Leaving Again
A melon suddenly flies towards a large gate, crashing into it, spilling all the melon pieces, along with some other splattered melon pieces.
"Wow...that's another touchdown for you, Mom." Ming remarked as she laid on her club while Mulan took a step back to give Ming or Shang their turn.
"Well, I doubt I could bet you and your father's score." Mulan said a little doubtfully.
"My turn," Shang said, moving over to his spot and getting into position to hit the melon, "You two would not believe how much stress I've been getting at the council lately."
"Well, fire away, Baba." Ming said with a gesture that said 'go ahead'.
Shang took a deep breath before yelling out, "I can't believe that Chi-Fu said that I'm not training the new recruits hard enough, even though I didn't fall asleep for a week training them!" Then hitting the melon, sending it towards the gates.
Ming whistled, "Remind me to add that to my list of trying to find good reasons to hit the Old Goat." She commented, which makes her parents laugh.
"Well, I think I can handle Chi-Fu for a few more weeks Ming..." Shang joked, patting his daughter's shoulder as Ming took her spot.
Ming took a deep breath before screaming, "I can't believe those princesses broke their promise to me about not giving me anymore makeovers, also with the fact that those princes used my favorite bow as their kite!" Before she hit that melon, sending it flying.
Just as that happen, the gates open, revealing an older looking Chi-Fu walking through shouting "General Shang!" Just before the melon hit him in the head.
The Li family gasped seeing Chi-Fu covered in melon pieces, but while Mulan and Shang quickly hide their clubs behind their backs, Ming just burst out into a laughing fit.
"I see you two still didn't teach your daughter some manners." Chi-Fu said, as he whipped of the melon juice with a napkin, "Exactly what is this?" He gesture to the pile of melons and the club in Ming's hand.
"Oh...just some...family tradition..." Mulan said innocently, while Shang tried to signal Ming to stop laughing.
"Yes, a most dishonorable way of tradition." Chi-Fu said disrespectfully, now that made Ming stop laughing.
"Hey!" She yelled out, point her club at him., "You don't talk to my mother like that."
"And may I remind you, little girl, to know your place." Chi-Fu said, that made Ming almost hit him if Shang hadn't grabbed her club.
"Ming!" He scowled, while Ming just slumped and took a step back.
"What do you want now, Chi-Fu?" Shang asked, sighing tiredly. He knows that the Emperor's council man is the last person Ming wants to see.
"It's not what I want, it's what the Emperor wants," Chi-Fu began, before taking out a notice, opening it pompously, "According to him, the scout troops that were sent to spy on the left over Hun camps were killed in battle," At that, Ming suddenly became interested since she was at first ignoring Chi-Fu, "And he wants you and your, army, to go and take their place on spying on the Huns." Chi-Fu finished, after adding the distaste tone on 'army'.
"You can't suspect him to just go now!" Ming began, already feeling her limit is about to get cross with Chi-Fu, "I mean, he just got back!"
"He knows his place, girl." Chi-Fu said with a disgust tone as bent his head down a little to be at Ming's level, even though she was only shorter than him by 7 inches, "And I think it's about you learn yours."
That really put Ming on her boiling point, then she pointed her club deathly close to his face as he bent away from it, "I will use this." She warned.
"Ming!" Both Mulan and Shang scowled as they moved her away from Chi-Fu(Though they don't personally mind Ming beating him up) and Shang went up to Chi-Fu.
"When does the Emperor want to see me?" He asked.
"As soon as possible." Chi-Fu said straight forwardly.
"I'll be there then." Shang said, which makes Ming looked up at him shocked.
"What!?" She nearly screeched as she walked up to her father, having her arms moving frantically around, "B-But you just back!"
"Well, I'll let you sort out your daughter problems." Chi-Fu said smugly as he walked away while the Li family just glared at him.
"Ming, we know you hate Chi-Fu but," Mulan started, but Ming cut her off.
"You mean to tell me that you're okay with this?!" She blurted out.
"Ming, you know as well as we do that it's my duty to serve the Emperor." Shang said sternly, but Ming just shook her head.
"If you two are so into duty, then why did you both to decide to have me?" She asked a bit coldly, before stomping away from her parents.
"Ming...!" Mulan started to go after her, but Shang stopped her.
"Let me," Shang said, while Mulan was relented, but she let him walked over to Ming, who sitting on a sturdy tree branch of with her hood over her eyes.
Shang climbed up the tree and sat down next to her, but Ming just turned her head away from him.
"You know, Ming," Shang started, "When I was your age, I used to react the same way when my father went to served the Emperor." That made Ming looked up at him.
"But, I know what I learned," Shang continued while smiling at his daughter, "I learned that I can't stop him, but just hope for him, and knowing you, everything turns out alright." He nudge his daughter at the elbow, which makes her smile a bit.
"Dad, do really want to leave us?" Ming asked, moving her hood back and swiping her loose bang back, but it just returned to it's position.
"No," Shang answered admittedly, "But I also want to keep you both safe, and going out there is the only way."
"I just wish we didn't have to live in a world like this." Ming mumbled, playing with her hair a bit.
"Well, in a perfect world, we would." Shang said lightheartedly, which made Ming smiled bit.
"Ming," Shang began, scooting a bit closer, "How about I make you a deal? As soon as I get back, I promise you, I won't accept any other Emperor calls, and we could go out on a family outing."
"Really?" Ming asked a bit hopeful.
"Really," Shang said, before taking off his Yin necklace and putting it on her, "Hold this for me until I return?" Ming nodded, before the two of them wrapped each other in a hug.
"I love you, Baba." Ming said.
"I Love you too, my Little Soldier." Shang said, as he kissed his daughter's forehead.
Before hopping down and went to get ready for his journey.
Ming just sighed, before taking out her bow, she soon cradle it, along with a part of her cape and her father's necklace. The three gifts her father gave her, which she would never let them leave her sight.
Author's Note: To be honest, Ming's sad reaction would be like what I would probably act if my dad decide to stay in the Marines. I guess even people can inspired themselves without knowing. Please leave a review!
