King of Hearts
Chapter 49 – Mixed Feelings.
Hash's POV, Over New York.
Vexer kept his eyes out the window as we flew in Don Soul's private jet back to Boston. It was lonely with just the three of us, especially when I'm the only one trying to comment on the meeting with Robotnik. Vexer is just keeping quiet and Don Soul seems to be lost in his own world again. Sometimes I swear I'm the only one with a mind to stay in the present.
"What's your take on Robotnik Soul?" I asked as he glanced back to me through his deep concentration.
Placing his hands along his legs and his eyes back on me, he replied calmly.
"He's interesting."
"How?" I wondered as he slowly stated back.
"I saw how he was adapting to us. He wasn't really focused on the meeting as much as he was all of us."
"So?" I questioned as he quickly replied.
"So he was getting a feed on us Hash. He was trying to see who he could trust more. Maybe even try and see which one of us is the most vulnerable."
Lowering one of my ears in confusion, I replied.
"I don't think your right sir. I saw fear in him. He was scared of some of us. Like Morgue."
"He was scared of Shax Hash. Not Morgue. Morgue is a fat slob protected by even fatter slobs."
"Shax isn't that big boss." I stated as he growled at me.
"That's not what I meant Hash and you know it. Shax is the only real threat Morgue has. The kid knows that now. Same goes for you."
"Me?" I questioned as he nodded once to state.
"Your the only other problem Pitch knows of. And because both you and Shax are far away from him, I see him feeling free of any problems other then the ones Don Skier will provide soon. Leaving him vulnerable."
"What are you suggesting?" I asked intrigued as he shook his head.
"I'm not suggesting anything Hash. I'm merely stating the facts. The kid is blind to anything other then the obvious. That's a weakness we can exploit if the need arises."
"If you say so." I replied as he soon questioned.
"What's your problem?"
Looking back into his red eyes I replied.
"I don't have one. I just think your losing track of our original plan here. We need to focus on...?" Don Soul cut me off.
"I'm completely focused on the plan Hash. Don't question my ability to multitask."
"I wasn't." I stated back as he pointed at me.
"You were. And I can see it in your eyes that you don't see Pitch as a threat when I do."
"I just think the kid is too big of pussy to try anything and your over thinking him right now."
Looking towards were Vexer was, Don Soul asked.
"What about you Vexer? Opinion?"
Slowly turning back towards us, Vexer replied.
"I just think we should focus on our family and Morgue's. Robotnik is our friend more or less and there is no one in his family who would agree to taking us down. And even if there was, he's in no shape to try. I believe if we play our cards right boss we can keep Pitch away and maybe even on our side. There are plenty of options we can take to prevent what your feeling. And most are so simple. Yet I agree with Hash. You can't see them right now because your over thinking everything."
Don Soul continued to stay silent as Vexer looked to me to say.
"We have our own future to worry about. We can't let one thing pull us in a different direction."
Slowly Don Soul began to nod towards us.
"I'm preparing myself. I don't want to not be ready for him. You two are right. I will admit that. But just understand where I'm coming from. If I let the guard down and he does come for us; we will get hurt badly. I'm trying to prevent that by figuring out what his plan is."
Quickly I urged.
"He's just going to deal with Skier. For him to go muscle in on Verno and Cora's turf is an astronomical jump and nether of them will have it. And even if out of some miracle he beat them, he would have to deal with Morgue. And all of us sitting here know Morgue is too powerful for him to take down. Pitch has no one skilled enough to lead his family."
"He has Damien." Stated Soul as I shook my head to reply.
"An old, washed up Underboss from Marxist days. Without Black by his side Damien is half the man he used to be. I could kill him with my hands tied behind my back. He's not the threat he used to be. He lost his touch in the world and because of that Robotnik is incapable of going to the top. And if we focus on what's ahead he'll never see it there again. We just need you to stop bantering him. Your giving too much thought and credit to where it isn't due. Pitch...isn't a threat. Let it go."
Both Vexer and I stared now onto our Don as he lowered his eyes towards the ground in deep thought.
All we need is for him to say okay. His current way of thinking is costing us time. Time we don't have to secure our spot among the top. Don Jeremiah Soul will be the next world leader. And nothing will ever change that, so long as he forgets about Pitch Robotnik. The son of a dying breed.
Don Ricardo Morgue's POV, New York International.
"God I can't wait to get back home." I stated as Sky and Shax both helped me onto my jet.
As soon as I was in, I took my seat to let out a breath of exhaustion. It's a lot of work getting in this tiny plane.
Sitting down across from me, Shax asked.
"You want anything before we take off sir?"
Nodding as Sky got down next to me, I replied.
"Yeah. Go see if they have something to eat on this thing. I'm starving."
"Yes sir." Replied Shax as he made his way to the front of the plane.
