Stepping into this area they called "Dinoland" was a completely different experience from walking around the rest of the Animal Kingdom. Elsewhere you could pretend you were visiting a faraway land, but here…well, felt sort of like a festival, but not one of any particular culture. The main building was marked by an enormous statue of what she assumed to be a dinosaur standing by its entrance. Everything else was a bit underwhelming in comparison. Not that it was difficult to spot, with how colorful it was. But none of it was quite as grand.

So naturally, they both wished to try out the main attraction first. "Why don't you go check out long the wait time is?" Elsa asked her sister, while she kept an eye out for places to eat dinner later.

"Right!" It didn't take much looking to see that the line was already very long. So long that it traveled outside the doors. But maybe it moved fast? She looked at the sign. "A whole hour?!" They couldn't wait that long! Well, maybe Elsa could, but certainly not Anna. And besides, it was almost dinnertime; they'd get hungry. She ran back to tell Elsa the news.

"I see," she nodded, thinking. "Well, why don't we go ahead and grab a Fastpass for it? And we can try out some of these smaller rides in the meantime."

"Sounds good to me!" Thankfully the wait for those looked a lot shorter. Wait, the Fastpass line was pretty long, too. Better snag one before they ran out. Anna sprinted to claim her place in line.

Elsa wiped the sweat from her forehead. Wow, it was 4 o'clock and still this hot? The last couple days they'd gone back to their inn early, so she didn't really experience prolonged exposure to the heat. But on a full day like this… When summer came in Arendelle, the sun wore her out quickly. But this was something else. She found herself dozing off as she waited, and tried hard to shake it off.

Finally, her sister came back. "Here we go. Five thirty. That should give us enough plenty of time for rides."

Ah, that worked out really well, she thought as she pocketed her ticket. Certainly they wouldn't have to worry about rushing things. Now there was only one thing left to decide… "I picked the last one, so you get to pick our next ride," she told Anna."

Great! "Okay! Let's see…" That one looked like the Dumbo ride. But she already rode Dumbo. Why would they make two of the same ride? No, she wanted to try something different… The games looked fun, too, but those could wait until later. Wait! What in the world was that?

"I wanna try that one!" she exclaimed, pointing to a coaster right across.

Elsa hesitated. It was definitely a roller coaster, and she hadn't had great experiences with those…but it looked to be a smaller one. She could probably handle it. Probably.

"Okay. Your choice," she shrugged. Getting their spot in line, the wait time ended up being twenty minutes. Longer than expected, but they could find ways to keep themselves entertained. Anna especially was good at that.

"Hey, Hey, Elsa." She tapped her sister's shoulder. "Look at that kid with the funny hat."

It didn't take long to spot what she was indicating. It was a hat that looked like Goofy, but the visor was his muzzle and the teeth hung from the brim. Actually, it was a little unsettling if you thought to hard about it. Like Goofy's lower jaw was cut off.

"Can I get one of those hats later?" she asked

"I don't see why not." Her sister always had the strangest tastes in fashion. "But what would you do with it after we left? There's no way you could wear something like that at home."

"Really?" She seemed disappointed. "Why not?"

"Princess generally don't wear funny hats," she answered calmly.

"But why not?"

"Because it's…just silly!" Why did she always want to do something so ridiculous? In public, no less! She knew it would get people talking, and not in a good way.

"Hm. Well, it's a princess' job to make people smile, isn't it? I'm sure that would get someone to laugh," she argued. And what was better than getting people to laugh?

She let out an exasperated sigh. "Yes, you must keep your people happy, just…not in that way."

"Why not?"

"Anna, think about it! You want them to take you seriously when you need to be serious, right? But then the only thing they'll be able to picture when you're talking is that stupid hat."

"Ah-" She wanted to argue back, but…was that really true? "Hm…" She'd had problems with how Arendelle saw her before. But wasn't everything okay now? Why did people have to be so unreasonable?

"Oh, here we are."

They were just a few steps away from the loading station now. Wait, those cars were spinning. Wouldn't that be uncomfortable? Elsa couldn't imagine she'd walk off this ride with a steady stomach. But at least they'd made the decision to eat dinner after and not before.

