Chapter 15 - The tides of change

Ellie POV

"A damn dress again!" I groaned as Jade helped me with back.

"It can't be that bad Ellie." She said and she finished tying up the back. "Done."

"I don't see why I have to wear a corset this tight and you don't have to wear one at all...are you going like that?" I asked

"Page is considering not sending me. Chelsee is trying to talk her into letting me go. Appartley I am reckless and I will be a danger to the mission." Jade said

"What? Is she expecting you to take a bullet for Reaver?" I smirked

"I would never have a change to take a bullet for him. He's the hero of Skill remember, he is the master of skill, he'll just knock the bullet away. But I ain't telling Page that, she'll find that out herself." Jade said, I laughed.

"Why don't you like Page?" I asked

"I don't know, I just do, I've never liked her character. I guess the when she hears you're a hero and she's obviously impressed, but she doesn't trust you because of your brother. That just gets at me."

"Ah, but in the game, isn't the main characters dad like that super hero from the second game?" I asked confused.

"Yep, that makes her bug me even more. Heroes are born to help the people, she seems to have forgotten that." Jade looked annoyed, I smiled.

"Well, I find heroes cool. I mean, if I had a power, I would like to rise the dead, or that chaos one." I said

"They are pretty cool spells, but I never really used them...I am not even sure the Chaos spell worked for me. I stuck with the fire and electric spells. A lot easier to use." Jade explained.

"Did the first fable have the same spells?" I asked, curious.

"Not, well, some. They had two fire ones, If I had to have one from that time, Divine fury is defininately top two." I smiled.

"JAde, Page wants to speak to you." Hayley rushed in.

"Yay." Jade smiled mockingly.

"Come on you, don't make her made again, please." I said and pushed her towards the main meeting room. Jade sighed, not happy about it at all.

Hayley POV

"I can't believe it!" I gasped, I sat with Elliot by the sea in Bowerstone Market. "I am just as able as Dennis and Chelsee..."

"Maybe it was more of a thing they needed a small group. I mean, Jade was left behind, wasn't she?" Elliot said

"Yeah, but I think it was more of a thing that Page doesn't trust her at all. But, I really wanted to help out, but I can't..." I sighed and looked down sadly.

"Well, think of it this way. We get to spend more time together." Elliot smiled, I blushed and looked up at him.

"That's a fair point." I nodded "So, what are we going to do to pass the time, because I am super bored."

"We could go to Millsfield to see hero hill. We will be able to see the Manor, if there are any signs of trouble, we can go and help. OKay?" Elliot said, I smiled up at him.

"You're the best Elliot!" I told him, he blushed and took my hand. He helped me up and we headed towards Millsfield.

"Bower Lake." I muttered as we stood at the lake's edge.

"What do you know about Bower Lake?" Elliot asked

"A little, There used to be a little shed that lead to a chamber that wasn't destoryed when the Guild fell. I think it was called th Chamber of faith or something like that." I said

"The chamber of Fate. This place was the sight of the great heroes guild, but the people turned against the heroes that protected them. They thought heroes where getting lazy and more self centered." Elliot explained

"And, all the heroes paid the price for those that were giving them a bad name." I muttered

"Basically, then over 50 years ago a hero rose from the most anicent heroic blood line and saved Albion. The people began to respect heroes once again. Then, Sparrow died, leaving Logan." Elliot looked into the lake. "We thought Avo and Skorm were punishing us again, then you and your friends appeared. Four heroes, we had faith once again." Elliot looked at me "You may not realise it yet, but you and your friends mean a lot to the people of Albion. We know we will be safe with heroes around. People are not as afraid as Logan as they once were. "

"Really? Jade always said how it was always the heroes that proetcted the people and saved Albion in it's time of need, but, I always thought that the People would have been used it and it would just be another day the world was saved by amd Archon." I admitted. "I am happy I help people believe they will be okay, even though I am still not completely sure..."

"You need to believe in yourself a little more Hayley." Elliot smiled "Think you can handle that?"

"I can try, after all, I want to help out as much as I can!" I nodded, there was a roar that came from the biggest Manor. "was that from..."

"Reaver's manor." Elliot said, We looked at each other and raced towards the gerand Manor, ready to help out our friends.