Shax may be a very confusing fellow to get along with, but he's deathly loyal to me. He'll do anything for me. One thing no one else in the world can enjoy when it comes to him. And another reason he's always on my good side. Plus I might as well get my use out of him now cause I assume he'll go back to wherever he hides as soon as we land back in Boston.
In moments, Shax came back with two packs of nuts to say.
"They're going to bring you a dinner plate once we are in the air."
Taking the nuts in my hands, I tore them open and began to indulge on the flavor. Shax retook his seat as Sky asked.
"So what do you think about Robotnik's new face?"
Shax remained quiet as I replied with a full mouth.
"He's got potential over Skier. With luck he'll have New York come next week and Skier will be lost in history like his father."
Sky nodded as Shax asked in a low tone.
"Do you think he'll try and move in on Los Angeles?"
Shaking my head with a deep chuckle, I replied.
"He better not. Cause by the time he gets the balls to act, Don Verno and Cora will have been dealt with and LA will be under my control. He even thinks of moving in I'll send him packing back to New York in a coffin."
Shax was never one to show emotion. He just focused back on the front of the plane after I gave him my response. Sky on the other hand asked.
"What about Don Soul?"
Looking over to him I replied.
"Jeremiah won't do anything. He's just like how his wife was. Too hardheaded and he spends most of his time on his back. He won't do anything more then try and take Boston from us. And even then it'll be Hash and Vexer doing all the work."
"Don't you think we should deal with Hash before that happens?" Wondered Shax as I looked back to him to state.
"Hash is nothing. He's nothing more then a cheap whore for hire. And even being a whore he's not too good at his job. If it came down to it Shax I would have you handle him. It would sure send a message to Don Soul who thinks he's safe right now."
"So why don't we just kill him?" Questioned Sky as I quickly replied.
"Because I want to wait out the war with Verno and Cora. They will spend everything on destroying one another. And by the time only one is left standing, we can move in and wipe out the survivor. Leaving LA to us. We will be more powerful then Soul's pathetic family and not soon after we can take Boston and New York. This world will be ours in a matter of time. We just need to be patient."
Sky nodded as Shax fixed his collar.
My focus was now on Shax.
"You'll get your time. Hash can only be protected so long."
Looking into my eyes Shax replied.
"It's not Hash who I want to kill."
In confusion I then asked.
"Then who?"
Shax kept quiet as I nodded and assured him.
"Well whoever it is you'll get your time. I promise."
Glancing back at me, Shax had the eyes of a killer. Someone was in for it. I feel bad for whoever it is, but he'll just have to wait. I have other plans that need to be done first. Starting with Verno and Cora. Once they're dead we can deal with Soul.
Don Brock Verno's POV, Over Los Angeles.
Walking my way around the plane, I found Twig near the bathroom taking off his bandages.
Stopping my way behind him, he exposed his face to look up into the mirror to see me.
"Does it burn?" I asked as he refocused on getting new ones on.
"No, but I can still feel it. I don't think I will ever forget something like that."
"Are you okay?" I asked as I looked using the mirror to see his missing right eye.
Slowly cutting a stop in the new bandages, Twig replied.
"I'm fine."
I knew what was wrong with him. Because I feel the same way.
"Ross won't get away with what he did to us."
Twig kept silent as I watched him try and place the bandages.
Moving into the bathroom with him, I urged.
"Let me."
Twig didn't fight me on it. He just let me help him.
Wrapping the bandages around his head, I wondered.
"How long till you can go without these?"
Looking at me with his one good eye, he replied.
"Doctor said it could last up to a few months. And even then I need to cover my eye. Infection will always be a problem in my life now."
My heart was hurting for Twig. More then I can say for any other man in my family.
"I'm sorry Twig."
Looking down, Twig replied.
"It's not your fault."
Finishing the top part of his head, I stated back.
"I can't help but feel like it is. And even if you don't understand where I'm coming from. My daughter would be gone or worse if it wasn't for you. I owe you a debt that can never be repaid."
Going silent, I watched from then on as he wrapped up the rest of his face. As soon as he was done he looked back at me to reply.
"I told you the day we met that I would do anything to find the man I'm looking for. To repay that debt all you need to do is tell me where he is."
Our eyes locked as he ordered.
"Find Remp."
Slowly making his way to the door, I questioned.
"What about Ross?"
Stopping at the frame Twig replied.
"I'm sure as a father I don't need to tell you to find him as well. But when you do, make sure I know cause I have a score to settle. We both do."
Leaving me to myself, Twig left to retake his seat on the plane. After Cora, helping him is all I will do. He earned that much.
Proceeding out of the bathroom to find him and Jin sitting next to one another, I quietly sat back down. We'll be landing soon.
Seems like most Dons have a plan or two. What do you guys think Don Soul has planned? And remember to leave a love and a hug.