With some reluctance, she stepped into the seat closest to her, and Anna in the seat across. There was really no refined way to board one of these… She felt like an oaf every time she had to take that leap from dock to vehicle. At least she wasn't wearing one of her ice dresses. In particular the one with the long slit up the side… Now THAT would be embarrassing.

And their little car made its way up the first hill. Elsa couldn't completely hide her dread as the top grew ever closer.

Anna pat her sister's shoulder. "Relax, Elsa. Look at all the little kids on this thing! I'm sure it's not that BA-"

They made sharp turn after sharp turn, gradually speeding up with each one. Both sisters' braids flew every which way, and even after only a few their hair looked like a mess. She had to admit, at least the hills were small. But everything happened so fast! You never had time to prepare yourself for the next curve!

And at last, they arrived back at the loading dock. "Aww, is it already over?" Anna whined.

"Already over?" That felt like forever to Elsa… Well, either way, it was over now. Thank goodness. No mirrors anywhere nearby, but she tried to straighten out her hair as best as she could as they walked back out into the park.

"Dinosaurs sure are funny," Anna laughed.

She shook her head, but smiled. "I'm sure that wasn't what they really looked like. And definitely not what they acted like. Just…an artistic representation."

"Oh." She guessed that made sense. Most the other animals looked so strange around here, too. Boy, would it be weird to see one of those walk by! "Then what did they really look like?"

"Nobody knows for sure. We can only guess from fossils." Though it sure seemed like they knew a lot more in this time period, as should be expected. But she knew these people could actually go back in time…to some extent. Had they actually seen these beasts for themselves? "Although if I had to guess," she continued, "I suppose they would look something like that."

She gestured to the dinosaur statue they'd passed earlier. If there were more displays like that in the building…it was getting harder to wait and see. But they still had another half hour until their Fastpasses were valid.

"You want to try this other ride now?" she asked, looking at the flying…what were they? Pterosaurs? Something along those lines.

"Hmm…nah." Didn't look any better the second time. "Isn't it around dinnertime?"

"I guess it is, but we're gonna want longer than half an hour to eat. And waiting in line will add time to that." She wasn't hungry right now anyway; she could stand to wait a little longer. "Are you getting hungry? Did you want a snack?"

"No, I'm fine." Anna was always hungry, but that didn't mean she couldn't hold out. She stopped in her tracks, looking to get a full view of everything that was available to do around them. "Oh! I know! Why don't we play some games?"

"Festival games, huh? I suppose that's fine." She couldn't remember the last time she'd played a festival game…or been to a festival at all. When she was seven, maybe? And she wasn't any good at them back then, either. "Y-You can play on your own. I think I'll just watch."

Really? Elsa was backing out already? "Aww, but it's more fun if we play together."

"Well…" It was kind of shady of her to forfeit just because she knew she wouldn't win, wasn't it? "I guess just one game should be fine."

"Yay!" Anna grabbed a ball from the kiosk before the person at the counter could even say anything. Might as well just enjoy it while she had to, Elsa decided as she was handed her own.

Seven games later, Anna had accumulated quite the collection of prizes. There were so many and they were so big that she could hardly see in front of her as she struggled to carry them. Well…at least Elsa had won one thing. It wasn't as big and fluffy as her sister's plushes, but she was happy with it all the same.

"Mmbpbmf!" Anna attempted to shout through her pile of plush.

Elsa chuckled, taking the one that blocked her face. "You could've asked me to carry some of those for you."

"Sorry. Uh, is it time for our Fastpass now?" she smiled.

"Actually, I believe it is!" Or to be more accurate, it was a good fifteen minutes past their time. If they hadn't been so occupied, they could've got a head start. But it wasn't a big deal. "Speaking of which, what are you going to do with all of those when we get on the ride?"

She suddenly stopped. That was a really good question… "Uh, I haven't planned that far ahead," she admitted.

What exactly would help in his situation? "A bag would be a good place to start," she remarked. And with her ice, she quickly weaved a simple tote bag, placing the plush she'd taken at the bottom.

