Well, it's been about another year since I updated. That's okay though, because from now on (obviously if people would still would like more chapters) I will be posting them at least once a month. I also don't really like the first couple of chapters of this story, so I'm hoping to build off of them and better the plot. And I realize how short this chapter is. My apologies once again. Please enjoy and review to tell me how it was, I love your feedbackJ
I sat quietly at my kitchen table, poking some left over spaghetti with a fork but not eating it. I couldn't stop replaying what just happened with Natsu in my head and it was driving me crazy. Why did I do it? Why the hell did I just kiss him like that? After telling him off too, and threatening to tell his manager half-lies to get him fired. The kid must think I'm an actual psychopath.
"GRAY!" There was a muffled yell from behind my door, easily distinguishable as Loke, before it was basically thrown off its hinges as he violently entered my house. He stomped over to where I was sitting and I could tell he was giving me a death stare without looking up.
Instead of responding to his obvious anger, I flirted my way around it. As I tend to do when I don't want to deal with something head on. "Loke, there is a way to walk through a door without wrecking the house that said door is attached to." When I didn't get a response other than an angry huff, I elaborated. "You slammed the door into the wall, scratching it. Not only that but you basically broke the hinges on the door."
With still no answer, I decided to look up at him. The moment our eyes met, he began talking. "GRAY! You are an embarrassment to me. You truly are. Natsu looked almost SCARED of you, he even told you he just wanted to be left alone, like how you leave all the other people alone who you sleep with. So instead you MOLEST HIS MOUTH and then scream profanities at him. Oh, after stomping your all-mighty ass over to his workplace to try to get him fired. Smart, Gray. You're a real smart one aren't you. What on earth were you thinking?"
When he finished his rant I looked back down at my food, finally deciding to shove a bit in my mouth. Just as Loke was about to go off again, there was a knock at my door. Loke and I looked over at the same time, him breathing in sharply and me basically choking on the pasta hanging out of my mouth.
At the door stood none other than- yep, you guessed it- the man of the hour himself. Natsu. In all his glory. I gave him another once over, making a mental note of how damn good black looks on him, before Loke spoke up. "Natsu! Good to see you! May I ask how long you've been standing there?"
Natsu ignored the question and instead looked at my almost hanging off door. "Yo, your door is broke." He pointed to the top. "That hinge is off. And it's really hot outside, so you should probably fix that."
I looked at Loke and glared. If he caused my house to burn up like a sauna because my door couldn't keep the cool air in I would kill him. Or just crash at his place and be annoying until he fixes my door himself. That caused me to smirk.
Loke, catching onto my train of thought just by reading my facial expressions, mumbled to me, "I'll fix your damn door. Swallow your food!"
I gulped down the spaghetti before turning to Natsu. "What do you want."
That caused him to laugh. A sarcastic and slightly mean laugh, yes, but I had to swallow again. Watching his perfect mouth curve like that and the small dimple to show near his green eyes was causing that feeling in my chest again. Loke smacked me upside the head quietly, indicating that I had been staring. "What do you mean why am here? What the fuck just happened? I got questions for you."
"Yes but I told you never to fucking come back." I hissed, trying to maintain the facade before he calls me out on my bull shit. "My offer for you to come back whenever was a lie."
"HA. EXCUSE ME." Natsu yelled, walking closer to me. Loke backed away, but I remained seated. Challenging him with my eyes to push me. I was stressed enough, I didn't need this. "I don't remember telling you off then walking up to you in the middle of the fucking park and making out with you. I believe that was you. Also, I don't remember trying to get you fired. SO DONT EVEN TRY." By now he was basically leaning down in my face, which was enough to set me off.
I stood up slowly, dangerously, crossed my arms and faced him dead on. He laughed at the threat. "My bad." I bit the words out, full of venom. "I apologize. I won't bother you again I promise. I expect the same from you."
He curled his hands into fists and took one final step closer, destroying any resemblance of calm I had possessed. "I'm sorry. An apology isn't enough." He spoke with as much threat and venom as I did.
I smirked wickedly. "Well that's too bad."
I can't believe I was ever attracted to this hot headed piece of shit. It was as if he had flames for a brain. Why did he think pissing me off was a good idea?
It was me who threw the first punch. Aimed right at his jaw which he easily ducked and nailed me in the stomach. That surprised me. I didn't think someone like him would be able to fight back. So I stood back up straight and quickly jabbed at his ribs, causing him to pause and cough. Meanwhile, as Natsu and I brawled if out, Loke had walked over to the door and was fiddling with the hinges, trying to fix it. I ignored him and focused on Natsu, who was starting to sweat as we kept up a fast pace of fighting. As was I, the heat from outside was slowly seeping in.
I could already see a bruise forming under his left eye and a scratch on his right cheek. God only knows the damage I've done to his ribs or knuckles. I based that off of the damage he had already done it mine. I was painfully wheezing and my knuckles were scratched up and throbbing but I kept at it, refusing to lose to someone so incredibly stupid.