Dennis POV

"I don't see why we couldn't have brought them." I sighed, feeling sorry for Hayley and Jade. To be honest Jade didn't look that bothered, but Hayley...

"What! why can't I go?" Hayley demanded

"Because I said so, Okay?" Page replied, I griminced

"You're starting to sound like my mother." Jade muttered darkly, glaring at Page.

"Well, deal with it." Page glared back at her.

"Sure, if anyone needs me, I'll be planning our enxt course of action?" Jade walked off.

"You said yiou can plan the next move?" Page asked

"Me, deal with it." Jade answered closing the door behind her.

"Please I am just as good as Chelsee and Dennis." Hayley told Page.

"You will be staying here." Page replied, Hayley looked down, obviously upset by Page's choice.

"If there more of us, they may get suspisous." Page replied. Chelsee, Ellie and I shared a look. Jade had made us promise not to tell Page about the ambush, so Page still didn't know that Reaver had stuff planned for those who came to help the missing rebels.

"So, just like the game?" Chelsee whispered to me, I nodded.

"Just like the game." I agreed.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Ellie admitted, we walked behind Page, whispering so she couldn't hear us.

"Me too, it would have been easier if all of us came here. We would complete the task a lot easier." I nodded. "Hayley's Shock spell would have been super helpful against the desert dwelling monsters we'll have to fight, the sand furies."

"I guess my Ice shard spell will have to do. I freeze, you smash?" Chelsee asked

"Yep, it would be the easiest course of action." I said, I glanced at Page as she knocked on the door of Reaver's manor.

"Here we go." Ellie muttered as the door opened and Barry Hatch stood before them, He welcomed us in.

"A bit late, ain't ya?" He said. "Just tell me the password and I'll over look it."

"The Password..." Page asked, panicking.

"I'm only joking, but I was serious." Barry began to show them to the main party. "Almost all the booze is gone, we have a little bit of cooking sherry in the kitchen if you're really desperate. I could organise and noce orgy late, if you want."

"Um, no, thank you." Page said

"Can't blame ya, I don't touch cooking sherry meslef, unless it is the morning." Barry said, he stopped by the door. "Now, Master Reaver has a few rules, not weapons in there. It tends to gets a bit messy."

"Oh, We need to keep ours, we're here for a few...um, friends." Page told him.

"Ah, you must be the noble revolutionaries, right through here." Barry opened the doors and left.

"KIDD!" Page gasped and rushed to the cage where Kidd was locked in.

"You shouldn't have come. Reaver..." Kidd began, then the cage began to rise.

"I've got it!" I said and grabbed hold of the bars, I had hoped be stronge enough to bend the bars, but appearntly not. I ended up having to let go as my arms began to burn. I dropped next to Chelsee, then looked up. Reaver was grinning down at us with a crow mask on, His amber eyes glittered. I knew what was about to happened.

Chelsee POV

"I don't get why we have to play along with him!" I growled as we headed down the first Tunnel. "He is just so...ARGH!" She kicked a stone. Ellie giggled at my reaction, when she saw me looking I turned away.

"We've had to deal with him for years." Page said

"Big deal, Jade knows everything about Reaver. If she had come she could have easily made him mad enough just to leave!" Dennis muttered

"How does she...oh, yeah." Page stopped. "She won't tell me, will she?"

"Nope, she wouldn't tell anyone. Jade may be mega annoying, but she cares about the secrets of others." I told her, we entered an arenea.

"Right, lets get this started." Page muttered annoyed.

"Release the Hobbes!" Reaver called, the small, squishy beasts ran out of small holes dotted around the chamber.

"Let's do this!" Dennis growled, sommoning the amber swords to surround his body.

It was fairly easy to get past the monster Reaver put against us, I was surprised we got through them so fast.

"This is surprisingly easy." I told Dennis.

"Yeah, Balverines are a lot harder." He warned

"I kinda guessed that from Jade continueus references." I smiled, Dennis chuckled.

"This isn't a laughing matter." Page snarled

"We weren't laughing at the situation." I looked at her , when she turned away, I frowned at Dennis.

"she needs to lighten up. We know we'll get out fine." Ellie glared at Page, she too began to feel hatred towards the Rebel.

"She doesn't." Dennis pointed out.