Wow! Amazing! Elsa's creativity never failed to impress her. "That's a great idea!" She went ahead and stuffed the rest on top. The material was actually stretchy, too! How on earth did she do that?

Just as they anticipated, more artifacts related to the dinosaurs and their relatives were shown prominently once they got inside. Paintings, bones, even more sculptures. A voiceover narrated what they saw in each room. Now, Elsa wasn't particularly interested in fossils or natural history. And Anna just didn't like science in general. But both did find it kind of fun, to imagine what it might be like to be in the middle of that strange time period…

Finally, they came to a room where a message was delivered to them via video screen. Apparently they really were going back in time to see dinosaurs! Wait, for real? Wouldn't that be dangerous? Some of those dinosaurs were meat eaters, after all. And…this guy wanted to bring one along to the future? Was he nuts?!

"Ooh, maybe the little ones would make cute pets," Anna suggested.

"I really don't think so." And what was this about a meteor? She'd never read about that in any of her studies. "Are these going to be real dinosaurs, or…"

"It's hard to tell with this place, isn't it?" The doors to the loading room opened, and Elsa was forced to shrug off her doubts and move on ahead.

At the very least, these seats were a little more comfortable than what they'd been on last. But that video of the ride sure did make it look rough.

Anna noticed her concern. "Els, if you don't wanna ride this, we can leave right now."

"No, no. We've already made it this far. Might as well go through with it." It had to be safe, right? Nobody else around here looked too worried. She was just overreacting. These things were built to entertain, not to hurt anyone. If she found herself running into trouble, it wouldn't be from a ride. At least, she hoped so.

And suddenly, they were off. Flashing red lights overwhelmed them both, so that Elsa had to close her eyes initially. But when she opened them, she found that indeed, they'd been transported to something that looked similar to a jungle.

At least they were progressing pretty slowly. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Hey, that dinosaur looked pretty friendly! Oh…oh god, what was that? Was that one eating… Augh! Another thing to add to the list of things she definitely did NOT need to see this week.

And then the car sped up. Both sisters were bounced and thrashed around to the point where it felt like they could be flung out of their seats at any moment. Wasn't the point of this trip to see dinosaurs? Anna wondered. You couldn't see them at all going at this speed.

Oh, wait…there was one. It was HUGE! A roar in their face showed of its countless sharp teeth. Definitely a carnivore. Why did they stop! Come on, floor it again!

As they hit every bump possible on the path ahead, Elsa didn't notice she was slowly covering the interior of the car with ice. Anna attempted to hold on to her sister's arm to steady her. Yikes! Cold skin! Still, she held on tight anyway. Anything for Elsa.

And it went on like that for a while, getting no more than a passing glance of whatever dinosaur they happened to ride by, struggling to stay both in one place and in one piece, and when they finally got the idea to tighten their seatbelts, being painfully constricted with each bump they hit. Wasn't this ride supposed to be fun? It was really too uncomfortable to be any "fun"… Not to mention this asteroid they kept bringing up. Was it really going to it? Or would they try to simulate it hitting? What on earth might that feel like? Not at all pleasant, if the rest of the experience was anything to go by.

Wait…what was that noise? It couldn't be… No! Not that dinosaur again! Even Anna screamed on reflex. But maybe there wasn't anything to worry about. Lots of people rode this thing before them and lots more were going to ride it after, and none of them were coming out of it hurt, right? But then…she heard a scream next to her. "Elsa?!"

"S-Something just touched me!" Elsa cried out.

Really? Maybe she'd just bumped into the car walls. "I'm sure it's fine, Elsa," she smiled, trying her best to comfort her. "The dinosaurs aren't gonna hurt you. They won't let them."

But as she pat her sister's shoulder, she noticed her being pulled back hard. "Whoa!" Was it shadows again? No…what was it she saw there? Those were dino claws, weren't they?! Something was really fishy here.

"No! I won't let you take her!" Taking her sister's wrists in a death grip, she pulled in the opposite direction as hard as she could. Her arms felt freezing as she fought - maybe pulling Elsa like this caused her some pain. But the other option would be ten times worse. She pushed the consequences to the back of her mind, just continuing to pull as much as possible.