That is, until his phone started to ring. We both paused, and Natsu cautiously took his phone from his pocket, checking the caller ID. I heard him mumble a quick profanity under his breath before telling me "don't move" and waking backwards to where Loke was near the door, answering his phone.
I watched him carefully, for some reason obeying what he said and not moving. I could hear a voice from the phone, as if someone was yelling, and Natsu looked a little panicked. "Yeah I'm sorry for not calling you... I just forgot... Look it's been a weird day..." Suddenly he looked up at me with an odd look of panic on his face. "NO PLEASE DONT DO THAT. IM BEGGING YOU... I understand that, but you DONT want to come here." He hung up the phone quickly and turned it on silent.
"Listen Gray, I have a really crazy friend who-" Natsu began telling me something when someone ELSE burst through my door. This time instead of hitting against my wall, the door hit Loke square in the face. I immediately burst out laughing. That is, until I saw Natsus 'friend.'
She looked around before laying her eyes on Natsu and going towards him. "Natsu, are you crazy? I told you to call me last night, and today. I'm worried about you! You're new here! Thank god I put a tracker on your phone. Where are you anyways? Why is your face all beaten up?" She questioned, looking at me and Loke.
Her hair was blonde and very long, half tied up in a ponytail and half falling down her back. Brown eyes, nice figure, a very pretty girl. What caught me off guard were here fucking boobs. They were HUGE. They had to be implants.
What I didn't like was how she was treating Natsu. As if they were good friends. Did she like him? Did he like her? Oh god, maybe they're siblings and all these worrying thoughts were for nothing.
"Um hey, I'm Lucy. I'm a good friend of Natsus." She spoke when everyone else in the room was silent. "Me and Natsu moved here together for a school program, and I worried about him so I put a tracker on his phone. He tends to get lost and keep his phone on silent so he never gets my calls. I'm sorry I didn't mean to intrude into your house."
I bit my tongue, about to make a biting remark after hearing that they moved here together. It made me weirdly jealous. Which is stupid. So instead of going with mean persona, I decided to act how I usually would to an attractive girl. "Oh, it is more than okay. I can't believe I've never seen you around before. Lucy, was it?"
A light shade of red tinged her cheeks. "Yeah, Lucy."
I smiled as Natsu darkly scowled. "I'm Gray. As you probably figured this is my house. And that's my servant Loke. " I pointed towards Loke, who flicked me off.
" I'm not his damn servant, but I'm his only friend." Loke bit at gray, rubbing his bruised nose and going back to trying to fix the door. Lucy laughed, and Natsu grabbed her wrist lightly and turned her towards him. They whispered for a bit, my anger invisibly growing with each passing second. Finally they both turned back to me and Lucy scored.
"So you must be Gray Fullbuster." She tisked. " I've heard so much about you from the other girls."
Hearing her tone of voice, I knew it couldn't be good things. I kept my facade. "Can't always believe what you hear sweetheart."
"Shut up Gray, I don't care what you do and I'm hoping after this to just leave you alone, but please refrain from getting into her pants." Natsu told me, pointedly holding a protective hand in front of Lucy as if that would keep me away from her.
Being completely honest, I had no interest in her. She was pretty, with a nice body and of course huge boobs, but for some reason I just wasn't interested. "Yeah, we'll see." I brushed my fingers off on my shirt to show arrogance, knowing it would make Natsu mad. He growled and tried to take a step towards me again when Lucy placed her hand over his chest to stop him and grinned. It made me grit me teeth and bite my tongue in order not to say anything.
"Don't worry Natsu, I'm definitely not interested. You should hear what some of the girls in my class have the say about him." She glanced my way again and looked confused. "Were you two fighting? How did you meet anyways."
Natsu grimaced and began walking out. "I'll tell you on the walk back to your house." When Lucy continued to stare at me and Loke, still with curiosity, Natsu narrowed his eyes. "Lucy, can we go?"
She nodded and began walking behind him out the door. For some reason something inside me didn't feel right, I didn't like watching him leave. "Bye Natsu, I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you." Loke said goodbye to him, to which Natsu responded with a snort.
"No, you won't be. Not if you're still hanging around that snob." He jammed his thumb back at me, to which I began walking towards him.
"OH, you're just asking me to hit you again." I snarled, raising my fist. He did the same thing, about to say something before Lucy rolled her eyes and pushed him out the door, away from me. It was silent for a good three minutes until Loke spoke up.
"You fucking like him."
I glared at him. "I could never like someone like him. Get your mind out of the gutter, don't you think I have standards." With that I began walking to my room to take a shower when I heard Loke laugh.
"No, I don't." He said snidely. I ignored it and continued walking away, knowing the weird feelings I had been having for Natsu were just hidden hatred, nothing else. It couldn't possibly be anything else.
