I asked in my own desperation to forget such things.
"You have a pool table?" Aaron asked.
"We just got it today." I told him.
"I'm in." Aaron said.
Kallisto and Ariston quickly agreed and we went in the living room with the wine and played two against two. The thing was, that between Kallisto and Ariston, whoever got the ball first won, since they could calculate each move precisely, and quite a few times they sunk each of their balls on the first shot alone.
Ariston went to get the pie as we began the fifteenth game and brought us each a slice with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream on top. It was the perfect dessert.
"You two should come to my birthday dinner at my parents." I said to them.
"Isn't that for family?" Kallisto asked.
"I will soon be married to your father; you are family, Kallisto. And Aaron you know you are family; my father has always liked you." I encouraged them.
They looked at each other again, one of those sweet looks that warmed my heart. I glanced at Ariston, our eyes meeting and our smiles growing.
"We will be there." Aaron said, then his features took on a strange look. "You know what? I just realized that I am dating my ex-girlfriends stepdaughter. How strange is that."
We all laughed and Aaron joined in.
"Stranger things have happened." Kallisto said, with a raise of her eyebrows while raising the glass to her lips. Aaron and I simultaneously looked at her. "Just wait a year. You will not believe the things you will find out about the Immortals; remember that you are on Olympus now."
I finished off my first glass and Aaron finished his. We seemed to be none the worse for it. Ariston held up the bottle as an offer.
"What the heck, it is a party and I am among those I love. Pour me another glass, my love." I said.
"Hell, I'm in." Aaron said and Ariston filled his glass after mine.
After we finished eating dessert, we played some more pool, all of us laughing and feeling wonderfully tipsy. The rest of the night was wonderful, I got to three glasses without tripping over my own feet and Aaron was doing just as well, though we were both red faced and laughing. Later on, we said our goodbyes and Ariston gave Aaron a flask of nectar to drink so that he would not have a hang over in the morning.
Ariston and I helped each other up the stairs. It was immortal wine, and so he was as drunk as I was, which was comical to see.
"That was fun. We should do this more often." I said.
"Get drunk?" He asked. I laughed.
"Get the family together." I said.
"The family," Ariston said with a smile. "I like the sound of that."
We laughed and made our way to our bedroom. We kissed and kissed and kissed, our hands groping each other as we pulled at what was left of each others clothing. I stopped kissing him when we got to our bedroom and gave him a playfully serious look.
"Am I supposed to be the noble one now and refuse you because you are drunk?" I asked, playfully starting to turn away.
"Oh come here you." He all but growled. It was an incredibly sexy sound.
He put an arm around my waist and pulled me to him. I laughed as he leaned down and kissed me deeply.
"No objections?" I asked. He shook his head.
"None." He whispered and kissed me again, passionately with sweet abandon…