And just when she thought she was succeeding…Elsa was practically flung out of the edge of the car, disappearing into the darkness. "Elsa!" She had to save her, no matter what! Even as the vehicle sped forward, she quickly undid her seatbelt and hopped backwards beside the path. She could hear someone over the intercom telling her to get back in her seat for her safety, but she didn't care. There were more important matters at hand.

Now where could this dinosaur be? …Ugh, what was that smell?! Had to be dino breath. Following such a potent odor wasn't too hard. And it wasn't especially difficult to spot the thing, either. Even the tail was almost as wide as she was tall. The towering beast had the queen in its grasp, and Elsa seemed at a loss of what to do. But wanting so badly to keep her sister safe, Anna couldn't bring herself to be afraid.

"Hey! You!" The dino didn't pay much attention to one extra voice, but when the princess clung onto its tail, that managed to distract it. Just as Anna had hoped - it dropped Elsa and went straight for her instead. "Anna?!" God, she couldn't forgive herself if this thing hurt her sister…

But its tail was so long, and the carnataur arms were so short, it couldn't possibly reach that distance. It spent a long time just running around in circles, chasing its tail like a dog would. Even if she wasn't in immediate danger of being eaten, Elsa had to be extra alert to avoid being stomped under those giant scaly feet.

Anna found herself breaking into giggles as she was spun around and around. It actually worked! She couldn't believe a plan of hers actually worked for once! But she guessed this couldn't go on forever; she'd have to find some way to injure it. Too bad she didn't have any weapons on hand… Oh, but she had teeth! Mustering up as much strength as she could, she clamped her chompers down against the tail's rough skin.

The dino groaned a bit, but it didn't seem to do much damage. This stuff was really tougher than it looked. And tasted terrible! But she didn't let go; maybe if she just held down long enough, she'd break through eventually? It wasn't like she had anything else she could use.

Unfortunately, the carnataur started to shake its tail violently, and eventually she couldn't hold on anymore. She was tossed across the tropical trees and slammed into the wall. Oh…this night sky was painted on? And the meteors, too… Well, that was one less threat to worry about.

However, that also meant that the carnataur could legitimately chase after her no. Oh, crud… Now she didn't have anything to defend herself with. All she could think to do was run! And she ran and ran for what felt like ages; she must have crossed through the whole ride again. And then she bumped into the wall again. What? Dead end?! No, no, no!

All this time, Elsa had been pursuing the both of them trying to figure out what to do. For something so big and heavy, this thing sure was fast… She tried to at least bring the wind forward to speed herself up even slightly. Would she be able to fight this thing? It would take a lot of effort to pierce that tough reptilian skin with just ice, but it was worth a shot.

With all her power focused, she created the largest icicle she could. Now she had to try to aim it… A projectile this large could easily hit Anna as well as the target she actually wanted. Careful…careful…

She threw the icicle as hard as she could, and it soared across the hall and finally hit the dinosaur. Hard. To the point of almost being full there was no blood…? The creature roared in pain, its cry echoing through the whole building, making the walls shake. And it…exploded! It vanished into black smoke. Anna coughed, trying to wave the remains out of her vision and make her way back to Elsa.

"Anna…" Truthfully, Elsa was kind of relieved that it had ended up being an illusion of some sort. She couldn't imagine how she might've felt watching a real animal die because of her. "Please tell me you're not hurt."

"No, no, I'm fine!" she smiled. Okay, a bit bruised from being tossed about so much, but nothing serious. "Wow…that was really something…"

"No kidding." Up to this point the villains they'd run into had both confronted them directly. But something like this… It seemed like someone had set a trap some time ago, just waiting for them to wander into it. Which only left one question. "Where in God's name did that come from?" Or more like, who did it come from?

Anna could only shrug. "Who knows? At least it's gone now." Though chances were something like this was going to happen like this at some point. Now it was really important that she got her hands on something useful to carry on her person.

