A/N: I know, I know. I said a few days, which ended up being over a month, and I can only apologise. My medical school application is finally away and schoolwork isn't drowning me so I finally have time to sit down and write this bad boy down. I hope there are still some people out there reading this as I love writing it.

Remember you beautiful spring chickens, I own nothing.

AmeliaPOV

I tiptoed out of bed, leaving Spencer fast asleep and wrapped up in nothing but the sheets as I pulled on his shirt and slipped into the kitchen to start breakfast. I had to make a phone call first though. I tiptoed into the living room, grabbing my cell phone and dialling a now familiar number.

"Hello Bennington Sanatorium, how can I be of service today?"

"Hi, this is Dr Botecelli, I need to speak to Dr Pike if that's okay?" I enquired.

"Sure thing, I'll patch you through." She said

After a few moments of generic 'on hold' music, I heard a familiar voice.

"Dr Pike? It's Amelia, you know, Spencer's girlfriend? I just wanted to confirm everything for today if that is fine, and check on Diana?"

"Of course, Diana is having an excellent week, probably because of this surprise you have planned. Diana's favourite nurse will be flying with her and they will land at 3pm today. There you will be given all of Diana's meds and that sort of thing. Then, Diana's return flight is on Friday and you and Spencer shall be accompanying her and staying until Sunday. Is that still the case?"

"Hopefully if all is in my favour, thanks for this Dr Pike. I'll call if I need anything." I said, hanging up the phone.

Ever since Spencer's birthday, Diana and I had been writing regular letters to one another, and she subtly expressed how she missed spending the holidays with Spencer, especially her favourite, Thanksgiving. So, I pulled a few strings, and I managed to convince her Doctor's to allow her to visit for a couple of days so she and Spencer could have the Thanksgiving together that they wanted. She promised to bring her photograph albums, so I could see pictures of Spencer, and scan a few to keep.

I started breakfast, struggling to contain my excitement; this would be my first Thanksgiving, the past few years I was at the academy I just got takeout and watched the parade. This year, it would be like a second Christmas! And I had so much to be thankful for.

There was Spencer, the team, my family, my health, so so many things that I never realised that I couldn't live without. That's what Thanksgiving is about isn't it? The clue is in the name after all.

I was just putting the kettle on when I heard Spencer padding through, wrapping his arms round my waist, "You left me."

"Aw honey, I was starting breakfast, you looked so cute when you were asleep. I didn't want to disturb you." I said lovingly, turning to kiss his cheek as I fetched some mugs.

"Who were you talking to?" he asked, fetching the tea bags.

Aw crap! Busted. "Pardon?" I asked, playing coy.

"Just there, you were on the phone to somebody." He said, reaching for the sugar.

"Oh, that. It was just the Doctor's, confirming my physical for today. Remember I'm meeting you at Rossi's place and we're staying over tonight for Thanksgiving." I said, pouring the hot water.

Okay, so maybe I was telling a teensy weensy white lie. My physical wasn't for another two weeks, but Spencer didn't know that. I just wanted this to all remain a surprise.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come?" he asked for about the fourth time since I had mentioned the appointment.

"It's fine Spencer, besides, you promised Henry you'd go to the park with him before we head to Uncle Dave's. I'll be fine." He said, bumping his hip as I set out our breakfasts.

The rest of the day passed along in a similar fashion, before I said goodbye to Spence at two, confirming once again that I didn't need him to hold my hand. Once I was in my car, I headed for the airport, passing my time in the car by listening to music.

Once I reached the airport and went through the palaver of parking the car and reaching the arrivals bay, the flight was just landing. Diana was the first one off the plane, therefore the first one to reach the arrivals bay.

Diana was a beautiful woman, and she looked very well and happy. I walked over to her, remembering Dr Pike's words about how to talk to her.

"Diana" I said as I reached her, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you. How was your flight?"

"Terrible, I hate flying, but it was worth it to see my son. You are beautiful Amelia, just like the photos Spence sent me." She said with a smile.

Her nurse spoke to me then, handing me all the necessary medication, schedules and contact numbers. Once she was confident I wouldn't kill Diana, she went to catch her flight back to Vegas, leaving Diana and I to retrieve her bags.

Once we were in my car, driving to Rossi's, Diana really opened up. She was just as kind, witty and intelligent as she was in her letters, and the drive back was filled with laughter and stories.

We reached Rossi's house at around 5pm. We walked to the door slowly, I wasn't sure how Spencer would take this; I hope he didn't think I was intruding.

SpencerPOV

After a fun afternoon with Henry at the park, I was sitting in Rossi's house, extremely nervous as I waited for Amelia to come back from the Doctor's. I hoped to God that she was okay; I don't know what I would do if I lost her.

The more logical part of my brain knew that I was being irrational, but I just couldn't help it; love does funny things to a person.

I also missed my mom; Thanksgiving was her favourite holiday, and I missed her even more today than most. I hoped Amelia could meet my mom one day; I think they'd get on very well together.

I heard the doorbell go, and a few moments later I saw Amelia walk into the main room.

I stood, enveloping her in a hug and kiss, "How did the Doctor's go?"

She looked guilty, "I lied Spence, I wasn't at the Doctor's; my physical isn't for another two weeks." She said sheepishly.

My heart sank. Why was she lying to me? What was she doing that she wanted to keep a secret? Was she cheating on me? My already overactive mind began to overheat as it went into overdrive with the possible scenarios.

"Don't have a coronary Spence; I have a good reason for lying."

"And what is that? Where were you?"

She smiled, and gestured to the door, and in walked my mother.

I was floored, shocked, gobsmacked, flabbergasted, whatever other word any language can equate to the emotion of surprised.

"Mom? What are you doing here?" I asked shocked.

"That lovely girlfriend of yours organised it. In my last letter to her I was saying how much I missed spending Thanksgiving with you, so she got on the phone to Doctor Pike, managing to pull enough strings to allow me to come visit for Thanksgiving." She said, "Now give your mother a hug." She said, opening her arms.

I moved quickly, hugging her tightly, feeling all the warmth and happiness in the world around me. I looked to the team, "You all knew and didn't say?"

"That's the definition of a surprise," Amelia said with a laugh, moving towards me. "That's not all, I've arranged for us to all fly back to Vegas together and spend the weekend there before work on Monday. So the pair of you have even more time together."

After my mother and I had finished hugging, I moved to Amelia, hugging her tightly and kissing her. "I'm so touched, this is going to be the best Thanksgiving ever. Thank you."

She smiled, "Don't mention it. Your mom is the best by the way. Our car journey over here was hilarious; some of the stories about you are so funny. Oh, and she brought pictures too." She added, before going to get her and my mom a drink.

Maybe I spoke too soon about this being the best Thanksgiving ever.

A/N: I hope that was okay! Remember to review. Sorry if my portrayal of Diana is crap, I've done my best. I'll (hopefully) have another chapter up soon!