"Ajh, yeah, forgot about that." I muttered and then shrugged "oh well." We were once again standing in the main chamber looking up at Reaver. I was getting a little tired, not to mention hungry. I began wondering what I should have for dinner. I was snapped out of my thoughts by the roar of a raging Balverine. I froze the first one that jumped down to face us. Dennis gave me a high five as he used his blade magic to smash it, frozen pieces of Balverine skidded across the floor. We stuck together, but the Balverines were still able to overwelm us slightly.

"Get away from my friends!" I heard someone shout. The Balverine's in front of us beghan jerking and lightning began running through their bodies. They collasped and I saw Hayley and Elloit standing in the door way. "Miss me?"

"Thanks Hayley!" I smiled, it was a lot easier with three heroes in stead of two. We soon beat the Balverines and stood in front of Reaver, Victorious.

"Um, You are stronger then you look. How about we go up to my chambers and have a private party?" Reaver asked, I had to stop myself laughing, Dennis and Hayley shared my amusement. Page drew her gun and tried shooting Reaver, but he knocked it aside. He walked out as if nothing happened with a 'Tatty-bye'.

"Thank goodness, lets get out of here. I'm starving." I said, Ellie pattered my back and nodded in agreement. We got Kidd out of the cage and began heading back to the base. Ellie, Dennis and I shared a look as a guard began calling out for a royal speech at the Castle

Jade POV

"Um..." I frowned looking down at the map, I continued muttering under my breath, I failed to notice the shadow over me. I jumped as I saw Swift looking down at my notes. "Major!" I gasped and clutched my heart. "Never do that...again."

"I'm sorry, what are you doing?" He asked

"Trying to sort out what's going to happen next...But, I have a huge block and I can't think straight." I sighed.

"You need a break." Swift said. "Would you like to acompany me into town? I am meeting a few old friends in the tavern in Bowerstone Market."

"Um, may as well. There's no one else around here." I nodded, I got up amd took a cloak so I could I hide myself. I knew Logan was still after me, but that wasn't goijng to stop me going out to have fun or meet new people, or going out with Major Swift. I followed Swift to the Tavern, he was meeting is friends in the upper hidden area, it was safe enough for me to take of my cloak.

"Major Swift!" Five soliders came into the room, I watched unsure as Swift greeted them had Black hair tied into a rat tail with green eyes, next to his was a ginger soldier with blue eyes, one with sandy hair and brown eyes, a blonde one with grey eyes, and the one who was clearly the youngest with Brown hair and Borwn eyes. The youngest saw me and he smiled.

"If it isn't the future Queen of Albion." He smirked

"Yeah, I'll be Queen once Logan has been kicked off the Throne. I will sooner go live in Wraithmarsh then marry someone I don't love." I frowned

"She speaks her heart, I like her. I am Major Jones, pleasure to meet you." The Black haired soldier smiled "These are my men, Private Marron, Private Lenvo, Private Napier and Private Johnson. I appologise for Private Johnson attitude."

"I have a bigger attitude, so no worries." I replied, he laughed.

"Yes, she is good for old souls like us." Major Jones patted Major Swift's arm. The men took their seats and began talking about the Revolution.

"I'm Guessing Logan's forced engagment forced you into the revolution." Private Lenvo adressed me, I looked up from my water.

"Not really, I had planned to join the revolution as soon as I got here." I said

"Well, if you are going to end up being Queen, I, for one, will be happy to follow you're lead." Major Jones smiled

"I won't be ruling alone." I stated

"You won't?" The men asked, they looked between me a Major Swift, I blushed.

"Not like that you ideots, I ahve three other friends who are also heroes, like me. We'll be rulling together. If two heads are better then one, how much better are four heads?" I looked down, blushing still.

"I see, well, I would like to meet them sometime." Major Jones said

"I'll tell them, unfortunately, two of them are one a quest and the other one is...somewhere, I'm guessing she's out with Elliot." I finished my water

"Oh my goodness, is that the time? I have a meeting with Logan in 15 minutes. I had better go. " Jones turned to me. "It was a pleasure meeting you, I can't wait until we meet again." I shook his hand.

"Me neither, Please be careful." I told him, he nodded, he left, his men followed. "they were nice...well, most of them."

"I am glad you think so, should we head back to the base?" Swift asked

"Yeah, I hope the others are back now." I smiled and got my cloak. We happily headed back to the base.