"Yeah…it's gone…" For how long? Never mind. She needed to try to relax or there'd be no recovery for either of them. Speaking of which… Black walls surrounded them on both sides. "Now just how do we get out of here?"

"I would think by that big glowy sign that says 'Exit'," Anna guessed, pointing to an emergency exit tucked away in a corner not to far from where they stood.

"Oh. O-Of course." Pushing her way past the fake trees, she led her sister to the exit door. But the moment she opened it… Red lights began flashing, and sirens went off. "Wait, what happened?"

"I dunno, but let's get out of here before we can find out!" Anna made a mad dash down the white halls and back outside. Elsa hesitated. Would they be in trouble with the staff? It was irresponsible to run away from the mess they'd made…but on the other hand, if the sirens meant danger, she'd strained her powers enough already. So she followed behind.

Ahh, how nice it was to feel the sun again! Or…half a sun, seeing as it was already setting. Geez, how long were they in there, anyway? Then again, it was autumn. "I don't know about you," Anna remarked, "but running from a dinosaur has really worked up my appetite."

"When do you not have an appetite?" Elsa teased. "Although I'll admit, I'm pretty hungry now too. There was a restaurant not too far from here."

"Awesome! Then let's go!" And she set off before Elsa even had the chance to tell her what kind of food they served there. She supposed Anna would eat just about anything anyway. Time to join in.

Arriving at the restaurant, the line at the counter did look fairly long. Maybe eating on the earlier side would have benefited them after all. Either way, it was too late to change their decision now. They'd have to wait it out. "You go find a table, and I'll order our food," Elsa told her.

"Sure thing," Anna nodded. But the place was so crowded… She spent a while wandering around the place before she found a small table for two hidden in a corner in the back. And once she'd claimed it, she grabbed a kid's placemat and a crayon and started to write.

In fact, she'd managed to create a whole list before Elsa finally came back with the food. Anna hardly even noticed her arrival. "Huh. What's so important that you're not paying attention to food?" Elsa wondered with a smirk.

She handed the piece of paper to her sister. The queen skimmed it over… "A list of weapons? Really?"

Anna huffed. She thought they had settled this. "Well…it would've been a lot more helpful back there."

"Well…maybe." No. She couldn't just snap at Anna again. This had to be resolved calmly. "I was really impressed with you back there," she admitted with a smile. "You managed the situation pretty well."

She blushed. Maybe this talk wouldn't turn out so bad. "Really? You think so?"

"Of course I do. You always impress me, Anna."

"Then what's the problem?" she asked.

Elsa sighed. On to the tough part. "Anna…you know, learning to use a weapon takes a long time. People train for years with these things. Once we get home, I might be willing to arrange something for you. But to do something like this on such short notice…"

"I-I guess that makes sense." Now that she thought about it, when would she find time to train when they were supposed to be on vacation? She supposed she could make time, but it'd still be kind of a bummer… "But then what am I supposed to do? There's no way that's gonna be the last of the trouble we find."

That was true. She couldn't foresee avoiding this sort of incident as long as they were still here. So what would work in the short term? "I don't know. Maybe just…do what you have been doing. Using your wits."

"But that didn't work for very long," she pointed out quickly.

"No, but the time it did give us was very valuable. And here, we need anything that we can get."

Anna paused to think it over. "Well…okay." In truth, she still felt unsatisfied. That was her place? Just to serve as a distraction while Elsa did the real work? But…she couldn't think of any other options at this point. Guess she would just have to settle. Maybe food would make her feel better; she promptly started stuffing fries into her face hole.

Well, Anna eating excessively could either mean she was very happy or very disappointed… Either the way, the fact that she agreed to this much at all was a big step forward. She started on her own meal, hoping to herself that they were prepared to face whatever challenge came next.

"Hm?" Anna suddenly turned her head.

"What? What is it?"

"I just saw…" But there was nothing there. "Never mind. Must've just been a bird or something."

"Oh…all right, then." Elsa smirked. Anna always expressed interest in the strangest things.

Meanwhile, a little gremlin carefully hid himself in the bushes as he crept out of the area. This was bad, very, very bad. Maleficent wasn't going to like this at all…
